Joey:
They say you never get a second chance at a first impression. That is, unless you’re my gorgeous temporary neighbor.
My first impression of Theo Crawford was anything but wonderful. He was discourteous, anti-social, and a drunken mess.
My second impression wasn’t much better when he inconsiderately woke me on a Sunday morning.
But by my third impression, my views toward Theo began to soften. Maybe he isn’t as bad as he seems.
And now? Well, let’s just say my defective heart doesn’t care that he’s gay, because I’ve fallen for him.

Theo:
Wait, what? I’m not gay.
Where the hell did she get that impression?

Another absolutely amazing read by Sierra Hill. This book was so romantic and so hilarious at the same time. I was the opening line of this book that had me laughing out loud, and from there I was hooked. I good not turn the pages fast enough, and when I realized there were no more pages I almost cried. The main characters Joey and Theo had such an undeniable chemistry, and for some unknown reason from the first meeting things do not go as planned. Theo has a past that even though he does not want to admit it still impacts his behavior and his beliefs, and meeting feisty next door neighbor Josephine makes him questions what he truly wants; something new or something old? Unfortunately thanks to so many wrong assumptions hilarity ensues and things begin to get very interesting. Thank you for letting me write this honest review.

Joey Hughes can’t figure out the deal with the guy next door, Theo Crawford, 26. He’s living with one of her gay friends, and she’s under the impression that they are in a relationship, yet he’s also showing signs of interest towards her. And she’s got a major crush brewing on him.

While the blurb hints that the story might be a love-hate neighbors romance, it’s really a friends to lover tale, and that’s fine too. This started out as a possible 4 star read but then it began going downhill. Theo was a sweet book boyfriend in the beginning. He’s an average guy and had a realness about him. He wasn’t a manwhore and he preferred committed relationships to meaningless hook-ups. He seemed to have a lot of integrity. Until he didn’t. While there was some good relationship build-up in the first half as the pair got to know each other, the romance got waylaid later on by two major issues.

One, the OW drama. With a chapter title like “Dealing with exes and sex-crazed co-directors” it should give readers a clue what I mean. The clichéd, scheming other women troupe cheapened the tale and made Theo appear to be lacking a backbone.

Two, the incomplete sex scenes. I don’t know what the heck was up with that. A decent editor in the contemporary romance genre should have pointed that out. Their first sex scene, ya know the thing most romances build up to, is literally skipped over. Then it’s attempted to be told via flashback the next morning in italic. Did I mention italic is really annoying to read for pages? But even the retelling gets cut short just like about all of their encounters. And this isn’t what I’d classify as a “clean romance” either so I couldn’t figure out if I was supposed to be reading an adult book or one geared towards teens.

Speaking of immature, with Joey it really showed in the ways she handled her students, didn’t cope well with her job, and thought jeans were a proper dress code for a professional in an authority role. I had to agree with her on one thing though; teaching wasn’t the career for her.

Told via Joey and Theo’s alternating first person POV, this is a light-hearted tale that’s silly rather than funny, and by the end I was pretty blah on it.

Character Flaws

Popping my Sierra Hill cherry with this book, Whoop Whoop!!! What a great laugh out loud rom-com this one was. I mean seriously, Joey was in love with Ricky Martin just like I was. Devastated along with me to find he wasn’t available…

Theo is falling in to the same category as Ricky Martin in Joey’s eyes. Unavailable in a female/male relationship but very much available in a male/male relationship.

While Joey and Theo start off on a rocky beginning, the friendship develops quickly. Loved how these two seemed to hit it off after the first meeting. The two were like they had known each other for years.

Even though they both have their backgrounds that they are dealing with, they both come together to help each other out! Can the friendship they’ve built move into something more lasting… like a forever happiness for each other together?

*Spoiler FREE*

This is my first Sierra Hill book and I loved it. I found it witty, fun, sexy and packed with drama (see what I did there? 😉). This was a great rom-com and I enjoyed every moment of it. There were bits that had me laughing and some that had me wistful. It had a wonderful plot, relatable and well-developed characters, it was dynamic and a pleasure to read. The blurb caught my interest and I was not disappointed, I couldnt put it down! The dual pov was superbly done and the whole story flowed really well and at a reasonable pace, it didnt feel draggy or too fast.

