I’m one of four Willow daughters. He’s the first-born son of the Scafoni family. And we have history. For generations, the Scafoni family have demanded a sacrifice of us. A daughter to atone for sins so old, we don’t even remember what they are anymore. But when you have as much money as they do, you don’t play by the rules. You make them. And Sebastian Scafoni makes all the rules. The moment I saw him, I knew he would choose me. Even though the mark on my sheath declared me unclean. Even though my beautiful sisters stood beside me, offered to him, he still chose me. He made me his. And then he set out to break me.

Title: Taken
Series: Dark Legacy Duet #1
Author: Natasha Knight
Publication: October 29th, 2018

TAKEN: Is the first full length novel in the (Dark Legacy Duet) by Natasha Knight. In this we meet Sebastian and Helena.

Being born as a Willow daughter isn’t a privilege it’s a sacrifice, because like sacrificial lambs to the slaughter, for many generations the Scafoni family have had the rights to come in and choose a Willow daughter of their liking. One that will be handed down to each of the other brothers once her year is up with the eldest.

On one such event on the quadruplets twenty-first birthdays Helena and her three sisters are paraded on a podium awaiting their demise, Helena didn't think she would be chosen, standing up on the podium amongst her three flawless beautiful sisters, unsullied, and then there's her, the ugly duckling amongst them and a non virgin should've mean't she wouldn't be chosen.

But that's not the case. Sebastian the eldest Scafoni heir wasn't taken in by the beauty radiating off the other three sisters, with Helena he could see a darkness and rebellion burning within her depth which piqued his interest. She's the one he decides on, she's flawed, she's perfectly imperfect, and he knows she will fight him tooth and nail. And that is the kind of challenge he's looking for.

I couldn’t wrap my head around Sebastian, friend or foe? An enigma, born into a family that did despicable things generation after generation. Hot and cold, loving one minute, hard the next.

Helena the ugly Willow duckling with a backbone, she fought tooth and nail not to succumb to her situation she was forced into. Unyielding, a lioness that fought for the rights and wrong doings inflicted on the Willow girls of generations past that were all kidnaped, and raped before her.

I will find some way to end this. I won't condemn my daughters to this fate. My nieces. My granddaughters.

This was so undeniably good!! Dark, but not too dark, gritty enough to keep you racing through the pages, the feels came no matter what. Hooked from the get go, I couldn’t put it down. I'll even forgive the author for throwing me over the cliffy because I know that the second book isn't too far away.

Not only was I bogged down by other books I had to read, but there are only so many hours in a day and adding another story wasn't the smartest thing I could do. However, I knew if I missed this one, I'd live to regret it. After reading it, I'm 100% sure of that fact. All I can think about now is getting my hands on book two, Torn.

Wanna know how you can tell if an author is truly badass? It's when you can hate the heroine and still give the book five stars!!

At the age of 16, Helena Willow found out some hard truths about her family. Her life was not entirely her own and at the age of 21, she stood the possibility of being taken . The Willows and the Scafonis had a long-standing tradition - the eldest Scafoni son was allowed to pick out his very own virgin Willow girl to share with his brothers. She was to be theirs for one year each and then returned. Planning ahead, Helena decided to take herself out of the running. She was one of a quadruplet and thought her non-virgin status and the fact that she looked nothing like her blond haired sisters would make her undesirable.

Seriously girl, have you learned nothing in your young life? Everyone knows that the girl who sticks out is the chosen one. Might as well have had a spotlight on you and angels singing to announce your presence.

"You're my only ally in this house?...Then what will I do when my enemies strike?"

Sebastian's eyes caught a glimpse of Helena and there was no turning back. He knew, despite her lack of purity, that she was the one he needed. But what was once a relationship built on hate and duty soon became something neither of them could have ever predicted.

"Because no matter what, Sebastian, you are a Scafoni and I am a Willow. We aren't friends. We're enemies."

I found myself often annoyed by Helena's feeble attempts to assert some form of power over her situation and I laughed at inappropriate moments because of the rhetoric that was prevalent in her perspective. She was hard to empathize with and I happened to enjoy the many ways in which Sebastian tormented her. I'm the last person to use the phrase "she asked for it", however, she kinda did. At least her continued idiocy was something that Sebastian found attractive. He loved her fire, her sass, and her refusal to admit defeat. I think I did too.

... with her, I can't ever get enough. I can't ever get close enough.

