Returning to the World of our Ruthless Kings is always great to check in and see what our Hot alpha males have been up to, K.L. Savage brought us a little closer to Pirate and I have wondered throughout the series what his story was, Heartbreaking as it gives us more into his story. Pirate is not your typical biker, but when you have lived a life you don't want to be in and the bottle is your only friend, is it possible to turn that life around even if you don't want it? Is it possible for Pirate to finally open his eyes and see the Rays of the Sunshine that were hidden behind his dark and gloomy days and start basking in its light? Sunnie’s life was not her own for the longest time, running and hiding from a man who sought to use her for his advantage. But when she hears and sees a man she deems worthy of trying to save is it possible for her to not only save herself but to bring him out of the darkness?

    I thought it was hard for me to read Poodle but Pirate was so much worse! I knew from all of the previous books that he had a problem, he was an alcoholic. But we didn't know the root of the problem until we got his book and he was forced to go to rehab, get clean, and get back to his responsibilities with Ruthless Kings. He was only 13 years old when his life changed forever. This is a raw, emotional, heart-wrenching book. But it shows us what an addict goes through and how they slowly get to a better place. In rehab he meets Sunshine (Sunnie) and they form a bond fairly quick. Together they see that they can overcome their addictions as long as they have one another. But they have many obstacles and hurdles to get to be together. You will definitely need a box of kleenex with this one! Definitely recommend this book and the rest of the series

    The very beginning, kills you, it’s as simple as that, because fir me violence can happen to adults, but kids are my weakness. And listening to that part🤧. What I can’t understand is where we’re, or are the parents? And than Sunnie to have been born into that unhealthy situation. I know it is a reality that happens, but I don’t have to like it. I can honestly say that in the end, those cruel vicious men died way to fast.....I wanted to slit them from the crotch-to the chest and then dig the knife all over them but keep them alive so they get a glimpse of the pain they have caused. Horrible of me right, and I know in reality they are too disgusting to ever have redemption, but one can hope. I would also like to know how they disposed of the bodies so they weren’t caught. And the almost final question, I hope they were able to get all the money from those evil men and were able to use it wisely. But I must say it kept me on pins and needles, thus proving what a good story it was....👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💙

    I read this via my ku subscription and am leaving my review voluntarily. This is book 6 of the Ruthless Kings MC series. While this series has dealt with dark matters, this one has the most triggers so far. Be warned if you are sensitive to these topics.

    Triggers:
    child kidnapping/assault/murder, alcoholism, memories of rape/attempted rape

    Spoilers:
    Patrick aka Pirate, had a tragic past and he turned to alcohol as a way to cope/escape what haunts him. The MC decides he needs to go to rehab to get help.

    Sunnie, abused by her father and his associates for years. she gets hooked on drugs and stays that way until another tragic event. 

    These two broken and sad people meet and somehow connect with each other. I think the author did a good job of crafting her story around horrific subjects but still giving her characters, and her readers, hope.

    This is the sixth book in the series. They should be read in order. Pirate has been burying something horrible for years. He drinks and drinks to forget. But now he is going off the rails. The club steps in to get him the help that he needs. Sunnie is back in rehab again. She too has her own issues. Who knew that getting help could bring them together? Sunnie helps Pirate even when he doesn’t want it. They form a bond that is more than physical. The club may have stumbled onto something huge while trying to help Sunnie. Will they be able to help? I love Pirate and am so happy that I got to read what makes him tick and what was going on with him. Sunnie is just right for him. She is strong and has been through things of her own. This series gets better with each book. The characters are fantastic and always there for each other. I look forward to reading the next book in the series. Fantastic job K.L. Savage.

    I had watched Pirate destroy himself throughout the other books in this series and it was heartbreaking. I worried he was never going to beat his alcohol demon. I had no idea why he drank or for how long and was gobsmacked when I got his story. The heart wrenching tragedy that ruined our young Patrick's life and threw him into the pit of despair was brutal.

    But, from the ashes a Phoenix rose into a life made better with rehab, therapy, self forgiveness, Sunshine and ok retribution. I mean it is a Ruthless Kings novel and just like Reaper said "we are good at retribution."

    I was thrilled that Pirate finally found and welcomed love, forgave himself for things beyond his control and got to experience feelings not blurred by alcohol. He and Sunni had lot of firsts together after so much trauma and pain. It was beautiful and I would like to propose since Patrick no longer was to be recognized as Pirate, we fans rename him Phoenix in honor of the beginning of his new life.

    Pirate....whew! What can I say? I literally LOL'd, I cried and as usual I NEED more!

    I knew Pirate's story was going to gut me, but I had no idea just how much of myself I'd see in him. Talk about tortured. And all you want to do is take his pain away. His struggle with alcohol is something that I related to.
    He enters a rehab facility and there he meets Sunnie. I loved that right from the beginning she was there for Pirate. Granted, there is truth behind not starting relationships while you're seeking sobriety, this is fiction but it also just made sense!
    I've loved all of the Ruthless characters but Pirate has always been a mystery and now that we learn what happened to him, it makes the book difficult to put down!
    I loved Pirate. His story is overwhelmingly tragic. But once he meets Sunnie, the puzzle starts to come together for both of them

    If you're new to the series, don't hesitate.

    Can't wait for DOC, and then of course TONGUE!

    Reading all the previous Ruthless Kings books pirate was a character that intrigued me.
    I knew there must of been a reason why he drank all the time but what only God knew what.

    Reading his story had me gripped I never would of guessed the storyline in a million years.
    There's no wonder he drank 24/7 no wonder he never wanted to remember.
