- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 February 2018This is the first book I've read from this author and I absolutely loved this book. The characters were fantastic and it was beautifully written, so many emotions, laughter, tears, sobbing, to joy. I would definitely recommend everyone to read this book.....
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 1 February 2018I absolutely adored this book! It starts out so sad and immediately grabs your interest by suggesting there’s more to the story than what everybody has been told. I feel like the characters were all very well developed and i could absolutely feel the heartbreak and pain and even the happiness of the characters.
Right from the beginning I was rooting for Kane and Elara. Definitely recommend this to everybody!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 26 January 2018The Road To You is the new release from Melissa Toppen and what a release it is. I had read a few of Melissa's books in the past and found her writing style and characters to be those I enjoy. So I knew that The Road To You would no doubt be something that would be amazing. After all, the cover alone is beautiful.
This review is really hard to write without giving away any spoilers. So I won't tell you what the story is about. I won't spoil this for you. The Road to You is one of those books you just need to read. Is it rainbows and unicorns? No. I went into this (For some unknown reason to myself) thinking I'd be reading an 'everyday contemporary new adult romance' and boy was I wrong. It is sad. Heart wrenchingly sad. I choked up, my eyes watered. There aren't many times that books spark such deep emotions for me but this book did.
The story sets around Elara, Kam and Kane. I loved Elara in the past, for then she was much happier. The scenes told in the past tense with Kam were both beautiful and sweet. They made me smile even though I knew things would not end well. It was young love wrote at its finest and I feel Melissa really does deserve a medal for making me remember just what that feels like to have that first love. The scenes in the present with Elara are like a sharp opposite. But we do have Kane and I admit I loved Kane. I loved his inner turmoil of emotions. I found it made him more real as a character. The connections with these characters literally jump off the pages. It is hard not to see and feel their love, bond and pain.
I don't feel I've read a book as sad as The Road to You in some time. It is one of those books where although the characters work through hell and you are rooting for them to find their happiness, its a hard read too. This book did put me in a funk until the end, which was just right if you ask me. I loved that last chapter, I don't think anything could have made me smile more than those final pages.
So, if you are looking for a contemporary new adult romance that's happiness and light, do not read this book. However, if you are looking for a book that will hit your emotions and set a spark in your soul, then yes The Road To You is for you and I highly recommend it. I was on the fence with my review whether this was a 3.5 or a 4 star read. But I think this book does deserve everyone of those 4 stars.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 25 January 2018This is the first book by this author that I’ve read and I’m annoyed I’ve waited so long. This is the story of Elara, Kam and Kane and it was a truly beautiful story.
Elara and Kam met as children and formed a special bond. I loved looking in on them through the years, Kam was such a sweet gentle soul he was the perfect foil for the more daring Elara. Kane is the big brother we read about but don’t get to know until tragedy strikes.
As much as I enjoyed reading about Elara and Kam for me Kane was just perfect for her they just fit together perfectly. I really enjoyed watching their tentative friendship blossom into so much more.
A wonderful story that deals with love and loss so beautifully written.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 February 2018I recieved a complimentary copy of The Road To You for an honest review through the Crazy Cajun Book Addicts.
I truly enjoyed this book and it's been quite a while since a book has had me in tears when El loses her best friend Kam on the day she decides to tell him she loves him and he feels the same way for her and watches him take his last breath.
Through her grief she finds friendship and the opportunity to travel with Kam's older brother Kane who seem to have a special connection also Kane's loved El for years that's why he stayed away from home (sounds complicated I know!) but their both stuck grieving and need each other more than they think Ella knows life can be cruel and wants to live life to the fullest.
I love this book it pulls at your heart but it gives you a good look at life. And you just want them to have their happy ending and Kane can give this to El and Kam's never to far from their minds.
It's a great book I truly enjoyed it and highly recommend you read it, just have plenty of tissues ready.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 19 February 2018The Road To You is the most captivating book I have ever read. This is a real tear jerker from the offset. This story oozes so many different emotions. I was hooked from the beginning.
The Road To You is about a second chance at love after heartbreak and focuses on Elara, Kam and Kane.
Elara and Kam have been best friends for years since the day Elara moved to live with her Aunt next door to Kam. They are inseparable and share everything. They are secretly in love with one another. Just as they both admit their true feelings to one another tragedy strikes. Then Elara is facing a future alone.
Kane is broken the day his brother Kam is no longer around. He is lost. Then along comes Elara the most beautiful girl he's ever seen. He is completely captivated by her. The only problem is he shouldn't have these feelings because she was his brothers girl.
Elara and Kane are drawn to each other and soon they are spending a lot of time in each others company.
They are both battling with their guilt due to their situation but can they both overcome the challenges in their lives to be with one another and be happy? Do they get their happy ever after?
This is the first book I have read by Melissa Toppen and after this breathtaking read I cannot wait to read more of her books.
This is a heartwarming love story! I highly recommend!
Absolutely deserving of 5 stars! Amazing!