Taken was dark, mysterious, and absolutely captivating. You'll find that while the author has gifted us with a lot of information to explain certain events, the further you delve into this story, the more questions you'll have. I'm still uncertain of Sebastian's motivations, the inner workings of his familial relationships, and the meaning of the sick games some of these characters are playing. With an ending that truly had me hanging on the proverbial cliff, Torn can't be released soon enough.

description~WRITING - PLOT - PACE~
I am not really a big fan of duets or series anymore, so I debated a bit on whether I wanted to sign up for this one or not. Let me just say that I am SO glad I decided to go with it because this book was all kinds of awesome. The writing was fantastic. It was a relatively short book (around two hours of reading time), so the pace was quite quick. It was told in a dual POV format. The plot was engaging, twisted, and dark. Last, it all wraps up in an "OH FUCK" cliffhanger. Thankfully book two will be released just two weeks after book one.

~HERO~
SEBASTIAN...I liked Sebastian well enough. I have been struggling a bit lately with heroes that treat their heroines like garbage and Sebastian certainly does that in spades in this book. However, it was offset with some gentler moments that helped to soften his character somewhat. I am curious to see how he acts and reacts in the next book for sure.

~HEROINE~
HELENA...I LOVED Helena. She was feisty as hell. Yes, she did things that left me scratching my head and wondering if she had a death wish. But how boring of a heroine would she have been if she just rolled over and gave in? That said, I am a little worried about what is in store for her in the next book. Especially with the predicament she landed herself in at the end of this one.

description

~SECONDARY CHARACTERS~
This book is fairly light on secondary characters. We just have Sebastian's two other brother's, Gregory and Ethan, and of course the evil step mommy Lucinda. Out of all of them, Gregory intrigues me the most, and I can't wait to see which side he falls on.

~HEAT LEVEL~
MEDIUM...There are a good number of smokin' hot sex scenes in this one. A lot of dubious consent and punishments. A smidge of exhibitionism, and voyeurism.

~ANGST LEVEL - SEXUAL HISTORIES~
MEDIUM...I didn't find this one overly angsty. Of course, the heroine is not with the Scafoni family because she wants to be. So, of course, that creates a lot of angst and discord. Neither were virgins. There was a BLIP of OW drama, plus a BLIP of OM drama with one of the other brothers touching the heroine with Sebastian's consent. Although, I wouldn't call that drama per se.

~IN THE END~
Did I enjoy it? Very much YES!
Was it perfect? Almost. I struggled a bit with the hero and the violence. Chalk that up to the weird mood I have been in lately (lol). But like I said, it was tampered down a bit with some softness, so it was almost perfect.
Would I recommend it? YES, definitely!
Who would enjoy this book? I think most readers would enjoy this story. Especially those who like a good dark and twisted romance.description

Wow! What an amazing beginning to this dark duet! I needed something edgier after reading a few lighter books; and I definitely got that with “Taken!” I love how the author has woven a tale that includes a family curse, sex, and suspense! This story has my full attention and I am so glad the next instalment is out because I am dying to begin it immediately after that cliffhanger!!!

I highly recommend this book to lovers of a darker story! This really is a unique story which is getting harder to find nowadays!!! All I can think about is what is going to happen next?!! Time to go read!!!

Going in....

***ARC kindely provided by the author via Give me book promotion in exchange for an honest review***

Holy shit...the blurb

I'm in serious NEED...

...and it's NOT SPEED I'm talking about...LOL

Well, no...it wasn't SPEED I needed at all, even though I have never had read a book as fast as I did this...*takes a deep breath*

Natasha Knight delivered a story that was simply so pent up with angsty, compulsive, questionable, complex and utterly complicated emotions that it made me dizzy.

I loved it, then I also disliked the very notion of it then I raveled in it, then it made me itchy, then I questioned myself, why the fuck I liked it at all making me sound crazy as fuck!

*deep sigh*

However, this story of a Dark Legacy indeed is dark and it evoked so many mixed feels but then again, Natasha brings out her full power of turning smth you might think you've already read and felt when in fact, you are simultaneously drawn into her own distinguished storytelling.

So, the story starts with an incredulous and shocking act of choosing. As it appears that there's a decades long arrangement between The Scafoni family and The Willows. And it aint pretty by any standard. In fact, it's brutal, incredulous and absolutely criminal, especially in this ages...

But nevertheless, it still happened. It happened to one of the Willow girls, one was picked out by the head of a Scafoni family, the eldest son, to serve the contract made ages ago. To serve each brother for one year then she'll be released.

Sebastian chose the one that stood out the most. The one that made sure she wouldn't be picked and yet it was that very difference that made her stand out as a perfect prey...and it took one look for Sebastian to chose his Willow Girl - Helena...

What transpires next is a fucking turmoil of every notable emotions coursing through her (read mine) veins, as the events take place filled with unwanted deeds yet undeniable chemistry between two enemies....cause this thing between them isn't possible yet it's inevitable...

