"What do I want from you? Everything. Every. Single. Thing." ~ Killian Black

Cilla

The Beast had Belle.
Killian Black has me.

How I got here doesn't matter, even though he says it does. Says it was my choice. He doesn't get it, though. It wasn't ever a choice for me.

And now, he's changing the rules.

The agreement was one month. For thirty days, I'd be his. He's no longer satisfied with my body alone, though. He wants my soul, too. Wants every part of me. And even though I can pretend I'm safe when I lie beneath him, this man does something to me. Something wicked.

A thing that will break me.

Killian

Cilla made the choice. She offered the deal. I just took her up on it. So what if I changed the rules half-way in? I'm not apologizing for it.

See, Cilla and me, we're the same. She's dark. As dark as me. Something happened to her. Something bad. It damaged her.

But it's not a hero she seeks. It's an avenging angel. A dark knight. That, I can do. I'll slay her dragons, but it'll cost her, because in return, I want everything. And I'll take it.

She's mine.

Author's Note: Set in the Benedetti Mafia world, Captive Beauty is a standalone dark and dangerous retelling of the epic romance, Beauty and the Beast, from USA Today Bestselling author Natasha Knight.

descriptionI hate to jinx myself by saying this but I seem to be on a little roll with exceptionally good books lately. I was expecting a fairly straightforward and dark "captive" story but what I ended up with was something much much more. It had depth. It had sadness. It had redemption. It had pain. It had anger. It had a well-developed plot and characters. It was just a really great read for sure.

description

On top of all those things mentioned above, it was also a very well written book. The pace was perfect. It was a fairly quick read (clocking in at @ 3 hours total reading time). The plot was engaging and as I mentioned above had good depth to it. As this was only the second book I have read by this author (something I will be fixing in the near future) many of the mafia "players" were new to me, but a quick glance through the author's books show a lot of them already have their own books. That said, I had no problem following along with this story and it works fine as a standalone book. I didn't find this one particularly angsty and there was no OW/OM drama. The sex scenes were smokin' and plentiful. There was a small cast of secondary characters that added good extra layers to the plot. I don't know if HUGO has a book already if he doesn't I would love to see him get one. As well as Cilla's brother Jones.

description

Both the main characters were very likable. Kill (Killian) was sexy as f-ck. Alpha. Bada$$. Dark. Brooding. But vulnerable when it came to Cilla. Cilla (Priscilla) was a broken soul. In the beginning, she comes across sassy and feisty. Strong willed. But the more the book progresses the more her past is revealed, and it's an awful and sad past. In fact, both these characters have tragic pasts that have defined their lives. The on page chemistry and feelings between them is off the charts though and their journey to healing each other was a pleasure to read. Last, it was all wrapped up in a couple sweet epilogues. I assume we will probably see this couple again at some point in other books so the epilogues we were left with (HFN) were satisfactory. Not much left to say, really. Another cracking good read and yours truly is giving this one two HUGE thumbs up.description

Re-read: Jan 22-Jan 24, 2018.

Yeah, I've read the ARC of Captive Beauty by Natasha Knight somewhere before Christmas time, and I've re-read it, and changed my mind on a rating, I'm giving it 5 stars cause well, the second time, the story just felt better, it sat perfect with me, and Killian Black took over my inner struggle and won! *wink*

release : January 24, 2018

I loved both characters, Killian Black and Priscilla/Csilla Hawking, and even though the story line started in a well known path of 'captive/captor' trope - Csilla accepting the "deal" by a notoriously ruthless man, in order to save/spare her brother's life, never realizing that they would both fall into each other's darkness searching for the light -
What do you want from me?

I already told you. I want everything. Every fucking thing.

Natasha took us on a dark path of ruthlessness and somewhere along the way, she turned it into a deep feel emotional insightful drama about healing and slaying the demons of one's shattered past! and finding the way towards redemption and mending in love, no matter the scarred tissue surrounding the hollow but still bleeding hearts.
We were bound from day one. I knew her darkness. Her damage. It's what drew me. I just didn't realize it would turn into this.

And it absolutely was...a treat...and kind of a surprise...