5.0 out of 5 stars All the feels and so beautiful....NEED TO READ
This book is all the feels. The Road To You is a beautiful heart aching feel it in your soul book. From the very beginning I was drawn in and held to a gooey mess. I wiped my tears from my eyes many times over. Elara makes me want to just hug her tight with all that she has endured. The impact that Kam and Kane have on her is epic. When it comes down to it you feel the love she shares with them. Watching her world tumble tore me in pieces. I don't think it was until the very end that I finally felt my heart being put back right along side Elaras. How could you not fall in love with Kane and Kam. It was easy to see how Elara did and how the brothers feel for her. I felt this love down in my soul. Melissa Toppen has such a knack for pulling at your emotions. She makes you want to yell and scream because seriously how could you. But just wow what read. SO SO GOOD. I loved every single tear that flowed. So yes be prepared with those tissues ladies and gents because they will be needed. This book I couldn't put down and NEEDS TO BE READ. Seriously pick The Road to You up and hold on for this emotional yet soul searing read.

5.0 out of 5 stars “I realized it’s ok to love you both.”
I absolutely loved this book. It was sweet, heartbreaking and finally healing all in a single book. I read this book in one afternoon, couldn’t put it down, it was that good. Elara and Kam (Kane’s younger brother) have been the best of friends for seven years, they did everything together. That includes El watching Kam take his final breath as he died from a terrible accident. Kane is trying to piece his life back together after his brother’s death and watching El struggle with hers is almost too much for him. Kane has to go away for a business trip and decides to ask El to go with him, she eventually agrees. They have the time of their lives discovering new things about each other, watching El come back to life and become the happy vibrant woman he knew her to be was priceless. What they didn’t count on is falling in love with each other. Their feelings escalate rapidly but when they return home reality slams home even faster. When El faces a medical emergency and pushes Kane away he realizes that he’s competing for her with a ghost, how can he compete with that? How can he get El to be completely his? She has to say goodbye to Kam but can she...will she? And if she does will she still want a future with Kane, or was she just using Kane as a stand in for the brother she can’t have?

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Good Book from Melissa!
I loved Elara and Kane's story. An emotional story of loss, guilt and love. Elena feels she is responsible for her best friend, Kam's death and the guilt is controlling her life. His brother Kane has been attracted to Elena since he first saw her but knew she was Kam's girl. Hoping to help her he invites her to Italy where he will be working . They can't deny their feelings and fall in love until another tragedy happens. The book is emotional and keeps you turning the pages to find out if these two can overcome the sadness and guilt especially after Elana confesses why she feels responsible for Kam's death. I've read several of this author's books and have loved all of them.

5.0 out of 5 stars I mean this in a good way. It's taken me a couple of days ...
The Road to You is an UNFORGETTABLE story. I mean this in a good way. It's taken me a couple of days to write this review because I wanted to do this book justice and I don't know if I will but I will say this book is a MUST read. Kam, Kane and Elara's story is passionate, raw and heartbreaking. Melissa's writing grabbed me and held tight through out the whole book. If I wasn't reading it then I was thinking about it. Heck, still am thinking about it. If I could give it more than 5 stars then I would. The Road to You hits close to home for me in more than one way. You'll need a box or two of tissues. I can't wait to see what Melissa comes up with next.