The vile, bursting, crippling emotional and physical exchange between Sebastian and Helena is equally confusing and dubiously messed up, I was on the edge of my own explanatory inner hell....

As I tried to understand the reasons, maybe get past the motivation, at least the most evident one just so I would get a slap of a fuckin twist right in my face...I still can't positively claim I liked Sebastian, he's just....too much, for me to unravel at the moment and I need space...lol

I however, marvel at the complexity and layered personality description of Helena, from an obvious victim, a sacrificial lamb, over the feisty wit and brush sarcasm and resilience towards the mixing feels of want and acceptance without the ultimate submission...
I think the hardest part is that I don't understand why some stupid part of me keeps thinking or hoping you'll save me even when I know you won't

only to be betrayed by her own emotion.
I should be repulsed by him, by his touch, but I crave it. Crave his hands on me. And it's not just sexual. I like him taking care of me. He can be so gentle, more tender than anything I've ever felt before.

But it's all a pretense....with all these devious ploys, secrets, agendas and betrayals...

He is not what he seems and he plays by his own rules.

Or does he?

Gosh, I honestly believe this is maybe the most descriptive complex and challenging diversity of Natasha Knight's writing.

This book is a rush...a devious, twisted, complex rush of emotions that leave you gasping for more....

And I can't bloody wait for the conclusion to this story...

Those of you who relished the twisted darkness of Indebted series by Pepper Winters will for sure find their own piece of darken haven in this story.

Dark and Twisty!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎧🎧🎧🎧
Romance: 💙💚🖤💜
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙
World building: 🌎🌍🌏🌎🌏
Character development: 😳🤬😏🤓

The heroine: Helena Willow - a longstanding tradition and agreement between the Willow family and the Scafoni family takes place on her twenty first birthday. She is one of the Willow girls and one every generation is chosen by the eldest Scafoni heir. The chosen one is slave to the the Scafoni heir and his brothers. A slave for three years (one for each of the brothers).

The Hero(s): Sebastian Scafoni - He is the oldest of three brothers and he chooses Helena from the block. He has inherited a dark family tradition. His family has foregone the choosing of a Willow girl in the past, only to find out that they are cursed and sons of the family have died because of it.

The Story: Though Sebastian thinks that the tradition is a barbaric one, he can’t deny that he is glad that Helena is his. He chose the most willful and challenging of the four girls and revels in his ownership of her. He is a dark character, but definitely not the darkest in the Scafoni family.

The story is dark and twisty and so very steamy. The history of the two families is quite interesting and I like the fact that Helena’s aunt whom she loves was the last Willow girl and she is who gives Helena so much strength to go on and to stand up for herself.

I wasn’t too happy with the narration on the first two books. The male narrator, Michael Pauley didn’t have a deep enough voice and it sometimes sounded like he had a bad cold. I like a Hero with a very deep voice. The female narrator, Mackenzie Cartwright was fine but nothing to write home about.

There are mysteries in the past which bleed into the present and Helena has dreams that seem to be windows into the past where she finds more about the history and rules about the Willow girl and Scafoni men.

I listened to the entire trilogy in one audiobook. Book 1 was mainly about Helena and Sebastian. Book 2 Torn was about them as well but also about Sebastian’s brother Gregory Scafoni who was next in line to have the Willow girl for a year after Sebastian. Then the third book Twisted was about Gregory and Helena’s sister Amelia.

I liked Gregory, though his mind was a bit of a scary place and the narration on that one was even scarier. Michal Pauley sounded absolutely crazy at times when Gregory’s mind was spinning out. Though it was certainly exciting.

Taken by Natasha Knight
GENRE
NARRATION: Dual POV
BOOK DETAILS: Book 1 of

I am not giving away any details with this one, It will ruin it.

MY THOUGHTS:
I read this book in one sitting, literally devouring each page. Taboo and Dark Romances are my favourites so image my excitement when the two combined in the one story. Natasha is a favourite author of mine, she is the queen of Mafia men and she didn’t disappoint with her unabashed bad boy in this taboo treat.

I enjoy Natasha’s books because they are never over written, there is always a great balance between the inner monologue and present dialogue. She isn’t afraid to walk the tight rope with her stories and dance in the darkness and boy do I love the darkness.

I was intrigued from page 1 and hooked by paged 2! It’s raw and gritty, deep and disturbing. This is not a fairy tale, there are no unicorns and rainbows only the deep and dark live in this story so if your sensitive to dubious consent, violence, sadism and kidnapping then this is not the book for you.