FULL REVIEW TO COME

This is probably one of my favourites by this author, each and every time she delivers and no matter what she writes I never say no when asked to review, this book was some kind of special, just enough darkness and grit to keep all us dark souls liking this journey, but it had so much more going for it than that, both characters have sad, dark, pasts which made for a compelling read, usually it's the male characters we read about that are broken beyond repair and the female swoops in and saves the day but flip that story and it's upended, this time it's the female Cilla that has a heartbreaking past which has her hiding behind a mask.

Sizzling hot captive romance!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Audio/Narration: 🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧
Romance: 💚💙❤️🧡💖
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📘📗📕📙
World building: 🌏🌏🌍🌎🌏
Character development: 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂

The Hero(s): Killian - owner of a Club that is used to launder his underworld money. Killian is a mafia connected, rich and powerful. He had a tragic upbringing. After his parents died, his uncle took him and his sister in and his sister ended up committing suicide.

The heroine: Cilla - a freelance journalist, she sees her brother Jones every few weeks for dinner. They grew up in foster care after their parents died and had it rough. Something happened that neither will talk about.

The Love Story: Cilla’s brother Jones steals a brick of Heroine from Killian and Killian finds out and comes after him and Cilla walks into the middle of it. To save her brother from getting his legs broken or worse, she tells Killian she will do whatever he wants. He demands she give him one month where she will live with him and give him whatever he asks for.

The narration on this one was great and the book was super hot. It was a captive romance and I liked the voices on the narration, the male voice was deep and sexy while the female voice was feminine and not whiny or entitled sounding like I have found some to be. I liked the plot though the dragged out Cilla and Jones past a bit too long so it was easy to guess what had happened to them. It just took Killian a bit longer to discover. Though after this, I definitely want to read more from Natasha Knight.

Well… wasn’t this a wonderfully delightful surprise? I already had a few of this author’s books under my belt so I knew going in to expect an intense thrill, but I wasn’t expecting it to be so freaking filthy too!

We meet (Pris)Cilla, who is subsequently blindfolded and taken, along with her big brother, to some basement where her future is yet to be determined. Her brother owes some money and she willingly puts herself on the line to save him from being hurt. Her fear was my fear and I had absolutely no clue what was going to happen beyond her being held captive somehow as the title of this book suggests. Along comes Kill(ian), who is the master of the unknown. He likes to keep people guessing at his motives and he definitely kept Cilla on her toes. Beyond the intriguing interplay between Kill and Cilla, there’s a dark and terrifying secret that Cilla is keeping, which makes her appear damaged, and Kill will stop at nothing to discover what it is.

See, Cilla and me, we’re the same. She’s dark. As dark as me. Something happened to her. Something bad. It damaged her.

I loved everything about this book, from its complex plot to its deep and disturbed characters. While Kill and Cilla were almost impossible to relate to, they were very easy to become invested in. I was on the sidelines cheering them on. I wanted them to find hope, justice, love and salvation, especially with each other. Kill was just the kind of alpha I like to find in an anti-hero. He was lethal, crude, dominant, dark and brooding. However, with Cilla, he was so much more. I got more than a little glimpse of his vulnerability and I loved how he found an equal in her. She gave him back his humanity. And what did he give her? Everything. He gave her the opportunity to be submissive, the freedom to feel, and the ability to finally get past her tragic past. And the sex… HOLY HECK!!

I really couldn’t get enough of the interaction between these two. There was a lot of push and pull and for some reason, rather than annoying me, it kept things interesting. I loved their fights, Cilla’s reluctance, Kill’s arrogance, and every one of their combustible encounters.

This story was about pain, loss, strength, perseverance, vengeance, love and redemption. The road Kill and Cilla traveled on wasn’t an easy one, but I sure did love their journey.

Captive Beauty is an incredibly powerful story of strength, trust, pain and love.

Killian is an over the top alpha male, who is obsessed with Cilla. Just looking at her calms his darkness and he craves this. Cilla, by all outward appearances, seems the strong type but it’s a mask. Her dark and troubled backstory caused her to become depressed and rebel. Kill tries to see past her defenses and discover her dark secrets. His deadly mysterious past has, also, turned him into a dark-and-brooding type of man with scars on body and soul.

