Men and women can be friends. At least that’s what I’ve been telling myself since George walked into my life. We bicker as much as we have each other’s backs. We’re inseparable. So, she left to find herself and I feel like I can’t breathe without her. It’s okay, it’s only temporary. But when she walks back into my life, it’s on the arm of a stranger. Her fiancé. Seriously, I just realized I'm in love with her and she's engaged?
I have six weeks to convince George we’re meant to be together—not only in the kitchen or be forced to watch her marry another man. Time is running out, and soon, she’ll be gone from my life. I’m risking everything, will that be enough?
Someday, Somehow is a sexy romantic comedy that’s equal parts funny and flirty. Made of Honor clashes with When Harry Met Sally in a sweet and seductive love story of hopeful hearts and second chances. Bring the laughs and the tissues!
Claudia is an award-winning, USA Today bestselling author. She writes alluring, thrilling stories about complicated women and the men who take their breath away. She lives in Denver, Colorado with her husband and her youngest two children. She has a sweet Bichon, Macey, who thinks she's the ruler of the house. She's only partially right. When Claudia is not writing, you can find her reading, knitting, or just hanging out with her family. At night, she likes to binge watch shows with her equally geeky husband.
Someday, Somehow is a fun, slow burn friends to lovers romance that will have you wondering how on earth it took these two so long to finally get together. I'm not kidding either, this book takes place over twelve years, TWELVE YEARS, if that isn't a slow burn I really don't know what is.
I love a good friends-to-lovers romance and this one was just what the doctor ordered. Auggie met George when he "bumped" into her at a coffee shop then again at a college party. The chemistry was there right at the start and after a kiss they, well actually George, says she just wants to be friends. YIKES Auggie was Friend Zoned almost immediately but you know what, it's what they both needed.
I really loved watching their friendship bloom but I will admit there were times I was frustrated that Auggie didn't notice that George's feelings were changing.....can I say typical male without pissing anyone off?
Claudia Burgoa is a favorite author of mine I love just about everything she writes, my one and only discontent with this story was that the slow burn burned so slowly we didn't have nearly as much sexy time as we normally would have had which is sad because Auggie and George really needed more sexy time together.
If you enjoy a good friends to lovers romance, or even a romance that revolves around food, because I'll tell you there was a whole lot of cooking going on and it had me hungry all the time, I would recommend this book to you.
Love doesn't come easy for George (Georgia) and Auggie. But friendship does. This is the slow-burn magic of a missed opportunities story that Claudia Burgoa provides to readers.
The author gives you a look at how the two grow up and never are on the same page at the same time when it comes to falling in love. We get to see them have all their dreams come true except the one in their hearts. It's 12 years of supporting each other and their dreams. However, something holds them both back to admitting what everyone can see happening before their eyes. When people say with age comes wisdom -in Auggie and George's case - with age comes recognizing your soulmate.
I love Ms Burgoa's storytelling takes the best of finally coming to your senses for the hero and heroine to get their happily ever after.
This story is an absolutely beautiful slow burn. From the very beginning I was drawn into this story. It's prologue is set in the present day, but that not where this story starts. Its an almost clean romance that despite what you may be thinking had no cheating.
Auggie is absolutely clueless, through out the whole story there is so much love shining through. Even though he thinks that he doesn't deserve it and that he will never be good enough it is painfully obvious he is in love with his best friend. tak George is almost as clueless but in a different aspect, when it comes tough decisions, it's hard for her to see what the outcome may look like. The attraction for her isn't as as obvious until she leaves to go explore talents she never knew she had. It's sorta like a "it creeped up on you" moment for both the character and the reader, but when you see it, you can't miss it throughout the rest of the story.
This story focused not on the psychical aspects of a romantic relationship, but more on the platonicness that was their friendship and the bond they formed a twelve year span.
I dug this concept, there was enough in each year for you to know and understand exactly who these characters are, previous relations are discussed but never explored because they don't matter. What you get is the important parts of Auggie and George, to know where they are headed and to use your imagination to explore the potentials of those years. I love that everything isn't laid out for you.
Claudia has done an epic job with this story and you wont be disappointed, or at least I hope you wont, cause I personally loved it.