I loved the interactions between Theo and Joey, the banter, the intimate times and especially the naughty times. The story had a slow build up and I almost felt like I was watching a train wreck in motion as it unravelled due to Joey believing Theo was gay, it was hilarious, although I kind of felt sorry for her woefully mistaken conclusion.

Overall it was a light and entertaining read and a lovely break from all the dark stuff I'm usually immersed in. This is going on my reread list and will definitely be a turn to book when it all gets too heavy. **5 BIG FAT STARS**

This is my first Sierra Hill book and I found that it ticked just about every box I have when it comes to selecting books to read.
Gorgeously funny, with great characters that bounced well off one another. I liked that Joey came to all the wrong conclusions about Theo when she realised he was staying next door with her favourite neighbour. This led to some hilarious inner dialogue, and even more funny actions/reactions from one of the greatest heroines I have read in a while.
Theo comes across as a bit of an old soul. I guess he is still a bit broken inside after his last relationship. But I think it took someone like Joey for him to understand that his ex was all wrong for him in every possible way.
Fabulous writing, and as I mentioned before, great characters, this is a book I will definitely reread time and again.

Quirky and fun!

What could be more frustrating, having the hots for your hot, handsome gay neighbor? Or be the sexy handsome, neighbor who can't make a move on your sexy neighbor because she thinks you're gay?

While these two characters figure each other out, we can enjoy their sexually charged interactions, on and off the stage! Amazing story, even behind the curtains!

I was provided a copy for review purposes.

This book was a little bit of a slow build for me, but that is not a bad thing because I enjoyed really getting to know the characters and seeing their friendship bloom. I love how Sierra has a way of putting her characters in situations where they get to know one another. It's not always insta love and I like that because in real life we don't always fall in love immediately. One thing was for certain though and that was the attraction. I Thoroughly enjoyed the confusion factor of the book (not going to divulge you'll just have to read) because it really made the book hilarious. As the reader you knew what the other was thinking and feeling and it was exciting seeing it all unfold. Once the tension was over I really loved how things just took off.

Joey is living a life that her mom feels is best for her, which is one that makes Joey miserable. Theo is trying to figure out his life because everything just keeps falling apart. Two miserable, lonely people who somehow find themselves forming a bond while finding their way. Can this new friendship lead to the happiness that both deserve?

I had the privilege to beta-read this story (my first beta read ever)......and I was truly entertained! From the get-go, I absolutely loved Theo. What I liked the most about him is that he was just a regular, down to earth type of guy. I was completely intrigued by him, and I just sensed that even though he seemed a bit awkward, that there was something to him that I just wanted to know more about. As for Joey...I definitely warmed up to her, and as I got to read more of her....I absolutely loved her. She was immediately smitten with Theo when they first met.....but since he was staying with her very gay friend Pat, she assumed he was one of his boy-toys. Boy was she wrong!

I will update this more closer to release, but I wanted to share how much I enjoyed this story. It was full of laughter and love - and just an overall heartwarming story! Lots of swoony moments from Theo - just love that guy!!

Character Flaws is the first book I have read by Sierra Hill and certainly will not be the last. There are so many things I loved about this book.I loved how unique this story was. I liked the fact it was done in dual POV's. We are able to get into the heads of Joey and Theo. I loved that they were friends first and had to work through their own bumps in the road. I really liked the fact that each chapter is title so we get an idea of whats in store for that chapter. The only thing I did not like about this book is it had to end.

Joey is a high school teacher and it is the end of the school year. She feels like she is missing something and according to her mom she needs a man in her life. Patrick is a neighbor in the building, who is gay, but she loves hanging out with him. One night she goes to his apartment to talk about her day and meets Theo, who apparently doesn't interact with people. Patrick explains that he is a good guy and is going through a rough patch. Joey assumes Theo is one of Patrick's "friends". The more time she spends with Theo the more she feels like there is chemistry and wished is wasn't one sided.

