Arthur 'Fitz' Fitzwilliam is the hottest, most reckless playboy in town... and my new husband?!

Believe me, I never dreamed that I'd be walking down the aisle to a quickie marriage with a total stranger, but thanks to my eccentric god-mother, an iron-clad will, and a blind, three-legged cat called Alfred (don't ask), I need to get hitched ASAP. And when the perfect candidate leaves me at the altar, there's only one person crazy - and drunk - enough to step up at the last minute.

The best man.

Also known as the man most likely to get caught romping with three Rockettes in the back of a Sex and the City tourbus. The man who could melt my panties at twenty paces - and make me want to pour a bucket of ice-water over his head. The man I just pledged to love and honor and... oh god, WHAT HAVE I DONE?!

Our arrangement was clear: keep up the charade long enough for me to claim my inheritance and send my slime-ball cousins packing. Our plan is working perfectly.

Then Fitz decides to change the rules....

Becca is in a bit of pickle… She needs to get married to inherit the building she lives in and it needs to happen today. When her recruited groom ditches her at the altar she decides to drown her sorrows at a bar. All of the residents of the building she lives in will be devastated to hear they have to move out of a place that has been home for them for more than 20 years. She has let them all down.

As Becca tries to soak up regrets, looking for answers in the swill of the bottom of her glass a Hail Mary comes her way in the form of a very good looking man. After hearing her story he volunteers to marry her, knowing very little about her. She is beautiful though so there is that…

Arthur 'Fitz' Fitzwilliam comes with a bit of a reputation as a ladies man, photographed with a new model on his arm each week. To make this plan work his is going to have to ditch that lifestyle for a while so they can keep up the pretence of a loving marriage. If Becca can convince not just the court but her money hungry cousin that this is a ‘real’ marriage, the building will legally be hers.

They establish a few rules and plan to always be on guard when they are in the public eye. This means a little bit of PDA, in the name of being convincing in front of certain people. Fitz is used to a lot more than that and regularly so he proposes an extra layer to their agreement. A mutually satisfying one that means both of them will have their ‘needs’ met. Becca is reluctant at first but jeez, have you seen this man? She thought she had had sex before but nothing could have prepared her for what Fitz has in store for her.

‘He tosses me down on the bed and strips off his clothes so fast. I want to applaud. Because what he’s been hiding under those finely-tailored pants? Gimme. Now.’

He is not just good in bed but he is sweet, caring and it feels like something more is growing between them. Maybe when this arrangement is all over he might be keen to still catch up from time to time… but first they need to pull this charade off.

‘I yawn, rolling over to find – The bed is empty. I sit up. I can hear music playing down the hall, and is that..? The smell of bacon cooking. My God, I really have died and gone to sexual fantasy heaven.’

When the shite hits the fan and everything seems to be crumbling down around them they both realise that the ruse is over. Becca is devastated and if she is honest with herself a bit heart broken. How did things change so quickly for her in such a short time? Why does it all hurt so bad when they hardly know each other? Turns out that Fitz really was the best man, not just for the job but her heart too. How is she supposed to walk away from this?

This was another fun, sexy read in the Billionaire Bachelor series.

Marie's Tempting Reads ARC Review:

THE LATEST ROM-COM FROM LILA MONROE PUT ME IN ONE HECK OF A BOOK HANGOVER! Best Man was F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S! Sexy, funny, sizzling, emotional and best of all witty, I fell head over heels for this book.

Lila Monroe's Billionaire Bachelors series is unforgettable and entertaining and were a blast to read. Best Man is just a smidge different from her previous books in the series because it was a bit more emotional but it sure as heck worked for this book. I really enjoyed the book and sure will miss this series.

Best Man gets a FABULOUS FIVE SHOOTING STARS!

4.5 SMOOCHES

I’ve read each book in Lila Monroe’s Billionaire Bachelors series, and I’ve enjoyed them all. Best Man is the sixth and final book in her Billionaire Bachelors series, and I’m sad this fantastically fun and steamy series is over. Romantic comedies based on the fake relationship trope, they’ve all been light-hearted, easy reads that were full of humor and heat but low on the angst and drama. Monroe’s writing never fails to pull me into her stories with vivid descriptions, attention to details and unique plots. One of the things I appreciate most about her writing is the way she thoroughly develops her stories, filling them with imaginative elements and interesting side characters that help to paint a vibrant picture for the reader. Building on that foundation, Monroe’s creative plots about endearing couples and their sexy romances are always an enjoyable reading experience for her readers.

