Inspiration also strikes when I hear a song, meet someone new or daydream while at soccer practice.

    Heath is the one King that you would think is laid back and an all around easy going guy! But he has demons and secrets just like everyone else. When out one night with his current teammates and old team, the Kings, he notices Kara the minute she walks into the place....alone! Kara is trying out for her PhD and is all study and no play, but after receiving a letter from someone she never thought she’d ever hear from again, she goes out for a bit so that she can relax. She ends up in the same place as a bunch of hockey players and a guy who takes her breath away....who looks like a surfer 🏄‍♂️ They end the night together, and as things progress, they also bring with them more complications than either expected.

    Loved this story of Heath and Kara! Have to admit I was reluctant to read this as I wasn’t sure of Heath’s character but as Maya delved into his past I realised I’d misjudged him and I should have read this story sooner than I did😍

    Wow this story blew me away!

    I am in love with the Kings, every single one of them.

    Heath and Kara were beautiful together, I loved the sort of 'forbidden' aspect about it. These two had amazing chemistry. The angst was real in this book they both dealt with a lot of difficult things in their past which they definitely bonded over and it was great to get their back story. They do deal with a lot throughout their relationship and my heart broke for them and the Kings.

    All and all I loved it so much. I laughed, I swooned and cried but by the end i'm so happy they got their HEA.

    I cannot wait to read Avery and Emmett next ❤

    This is a first read for me by this author and while I give it 3.7 stars it was a good story.
    I liked heath alot.
    I highly recommend this story.

    Heath is known as the laid back and fast skater on the ice among his friends and teammates. But what no one knows is that he struggles with an anger that builds inside of him. That's why he is always pushing himself to train - it's the only thing that curves his anger.

    Kara is working her tail off to become a professor and teach like her adopted parents. Kara had a hard life before leaving that situation, so now she wants to show her parents that she appreciates everything they did for her.

    When Kara and Heath see each other for the first time across the bar, it's an instant connection and attraction. And because of the intensity they both feel, they waste no time getting to know each other.

    With the pressure of hockey and the pressure of obtaining her scholarship, the times Kara and Heath can see each other are few and far between. But both know that this is something they want to fight for.

    Things get complicated when they find out that Kara is Heath's TA for his independant study class. Now, they have to be professional, teacher/student relationship to not risk their dreams.

    But when the pressure gets too much for Heath and Kara, the only thing they want to do is go to each other. Will they lose everything or will they lose each other with the decisions they make?

    I. LOVED. THIS. BOOK!!! Maybe not aaasss much as book #1, but it was still amazing. Heath is smoldering and boy, when he wants something, he makes it his sole mission to get it if there's any possiblity that it's available. And the way he was with Kara? Holy Crap! I wish I was Kara....haha

    And I was very surprised with Kara. The way we were introduced to her, she seemed shy, school oriented, very focused, but when she first met Heath, she was bold and brave and she went for what she want. I was shocked, but I was so rooting her on!

    Plus, I loved that she went out to a bar by herself and stuck through it even though she was definitely uncomfortable being there by herself. She showed that a single woman can do things on her own and still have fun without a group of people relying on her.

    The personal issues that Heath and Kara were both going through were heartbreaking. Heath has so many emotions running through him and it makes the reader see that even though a person can look happy and be laid back and cool, you never know what is going on inside of them. And Kara is haunted by her past, but you would never know that by watching her go for her goals to have a great future.

    There were so many great moments in this novel, and I'm so glad I stumbled upon this novel. It's a series that is going to be an insta buy for me the second the next books are released.

    And let me tell you, I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE NEXT BOOK!!! I need Emmetts book NOW!!! It's been killing me not knowing everything ever since I read the prequel book, so I'm so glad it is going to be next!!

    I definitely recommend this novel, and this series, to any reader because I love them so much :)

    Gostei mais ainda desse livro que do primeiro. Achei esse mais completo quanto às histórias de vida dos dois personagens. Ambos se reconhecem como almas que tiveram uma infância difícil e que superaram. Mas ainda tem muito a aprender. Heath não é nada daquele cara despreocupado e meio doidinho. E a Kara é uma mulher tentando se encontrar e ser amada.

    Heath and Kara were totally unexpected for me. They both present as very disciplined and controlled - Heath has a steady temperament, is rarely riled, and is all laughs and jokes. On the surface at least - lurking beneath is a powerful swell of emotion waiting to erupt that he is terrified of and spends so much energy suppressing. Kara is the model student - good grades, active in her field, and a respectable grad student with a focus on long term academic achievement. But she secretly yearns for a more unconventional, artistic life path.

    Heath is just such a sweetheart - he's so open and vulnerable. He's sweet, thoughtful, and humble while also having a magnetic charisma and self-assured confidence. Kara is so layered - she's motivated and has so much to offer, but gets stuck on her own feelings of inadequacy. The way these two quickly let down their guard to connect emotionally is as breathtaking as their hotel room escapades are hot.

    This book was emotional in so many ways; in exploring the curveballs life can throw you, how the past can come back to haunt you, and what it's like to work every day to be as different from the people who hurt you as possible. It strikes a perfect balance between hot, funny, and emotionally charged.

    This series is one of my all time favorites. I can’t tell you how many times I have recommended it to people. I thought I was in love after reading Kings of Rittenhouse and Shamess King, but I had no idea. Reckless King takes it to a whole new level. I absolutely adore these characters. Maya Hughes brings all the feels in this book. I was on the edge of my seat, staying awake all night, because once I really dove in, I couldn’t stop!

    This book has it all. Hockey, romance, tragedy, friendship, and so much love. Hockey is more than just background noise. We really know the team and follow them through their achievements and struggles. The connections between these characters is so strong, you can’t help but care what happens to each and every one of them. They are so well written that I could feel every high and low they experienced. I was expecting Heath’s book to be pretty light and carefree, but I was so wrong. There is so much depth to Heath and Kara both. As their layers were peeled back, I fell more and more in love with them.

    Heath may seem like the carefree guy who goes after whatever he wants, but he has a heart of gold and cares deeply. It is impossible to read this without completely falling for him! And Kara works so hard to overcome her past, but she really just doesn’t want to disappoint anyone. The lengths she is willing to go to for others makes me want to be her BFF and had me longing for her HEA. The chemistry between these two couldn't be denied. They were HOT from the very beginning, but their connection was so much more than just physical.

    This book is not only my new favorite in this series, it is right up there as one of the best books I’ve read this year. I can’t wait for more! While it could technically be read as a standalone, you will really be able to embrace every emotion by starting at the very beginning and reading your way through this series. Not to worry, you will enjoy each and every one. I was hooked from the very beginning!