Theo is down on his luck when he runs into Patrick and he offers him a place to stay while he is in China. Theo writes plays and is looking for his first big break. This summer he plans to submit his play to be considered for a summer production. When Joey locks herself out of her apartment and spends the night at Patricks, he realizes that she is something special. After she reads his play and really likes his play she agrees to go and be a part of the summer production as a way to step out of her comfort zone.

They both feel like there is something there but hold off because of there own reasons. I recommend this book and look forward to reading more from Sierra Hill.- By Linda

Joey Hughes is a teacher who has lately become very unsatisfied with her job and the way that her teaching environment is turning out. When her gay next door neighbor, Patrick Donaldson, has the gorgeous Theo Crawford staying with him Joey wonders how come all the good looking ones are gay.

Theo Crawford is getting over a bad break up and has lost his place to live until Patrick says he can stay there for two months while he is in China. Now with any luck he can get his play produced over the summer and get some good luck. But first he has to convince the girl next door to star in his play.

Will Theo be able to convince Joey to star in his place and see him as more than the gay neighbor? But when someone else begins to put the moves on Theo will he lose Joey forever?

This was a great romantic comedy that will have you laughing at some parts and waiting to see what happens next in others.

I liked Joey and thought it was funny how she thought Theo was gay and how everything progressed. I felt bad that she was not enjoying her job and how discouraged she was with everything going on at her high school. I loved that she took a chance with being in the play, even though her mother totally disapproved.

Theo was awesome and I thought it was so funny when Joey thought he was gay. I loved when Joey thought he was cheating on Patrick. I felt bad for Theo with what was happening with his play producer, Birdie.

The chemistry between Theo and Joey was through the roof and I thought it was funny that Theo was trying to use his play to get closer to Joey. I was worried when Alyssa showed back up and the effect that it had on Theo.

Great story and I loved the ending!

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

This is my first story I have read by this author and I really enjoyed it. It appears to be a stand alone with no other books in the series. It is about two very lonely people who both have the life they don't want who find each other. Not only do they find the other but they find themselves as well. And they are brought together by their close gay friend Patrick and Woody, P's dog.

Joey is a teacher and she HATES it. She has a complaining mother and she lives in Chicago and really does not love her life. She wants to find happiness and love but she has no clue where to start and the only light in her life is her close friend and neighbor, Patrick but he is gay.

Theo, thought he found love until is girl friend threw him out and complained about his lack of career. He is homeless until his old college friend, Patrick takes pity on him and lets him crash at his place. Patrick is also leaving for China, so Theo is moving in too.

The book has Theo and Joey getting to know the other. Neither are super confident and super happy with their lives but this story was a journey of them finding theselves and finally each otherand then going after the life they want.

A small part of the story has Joey being attracted to Theo and thinking him gay. It made the book funner but it is not the whole story. This was a really great story with a lot of depth and characters I totally grew to love even though they had definite character flaws.

An ARC of Character Flaws by Sierra Hill was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.

Character Flaws by Sierra Hill is a romantic comedy and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I'm really not a lover of rom-coms, but Character Flaws by Sierra Hill won me over. I liked the story a lot and the writing was pretty good. I also liked the two main characters, Joey aka Josephine and Theo. The chemistry between these two characters was noteworthy.

The first encounter between Theo and Joey didn’t start off on the right foot. Joey thought Theo was rude, and Theo was too busy stuck inside his own head. However, once they shared a real conversation face-to-face, it only became natural how well they clicked with one another. They are comfortable with one another. Theo loves how Joey views him as a person, she encourages him, and she can see all his hidden potential.

Theo is down on his luck, having gone through a bad break-up while in the midst of trying to get his work recognized. At the moment he is jobless and homeless. An unexpected run in changes the course of his otherwise downward spiral. Joey is just trying to buy her time until she can find a more satisfying occupation.

Character Flaws by Sierra Hill receives a four star rating⭐⭐⭐⭐!

Cute. Sexy. Quirky. Fun. Sierra Hill is a real hidden gem in the romance world that should be talked about more. This brand new romantic comedy standalone romance was quite unexpected in such a good way and completely stole my heart... playing with my emotions along the way.