Best Man was a bit of a different take on the fake fiancé storyline, and of the six books in the series, this one was the most emotional. Left at the altar by her original fake groom, Becca is in a bit of a jam when she runs into the best man at a bar as she’s drowning her sorrows in tequila and fries. A devastatingly handsome Brit, Fritz, listens to her tale of woe and offers to step in. Fritz has worked hard to cultivate his reputation as the notoriously carefree playboy everyone knows him to be. But Becca sees past all of that, beyond the façade he shows the world, to the kind, thoughtful man beneath the surface. The heat between Fritz and Becca was fiery, and while it may have started out as a business arrangement, there was no faking their chemistry—or the very real feelings they both were developing. But millions of dollars are hanging in the balance, and not everyone is buying the new couple’s story.

A humor-rich plot and a sexy, sweet, swoon-worthy romance about a couple I was pulling for from the start, I smiled the whole way through Best Man. This book was a fantastic end to a series full of entertaining, amusing, fun-to-read romances. Best Man by Lila Monroe gets 4.5 smooches from me!

Best Man is swoony, full of laughs, and riddled with enough sexual tension to set a building on fire. I’m a complete sucker for ‘fake relationship/marriage’ tropes, and Best Man hit the mark!

With an inheritance on the line that comes with certain conditions, Becca is in dire need of a husband…like, yesterday. But when her soon-to-be husband ditches her at the last minute, Becca goes from desperate to hopeless. So when Fitz, a complete stranger – granted, an utterly sexy, British stranger – steps in to fill the role, Becca soon realizes that being fake married to a drop-dead gorgeous and charming heartthrob might not be so bad…or it might be the biggest mistake she’s made in her life.

I really loved this story! Not only does it have dynamic chemistry and attraction between Fitz and Becca (which, believe me…WOW) and is layered with humor and witty banter, it’s filled with heartwarming emotions and actions that seem truly uncommon in today’s society. It showcases the lengths to which one person with go to protect those around them, even if it’s at the cost of wagering one’s own heart in the process to a love that’s unknown.

This book makes me want to get ‘fake married’ myself, but I don’t think my husband would approve of that. *sigh* Oh, well. Such is life.

I’m really sad to see this series come to an end. Best Man is a fabulously written romantic comedy and the author is an absolute genius. And in the spirit of looking on the bright side, I’m incredibly anxious and excited for what she’s bringing us next! Well done, Lila!

The Billionaire Bachelors series came to an end and this last book,Best Man,was one of my favourite.
Lila Monroe has produced yet another amazing novel,it's a pleasure to read her words,the flow and the plot kept me engaged throughout the story.

Becca and Fitz are a beautiful "fake" couple,she needs a fake husband in order to save the building where she lives from a greedy man,but one thing she hadn't counted on was that she might fall in love with him for real.

I wholeheartedly recommend you to read this story to find out how Becca and Fitz journey will end.Will they have their happily ever after?Or will they fulfil their contract and they go their separate ways?

This book was an easy, amazing read!! The characters made me laugh and cry all at the same time. Becca and Fitz are a couple that are in circumstances that seem crazy. I loved how they took everything in stride and rolled with the punches. There is humor, romance, and all around sexiness in this book. I loved the “no care” attitude by Fritz in every aspect of his life in the beginning. By the end, that attitude completely changes and he steps up to be the man she needs. Truly, a great book written by Lila Monroe. All the aspects of a great romance read are there. Buy yours today!!

I’m sure you’ve heard of the expression - ‘a no-win situation;’ heck, you might have even experienced one…well let me tell you, when it comes to these problematic positions, Becca Delaney, the heroine in Lila Monroe’s newest release, Best Man, epitomizes that saying and then some, and things only seem to get worse when he ‘would-be’ husband ditches her on their ‘big’ day. And while I understand Becca’s desperation to get married in order to fulfill the dictates of her aunt’s will, her choice of husband was definitely not a good one as shown by the fact that he took off running, preventing them from tying the know and leaving Becca in an abysmal situation and not anywhere close to securing the apartment building that she calls home.