Not my first read by the author, and I have to say that it was an impulse jump. That said, because it involves another man and all that. Kind of was a little scared to jump in, triangles are one of my triggers. Luckily this wasn't to the point where I couldn't read it. It was a little different for me, I unfortunately couldn't connect to I don;t know if it was the characters or the story. Either way, that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it, it was just a little different for me...the tone.
Auggie is a man who took it slow, didn't believe and put it off...until the end when he now not only didn't have a chance again but time was not on his side. So he set's out to be the best for HER and show her that now he is serious. George or Georgie is, I don't know how to express her. She is very indecisive, and of course smart and beautiful yes. Reflective and I feel for her because of the choices she had to make...it's a very VERY SLOW burn, it more focuses on the friendship aspect because they have been in each other lives for over a decade. Basically you get the whole story, all the years and all the information you'd want. If you want slow burn, angsty, friends-to-lovers, little bit of a triangle, and lot's of laughter. This one is for you!
This story is an awesome slow burn best-friends to lovers' book with its own unique twists and turns to it. This story is told over the span of 12 years.
Georgia Jones, or George as she is known to everyone, leaves home to go to college. This is where she meets Agustin Beltran, or Auggie as he is known by friends and family. Their first meeting is not a great one, their second starts off bad as well. But as they sit and talk, they just click forming a mutual bond over food. George is lonely and in need of a friend she can count on, and Auggie agrees to be that friend.
Their friendship continues to grow over the years into something remarkable. They are there for each other, they read each other like no-one else can. It is amazing to be able to be in the moment with them and enjoy how their relationship develops. As the years go on, Auggie pushes George to become a chef knowing it is her calling.
Over the years the relationship between Auggie and George goes up and down, pushing and pulling. One falling for the other without the other knowing. While George is away for culinary school, she discovers that she is hopelessly in love with her best friend. It isn’t until years later that Auggie has this same realisation. But it is too late, George had already given up waiting for him.
I have never wanted to kick a character in the butt before, but boy... did Auggie need a swift kick. He buries himself under so much work he can barely breath. He is blind to the fact George and him are PERFECT for each other, until it is too late.
I love that this story isn’t heavily focused on the physical romantic love between the two characters. It is more about the friendship they share. The fact that regardless of what happens they are there for each other no matter what.
The final chapter and epilogue of this book are a fantastic conclusion to the story. It felt like a natural progression for the two characters despite what is going on around them and really between them.
Sometimes love comes so furtively that it can go unnoticed, even if the signs are in front of you, blinking almost imperceptibly and increasing over the years.
Auggie and Georgia are two people who meet accidentally. Then they meet again "casually." In the first meeting it was not good at all. Georgia has a wrong perception of Auggie, which changes in the second encounter and gives way to a friendship that grows with each passing day. A sublime and solid friendship. The kind of friendship where you meet your close family, which becomes yours.
Both feel so sympathetic that they share all their dreams, worries, the events of daily life, their fears and insecurities, their triumphs and failures in all areas. They feel that nothing is missing because they both fill all the spaces in their lives and hearts. One day Georgia decides to meet a goal and leaves on the other side of the continent. That separation is enough to realize that feelings of friendship have grown to become something else. Because without realizing it, Auggie got under her skin and conquered her heart.
I loved Auggie's personality from the beginning. It is lovely, cheerful, adorable. Georgia is a bit shy but independent. Although I can describe the story as a slow burn romance, I think it took a long time to realize that they had fallen in love. Even so, you will love this best friends to lovers story like me.
This story takes place over 12 years, but the flow and the rhythm of this story is beautifully done! The characters are so well written that you feel like you truly know them.
This is the story of Auggie and George, this is their story of friendship that is honest and true and not always hearts and flowers. They meet in college and they grow together and sometimes apart over the years. I loved how their friendship trumps everything. I admired how both Auggie and George only wanted each other's happiness even at the expense of their own feelings.
I was rooting for them throughout the story, I was also wanting to shake both of them at times and tell them to see what is right in front of them. But it took years and growth, on both their parts, to finally realize what their friendship truly was!
Family means everything to these two and I loved how even the secondary characters play such a phenomenal role in this story.
Ms. Burgoa never fails to amaze me with her writing talents! This is such a well rounded, well-written story about the true meaning of friendship and family.