This finishes with a cliff hanger so I cannot wait to read the 2nd book in this duet.

description

THE CHARACTERS:
Sebastian is a dark and mysterious one, just when he reveals a redeemable quality he bares his Jagged teeth again. He is possessive and protective, broody and brutal. Head of the family comes at a sacrifice but is Sebastian able to see it through to the end?

Helena Strong, sassy and not afraid to fight, despite her weakness for Sebastian she is prepared for battle. Helena struggles to define fact from fiction, and after the ultimate betrayal from her family she needs to re access what she has been told and whether it’s the truth.

This is a book that offers sexual intensity along with romance and character chemistry that sizzles! It’s a well written erotic romance and it contains all the heat I've come to count on from one of my favorite authors! Natasha Knight knows how to write a story that draws the reader in and keeps their interest.
I fell in love with the characters and the sex scenes were…blood boiling! Helena manages to pull through her introduction to DS with inner strength. She is a feisty submissive that embodies some beautiful contradictions. She always answers back but Sebastian is utterly charming when he finally makes her obey his orders.
If you like drama, enemies to lovers trope, a little kink in your erotica, intriguing plots and huge cliffhangers then this comes highly recommended.

In short:
Hero 5/5 | Heroine 5/5 | Plot (Point, Originality) 4/5 | Writing Style 4/5 | Steam 4/5 | Romance 4/5 | Angst-Suspense 4/5 | Darkness 3/5 | Humor 0/5 | Secondary Characters 5/5 | Drama-Conflict 5/5 | Mystery 0/5 | Twists 5/5 | Pacing Fast | Action 3/5

Taken by Natasha knight is the first book I've read by this author and I will have to read book 2 of this series just to see how it ends because what a cliffhanger that is,but I felt it was similar to another series I've read before (indebted by pepper winters) I think if I never read that series first I would of enjoyed this more .This is an edge of your seat, frustrating ,who the hell are these people kind of book with an extremely lot of smut, 2 step brothers and an evil stepmother.
I would really recommend this book if you haven't read the indebted series and I would of gave 5 🌟 for it had i read this first💖

Taken is the first book I've read by Natasha Knight.

𝑨𝒍𝒍 𝑰 𝒂𝒎 𝒊𝒔 𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝑾𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒐𝒘 𝑮𝒊𝒓𝒍. 𝑯𝒊𝒔 𝑾𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒐𝒘 𝑾𝒉𝒊𝒑𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑮𝒊𝒓𝒍. 𝑯𝒐𝒘 𝒎𝒖𝒄𝒉 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒐𝒃𝒗𝒊𝒐𝒖𝒔 𝒅𝒐 𝑰 𝒏𝒆𝒆𝒅 𝒊𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆?

For generations poor Willow girls have been taken by Scafoni men, the oldest one, to pay for a debt that is owed. They are to live and be ruled by them for a few years. The woman is made to be broken and is only a play thing, a toy... used and then passed on to the next brother in line.

Sebastian has his chosen set out for him. 3 meek blondes and one feisty dark haired beauty. The feisty one is shackled and cuffed on her block. Her cloth is stained so she shouldn't be his pick, but he isn't wanting easy. He wants a challenge. He doesn't want a girl that will be easily broken. He wants a play thing that will keep up with him.

Helena, the dark haired one is the chosen one. Her life is now not her own. She is property. She is a vessel for someone else's desires and darkest needs.

Her time at the Scafoni estate isn't pleasant. She thought she had a grasp on how it would be for a Willow girl, but ultimately she had no clue.
She soon realizes that she is in this game, alone. Close to broken, but not fully there. If Sebastian's step mommy Lucinda had her say - she would be broken and beaten beyond repair. That woman is vile and her moral compass is so jacked. His brother Ethan also wants a piece of her. A piece she never wants him to have. She thought she saw kindness in his brother Gregory, but there is not. Not in any of them.

It's difficult for both of them to accept that undeniable attraction they have for each other. Helena's body is not her own when is comes to Sebastian. She refuses to give him more than that though. She will guard her soul with all she has. Even though his touches and words aren't always kind and gentle -- she wants him. She finds herself actually having feelings beyond hate for him, her captor, her very own nightmare.

Family secrets are uncovered, some that were sought after and some that would have been better if they had stayed buried. Feelings are rocky, trust is shaky. Helena doesn't know who to put her trust into. She doesn't know if she truly has any allies. She does know, that SHE is only one truly fighting for her. She must not fall. Must not fall for her captor.

“𝒀𝒐𝒖’𝒓𝒆 𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒆, 𝑯𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒂. 𝑴𝒊𝒏𝒆.”

Is she??

If you are familiar with Natasha Knight's books then you know she likes to play with the darkness in her stories. With Taken, first book of the Dark Legacy Duet, she took matters way farther, sending me spiralling down all along with Helena.