Enter a Hail Mary of sorts - one of the gorgeous British variety - a total stranger who graciously takes up the charge and doesn’t think twice when he agrees to become Becca’s other half.

But the best man becoming the bridegroom is more than a little complicated because Arthur ‘Fitz’ Fitzwilliam is playing with his own set of rules, making their sham of a marriage a bevy of sexual tension, overwhelming and messy feelings that unfortunately begin to feel far too real for this sham of a marriage.

Even though the idea of proving that a fake marriage to a total stranger is the real thing is pretty much impossible, it’s the way Fitz and Becca work together to make things believable, attempting to convince those around them that they’re in love and devoted to each other, that begins to blur the lines, allowing feelings to grow with each witty conversation, humorous interaction, and the ‘gods of sexual tension’ creating quite the connection between these two.

Becca and Fitz couldn’t be more opposite and while that whole opposites attract idea definitely rings true with these two, it’s not smoothly sailing after the I Dos because they don’t know each other on any significant level, which means that assumptions and perceptions can be misguided causing miscommunication and misunderstandings to dictate more than they should because while Fitz was only supposed to be the best man at Becca’s wedding, his new role is everything they never knew they wanted, but more importantly, needed.

Lila Monroe’s Billionaire Bachelors series has been a collection of humorous, steamy, and good natured reads that will make readers laugh, swoon, and smile and they read the antics of this sexy bachelors and the women who find a way into their lives and their hearts.

This was just what the doctor ordered. Having been in a bit of a book rut for a while now, I was looking for something to lure me back into this wonderful community (and hobby), and I'm so, so glad I stumbled across this.

I've read some of Monroe's work on and off over the years, never really properly following her, but this gave me such a feel-good tingle that I'm absolutely tempted to go back and read the others in this series.

I loved the characterisation of Becca and Fitz, so clearly made for each other despite being from completely different worlds. Yes, it was a little far-fetched at times, but Monroe sucked me in, made me smile, made me laugh, and most of all made me enjoy this book so much that I read it in one sitting—something I haven't done it what feels like forever.

If you're looking for a light, feel-good romance that will leave you in a brilliant mood, this is the book for you.

These Billionaire Bachelors... What can I say... Every book just gets better and better! I love a fake-marriage/fake-relationship story and this one is absolutely perfect. Becca and Fitz are simply perfect for one another.

When Becca gets left and abandoned at the alter, the best-man from the wedding comes to save the day!! Becca needs to be married in order to save her inheritance and will do everything she can to make it happen.

I loved Becca's kind and caring nature. Her thoughtfulness and her overall personality. She was funny, quirky and just 'normal'.

Fitz is the British playboy... he doesn't seem to be doing much with his life apart from drinking, socialising and entertaining the ladies... but he's a married man now! Is all that going to change? As we read we soon found out that there was so much more to Fitz than meets the eye - I totally adored him!

With secrets and twists that I didn't see coming I absolutely devoured this fun, easy to read story!

I have thoroughly enjoyed Lila Monroe's Billionaire Bachelor series, and Best Man is the perfect finale to the series.  In this final installment, Ms. Monroe adds a little twist; instead of a dashing billionaire in need of a fake date, it is the heroine who is in need.  However, she doesn't just need a fake date, she needs a fake husband!

Jilted at the altar by her contracted fake fiancé, Becca is doomed to lose her inheritance.  She isn't after the money, she only wants to keep a promise to her benefactor, Marigold.  When all seems lost, in walks Arthur Fitzgerald--Fitz to his friends--the best man at Becca's failed, fake wedding.  Fitz, a world renown playboy comes to Becca's aid as a lark---"sure why not?  It'll be a laugh" -- by marrying her.

Both Becca and Fitz are likable characters.  Becca's low-key lifestyle juxtapose to Fitz' high profile is great.  The character development is organic, and as the two get to know one another, they become more empathetic and their list of things in common grows.  I loved how the two supported and encouraged each other.