He becomes her captor who she hates with a passion. But as everyone says, there’s a thin line between love and hate. Kill and Cilla together are explosive. She is a mystery to him. Determined to find her secret and heal her wounds, he sticks by her side through everything. Will Kill be the one to tear down the wall?

The author puts you right in the middle of these two with her words. She is amazing. You feel their pain, their joy, their anger, and their fear. All in all, a dark and completely absorbing story!

In short:
Hero 5/5 | Heroine 5/5 | Plot (Point, Originality) 5/5 | Writing Style 5/5 | Steam 4/5 | Romance 4/5 | Angst-Suspense 4/5 | Darkness 4/5 | Humor 0/5 | Secondary Characters 4/5 | Drama-Conflict 5/5 | Mystery 2/5 | Twists 4/5 | Pacing Steady | Action 4/5

Really liked it! Killian (love that name by the way) was so great! Yes, he is a criminal but he's not a bad person deep down and Cilla needed a man just like him.

Killian and Cilla's past is pretty dark and very sad. They've both been through some very traumatic experiences and even though Cilla's past is not described in detail you can tell what happened to her and her brother and it's so awful! My heart broke for both of them and I can only imagine the pain and trauma they both suffered.

The relationship between the MC's starts off as captive/captor but quickly becomes much more. She's trying to protect her brother and Killian is trying to understand and help her. They both found each other at the perfect time and connected through their dark pasts and healed each other in the process. Their love in the end not only saved them but also her brother. Love heals and restores and gives them a new chance at being happy. Their chemistry was off the charts too! This book was very hot and sexy.

Overall this was a great dark romance and I can't wait to read more from this author.

This was the kind of dark romance that was right up my alley. The writing was great, but the story felt rushed and underdeveloped. The H and h are both suffering from tragedies that have happened in their past. Had the story had a gradual progression from pain and suffering to healing, this could have been a highly emotional read for me. But the pacing of the story had me feeling little to no connection between the H and h.

He is greedy. He will take it all. He’ll take everything from me . Inside and out, he will own me. Destroy me. Decimate me. And when he’s finished, there will be nothing left of me.

I discovered Natasha Knight's work this year and with each new book, she doesn't cease to amaze me. Disgraced was my favorite so far but Captive Beauty dethroned it.

This standalone is a modern interpretation of Beauty and Beast,  with a mafia / underworld organisation background.

In order to save her brother, Cilla makes an offer to Kill: he'll own her for the next month. I know, it maybe sounds like déja vu but I absolutely loved the author's approach.

The tone is definitely dark and perfectly balanced. The intensity of the situations, stressful, sometimes hopeless kept me enthralled all along. I couldn't stop reading, needing to know how the story would eventually unfold, and most of all needing to know more about the characters.

Cilla is a strong and witty young woman (personally, my favorite kind of heroines). She faces Kill, a controlling and ruthless boss of the New-York underground. And as intimidating and dominating he is, Cilla fights back and stands for herself (and her brother). She is trapped but still pushes his buttons and defies him every chance she gets.  No need to say, sparks went flying, and even the humiliations didn't break her.

"As much as I want to hate it, hate his domination, hate my submission, it turns me on."

But there is so much more than it appears! Both are multi layered characters, with back stories that took me by surprise, revealing secrets, and vulnerabilities.

“I’m no hero, not yours . Not anyone’s. I’ve never aspired to be one.”

The storytelling is excellent as ever; fast paced, this book is steamy, explosive, with tender and raw scenes. I highly recommend it to livers of this genre. Enjoy!!!

This was more 4.5 stars almost 5, I really enjoyed Kill & Cilla book. Dark recognize dark and that is what Kill was attracted to in Cilla when she sacrifice herself to save her brother. 30days was the agreement Killian would own Cilla to pay her brothers debt. What Cilla didn't want to face is she like to dark and Killian (Kill) which she refused to call him gave her everything she wanted. Cilla hated she liked it. As they both started to find out they both had demons in their past that kept the beast in Killian at bay and Cilla was no Bell she had her own demons but when they came together they were able to slay each other demons.