With each new generation of the Willow quadruplets daughters, the elder Scafoni son chooses the one who will be his to torment and do as he pleases for the next year, before passing her off to his brothers.

One of the first things to came to my mind when I'm writing my review is that it's is one of these books I absolutely loved to hate. The emotions it evoked in me were very strong and painful, yet I loved them and couldn't stop reading with eyes, I can imagine, wide like saucers.

Sebastian is a hero (or should I say, villain?) who could be Jethro or Tony's brother. Do you see what I mean? Ruthless and merciless, he takes great pleasure in Helena's distress. The thing is that there is also that mystery surrounding him, his complex personality I couldn't decipher, which intrigued me.

The author explored with a poignant realism the heroine's emotions, propelling me into the depth of Sebastian's sadism. I felt everything she felt, every humiliation or beating hitting me in the gut. I wanted to rebel and cover, to scream and lash out. Omg, I was so spent by the intensity of this story! Hot, cold, up, down, I was as disoriented as the strong and resilent Helena.

But the strong emotions aren't the only thing that compelled me: the tight plot kept me on the edge of my seat from the get-go, glued to the pages, looking for some revelations or deeds that would eventually explain everything and make it all better. Did I find my answers? You'll have to find out by yourself but let me tell you that the ending was explosive and left me with my heart pounding. Fortunately for me, book #2, is coming very soon!!!

Enjoy the ride ladies!

"It’s just him and me and this silence. It’s too much. Too loud. Deafening."

WHAT THE HELL DID I JUST READ? Seriously, I need a drink after reading Taken by Natasha Knight. No, I need drugs and a therapist to tell me why I love this book despite its messed up story. My heart. My soul. My emotions. Twisted inside, over and over. Destroyed, a million times over. Darkened to a point of no return. Taken by Natasha Knight ruined me. Taken by Natasha Knight squeezed me till I could not breath. The stormy and dangerous storyline. The deep characters. Taken ruled me. Dominated me. Crushed me. Teared me. Swallowed me whole. Forced me to submission. Natasha Knight can do no wrong here. She proves to capture my heart and make me fall in love with the dark and damaged. I crave her writing. I crave her characters. I crave the magic she conjures to produce quality books I adore. Just like Taken, her books leave me ensnared.

Taken is a gripping first book in the Dark Legacy Duet. My tongue was tied. My mind exploded. I held my breath till I was gasping. My bones overcome with chills. Taken absolutely crippled me. Taken absolutely mesmerized. The powerful story ripped a strand of my soul. The enigmatic characters took me on a journey I am yet to return from. Wow, Natasha Knight, you are a talented writer. Gosh, you are trying to kill me. Slowly. Roughly. You want to yank my heart and pummel it to dust with a intriguing book. Hypnotizing. Hedonistic. Illicit. Erotic. Taken is a brilliant captor/captive story that will hold you hostage. A menacing story about power. A magnetic story about traditions and legacies. A soul punishing story that will blow away. Taken is complex. Taken is heavy. Taken is mysterious. You are thrown into dark and depravity that will excite and thrill you. Taken is next level dark brilliance you will crave. Natasha Knight's writing pulls you into a world so graphic and sexy. Your head will spin out of control.

I pretty much fallen head over heels in love with Sebastian and Helena. They have a messed up relationship bound by traditions. It is sexy AF. It is chaotic. It is breath taking. It is a rush of pure sadistic chemistry. Sebastian and Helena are prey and predator and the hunt is pure exciting. I loved Helena. Her fire. Her strength. Her vulnerability. She was not a meek nor a wilting flower. She goes through some messed up situations and you just like hugging her. Sebastian is the dark master who will haunt your dreams. Dominating. Dirty. Tough. Dangerous to the nth degree. Chilling. I would not mind a round with Sebastian.

Gahhh, I need Torn!!!!!!!!Like now!!!!!!!!Natasha Knight, gimme now!!!!!Wow, Take made me lose my mind and definitely can't wait to have Torn in my hands.

Audiobook Review. I absolutely devoured this book. The dark undertones drew me in like a moth to a flame and I was captivated by the unique elements. Helena was all I wanted in a heroine: defiant, strong, and complex yet caring and cunning. I loved her so much! Sebastian was ruthless in his treatment of Helena but there was definitely something more there than met the eye.

The plot started to link the pieces of the puzzle together in a way that gave some but not all of the truths away. Just when I thought I knew what was going on, something would turn me in another direction. Pace and prose were phenomenal.

The intimate scenes were SO 🔥 🔥 🔥. They were intense and involved elements of dubious consent so if that is a trigger, please be aware.