From that synopsis I knew Character Flaws would be fantastic (seriously have you read it?! LOL) but man did Sierra really give a solid neighbors-friends to lovers story. I laughed, I giggled, I swooned, I fell by the end. This book hit most of my marks I love in my books, giving me quite the unforgettable story.

She thinks he's gay. He's anything but. These two are never going to be the same after they meet.

Theo and Joey took me on quite the journey y'all... riddled with heart, heat, undeniable chemistry, a slow burn spark. addicting banter, great characters, and a *few* complications. You're gonna laugh and you are gonna feel... you might get frustrated and you might be shaking your head at times but I promise, it'll be worth it.

If you like your books a little easier and fun but still packing quite the punch them Character Flaws is for you.

I definitely recommend this book.

Character Flaws by Sierra Hill is a lighthearted, silly, fun read that will make you laugh as your journey through these character's relationship. Hill's synopsis promises a great Love/Hate story line with the neighbor next door, however this tale reads more like a good friends to lovers tale with a little bit of frustration mixed in.

As I began this book, Hill had me intrigued with the boy next door. Sweet, average guy who preferred committed relationship. He seemed perfect. Well until he wasn't. Theo went from the perfect boyfriend to kinda blah. He frustrated me to no end with his immaturity level. Joey and Theo's relationship wasn't quite there. They lacked that chemistry that would ignite the latter half of the book. Not to mention when it gets down to the sexy scenes, Hill cuts them out or flashes the back rather than giving the reader that build up and the moment of that slow burn of attraction seeing fruition.

All in all, Hill has been a great author to read. Character Flaws won't go down as my most favorite of her novels, however her Sweetest Thing Series will. I feel like with a few adjustments to this one it has the potential to go from an okay read to something much greater.

Joey meets Theo for the first time at her gay friend, Patrick's apartment. Through things that said, she mistakenly assumes that Theo is also gay and possibly Patrick's lover, too!

"Something passes through me from the low, sexy sound of his voice. And while I laugh easily with him, I feel this unusual pull deep inside my belly."

After a couple of unimpressive false starts, she starts to realise that Theo is actually much nicer than her first impressions of him. Instead, to her dismay, she finds herself wholly attracted to him.

Theo, on his part, is recovering from a recent breakup. He is just as attracted to Joey but has no clue about her false assumption about him. However, his recent relationship disaster holds him back from making a move.

Joey is fun, funny, and a good soul. I loved that she allowed herself to be challenged and pushed outside of her comfort zone. She was adorable in her confusion over the mixed messages that Theo seemed to be sending out.

"She's literally every guy's girl next door dream. And I'm not dreaming any more."

Theo is such a nice guy! He's not a demanding alpha - he's thoughtful and considerate. I loved his attraction to Joey and how sneakily he went about trying to get closer to her. LOL

This was a fun, humorous, sexy, light-hearted comedy.

I love this story so much!

One of the best parts of it is how real the characters are. They have flaws, they aren’t happy with their lives and they want something different to focus on. It all feels so real and it’s exciting because the process of finding their way through life and trying to overcome whatever problems or hits life throws at them, leads them to each other.

While turning the pages I found myself constantly smiling because of interesting and hilarious most of the scenes where. Although, I did feel some tugs at the heart at some crucial moments but most of all this is a light-hearted story with deep meaning on finding yourself and finding your road through life. And how life, even though is sometimes mean, can give you everything you’ve been searching for if you look the right way.

Joey and Theo are a match made in heaven and so right for each other. They accept the other they way they truly are and love each other’s personality. Their scenes made me laugh, swooned, smile, to the point I felt giddy for them to get together.

The chemistry between them shows itself as sparks in their banters and the sweet moments they share together. And of course they frustrated me sometimes but their story is captivating and easy to love.

Hilarious, sweet and heartwarming.

Can we talk right now about the freaking amazing talent of this author! Every story I've read so far flows beautifully and is full of these characters that just want to know in real life. So I expected nothing else from Character Flaws and I was not let down. Joey and Theo are hilariously a mess separate and together. Both of them standing at a potential turning point in their lives and decided to find a new path together.

