    Ridge was just a sweetheart. Heartbreakingly gorgeous but a true heart of gold underneath. He takes his responsibilities seriously, shows a lot of respect for his family, friends and business and follows his heart. His ability to adapt to life as a single parent and his willingness and determination to be the best dad ever had me swooning all over the place!

    I tried to read this once before and was bored out of my brains because the lead into it was drawn out, and meeting Kendall was just taking too long - it would have been different had Melissa been a real love interest of Ridges, or even a deeper guilt factor from Ridge around her death, just something to add some interest. Even Dawn's initial introduction felt unnecessary as it didn't add value to the plot (personally I thought it would have been better if it were Kendall he helped out - a little meet-cute, then a spanner in the works happens). Overall, it was an okay read, storyline wasn't too bad and some might day a stretch, but what are books for? I don’t mind the sweetness, but personally this story lacked some spice or tension to just give it some real interest, not even Ridge's silly bet and the outfall of that could manage to add enough tension to amp things up pull me in. The twist of Kendall being adopted felt like a thought just tossed in there at the end, just to link her to Melissa, but it didn't seem beneficial to the plot, not when the resulting conflict in her was basically resolved immediately, not driving any wedge between herself and Ridge. On a second attempt at reading, a different mood may have helped, I was able to get through this, but it was mediocre, not something I would rush to recommend.

    This has been on Amazon.com.au top 20 list for a few weeks now so I figured I should buy it and read it. I am so glad I did because I was blown away. Ridge Beckett doesn't have very long to get used to the idea that he is going to be a dad. He is thrust into a life he wasn't expecting and is determined to be the best father he can be. Riddled with guilt and fear, he works hard to show himself and everyone else that he is up for the job. With all of his attention and effort focused on his newborn son, he never expected to meet a woman who he couldn't stop thinking about.
    Kendall had spent quite a bit of her youth lusting after Ridge. When he shows up at the doctors office she works in she's surprised to see him again. She can't stop herself from falling for him and his precious son though and it seems they can't help falling for her either.
    There is nothing more sexy than a loving, hands on father. I was instantly drawn to both him and Kendall. She was witty, super sweet, and selfless. The push and pull of their relationship created super hot sexual tension. I really enjoyed watching these two on their journey. The build of their relationship, the growth and development of the characters, the heartbreak, the passion, all of it held my attention throughout. The author included some twists that caused a fair amount of angst.
    Kaylee Ryan is a new author for me, but after this book I am looking forward to reading her back catalogue.

    UNEXPECTED REALITY is a standalone read with a happy ending. This story does have sexy scenes and some colorful language. NOTE to author. The cover nailed this guy. I could see him all through the story and it helped me see him. OMG what a great hero. He was just a guy until he became a father and then it was a whole new ballgame. I Loved Him...great guy.

    Ridge owns his own construction company and his 4 best friends work with him. He inherited the company from his dad. He is a guys guy. He is big, tattooed, and a big hit with the ladies. He is single and enjoying the life of a single guy that can have his pick of the ladies and he doesn't have to work for it. He and his best friends are all good looking guys that attract the females.

    One night there is a beautiful lady at the bar, she looks lonely and sad and she is drinking alone. When Ridge spots her, he invites her to come back to the table and spend the evening with his friends. She goes and finds herself very attracted to Ridge. She is in town for the evening and she decides to invite him back to her room. He goes. During the night when he is asleep she gathers up her belongings and leaves. He never hears from her again and he was a little upset that she left like she had never been there. His ego suffered a little bit. And the next week he was a little off his game.

    Kendall is a nurse. She was in the same class as Ridge's sister but she knew of Ridge and his friends. All the girls knew the 5 guys. She knew he would never give her a second look. However, when they finally do meet again it is instant attraction.

    This is a great story. I really enjoyed it and found it to be very entertaining. I loved the hero, he was such a great guy. This is a great single dad story. It takes a little bit before you actually get to the meat of the story but once you do there is no putting it down. Great story, great read and I definitely recommend it.
