Prison Saints #1.5

Ceifador X: A Forbidden Romance

Rate this book
Feared like death, worshipped like light;
He was my breath, and I was poisoned at first sight.

Just as the earth was round, I, Bianca Di Vaio, have always been sick. I’d spent most of my life confined in my room, secluded in my mansion, and off-limits to all the men who worked for my father, the kingpin of Manhattan.

Then one night, I heard his voice.

Antonio Castillo talked like desire but looked like death; dressed in all black wearing a metal skull for a face. He was the deadliest man at my father’s disposal. The Knight who earned the name, Grim Reaper.

Have you ever heard the story about a caged young girl who met her knight in broken armor?

*CEIFADOR X is a PREQUEL to THE KNIGHT’S ROSE and must be read beforehand*
Ceifador X ends with a cliff hanger and will continue in The Knight’s Rose. This book contains steamy, graphic and taboo material between an older man and a younger girl that might be offensive for some.

This novella is a part of the Prison Saints series. I absolutely loved the first book in this series (The Jack's Heart - previously titled Prison Promise), and have been so excited for more, so I was thrilled to learn that this novella would be the lead in to the next full-length book in the series, The Knight's Rose. It provides an introduction to the characters and their background, and set the scene for what is sure to be an emotional and intense read.

Bianca Di Vaio is the 15 year old daughter of a New York crime boss. Ill since birth, she is locked away in her father’s home with very little interaction from the outside world apart from those who care for her, and the occasional visit from her father.

Antonio Castillo works for Bianca’s father. Calling himself Ceifador X, he is a killer who lives in his boss’ basement, and his life is nothing but death, alcohol and anonymous sex with random women. But while drunkenly exploring the house one night, he comes across Bianca and even knowing it’s against the rules, he enters her room.

Bianca and Antonio’s meeting changes them both. From the first moment, Antonio can’t get the sickly girl out of his head, feeling all kinds of confusing thoughts towards her. And Bianca comes to crave his visits as her only link to the outside world, and to the darkly mysterious man who is the most ‘real’ person she’s ever met.

Feared like death. Worshipped like light.
He was my breath, and I was poisoned at first sight.

It’s twisted and a bit debauched (she is 15 and completely innocent and naive, he is a 28 alcoholic criminal man-slut), but they come to mean something to each other. Just what that is, I’m honestly confused. Their situation is so surreal, and the intensity of it all is extreme. I didn’t feel any kind of romance, more like curiosity and perhaps obsession? There’s also lust there which felt all kinds of in inappropriate given their ages and situation, and even though there is no sex, there’s definitely steamy goings on.

The ending is abrupt and provides clues to where the next book is going to go. I have so many questions, and I’m really curious what’s going to happen for these two. I’m definitely keen to read more.

An interesting beginning, but it’s done its job and hooked me!

3 stars.

Fucking cliffhanger

-------------

I found this through a random search on Amazon for the letter X for a challenge and was intrigued but ended up loving this.

Neo's POV grabbed me by the boob and dragged me through a mildly disturbing tale of taboo obsession that has me excited for their story to carry on. I will say that I found Bianca's POV to be a bit annoying simply because she's naive and spoiled, but that is her character so it fit the story perfectly.

Hopefully, the next one is out very soon.

Soon as I put down the jacks heart I immediately got this one on my kindle download. Though it’s a novella, I enjoyed it even more and can’t wait for the knights Rose next year. It was pretty dark and even managed to make me feel a little uncomfortable with the age gap. But I like it when a book has the ability to make my skin crawl (contemporary romance who?). Give me raw, unfiltered filth over hearts and flowers any day. I think it’s best to go into this one not knowing anything so I won’t go into the plot, you won’t be disappointed though. Demi vice is now 100% on my author radar.

Bianca is a 14, soon to be 15-year-old girl, locked in her room in her father's mansion. Kept secret from everyone but her father and her nanny. It's to protect her, her father says. She has leukemia and he doesn't want her exposed to the world, to HIS world. And then one day, one of his men, Antonio Castillo, drunkenly unlocks her door, and suddenly, these two souls connect on a level neither was prepared for. They should never have met, but once they do meet, somehow they become a bit obsessed with each other. Will they be each other's undoing?