This was a slow burn, like snails pace friendship that results in something by the end (90%!!!) I wouldn’t call this a romance because it just took eons to get to any semblance of heat between the MCs. I loved Auggie and George so much and wished this story was done differently so I could enjoy them together together. We spent the majority of the story in the past and could of used lots more time in the present. Side characters were great. There’s lots of cooking in this and I took away a great recipe! Yum. 2.5 stars.
I don’t think I can put into words just how boring this story was, and just how stupid I found this heroine to be.
*VERY MINOR SPOILERS*
This book is torturously slow.
And I don’t mean “slow” in that delicious, slow-burn kind of way. No. I love slow burns, they are my favorite type of romance. I love the achingly slow build between characters, the way it tugs painfully at your heart in the best way. All that delayed gratification that comes from a slow building romance.
But the key word there? Build. B-U-I-L-D.
This? Was not that.
This is 75% of repetitive nothing. Seriously. The first maybe 3/4ths of this book is.... nothingness. NOTHINGNESS. Two platonic friends who, chapter after chapter, are reiterating just how completely platonic they are. No lingering looks, no building tension, no smoking chemistry... not even an interesting storyline during that whole first chunk.
It is mundane, day-by-day reinforcement that these two are buds. Bros. Sure, he’s a sweet dude who is kind and takes good care of her, treats her well, but the point was hammered home: FRIEND FRIEND FRIEND. Not even an inner monologue suggesting either of them feels more.
Yes, he’s quite fond of her in his inner monologue. He thoroughly appreciates her friendship, her beauty, her place in his life as his best friend. But.... that’s it. Absolutely nothing in the way of any kind of build between these two. No build at all. Literally 70% of NOTHING. Not even an interesting side plot involving side characters or anything. It was incredibly boring.
Then this is where we see how unbelievably stupid the heroine is....
She leaves for Paris, has a couple wet dreams about the H, and then decides, “Holy crap, I love him! I’ve always loved him!”
.....okay? But that’s not even what makes her stupid.
What makes her stupid....... What makes her completely, astronomically, throw-your-e-reader-in-the-toilet, mind-meltingly idiotic is... she realizes she loves him, clues NOBODY in except her BFF in Paris... and then, when she graduates and comes home and the H picks her up from the airport and he tells her he’s got a surprise for her (a new restaurant).... she’s expecting a proposal.
WTF???
Yes, you read that right. A proposal. A Will-You-Marry-Me proposal.
These two have been 1000% platonic friends for 6 entire years at this point, with no romantic developments **whatsoever**, not even a misleading conversation that could lead to some crossed wires or some sort of miscommunication...... and then when she has a few erotic dreams and decides she loves him, for some reason that flies in the face of any and all conceivable logic, she’s expecting a proposal from him when she lands back in Colorado.
He tells her he has a surprise for her and she SERIOUSLY entertains the idea that he’s about to ask her to marry him.
In fact, she not only entertains it..... she’s expecting it so hard that she’s devastated and disappointed when she realizes, aw shucks.... he only bought me an entire fucking restaurant.
That’s the point I disengaged completely. That’s the point I said, “Fuck this book.”
I absolutely could not suspend disbelief. And this is a contemporary romance.... it really shouldn’t require a great amount of suspension of disbelief. Yet this entire story read like an empty, boring crock of shit.
And then the heroine just continues being an idiot but, by that point, I didn’t even care. She lets their friendship become awkward, then decides to get mad at him when she asks him if he could ever see himself getting married and he says no.
She storms out, and the friendship goes downhill from there before she leaves again, essentially ghosts him for a year, and the H has a few predictable revelations of his own.
******
This book is so ridiculously poorly written. So formulaic and uneventful. I am scratching my head at all the 4 and 5 star reviews. I really am. This whole thing made no sense and I felt a thousand miles away from all the characters.
ALL the characters are flat, boring, and one-dimensional.
Burgoa doesn’t simply tell a story. She captures the reader with spellbinding prose, propelling her into an enchanting book world, and takes her on a journey, one that is touching, poignant, heartfelt and rich with emotion. It’s impossible not to fall in love with her characters and feel like a peripheral character yourself as you follow the bumps and twists along the way. And Auggie and George's story certainly has more than its share of twists and turns.