The narrators were amazing. Michael Pauley and Mackenzie Cartwright blew their roles out of the water. There was passion and intensity unlike any I’ve heard before. Their inflections were so, so very good. The tone and pace just right.

This one was a miss for me... Im all for a dark read (the darker the better!) but it just didnt make sense. So many things in this book felt out of place and forced, too many in fact that made me so mad I wanted to throw my kindle in the toilet rather than finish this book so I am just going with my top 3:

1. The characters contradicted themselves all the time. PET PEEVE OF MINE!!!! One second Sebastian is dark and evil and the next second he would never force anyone, but wait now he will force her, oh but no wait now he wants her to want him ffs. Is it a dark read? yes? then own it!!! Im so sick of books labelling themselves "dark" when they are moderately grey. Can we do that? make a "moderately grey" genre so us "dark reads" people who used to actually get dark books but now have to riffle through stupid fluff with a kidnapping and a spanking (or in this case caning) thrown in to please the masses just to find the true dark read where the antihero is actually ya know DARK! gosh. gets me every time. Sorry rant over, back to the list.
2. WHAT EVEN IS THIS?? It was like the author didnt know whether or not she wanted the book to be paranormal or a contemporary, which kept pulling me out of the story. The stupid curse was ridiculous and did not belong, it wasnt explained at all and made zero sense/ was unnecessary to the plot. It could have easily been that a debt was owed and written in a contract that they took one Willow girl from each generation. There. The end. No stupid curse.
3. If Sebastian was as scary and powerful as he is made out to be in the beginning then why is his step mother still alive (because in a real dark read he would have gruesomely murdered that bitch as soon as his dad died for all the shit he put her through, regardless of her being the mother to his brothers, but then there would be no story would there?) she was stupid and annoying, and the whole time I wanted someone to push her out the window so we could get on with the story. Why make it his step mother? why not make it his real mother so we actually had a reason as to why he hasnt offed her, because it makes more sense that he would have trouble killing the woman who gave birth to him rather than a sadistic mole whom he loathes and has no blood relation to yet somehow thinks she can control him.

Needless to say I will not be reading the next one.

I swear Natasha Knight's novels are like Christmas to me. I want to sit and savor but my excitement and anticipation has me devouring her books in one sitting. I absolutely FLOVED Taken. It was dark, sexy, erotic, suspenseful and every damn thing and more you can expect from this author's novels. I truly was addicted and seriously can not wait for the conclusion to this series.

Without giving away any spoilers, Helena is one of the four Willow daughters, "Willow Girl" and in a long standing (archaic) tradition is chosen as a slave for the Scafoni sons. When she is chosen to serve Sebastian, the eldest Scafoni heir for one year, not only do they have a feral and fiery attraction but the growing feelings between them are palpable. I loved that this story was dark and sexy af but also emotional.

This author is brilliant as she not only tells a masterful story but sets the scene and emotions beautifully. I felt Helena's joy and anguish as she contemplated her circumstances and experienced her fear and growing attraction for Sebastian. It was absolutely incredible and the myriad of secrets, intrigue and unknown intentions in the story have me dying for book two. Bravo! 5 stars! ~Ratula

Dark, intriguing new series…

I am a huge fan of this author’s dark, gritty tales of love and relationships. Family, lovers – I had to forget what I thought I knew about these relationships as the Willow’s and Scafoni’s continued to fulfil an archaic, centuries-old agreement. Archaic, brutal, and seemingly impossible to escape… If that sounds a bit (or a lot) uncomfortable than I tagged it right. Taken once again on an uneasy journey of discovery, I boarded this unsettling train with eyes wide open and lots of anticipation. And, whew, did Sebastian and Helena deliver!

“He’s the hunter and I’m the prey.”

Tradition vs choice. Loyalty and betrayal. Secrets hover and shimmer through the intense conversations and actions that fill this heart-pumping read. Helena was determined to escape her fate but she couldn’t out-maneuver Sebastian, even as she pushed every button she could. Sebastian appeared cold and calculating and he definitely was. Initially, I worried. Every hero had to have some redeeming qualities – even just one – and I was hard-pressed to find them. He was harsh, even clinical, yet slowly I began to see glimpses of compassion here and there. Of why Helena found him so compelling…

“…I will be the one to break her…”

Why are things that are bad for us so enticing? Why are they bad? And are they really that bad? Oh yeah, I had lots of these types conversations in my head as this mesmerizing story played out to its tantalizing cliffhanger. I may have known it was coming but that doesn’t mean I had to like it!~Diane, 4.5 stars

This is one of the dark romances that I don’t enjoy. The idea of a stranger having agency of a person without consent or consenting to be their slave just makes my stomach turn. It’s almost impossible to redeem Sebastian for me as I’m unable to suspend belief enough to buy into...whatever this is.
I think that him caning Helena, using a belt and dub con is too much for me.