A dark character and an even darker past, Killian Black has gone through hell and back. Everything he wants, he gets in a snap. Everyone around him is in his command. Though as beastly as he appears to be, is Killian Black the real enemy?

Killian Black is the embodiment of a real beast. A beautiful face and personality both scarred by his very dark past plus a dominance in everything he owns, he as good as commands a person with just a movement of this finger. One of the kings of New York's underground economy, no one's crazy enough to be messing with him. Well, that's until Jones Hawking came.

Cilla Hawking only has one mission in life... protect his brother. She pledged to protect and save him from anything, even if it means giving up her freedom for a month for her brother's safety. Slavish is not Cilla's kind, but for Jones? She's willing to be and do so much more.

There's something highly addictive about Natasha Knight's writing. Given they're EXTREMELY HOT, this author also writes with so much eloquence. Each chapter unfolds quite astonishingly. Her words are LIFE. Knight made sure that her readers will hold on to their seats with this one because the revelations and back stories of each characters are just... stirring. Erotic, gripping --and towards the end-- a little emotional, these are what this book is made of.

Natasha Knight is one of the few dark authors I adore to the core. She writes about f*cked up characters and plots that will make some readers cringe. Though disturbing some of them may be, it is realy difficult not to love her books. This is a stunning read about revenge and sacrifices. Now, if you are into some fairtytale re-tellings that are made DIRTIER and DARKER, CAPTIVE BEAUTY is definitely a read you got to have.

I love an alpha H but I have no love for one that humiliates the h or allows others to see her naked. Plus, the h had a past of going to bars and picking up strangers for sex, sometimes in the bathroom. Not only is this super gross but she suddenly realizes after almost being assaulted that what she is doing is dangerous. What a donkey!

This is what I needed to get out of my reading slump!!! Romance! Oh my God! I've missed this genre.
This book was so intense! Half of the time I was scared for Cilla (what a strange name btw) and half of it, I melted for Kill (this nickname was special and so perfect for the story).
I liked this story. The action ran through my mind, but it had a great storyline. They both had their demons and somehow the ghosts and the demons created a link between the characters. Sometimes beeing damaged can be in your favour.
Favourite quotes:
"Pain is my Prozac. It's the only thing that keeps the demons at bay. Without it, rage will take over. And it will level everything, leave a wasteland behind.
It will decimate me."
"It hurts.
The best things do."
"I underestimated the power of spoken words. I didn't realize they can heal as surely as silence can destroy."

➡➡😡Does anyone know what's going on between this author and GR? This is the 4th book in the past week where my date read has been removed from my review and it's being put in the feed.😡⬅⬅

Gah!! That was awesome!

This is Natasha Knight's best to date! Captive Beauty was a perfectly balanced dark and depraved romance. It definitely hit my sweet spot; I read 90% of it in one go, late, late into the night - I couldn't put it down!

Cilla and her brother have been through so much together; she owes him, so when he messes up, she barely hesitates before offering herself up to a very dangerous man to save him. Killian Black takes her as payment for 30 days.

Despite loving this somewhat overused trope, I rarely find myself in a position to give them 5 star ratings; there are just so many possible ways for the plot to hit a landmine.

I'm thrilled to report that Natasha Knight didn't hit a single one; she navigated the ups and downs of this dark tale with some serious talent, managing to maintain the tone without sacrificing the integrity of the characters she'd built. Cilla was strong but not fearless; Killian was twisted but not abusive. I loved them both.

As always with this author, there were a few eye-popping WTF scenes that will have you holding your breath. There was one in particular that I thought really pushed the envelope within the context of the story - and it's my only gripe. But I'm only griping because I thought the aftermath should have been dealt with...dealing with it could have added another 50 pages to the story, another 50 pages that I could have enjoyed! LOL. I didn't want this one to end.

This is 100% a must-read for any lover of dark romance!

Does the mafia beast have a heart?

Captive Beauty is a twisted retelling of the classic, Beauty and the Beast by the dark, gritty talented author Natasha Knight, who has definitely left me stricken with her words in her take on the captive/captor novel. A roller coaster of twists that will have your mind spinning in multiple directions, bringing out emotions you never saw coming.