Their story starts for us long before romantic love enters the picture. We meet them when they become friends in college and follow their friendship for the next twelve years. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, twelve years, with them knowing they were in love for several of those years and not speaking a word of it to each other. If they'd bought a clue they could have saved themselves a few years of pining. But nooo, they had to dither around, always a step out of synch, tearing my heart out along the way and ripping it to shreds before it was all said and done. And I loved every minute of it!
I’m not sure the last time I spent the majority of my reading time in such agony with a maniacal desperation to finally get the H/h together! There’s something so beautifully flawed and human about these two characters that effortlessly endears them to the reader, and I’ve never rooted so hard for two characters to find their forever. It was clear to everyone around them that Auggie and George belong together, and I’m not sure how much torture my heart could take.
But thank heavens for romance, because we know that guarantees a happy ending. Auggie and his Georgie Girl definitely get theirs, together of course, with family held close and living their dream jobs as they begin their ever after. Angsty and heart rending but heart warming and satisfying, don’t miss this captivating, emotional, phenomenal story. Your heart will thank you.
Someday Somehow is such a sweet, sexy and cleverly written best friends to lovers romantic comedy. Ms. Burgoa is the master of slow burn romance, she creates magic every time and once again she outdid herself by writing another beautiful and heartwarming book.
Auggie and George met in college and their friendship develops over the course of several years. From the beginning, I adored all the qualities of their friendship, I just knew these two were soulmates and were meant to be together (even though they were clueless about it). I was immediately charmed by the both of them and their magnetic chemistry. The depth of their bond, camaraderie and support for each other was absolutely everything and made for a enjoyable read. I also loved how their families intertwined and had a very strong relationship. Auggie made my heart swoon as he would do anything for George. And George with all of her passion, tenacity and quirky personality, was simply wonderful.
Although Someday Somehow has relatively low angst, Auggie and George had their ups and downs. Their character development thrived throughout those times and made an already fantastic story even better. Someday Somehow’s storyline flowed naturally, with precision and my heart is still full after finishing it. Although I didn’t want Auggie and George’s story to end, I was highly anticipating how their story would turn out and let me just say, it was absolutely PERFECT!!
This book was a fun, surprise meeting to friends to lovers book. The story was good and the characters were lovable.
Auggie is a great guy who is so determined to do well by his family and be their for everyone. His mom left them a long time ago and he stepped up to help where he could. When he meets this beautiful girl and gets to know her, he likes her but she quickly puts him in the friend box.
George is all one in a new place trying to do what is expected and go to college and get a good job. Struggling with missing her dad and home, she meets Auggie and he quickly makes her feel comforted and safe. They form a wonderful friendship that she eventually realizes is so much more for her. When he keeps pushing her away she feels she needs to try and move on.
Can these two get their selves in alignment or did they wait too long? Will they move in separate directions?
I think the time span of the book was a little long for me, I know it helps set the relationship, but it made it a slow read for me.

4 Star Review of Someday, Somehow by Claudia Y Burgoa
A slow burn, friends to lovers romance that spans a 12 year period. I have only read a couple of books by Claudia Burgoa and each book has been well written with characters that I could relate to.
The friendship between George and Auggie is real, they have been there for one another over the past 12 years and yet neither of them have ever been prepared to put their feelings on the line.
This is a story of missed chances, of not being on the same page at the same time and yet throughout this story, it is obvious to everypne around them that George and Auggie are meant to be together. Their friendhsip is beautiful to read and I love how much they support each other.
Someday, Somehow is humorous, a little angsty and at times a little frustrating. I loved George and Auggie, both separately and together, they really do make a great couple.
The question is will they finally get their happily ever after or has Auggie left his run too late? One click and find out.
Someday, Somehow by Claudia Burgoa is a slow-burn, best friends to lovers romance, that I devoured. I'm a sucker for these kind of romances!
Georgia (George) and Aggie’s story begins in flashbacks told from the past building up to the present. These two had the most beautiful friendship. They could turn to each other for anything. While I ADORED both characters, both characters also kinda had me fuming a bit. They kinda created their own angst by not being and honest with one another. And let years pass by keeping that one secret.