The perfectly paced plot allows ample opportunity for everyone in the newlywed's atmospheric circle to chime in about this arrangement.  From Becca's quirky apartment neighbors to Fitz' judgmental parents, the secondary characters provide plenty of laughs as well as some drama.  My only issue with the story is how Fitz became the best man in Becca's failed fake wedding.  There is no explanation for how or why Fitz is the best man know each other, and given their dichotomy, Scott and Fitz aren't even in the same social circle. Aside from that unexplained introduction to Fitz, the book is a whirlwind of laughs, drama, and romance.

This is not my first read or review by Lila Monroe! I fell in love with the first book & was super excited to have received an ARC of this! I love a good fake-marriage love story!

When Becca's paid-soon-to-be-groom ditches her in the last moment, she finds herself eating a basket full of fries an a drink with the so called best man, who in reality didn't even know the groom. Fitz is a striking sexy tall and handsome man, A man that may be a sexy brit dream, but an A PLUS GRADE ASSHOLE! ugh, be warned you'll want to kill him 11% in! A-HOLE & Svetlana Stupid name! Grrr

Becca has made the biggest mistake of her life. While Fitz may have been pleasant and nice enough to agree to the fake-marriage rather fast, he is definitely the worst of the pick. A trust-fund baby who is the biggest bachelors player around. Becca should have just let it all go to hell then be tied to this man. I mean their first day as husband and wife and consummated it with a leggy blond.

What happens next is an Oscar worthy performance, for the both of them. Sadly Becca didn't counter for the fact that aside form his arrogance and easy going banter, the man has a deep secret no one knows. Not even his closest friends and family. Becca has a hard time separating truths and lie and walks a thin line. When Fitz walks the line with her...two people is too much and the line breaks. Sadly it breaks to the wrong side of the field. GAH, my heart in this story!! LOVED and hated it because of the moments I wanted to kill Fitz but then he redeems himself & then messes it up! Loved BECCA, one of my favorite heroines now.

I am rating this a 5 plus & highly recommended!

There is just something about books with fake marriages and a HEA. The Best Man, is number six in the Billionaire Bachelors series by Lila Monroe. It proves just how great this storyline can be. From start to finish we are on a whirlwind of almost marriage, marriage, dating, breaking up and all that in between stuff that makes a great story. This one is written so well it will suck you right in and keep you up all night 'til it's over.

Becca is trying to keep it all together when her godmother leaves a stipulation in her will for her inheritance. Becca must be married to keep it. There's only one problem-she is not married and has no prospects. When her paid groom-to-be stands her up at the altar, none other than the Best Man steps up to the plate. All they have to do is keep it simple and "real" until the inheritance is in and her slimy cousin is out of the picture.

When the Best Man, Fitz, starts changing the game plane, it can only mean one thing, steamy nights and late night conversations. With the secrets being hidden and conversations taken wrong, can they make it or will Becca lose everything she is working so hard to achieve?

One thing I enjoyed about this story is the connection and the hidden secrets. The push and pull that Ms. Monroe pulled off with these characters are outstanding. Did I mention that the banter, off the wall laughing situations and lightheartedness, shines through this story?

Well written and easy to read. It is written in dual point of views which is my favorite. I can’t wait for Poppy’s story.

This is my sixth Lila Monroe ARC! I'm always grateful for each and every ARC I received... I think it's pretty awesome to get the opportunity to read a highly anticipated book ahead of the rest of the pack. It always gives me some kind of high...

So... on to our review...

This is the story of Fitz and Becca. Total opposites... while he is a wealthy devil-may-care mâñwh0rë , she is very pragmatic and a planner... they couldn't be more opposite if they try... but desperate times calls for desperate measures... and beggars can't be choosers.

I enjoyed the story. It's an easy read and light read. Great main leads... there's drama and comedy plus there's a romantic anticipation... it's light and funny and sweet... I just there was an epilogue... I feel like it was hanging at the end... I don't know... Just my opinion.

This book is part of a series... and although it can be read as a standalone, I'd suggest to read every single one because they're all awesome and would definitely make the butterflies in your tummy flutter.