Ceifador means Reaper in Portuguese. That alone is an indicator of Antonio's character and what he does for Bianca's father, what his place is in the world. He knows better than to keep obsessing over Bianca. Knows he can't have her, SHOULDN'T even be near her. He's 15 years her senior and he's a damaged man, not even in the realm of being good enough for his employer's innocent daughter. But he just can't help himself. There's something about her that calls to him. It's just that that will get him in trouble, though, so he has to stop visiting her in her jail/room. The question is, can he stop? Will he stop?

I have to admit that I was really leery about where things were heading for Neo and Bianca. She's 15 and he's 29. I mean yuck...but at first they were just friends of a sort and nothing was really happening other than the two of them obsessing over each other. I could see that things were heading in a squicky direction, though, then the cliffhanger happened, so I was left with some queasiness and a bit of anxiety, wondering just where their story is going to eventually go. I am definitely interested in reading The Knight's Rose, but I am also definitely a bit wary. I hope Neo can redeem himself, and I hope Bianca lives long enough to finally gain some freedom and some happiness. As this is a novella, there was just enough time to tease the reader with what if's and what will come next. There wasn't enough time to fully develop either character, and I can't say that I ended Ceifador X with any kind of positive feelings for either of these two damaged characters. Here's hoping their full length story gives them more depth, and some love and happiness, even if it is against the backdrop of her father's criminal underground world.

Ceifador X by Demi Vice is the Prequel to The Knight's Rose and is a part of the Prison Saints Series.
Bianca has been isolated due to her father's orders because she was a sickly child and know a young women. Only having a nanny to look after her and the nanny isn't a nice person. Bianca's father is a kingpin of Manhattan, so things are not good there. So when she starts getting visits from Antonio a older man who lives in the house that we learn is a hired killer of her dads...it becomes the highlight of her sad life.
This book does end with us needing the next installment in this series.

Bianca is a fifteen year old girl locked behind a door by her Mafia Kingpin father. She has been sickly all her life and has no connection to the outside world. Antonio is twenty-eight, one of her father's hit men, an alcoholic and has anonymous sexual encounters with women. The distance between them is huge but they come to look forward to talking and seeing each other. No sex happens but steamy touching is enough to get Antonio in trouble. I am hooked and want to find out what happens in the next book. This book ends on a cliffhanger and will be continued in the next book.

Ceifador X will suck you in craving for The Knight's Rose!

Even though Bianca was dying I felt sorry for her being confined to her room when she should be out exploring the world. Her father may be the kingpin but I feel she is his secret and he neglects her.

Antonio is a lost and tortured soul who fights with his inner demons. A Knight of the kingpin of Manhattan.

A forbidden love that could give a dying girl and a lost soul of an older Knight hope.

Is Bianca Antonio's Rosa?

Can't wait for Knight's Rose!!

Ceifador X is a prequel to Demi Vice's Prison Saints #2 novel (coming in 2020) and is the backstory of Bianca di Viao and Antonio Castille.  Bianca is the very ill daughter of a mafia boss. She is imprisoned in a gilded cage in her father's mansion seeing no one but her father and her nurses.  Antonio is one of Mr. Di Viao's hitmen.   Antonio sneaks into Bianca's room to learn about the caged bird that no one talks about and finds a very lonely, sickly girl.

This prequel is the type that makes you want the book that it accompanies yesterday.  You learn about the motivations, thoughts, and dreams of two tortured people who shouldn't have met but build a bond nevertheless.  Antonio is a hardened criminal from a long line of criminals.  He lives in the basement of the mansion with his uncle who for reasons that aren't completely clear he both loves and hates.  Bianca is a young girl yearning for a normal life that she just won't ever have.  Plagued by severe allergies, low immune system and finally leukemia she latches on to Antonio as a lifeline only to be disappointed.

The book is intense and reveals as much as it hints at.  This is a quick read with only 8 chapters and ends on one hell of a cliffhanger that makes me very curious as to how Antonio and Bianca's story will play out.

In the Novella, Ceifador X, author Demi Vice gives a taste of what's to come in the Knight's Rose. A quick and intriguing read, Ceifador X both sets the scene and piques the reader's curiosity. A sick and sequestered young girl, and a seemingly deviant man are introduced as the main characters. I enjoyed the descriptions of each character, and found Antonio in particular had me forming all kinds of theories and questions, as to where author Demi Vice may take this story.

As interested as I am in what's to come for these characters, I did feel that some areas of the novella were somewhat too vague. I craved more of an emotional connection to the characters, and missed the opportunity to really become invested in them. I have a feeling what will become an intricate and complex story line in the Knight's Rose, was left open with plot holes and missing information in Ceifador X.