Mrs Burgoa once again draws me in with her beautiful storytelling and captivating characters. I couldn't get enough of George and Aggie. From friendship to that beautiful epilogue. I was HOOKED! Another 5 star read from Claudia!
A wonderful slow burn, friends-to-lovers romance! Claudia is becoming one of my favorite authors! She can wring every last emotion out of you through her words. My heart felt all of it! You will fall in love with Auggie and George! They are perfect for each other and their friendship alone is relationship goals. I didn't want their story to end!
I absolutely adored the premise of the story and all the feels this story encompasses. The development of their relationship over the years and all the tribulations were very easy to relate to and made the book an easy read.
The build up was outstanding, I loved the slow burn and I loved every moment of the torture.
An epic slow burn, best friends to lovers romance. It was almost torture flipping through every sweet, drama filled page. The build up between the characters was mind consuming and I loved every single second of it. Prepare to get emotional. The ending was PERFECT. Full five stars!!!
The more books by this author I read, the more I fall in love.
Someday, Somehow is a friend to lovers, slow burn that had me consumed from page one. I am a sucker for a slow burn, as much as it drives me bat shit crazy, I always go back for more... It is a form of sweet sweet torture, I swear and I love it.
In this book we have George and Auggie. They met in college, George, she was a freshman and Auggie was a sophomore, and the way they met was definitely not one of those amazing chance meetings and then the second time? Well that wasn't exactly smooth either but this time they take the time to talk and they realize get along well. George needs a friend, she's been feeling lonely, so Auggie becomes that friend. The connection instantly once they have taken the time to talk and over a span of 12 years they remain close and over the years they build a friendship so strong and incredible, I couldn't help but smile... But at the same time, I wanted to scream. these two clearly made for each other and over the last 12 years, at one point or another, each one of them had feelings for the other, but they never really matched up. It was never the right timing, and also neither of them voiced these feelings.
After Georgia aka Georgie pushes Auggie to make his dreams come true, which leads him away from her, she realizes that she is helplessly in love with her best friend, but Auggie is yet to come to the same conclusion... And when he does, it may be too late... Will these two get that happy ending or is it too late and has Auggie lost that chance forever?
These two were amazing, I loved the bond between the two and how it only strengthens as the years' past. It was a sweet love story, one I couldn't put down. It held angst, lust, passion, and friendship and love that most people only dream about. It had my heart fluttering and my body swooning. Truly a remarkable love story with all the feels, and in saying that... I'm not usually one that likes sweet and mostly clean romances, but this was amazing as are all Claudia's books.
This book by Claudia Burgoa is written a little differently than she usually writes. It is an almost clean romance. The first chapter is in the present, and then almost all of the rest of the book takes place 12 years prior, until it culminates back to the present day.
George and Auggie meet in college at a frat party in an unusual way. They decide to become best friends after one amazing kiss. Over the next 12 years, their friendship becomes more like family and their families even bond. The love they share is apparent to all but themselves and as George travels to find her niche and Auggie works tirelessly to care for his family, neither sees what is in front of their noses.
This book has wonderful secondary characters in the family members of both George and Auggie. George and her father became members of Auggie's family and the love between them was so very apparent. Auggie was the only one that was clueless and I wanted to knock some sense in him before he blew it all!
This is a great new book by Claudia and it comes highly recomnended! Grab it and read it!!
Someday, Somehow by Claudia Burgoa was quite the roller coaster ride. I always wondered what it'd be like to pull yourself into a book to slap a character for being so ignorant; then I realised how wonderful and clever Claudia was by making me feel this way: it absolutely exhilarated me.
What could have been a disaster of an introduction turned into the friendship of a lifetime. Becoming best friends, they made their way through college and relied on each other when the going got tough, even if It meant eventually being half way across the world form one another. With distance between them and feelings becoming more muddled, will George and Auggie figure out what their friendship truely means or will it tear them to pieces?
This was such a fun yet slightly frustrating read. With a back and forth pull I was turning pages faster then I was willing. There was no stopping me once I started this novel, and I enjoyed every step of the journey. I recommend this romance.
Auggie, Auggie, Auggie. I loved this slow burn friends to lovers romance!