Such a heartwarming novel! Best Man is an amazing and wonderful romance novel. It has everything I love in a book. Romance, heat, humor, and a hot alpha male? Sign me up!

The plot of this story enticed me to read this book. Fake marriage? Sign me up. We all know those don't go quite as planned. The plot of this book kept was perfect.

Rebecca is quite the character. She is the heroine you can't help but love. She has a heart of gold and the gumption to do what she needs to do. I loved her. Then you have Fitz. He is a great character. I loved his whole storyline. Plus he is British so there's that.

The chemistry between these two is obvious. While they are both attractive, their personalities is what really makes the heat. Their scenes together are hot! Add in the taxi scene and I can say the heat in this one is one of my favs.

I really enjoyed the writing style of this story. The pace of the story is steady. It is told from a dual point of view. The minor characters are dynamic. It is obvious some of them had their own stories, but it didn't take away from this story.

Overall, I am in love with this story. These characters really tugged at my heart. Add in the fact that I found myself smiling like a fool and laughing out loud and it's safe to say this book is great. I will be recommending to others.

Our girl has some claws on her, “how would you know?” I shoot back, before I can stop myself. “You’ve never had your heart broken.” Fitz pauses. “Sorry.” I sigh. “I’m hungry and cranky and you did just humiliate me in front of an entire roomful of people . . . But that’s no excuse.” Fitz can't help but tease his woman, “what are you saying? You’re good for a great many things . . .” Fitz tugs my hand, pulling me in closer . “And some of them are even fit for public display.” He nuzzles at my neck, and I push him playfully, laughing." I liked this book, I fell in love with Fitz.

I love it when I get to pick up a new book of Lila Monroe’s, as I never know what I’m going to find inside. But I know that I’m always in for a treat, and even though I’ve not read this series in order as I started with book five, I’m glad that these books are the type of ones you can just pick up and you don’t need to worry about needing the storyline to make sense. This book was done amazingly and you got to see Luke and Stella (who were previously featured in Mr Casanova) and I love it when you get to see how things are progressing with past characters and I’ve found that Lila’s always managed to perfect that with ease. This book has everything you could want, it’s got the chemistry, the heat between the characters, the drama and an amazing character development. Not once in this book did I find myself getting bored with the storyline, in fact I just wanted to keep going, but we all know that stories have to end at some point. There was nothing to fault in this book and I think that Lila gave us pretty much everything you could ever ask for in a book. If you’ve not tried the books in this series, I suggest you rectify that, as I’m sure you’d hate to miss out on such a great read.

Becca has found herself in a bit of a pickle, with careful planning and taking extreme measures, she didn’t think her plan would fail her. Now with just minutes away before saying those fateful words *I Do* life comes crashing down on her when she really doesn’t need it. All she needs is a husband to help save the building in where her friends/ family live…. Sounds simple enough, right? Luckily, when things look like they are broken beyond repair, one person comes to the rescue….. the Best Man… Whilst she knows deep down that this may not be the best idea, she believes she has no other option. Will her plan work, or is it set to doom from the get go considering the Best Man isn’t exactly the type of guy that likes to follow the rules…

Rebecca Delaney is in need of a husband... today. With her inheritance stemming on her marital status, she has her fiancée arranged and ready to go... until he flakes on her last minute. Now she is in need of a new a man to marry her by tomorrow... no problem...