Yes, I know, it was marked as dark romance so I should have known what to expect. I was hoping for more of Mine & His: Ties That Bind The Complete Duet

In the first chapter, the H and his brothers are fighting like stupid kids. “She is mine” “ No, she is mine” ....like they want some candy and they are fighting who’s gonna get it first.
This stupidity really turned off my mood.
This sounded like some kiddie fights. And to top it all there mother is telling “Don’t fight. You all will get your turns with the whores.”

Are you kidding me? Seriously this book has ruined my mood of reading dark stuff for at least 2 days. Lol.

Then the choosing of girls. What the hell was that? It’s like some slave auction. The whole scenario was stupid af.
Actually the whole book is stupid af.

Abandoned.

"He and I, we're connected somehow..."

Taken is the first book in the Dark Legacy Duet. A dark and twisted tale, Taken is the tale of two families destined to be at war. Sebastian Scafoni has known pain and powers his entire life. As the matriarch of his family, he knows he must take a Willow daughter as his own. After a year, he will pass her on to his two younger brothers. However, when Sebastian and Helena come together, he begins to question it all. Helena is strong and unwilling to submit. When her hatred towards the Scafoni family turns into something completely different, she is thrown and doesn't know if Sebastian is still her captor or her lover.

"There will be no survivors."
Told in dual POV, Taken appears to be just like every other dark and twisted captor romance, and yet, as the history of the Willows and the Scafonis is revealed, the victim and captor lines are blurred. The passion that blooms between Helena and Sebastian is twisted as both try to grasp the destruction their families are destined to continue to create.
"I own your body and soul."
Overall, Taken will appeal to dark romance readers who enjoy a captor romance with a twist. I fell in love with both Helena and Sebastian, and the cliffy at the end had me running full speed to download the next book in the duet! Natasha Knight is a relatively new author to me, and I am definitely HOOKED!

This is one of those situations where I have to say it's me, not the book. I don't mind dark reads but I hate any sort of love triangles, I prefer two people, no extras involved. This book was even weirder because it involved the brother. I prefer my hero to be truly possessive about his girl.

Another thing, I didn't feel a true connection with the main characters. I absolutely hated everyone in this book including the H/H. Actually I hated the little whore 'Lucinda' the most, I can't stand her.

Beware -

DNF 20%. All over the place. Paranormal? Erotica? Dark? I'm confused. Degrading and humiliation to heroine. Hero's character keep on changing.

5 not for the faint of heart stars.

Am I the only one who has the hardest time reviewing dark romance, especially the first book in a duet or trilogy.

For me, it has nothing to do with shame or feeling like I shouldn't like something that is completely fucked up. Cuz, honestly this girl has absolutely no shame in her game.

It is because when I get done I just have no words for how I'm feeling. In this case it's because the book isn't complete yet. In some cases I'm still trying to figure out how an author has the ability to make me love a man that I really want to hate. How they have the ability to make me want to be that girl in a position her mind doesn't want to be in, but her body isn't on the same page.

Seriously, it's kind of a mind fuck right?

I'm sure once I finish this I will be able to put my thoughts together and write a review, maybe. But for now, just know this book is fucking addicting. You will love it and hate it at the same time and taking a break to write a very short (poor) review like this one will be extremely hard to do.

On to Torn I go, like right now.

Taken is the exact kind of book I usually avoid. I know myself and my limits very well but I’m also a reader that adheres to the phrase, “Never say never.” I’m open enough to know there is always an author out there that can take a story line I’d normally hate and make me love it. So I went into Taken with my eyes and mind open. While Natasha didn’t make me love what I normally hate, she did write a compelling enough story that I found myself unable to put it down. Even as I cringed and ranted and railed at the characters and the scenes playing out, I continued to read.

Part of me wants to hate it enough to trash it, to tear the characters, their actions and the story line apart but I won’t. I can’t. Yes, I was uncomfortable with the noncon/dubcon sex scenes, the humiliation and the Stockholmesque relationship, but I also recognized the writer’s talent despite my own limitations. I’m an open enough reader to know that subjects that I avoid are the same subjects others seek out. Natasha’s talent had me finishing this story that in many other similar books, I couldn’t. With that alone, Natasha has gained my admiration. I will be picking up the next in the duet.

Sorry, but your kink is not my kink.

That's definitely not how I enjoy sex and how I choose to be treated by men. To enjoy romances I need to read plots close to my reality and choices in real life.