Auggie becomes George's best friend after a few meetings that were perfect set ups for a meet cute and a kiss that should have told them both that friends were not all they were meant to be but instead they become one another's best friend. Each other's person. Definite overtones of When Harry Met Sally & Made of Honor.
I loved how their friendship grew and evolved. I also wanted to smack each up the head and knock a clue into their heads. You feel they are meant to be, but I suspect Claudia has an angst quota to fill because the course of true love never runs smooth...or quickly. But that is fine because you get to fall in love with Auggie and George and their wonderful family and friends.
You may want to have some food handy. This book is going to make you hungry. I loved every page!!
I received a review copy. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
If this book could it would receive 5 Michelin stars for its quirky characters that you can’t help but fall in love with each step of the way! As Auggie’s and George’s friendship grows so does their place in your heart! Their friendship definitely didn’t start off traditionally but that’s the thing with these two they’re unconventional but they’re forever!
Auggie is a deep soul who loves his family and will do EVERYTHING it takes to make them happy even if that means working himself into a lonely grave! George is far from home and can’t seem to find her passion! In a twist of ironic fate these two find one another but all they can ever offer is friendship!
I loved the amazing cast of characters Claudia graced us with and I hope to see more of them because the Beltran’s are a family you never want to leave!
Georgia and Augustin make the sweetest couple. This book gripped me from the beginning. The camaraderie and kinship that these two have for each other have surmounted the "goal couple". This is an adorable story about how an out of this world attraction is put aside for a forever friendship. I enjoyed how realistic their friendship was and how devoted they were to each other’s success. My husband and I were best friends that fell in love, so I felt the same things that George and Auggie felt. You’re scared to ruin a beautiful friendship, but you want the blissful dynamic of more. Claudia has written another fabulous five-star read. She is a wizard at storytelling and drawing you into the world of her characters. And when the stars align beautiful magic happens! I guarantee this story will not disappoint! I was given a free copy in exchange for my honest review.
Someday, Somehow by Claudia Burgoa is a slow burn, friends to lovers romance and gave me all the feels. Someday, Somehow is Auggie and George's story. Both are friends for a long time. Auggie is in love with George for a long time, but he never stepped up. He always stood back and gave her space and time. Only when she gets back, she's engaged to the wrong man. The story jumps between past and present, a bit like a diary style. The caracters have ups and downs. The story contains a quirky heroine, a hero who needs to wake up and a fun and flirty story, well written and beautifully told. 4 beautiful Stars.
I have been a reader of Claudias for some time now and this book would have to be the best one yet.
Auggie and George are both adictive in the way there story is written. From page one I was drawn in and didn't want it to end.
Auggie and George are the most cutest couple. A friendship that has just that perfect underlying fire that is simmering away until it takes a chance to erupt. Auggie and George have this unique bond that I think many people wish they had and to see it portrayed so beautifully did the book wonders.
What a slow burn romance! Friends turn into lovers but wow is it a funny, complicated romance! George and Auggie have known each other for years. But it took George to go find herself for Aussie to realize he is totally in love with her. Auggie comes back but is engaged! I wanted to pull my hair out at parts and yell but things happen for a reason and this is one romance book that keeps you on the edge till the end. 5/5 stars
So GOOD . Claudia has once again pulled me in with her words and made me fall for her characters. Someday, Somehow is a friends to lovers , slow burn that will follow these college friends through the ups and downs of their lives. They are truly made for one another but the time just isn't right. Auggie and Gorge are best friends that bring out the best in one another . A truly beautiful story and loved watching their friendship evolve into so much more !!! ~~Michele McMullen ~~
Someday, Somehow was an amazing book that I enjoyed from the very start! This is Auggie and George’s story. They meet while they’re in college and they become fast friends. They have so much in common and really help each other get through school but after they graduate and start their careers, they have a lot to figure out. It’s a sweet, friends to lovers story. I really enjoyed these characters and I’m sad the story is over. I would highly recommend this book!
This was such a good read!!! Auggie and George had sooooo many years of history and we get to see from when they first met up until when they finally see what’s in front of them. Their friendship was so honest but yet they were blind to each other’s real feelings; it was actually pretty funny at times. They were the best of friends and nothing was rushed. It took them years before realizing that they are meant to be together. Great story overall and great secondary characters.