Arthur ‘Fitz’ Fitzgerald has no problem embracing his playboy persona. British, sexy and always up for a good time... who wouldn't want to be hitched to him? And with his impulsive nature speeding him along, he finds himself offering one intriguing bride-to-be a new temporary husband... no strings attached, but an attraction definitely included...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Best Man was a sweet and entertaining read about a fake marriage between two people who didn't know that falling into a marriage that is meant to be very temporary would lead them to finding the love of their lives...
With the death of her friend and landlord, Becca finds herself inheriting the NYC apartment building she lives in... along with the stipulation that she is married along with it. She is determined to do everything she can to keep the beloved building, and it's residents right where they are... but now she has a legal battle looming ahead of her that requires her to find a husband... fast.
Fitz goes from being the best man in a quickie courthouse wedding... to the groom?! Hearing Becca's story about how she needs a husband for her and her eclectic group of friends to stay in the building they all love, he readily volunteers to stand in and help her out.
But, when a marriage on paper turns into Becca and Fitz really getting to know each other, it isn't long before the fake marriage becomes more real than they ever expected...
This was a really enjoyable read! From the sexual tension, to the relationship melding of two people from two very different worlds, Becca and Fitz's fake marriage catapults them to the HEA that both of these caring and genuine people truly deserve to find.
A●R●C ~ I was given Best Man: Billionaire Bachelors Series Book #6 by Lila Monroe as an Advanced Readers Copy (A●R●C) from Give Me Book Promotions. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.
Add another 5 Star Read to one of my favorite authors Lila Monroe!
Knocked it out of the game! Amazing Characters, hilarious story and plot twists, I am never let down with a story from Lila Monroe.
Rebecca is trying to save her home from a greedy nephew of her God Mother who left her the apartment building in her will , well her and her husband, which she doesn’t have. 5 years ago she was engaged and the will never got changed to reflect the broken engagement so to save her home she needs to get married to some guy today! Just long enough to save the building, then divorce is in her future.
Until Fitz steps up and offers to stand in when she was left at the alter just a bit ago, her temp fiancé wouldn’t do it, so Fitz is always up for a laugh and after hearing Becca’s story about what will happen to her and her friends he offers himself as her husband. Fitz is a playboy if there ever was one, not serious about any relationships and women come and go just as fast as breathing. So he can do the right thing for a few months to help out a stranger.
The chemistry is off the charts between Fitz and Becca and you just know it’s going to be HOT, they fall for each other and stupid greedy people have to get in the way!
Get your copy to see if Fitz and Becca can save the day and each other!
Reviewing on behalf of Relentless Book Chics Ramblings and Reviews
A fun strangers to lover’s romance.
I’m a big fan of this author and I’ve read all the previous books in this series so I couldn’t wait to read this one.
Becca is a fun loving woman who hasn’t had the best luck with men which is unfortunate as she needs a husband urgently. The building she lives in was owned by a relative who sadly died and in order for Becca to inherit it and prevent her and her friends who also live there becoming homeless, she has to be married. She enlists the help of Olivia Danvers, who runs an agency to find dates/girlfriends for billionaires but when her arranged fake husband chickens out at the last minute, she goes to drown her sorrows in a bar and bumps into the best man Fitz.
Fitz comes from a rich, British family and is known for being a playboy. He definitely doesn’t keep a woman around long enough for her to achieve girlfriend status so agreeing to marry the stranger in the bar is unexpected and seems like a harmless bit of fun. At first he doesn’t take his role as a fake husband seriously but the more time he spends with Becca, the more he realises how important it is to her so he begins to act like the doting husband which gains attention from the press and breaks hearts all over New York.
As Fitz and Becca begin to blur the lines between fake and real, secrets are revealed and their fake marriage is uncovered. Becca’s heart is breaking at the thought of leaving her home but will she also lose the man she’s accidentally fallen in love with?
I really enjoyed this story. It was different from the previous books in the series because it wasn’t a rich man seeking a woman and there were lots of twists in the story to keep you guessing. Becca and Fitz were easy characters to like and they were opposites in every way which made it fun to read. I would recommend this story and all the previous books in the series.
I'm always excited for a new Lila Monroe release. I must say that Best Man is my favorite and last story in the Billionaire Bachelors series. My expectations for a suited up billionaire was blown away.