I loved watching these two find who they were really meant to be as people. I loved it so much I read it in one sitting. Stopping was just not an option. I just had to keep reading! Sierra Hill created a beautiful, emotional comedy. No matter what you will get some intense feels from her books and Character Flaws is no exception. Class A read! Theo and Joey are a MUST read! You will be so glad you did!

Marie's Tempting Reads ARC Review:

A super fun, sexy, full-of-heat-and-heart romance that had me laughing out loud and sighing in bliss! This book was a hoot. Perfect, sassy, with enough heart to keep me sane, this romance had great characters that were charismatic and full of charm and life and the storyline is just perfect for my tastes. I smiled, I laughed, I shed a few tears and I fell in love.

Character Flaws is one of those books you won't want to put down until you are finished. Then you will want to pick it up again to have another crack at it. That is how I felt about it after reading it and I can't wait to see where Sierra Hill will take us in the future.

This was my first Sierra Hill book and boy did it pack a punch! Sweet, sexy, absolutely hilarious, and plenty of light hearted drama. A great story for fans of the friends to lovers trope.

I laughed so much with this storyline. I mean, what could be worse? Having a crush on the sexy, gay neighbor or not being able to tell your neighbor you're interested in her because she thinks you're gay? Cue hilarious misunderstandings and fantastic opportunities for awesome banter between Theo and Joey.

Light, funny, witty, with touches of sexy, Character Flaws is a perfect feel-good book. Pick this up and you won't want to put it down until it's over. Five stars.

This was a fun and funny read.

We have Theo and Joey (Josephine), meeting for the first time in a common friend’s apartment. In that first meeting, Joey thinks Theo is gay, so every meeting afterwards has that assumption in mind. I thought it was a funny situation for them, Joey felt super cool with Theo since he’ll never come on to her; and Theo just thought Joey was a super chilled girl, lol.

The story shows them going from friends to more, adding a little drama here and there to spice things u, and a lot of misunderstandings, lol.

All in all, it was an entertaining read.

Character Flaws by Sierra Hill
I receive this book from the author for an honest review.
HILARIOUS!! This book was a great and ideal read for me who was having heavy personal days!! This book gave me that quick 5-minute breath away from my troubles!!
Theo and Joey have some great banter and the chemistry was amazing. I mean I kept laughing and then just wishing for a kiss already!
Joey is a teacher who is not loving her life and career. When her neighbor has someone move in Joey sighs inwardly that all the good ones are gay except……………………………
Theo moves in with his friend for a few months after a break up. When he sees Joey he is all for hanging out with her to get to know her in a more “neighborly” way….LOL
There are some miscommunications and misunderstanding since ya know Joey thinks Theo is gay when he is sooooo not!!! Seriously such great reading fun.
If you have read a Sierra book be ready to see a different style of writing from her!!

This is a sweet, steamy friends-to-lovers romance.

Theo & Joey meet through Joey's gay neighbour, and things snowball from there. The dual POVs provide the lighter, comedic relief that carries the story along, where we see Joey struggle to come to terms with her attraction to a gay man, while Theo struggles with being "man enough".

I definitely would read Sierra Hill's work again, and I recommend this novel to those looking for a light, humorous, romantic escape.

Misunderstandings. A dog. A girl who is a teacher but still missing the passion that drives her. Hot attraction toward a man she thinks is gay and dating her friend. A boy who is struggling to find himself after a bad break up trying to be more assertive. Add in an ex and another wanting in on the actions and you get many laughs.

Joey was amazing. Theo was sweet. They both tried to hide behind being friends but the chemistry soon took over.

Definitely recommend this book. I found myself smiling several times.

This is a very cute and funny read! While this is not my favorite read by Sierra I still really enjoyed it. It took me a little bit to get pulled into the story but once I did I couldnt put it down. I loved Joey and Theo. They had good chemistry and I loved the sexual tension and build up! There was a lot of parts that had me laughing out loud but there was also parts that had me screaming at the characters. This is a fun Romcom and I highly recommend it!!

I found this book to be well written, with some scenes that had me grinning and even laughing but the characters just seem to be a little off. Hmmm I wonder if that was due to their “Character Flaws” (or maybe mine - lol).

The book is very lighthearted with humorous banter and some definite romantic moments. This was my first book by Ms Hill and I look forward to her next release.