“What did I agree to? What have I done?”

Cilla offers herself to Killian Black, a very dangerous man, in the place of her brothers debt. For 30 days, Killian owns her body but she refuses to give him what he really wants, her mind and soul. Killian is captivated by her beauty and is intrigued by someone so young to take her brothers punishment. He sees she’s hiding a dark past, just like his, but can he break down her walls before it’s too late?

Natasha gives us a powerful story of overcoming weakness, battling inner-ghosts and pain. You, as the reader will be in the middle between these characters as they solve their inner-battle struggles.

“He is a beast. But he’s also my dark knight.”

Cilla and Killian’s chemistry is magnetic and explosive. You can feel the energy through Natasha’s words when they enter a room, look at one another or breathe a whisper across skin. Natasha gives us a gritty, alpha male that we swoon after even when he is a dangerous, snarling beast of a man. However, she completes him with a broken woman who needs him more than she knows. Cilla holds so much within herself deep down. You truly don’t find out her secrets until the end, but when you do, your heart breaks a little.

I absorbed this story in a matter of hours and you will too! Natasha is an excellent writer who captivates you 100%, drawing you in completely with her descriptive characters and plots. I believe this is some of her best work and I can’t wait to see what is next for Natasha Knight!

I discovered this author on Audible and cannot get enough of her books! It was free with my membership.
Cilla has an older brother who gets into serious trouble with Killian, she agrees to pay his price with herself. But Kill wants her for 30 days and she reluctantly agrees.
In the beginning I was annoyed with her, she had a really bad attitude with Kill, but she finds out all of the good things he is doing to help her sick brother.
Killian has a very sad and tragic history. But Cilla-Priscilla and her brother’s upbringing is a traumatic heartbreaking story.
Kill owns a very profitable night club. He and Cilla’s sexual attraction and then eventually the sex they have is steamy and explosive. I really enjoyed the storyline and the characters in this book. I especially loved the ending and epilogues!
Natasha Knight is on my list of favorite authors and really recommend this Audible book. The narrators performance was amazing!

DNF at 62% – skimmed till 83%, got bored, stopped reading.

I'm the minority in this one since all of my friends on GR who has read this book had loved it.

It just didn't do anything to me. It was all fun and games at first, but eventually it got boring.

The connection between the H and h wasn't really there. It feels bland and kind of forced. There are times when they had sex that the H let other men see her naked. Not for a long period of time, but still. I don't like it when the H doesn't mind if other men saw his girl, so there's that. Other than that, I don't know, the H doesn't exactly leave any long lasting impression on me.

The h on the other hand was pretty annoying sometimes. I guess there is truly something wrong with her as she seems to express emotions and all those things kind of differently. Not quite sure what is it about her that rubbed me the wrong way. I guess I wanted more from her. More emotions and more passion. More depth. But it feels like reading about a brick. Had it not because of the H, I think I would have DNF-ed it sooner.

Overall plot was interesting. The writing, I enjoyed. But yeah, the characters are just kind of bland, which in turn bores the hell out of me.

But then again, this is just my opinion. A lot of other readers seem to enjoy this book, so give it a try if you're up for some "dark" reads.

Captive Beauty has stunned me in the best way possible. Natasha Knight has taken a common mafia trope and dismantled it, turned it on its ear, and made it an unrecognizable fresh story that didn’t fit in any box. It grabbed me by the throat from page one and never let go, keeping me up all night to read it in one sitting. The plot was well constructed and just when I thought I had it figured out, BOOM, Ms. Knight threw a jaw dropping curveball at me.

Cilla offers herself to Kill (Killian) as payment for her brother’s debt. Familiar, right? Wrong. Soooo very wrong. The layers to this book are seamlessly woven together and create a story that captivated me. Cilla is the perfect heroine: sassy, snarky, but with a breakable side that makes her human enough to make you feel for her. Killian. Oh wow. You want to hate him at first. He’s alpha though and though, but as the plot unfolds you begin to understand why he is the way he is and what has hardened him. It's that backstory that makes you fall in love with him. And OMG the hotness. These two will light up your world with their chemistry and steamy scenes. They were made for each other, and the reader knows it, wanting to yell at them to know it too. This author knows how to melt a screen.