I was over the moon in love with Arthur "Fitz" Fitzgerald, if I thought I knew what having all the feels from a hero in a story was like ... I was wrong. Fitz brought out a smile in me that I could feel from the top of my head to the tips of my toes. He is known to be a billionaire playboy but he is so much more than that. His off the cuff attitude may land him in the best situation that could change his world.
Becca is such a wonderful character, she has neighbors that are more like family to her and would do anything for them. That's how she finds herself needing a fake husband. Dumped at the last minute by fake fiance #1, Becca drowns herself in alcohol and accepts the offer of her fake fiance's best man. Never would she have expected what was to come from one gorgeous mysterious greek god of a man. In my opinion ... BEST DECISION SHE HAS EVER MADE!!!
Best Man is so swoon-worthy that I felt myself not walking straight with how Fitz swept me off my feet. The chemistry between Becca and Fitz is so freaking HOT AS HADES!!! If you have found yourself in a book funk and need a reminder of how it feels to get lost in a great romantic comedy. I recommend you read this book and then afterward add other Lila Monroe reads to your library.
This is the sixth book in the Billionaire Bachelor Series centering around Olivia Danver’s unique matchmaking agency for the rich and famous. If you need a fake girlfriend or fiancé to impress the boss or get your family off your back, this is the agency for you. The one rule is no hanky-panky (though that rule seems to be more of a suggestion in this series). While the first five books have a male Billionaire hiring the agency, this installment has Becca, a non-Billionaire doing the hiring. Becca needs to be married in order to inherit the apartment building she lives in. If she doesn’t get married, the building will go to the greedy nephew of the deceased owner, and all the folks living there will be kicked out. The man Olivia sends to marry her bolts, and the best man (who the “groom” met in a bar the night before) steps up and marries her. Arthur Fitzwilliam is a British Playboy who is quick with a glib quip. He decides to marry Becca as a lark, but as they get to know each other, their attraction grows. This book has the typical Lila Monroe wit and humor. What kept this from a five star book was the villain, who was a little two dimensional (I almost expected him to twirl his mustache and tie the heroine to the train track). Overall it was a fun read. I was given an ARC of this book from the author for my honest review.
Lila Monroe never, ever fails to deliver the goods, and this proves to be the case with her newest offering to the rom/com gods… and avid readers alike.
Following in the steps of the five previous books in this hilarious series of standalones, Best Man brings British toff and playboy extraordinaire Arthur Fitzwilliam Fitzgerald and zany, hard-working Rebecca Delaney together in a whirlwind of a fake marriage.
Becca has been left an inheritance left by an elderly friend, but is being forced to wed as per the rule of the estate. She needs a spouse. ASAP!! She didn’t expect the hot stud she met in a bar to save the day for her.
Arthur offers up his services just for a laugh, not knowing just how much he’s about to change his life for a gorgeous, sexy stranger.
Arthur is the model of a playboy, and at times, a bit of a douche, but he didn’t know how to have a relationship and was trying his best. And his best… well, the man was certainly swoon-worthy, romantic and charming. He was also hot as sin and could melt panties at sixty paces. He and Becca were from two different worlds, but they somehow messed and were wonderful together. I loved this entire book. It had that warm fluffy feel that only the best romantic comedies can offer. There were some interesting secondary characters and I’m looking forward to reading their stories too.
Best Man is the 6th book in the Billionaire Bachelors Series. This is my first book to read by this author. I could have sworn that I have read at least 1 of her books but, nope this is my first.
This is Arthur ‘Fitz’ Fitzwilliam and Rebecca’s ‘Becca’ story.
After Becca is left at the altar (courthouse) the best man comes through. Becca needs to get married to save her and the residents in the apartment from getting evicted. The owner of the building is now deceased and she left the building to Becca & her husband. Only thing is Becca isn’t married. Hence the need to get married.
Fitz is charming, full of one-liners and can be a jerk. Becca is a do-gooder that takes on way more than she should. She can’t stand people suffering. Becca is at a bar drinking her sorrows away after her groom that she has hired from an agency tells her he can’t marry her. Fitz, the best man is at the same bar (BTW he was an acquaintance of said groom they weren’t friends) and he comes to the rescue by saying he will marry her. And, the rest of the story unfolds from here.
Fitz and Becca certainly have chemistry together. I thought this was a cute romantic story and I look forward to reading more books from this author. Best Man can easily be read as a standalone.
Best Man is book 6 in the Billionaire Bachelor Series, finding a fake husband to claim an inheritance shouldn’t be hard, falling in love with him is not even running through her mind; until it is.