While my curiosity is certainly piqued as there are a lot of great elements here, as a whole Ceifador X left me wanting more. I am however undeterred from continuing the series, and look forward to what's to come for Bianca and Antonio.

Part of the Prison Saints series. While book one, The Jack's Heart can be read as a standalone, Ceifador X is the stunning prequel to The Knight's Rose, and you must read them together. I adored book one , and have been looking forward to this story, knowing that Antonio had a small, mysterious appearance. The prequel introduces us to sickly Bianca, and her sheltered, isolated world, from childhood to young adulthood. She's got precious little to look forward to, and the illicit visits from the much older Antonio top her list. It's kind of sad and hopeful at the same time. Bianca is quite out there and you watch her grow up but Antonio is an adult from the start, and there are things about him that have yet to be revealed. Given Bianca's isolation, Antonio shares things about himself & his family that he has never shared with another; could this be his undoing? The story ends on a mild cliffhanger-it makes me anxious for the next part of their story.

I was blown away by Demi Vice’s debut novel Jack's Heart, which is also the first book in her Prison Saints series. When I heard about her new novella, Ceifador X, (pronounced Say-fah-dur) I became so excited, I couldn’t wait to read it! Just so you are aware, Ceifador X is the prequel to Knight’s Rose, which is the second book in the Prison Promise series. It is not necessary to read Jack’s Heart, but you will need to read Ceifador X before reading Knight’s Rose.

Ceifador X introduces us to Bianca Di Vaio, who is fifteen years old and the daughter of New York City’s mafia boss. Bianca is sheltered since she’s unfortunately very sick, and because of that, her dad locks her in her bedroom. He warned her to never cross any of his knights, but especially his most dangerous one, the Grim Reaper.

Antonio Castillo works for Bianca’s father and lives in the basement of the Di Vaio mansion along with Lorenzo, his uncle. When Antonio discovers Bianca’s locked door, he’s curious to know what’s on the other side. When the boss calls on them, they wear a silver mask which resembles a skull. They’re to be feared, but when Bianca sees him, she’s intrigued. That is until he does something that Bianca can never forgive.

Let me tell you, I just love this story, and I cannot wait for the Knight’s Rose, the next book in the series! While you wait for the release day, I recommend reading Jack's Heart if you haven’t yet!

I fell in love with Demi Vice’s words last year with Prison Promise (new title is The Jack’s Heart).
Ceifador was the perfect novella- teaser for the new series.
Antonio and Bianca have my heart. They were so wrong for each other that it made them right.
I can’t wait to dive into the series and get the answers to the questions this one left me with.
Well done Demi! Thank you for tasting morsel.

This is the first book i've read from this author. She does a nice job painting a picture of this taboo love affair.
There is no sex in this short story but a slow teasing affair. Bianca is a 15yo very sick girl that is a prisoner in her own home. Due to her sickness she is not able to go outside into the world for fear of getting worse. Biancas dad is a very dangerous powerful man and his " employees" live in the same house. So without giving to much away, A man, a very much older, dangerous man, comes into Biancas life. Since Bianca is sequestered it seems like she is obsessed with an older man. What she does ends this little tryst but does it? This is not something I usually read but it was written very well, kept me interested for sure and I would definitely read more from this author.

This is the second book within this Prison Saints series from this author. The first one I absolutely loved, this one not so much. I felt that it was written in a bit of a confusing way. I personally felt that it was a bit all over the place. It's just a prequel to the next book coming in the series where it looks like we will be getting Antonio's whole story which I'm hoping is just as good as the first full book in the series. Now having said that, just because this one book wasn't my favorite doesn't mean it won't be yours. As I said the first book in the series was really good, so take a look at all the reviews as well as the authors synopsis to see if this just might be your next read.

This was the first read for me from this author. I founding it oddly interesting. Its an age thing working and let me tell you, the wide span between them big tabooish but its also the draw kind of.

I found myself very sad for Bianca and her life's circumstance. So it was almost like yeah turn away and pretending it's not happening. Then because double standards are what they are, I wasn't really happy with Antonio, his only saving grace? was that we know he is a bad guy.

This is a beginning so it left some questions to be answered, the ending was just a tad skewed mostly the timeline had me rereading a couple of paragraphs. Written in a way that makes you anxious for the next book, the next part of the story. Enjoy.