I really think it's time for me to quit reading dark romances.
They are usually about abusive men and toxic relationships that are not my thing and do nothing for me. I don't get turn on by reading about men degrading women and humiliating them. Treating them like objects or less then animals for their pleasure only. Sometimes we even get to read about men raping women, aggressively touching them without their consent and being considered Heroes. This is so fucked up for me and so distant from how I enjoy sex, even in my fantasies that I can't for the life of me understand the appeal. But to each their own. It’s just not for me.

I try not to compare books but this one by Natasha Knight is a must read .

41/2 🌟stars.

Taken ended on a cliffhanger and the ending with its dark and twisted characters had me engrossed and couldn't wait for what happens next. I have to say Sebastien (who feels a lot tamer) to me and Willow's chemistry is off the book steamy and hot *winks* but overlook all that I felt they rushed into it quickly but the pace of the story, have you liking Willow (girl got b@lls) more and loving her character.
D@mn Torn is out and can't wait.

3,8. Dark, com certeza! Mas não achei confortável a maneira como o personagem principal punia Helena. Isso não é normal. Apesar de ser ficção, não gostei.
De jeito nenhum.

The Willows & The Scafoni families are join to together for generations & generations to come. It is said that a Scafoni placed a curse on the Willow's and now they owe the Scafoni's first born a pick of their beautiful virgin quadruplets daughters in each generation to atone for their ancestors. However when you have as much money as the Scafoni's you can make your own rules. As Sebastian Scafoni lay eyes on the Willow's quadruplets he wanted one that could withstand his brutal natural. Sebastian didn't want a mile meek Willow and the three he looked at would break the moment he looked at them, but the last Willow the one who wore the markings as being uncleaned and was bound, gag and shackled seemed liked the type of Willow that he would take pleasure breaking.

The deal was the Willow would live with the Scafoni's for the total of three years, 1 year with each brother and once her time was up she would return home if she was still able. But once Sebastian had Helena he decided he wanted her all to his self. Trust between brothers and family secrets were on the verge of being broken and Sebastian Step-Mother Lucenida was the one to dish out all the punishing blows. Will Sebastian or Helena survive her? Dark intense & twisted read

Interesting book. I really enjoyed the plot. Due to a curse years ago, a daughter, Helena, is chosen from one family to go live with the rival family, Sebastian's. Neither wants it to happen but it does. I liked Sebastian, I think he has a good heart. Helena is a fighter that doesn't know who she can trust when thrown into this crazy world. It's dark, so if you are looking for a picket fence romance this one would not be for you. There's a great cliff hanger so I'm looking forward to book 2. Great read!

This story is a poorly executed imitation of the book series Indebted by Pepper Winters.

Especially from a female author, I can’t believe it is such a tough challenge to write about a convincing female character!!!

The characters are not interesting nor properly thought through.
The plot is a good idea, but lacks substance and direction.
So far the whole thing has no purpose at all. The plot consists of her living day in and day out, more like a concubine for one brother than a debt/curse/kidnapping victim. Not locked away, not with any lack of food, they even accommodated her, being a vegetarian, sightseeing in Venice and her apparently discovering her sexuality. Therefor she doesn’t even mind sleeping with him.
And gets only punished when she insults or provokes one of them. It is not like she is treated very badly, as she enjoys the sex every time. So what on earth is the point???
Even the punishments do make not much sense.
They occur only when she mouthes off.
The story has no progress, no character development. Nothing so far.

At 70% it gets even more tiring.
The plot consists of the heroine’s idiotic thought process.
1. I hate everyone. I can’t depend on anyone to help me.
2. Then she goes and thinks they are her friends and help her.
3. To realise again, no one is her friend.
4. To again, someone rescues her and be her ally.
5. To again, I hate them all, no one is my ally.
6. To again, why did I thought he is on my side?
7. And it goes on and on and on
Like a silly broken record.
He is nice, she begins to trust him, she mouthes off, he beats her, they have sex, both like it. And we start again.

The female protagonist is laughable at best. She has no backbone. Even discovering your dark side of sexual desires, does not justify to be beaten, unless you ask for it and say please cane and whip me. But she does none of it, instead complains about it but forgets it in the next second.
To enjoy certain sexual appetites goes hand in hand with agreeing.
She is so immature it is not a pleasure to read. The dialogues, the behaviour, her thought process.
She whines and feels sorry for herself. She is so ignorant about the whole “tradition” and situation she is thrown in but not once is she showing initiative to uncover what it is about. What purpose and truth lies behind that “curse”. Not once does she ask or show any curiosity about the whole situation and even what the rules are.
She attacks and blames and accuses. Acts like a petulant and ignorant child.
Her actions contradicts her thoughts and the process is annoying as fuck.