Fitz is living his playboy life, putting on a show that splashes his name across the tabloids and has given him a very torrid reputation; including being a trust fund brat. What no body knows is that Fitz is hiding his own secret, a very big one that will shine him in a different light. Becca is determined to claim her inheritance and finding a husband that will play the part is step 1; when it all falls apart at the 11th hour Fitz steps in and saves that day; but then It all falls apart. Losing everything Becca is left heartbroken, will Fitz come to his senses before its too late?
Fitz and Becca are swoony and their sexual chemistry is through the roof, Best Man is a light hearted easy to read instalment for this series and I enjoyed every page; This is rom-com at its best.
I look forward to more books from Monroe in the future as she has set a high standard and her books have become an automatic read for me.
Rebecca needs to get married, and her set up by the Agency is a dud. He bails, and here comes Fitz saving the day. She has unselfish reasons for needing to be married, saving her friends who she considers family from being put out of their home. So in order for her to inherit a building, she needs to be married.
Fitz, is a playboy, rich, but she doesn't know how he's wealthy. She assumes family money and he just dilly dallies around throughout the day with no big responsibilities. But they become close and it all becomes complicated. Throw in a guy(Brett, family member of the deceased) who wants to foil her plan because he doesn't think she deserves the building. He wants to out her in any way shape or form to win that building and make big bucks off it.
I liked this story, their chemistry and attraction to each other becomes more apparent as the story goes on. Fitz always seems like people don't really question or see him but a playboy. Nothing to offer to society but playboy tabloids etc. But he knows Becca can see him more than just that. I liked this story alot and seeing Fitz allow himself to show the real him with Becca is really sweet.
Looking forward to Poppy's story!!!!!!
Lila Monroe does it again. I was wondering what she would do with Fitz because no way, no how, was he ever going to settle down.
This book was everything. A little angsty, a whole bunch funny, and a hell of a lot of sexy.
When you get to see behind Fitz's façade, he is the most caring and down to earth guy with parents who expect way too much and only really cares about the family name.
Becca gets named in her, now deceased friend and landlord's will as the owner of the building that she is living in. But, in order to keep the building, the will states that she must have a husband. Well, in steps Olivia to set her up with a fake husband until she gets her name on the deed. The guy bows out right before the walk into the city building and Becca ends up at the nearest bar and gets her Tequila buzz going. She starts conversing with the "best man", of whom was just a stand in and did not know the groom to be, and ends up back at city hall and saying "I do" with minutes to spares before closing.
You will absolutely love this book. It's a total page turner for sure and well worth more than those 5 measly stars.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and series!!
Fitz and Becca have MAJOR chemistry and even though they were brought together in a weird way, have an amazing connection!
Becca is in a little bit of a pickle. She needs a husband and ASAP. She went through a hush hush company that specializes in it and the groom decided to have cold feet. Well the not-so-groom's witness was actually a guy he was having drinks with before and happens to be one of the most popular guys in the city-Fitz.
Fitz is not sure of his place, after his best buddy ends up settling down everything tends to be a little bit boring. He sees Becca's panic and ends up marrying her after seeing how much she needs this and how completely selfless her reasonings are.
We find so much out about the two characters, there is so much more to the playboy not-so-bachelor and his hidden depths are pretty freaking amazing. It is not just the plot, but the playful banter, intense and steamy chemistry, and interactions that make this book absolutely amazing.
5 outta 5 from me!
PS: I received this book as an Arc in return for my honest feedback.
There is only one little thing that bothered me while reading the book. It was early in the story and I can say that it wasn't that awful and unforgivable. The day after Fitz and Becca got married, she goes to his apartment to find him and he had just taken a shower after he had slept with some random woman. So while he had no obligation to Becca or sense of royalty, I found it very weird and awkward. I mean, he married Becca, left her at home and went to find a hookup? I don't understand that.
Other than that, I didn't a problem with anything that was in the book. I saw a twist coming and it was nice to have my thoughts confirmed. I loved Fitz's groveling and everything he did to get Becca back. These two had a somewhat rocky relationship, but they worked things out and I liked them together. Becca is learning that Fitz is not just a playboy and he has substance and Fitz was winning me and Beca over as I was turning each page. The author did a good job with this book and the series is still good after 6 books.
Spoiler question, do not read ahead if you haven't read the book.
How did Brent know that Becca had used Olivia's services and was able to trap Fitz?