Well, I thought this would be an intriguing read and it was to a point. The hero was a mysterious 29 yr guy who had many creepy ways about him, but he did seem to want to brighten our heroines day a bit. Now here’s where I’m not happy, our heroine is a sick, trapped, bratty 15 yr old girl who insists on throwing herself at him. There’s no actual intercourse between them but things get pretty hot and I felt it was unnecessary for her to be so young and the character should have been older, it just gave me the creeps.
I now this book is just a tease and hopefully the characters will be older in the next as I’d like to follow the story, it could be a very interesting read.

Holy .. what a prequel! Bianca lives in her room she is sick and basically wasting away until one day there is a knock on the door and it’s a man’s voice! Antonio is a dark man the face of a skull and surrounded with darkness meets Bianca the girl with blue eyes that speaks to his soul but she is too young and way to vulnerable. The connection is overwhelming. A very intense story that I didn’t want to end and can’t wait for the first book of this series! 5/5 stars

Honestly, I finished the book about a week ago and it's taken me this long to write the review because I wasn't really sure how to word my review. I was sucked into this book from the beginning Biannac is one of those characters that pull at your heartstring she been dealt such a shitty hand by life and at one point you feel like her situation is hopeless and yet your still hoping for some miracle. Antonio is damage and I want to know more about him it's not a want its a need. I need to know more.

Well written, dark and intriguing.

I usually wouldn’t go for a story with such a large age gab because frankly it just doesn’t work in my mind. That said though, I REALLY enjoyed this prequel because of all the other darker sides of it. I loved seeing how a character so dark fell and submitted to someone so broken.

I can’t wait to read the following novel.

I'm very intrigued by what I've read in this, a prequel to the Knight's Rose - its unusual and could be considered quite nasty / deviant / sick, whereas it just really made me want to read the next book pretty sharpish.

I haven't ready Demi's first book, Jack's Heart, so her writing is new to me, but considering how new an author she is this was a fantastic achievement that had be captivated and engrossed within the first few pages - but it won't be for everyone!

Bianca is the 15 yr old daughter of New York City's mafia boss, who lives her life purely within her bedroom, imprisoned for her own good by her father as she is a very poorly girl, now diagnosed with leukemia. But Bianca has a wild spirit and imagination and is hellbent on experiencing as much of life and emotions as she possibly can. She has been warned about the men her father has working for him, his Knights, in particular one called the Grim Reaper, who is the worse one of them all.

Antonio works for Bianca's father as one of his Knights, living in the basement of the house along with his uncle. Antonio is the one they call the Grim Reaper, he is a very skilled assassin and comes from a long line of such. When he comes across a locked door within the mansion and hears a girl's voice behind the locked door he is intrigued as to why she is there. Unable to resist the lure of the young girl he finds himself returning to the locked door and the girl behind it.

Bianca's chance meeting with the man behind the door becomes the highlight and the fixation of her very sad life, as he invokes a range of emotions that she has been sheltered from, and he becomes her everything, until he isn't.

Very much a taboo older man / younger girl read with a heck of a cliff hanger ending, I really enjoyed it and now can't wait for the next installment.

Before I even get into this review please note the note at the bottom of the synopsis: *CEIFADOR X is a PREQUEL to THE KNIGHT’S ROSE and must be read beforehand* Ceifador X ends with a cliffhanger and will continue in The Knight’s Rose. This book contains steamy, graphic and taboo material between an older man and a younger girl that might be offensive for some.

Please be aware of this before you read. It is somewhat graphic and I am sure that the rest of this series will be as well.

Now let’s get into it.

Should I love a book this much? Especially with such an age gap (14 years) and our main heroine being undeage. No, absolutely not, but here we are and I ate it all up. I thought it was an absolutely thrilling and what a tease! Antonio and Bianca are complete opposites. He is dark, she is light. He is hard, she is soft. He is sinful and she is innocent. They are so, so wrong for each other. But, so right. There is nothing that I enjoy more than a book that makes my heart race. This did it for me. I could not put this book down, nor did I want to put this down. Demi Vice is a brand new author and I am so glad I am here for her beginning. With this only being her second book (more like novella) but I am amazed! Her writing is effortless and so easy to read and understand whats going on. The balance between these two already have is perfect. The Jack’s Heart (Book One in the Prison Saints series) on my queue and I’m going to start reading it after I finish this review and I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am for The Knight’s Rose. This is a definite ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ star read.