Bravo, Natasha Knight! This is my favorite book of hers, and may even be my favorite book I’ve read in months. It will definitely stick with me for a long while. And the epilogues...perfection. Excuse me while I go reread again.

I really enjoyed this story! I was hooked from
The get go...I was drawn to the characters and drama between Killian and Cilla and Even his cousin Ben. Everyone had a back story and nothing felt rushed or unrealistic. Most importantly, Killian comes off like a man...something most authors have trouble pulling off.

Captive Beauty was an ok read. I didn't love it or hate it, I actually felt neutral towards it. What I do know is I wouldn't reread it. While I thought the intimate scenes were hot, I didn't feel their relationship was developed enough for me to believe their HEA.

Knight NAILED it in this dark and delicious read!

Kill is his name. “The Life” is his game. How sexy is a sexy, scarred, and yummy alpha caveman who is granted the name Kill? How HAWT is it? Kudos to Knight for developing Kill’s character with the above attributes but allowed him to be sensitive enough not to be labeled a sociopath! Kill is broken and his being broken is how he found the one to save his soul.

Cilla makes Kill’s acquaintance thanks to her troublesome brother. She’s just as broken as Kill. The intrigue surrounding their lives makes this story a true page turner! The characters and scenes are flawless. The intimacy between Kill and Cilla is downright tasty. The mafia angle is impeccable.

I am beyond ecstatic I read this story! It’s dark enough to feed the darkness. It’s sexy enough not to be vanilla! Uber important by the way....no vanilla!

Five stars!

Omg!!! I absolutely loved this book. Like seriously loved it. I wanna go sit and re read it again, it was that kinda read for me.

Killian is the mafia beast. He does what he wants and takes what he sees. He’s got his own demons haunting him.

When Cillas brother’s life is in danger by Killian Cilla offers herself for a month to do whatever Killian wants. She doesn’t realise how much of a beast he is. Cillas past has been haunting her every day. She’s got so many demons that she can’t deal with them and hides them away.

These are strong characters, both of whom I loved. The authors words captivated me from start to finish. I could gush about this all day but you just gotta read and see for yourself. I so can’t wait to read more from this author.

If you like rapists, you'll love this book

I read a lot of erotic romance, including some that is pretty far out there. But I draw the line at women falling in love with their rapists, especially ones that are emotionally manipulative. I was beyond disgusted with this book. It's not unusual for rape victims to orgasm; having the rapist twist that around because "she enjoyed it" is rape culture at its finest (sarcasm intended). And while I get that some people enjoy physical punishment in a consensual sexual relationship, this was absolutely not that. To whip someone because "she need it"? And then have her declare her love afterwards? Seriously? Read anything but this.

I absolutely loved this book and cannot wait to read more from Natasha Knight! This was dark, intense, sexy and dangerous. A definite must read if you like Alpha male bad boys.

I didn't expect this to be decent, but it was!

I will gladly accept a story with an intriguing plot, and a couple with good sexual chemistry.

KILLIAN is that story.

There are some dark... uncomfortable elements on here, so proceed at your own cost.

I like the heroine and her development as the story unfolded.

And I also love the hot smut. Good chemistry will equal hot smut, always, if you do it right.

The hero could have been a little more intense, and he seemed a little too precupied with others things at certain parts of the story for my liking, and even though the sex scenes were good, they could have been better, because I feel the hero could have benefit from better writing throughout those scene.

But yeah, I enjoyed this for the most part.

I listened through audio, and the narrators were good.

I love captive stories! I don't know why, but I also love enemies to lovers. So maybe hate pulls me in?

Even though with this story I had a few problems.. At the beginning I didn't feel the chemistry? Or sexual tension like is mentioned. Maybe I'm just not that invested in the story, which made me unseeing of those things.

But I love those stories and Natasha Knight has surprised and given me a good read a few times.

Although we didn't get to know exactly what happened in the past we knew a few things. Those were enough for me because I think it was so so messed up!! I felt so much for their situation!
