Logan Storm, an ex-Delta Force sniper, with scars on the inside, is drifting through life on his way to nowhere. While trying to make peace with his past, Logan encounters a young bar owner and her brothers, with trouble brewing the size of Montana.
Skylar James is worn out. She's trying to raise her two teenage brothers and hold on to the only home they’ve ever known: 500 acres won by her father in a poker game before they were born.
Luckily for Skylar, Logan finds the peace he’s been looking for in the all-American beauty and decides to stick around Ennis, Montana just as adversaries renew old feuds and bodies begin to pile up in the aftermath.

While Skylar and Logan shared an insta connection, it didn’t bother me because everything was so beautifully developed! The plot was rich and had substance, all characters had amazing roles that contributed so much to the build up of the story.
An emotional, romantic and suspenseful journey! 🥰

I was so invested in this fantastic emotional story, I didn’t realise when it finished!
Logan and Skylar were loveable, amazing characters and greatly developed. They might have had an instant connection but their relationship evolved beautifully and it was strong and vivid. All side characters and the adorable and brave German shepherd dog Max were remarkable and engaging, even the villain of the story who managed to break my heart in the end - despite his unspeakable actions.
The combination of romance and suspense was amazing and very well balanced. Very well written and paced, there were several POVs - but mostly by Logan and Skylar - without confusing or distracting me.
I was marvelling at all this love and strength that surrounded the characters as well as their incredible bond❣️
I am looking forward to the next release of the series!!!
“Love’s not a big enough word for what I feel. You own my heart. My body. My soul. If love covers all those things—then I love you—to the very depths of my being.”
Loved that this book had multiple POVs. I devoured this book, the action, the romance and the family setting was 👌 The epilogue was a nice touch
OKAY.... this is sooooooooooo romantic!!!!! I FREAKIN LOVE THIS BOOK SOOOOO MUCH!!!! SO MUCH.
WOHOOOOOOO! Man this book is so good i know i can read this again and again without complaint.
This book made me tear up because it’s romantic and i’m a very emotional person like reading this book it’s like watching a great movie. It also made me tear up because of how THE LOVE FROM THIS COUPLE FOR ME it just so beautiful. I love it. THIS STORY IS NOT BORING AT ALL. It’s so safe, romantic, beautiful, mystery and hot love story. So don’t worry about a thing.
‼️‼️‼️NO CHEATING AND NO SEPARATION.
‼️‼️‼️VERY HOT SMUT SCENES and romantic.
‼️‼️‼️THE HEROINE IS A VIRGIN but the hero is not a virgin. He said he’s been celibate for a while and he always wear a condom, but with the heroine he never wear a protection like that ever.
When the hero finds out the heroine is a virgin, he was surprised and he was really happy about it. Like it’s so romantic I’m like melt inside lol. “YOU GIVE A MAN LIKE ME SOMETHING HE’S NEVER HAD, SOMETHING THAT SOLELY BELONGS TO HIM, HE WON’T LET GO. NOT EVER.” 🥺🥺🥺🥺
‼️‼️‼️LOVE IN FIRST SIGHT. The way they meet for the first time and the second time only for few minutes later, it’s very nice like seriously i thought it would be longer than that but nope it was quick and very romantic i think lol. Even the hero was kinda surprised on how he feel about the heroine because he was having a hard time for himself from personal reasons, he didn’t say anything bad to her or to himself about her. He slowly believe the heroine is a miracle to him.
‼️‼️‼️THE HERO IS OTT POSSESSIVE PROTECTIVE ALPHA MALE.
‼️‼️‼️MANY like many JEALOUS SCENES FROM THE HERO and little from the heroine.
‼️‼️‼️IT HAS A MYSTERY of a killer in the small town and the hero was in hunt for killer. It was quite thrilling to read about the whole thing, mysterious and it made you curious even more!
‼️‼️‼️THE HEROINE AND HERO NEVER PUSH EACH OTHER WAY.... which is so romantic because at the time, the hero was having a hard time and the heroine was also having a hard time both from personal reason like deep reasons. But that didn’t stop them to be close with each other and be clear that this one is for me, SHE AND HE IS IT FOR ME.
“I’LL NEVER LET YOU GO. I’VE ONLY WANTED ONE THING IN MY ENTIRE F*CKING LIFE. I FOUND THAT IN YOU.”
‼️‼️‼️DRAMA WITH OM but not too annoying because the om told the hero that he was actually playing a role like that so no one flirts with her but he actually didn’t love her, so the om lets the hero have his way to the heroine. ALL THE OTHER DRAMA WAS ABOUT A FAMILY MEMBER and not too much or too annoying either...
‼️‼️‼️THE HERO IS A FORMER delta force something like that and he was actually very good... he knows how to defend himself very much. I GUARANTEE YOU WILL LIKE THIS HERO 😍😍👍🏼
‼️‼️‼️THE MINUTE the hero see the heroine and even starts being friends with the hero which was not too long for that because the hero went all kissing and claiming her in front of everyone, THE HERO IS TOTALLY OBSESSED WITH THE HEROINE. The heroine never have a serious or sexual relationship before so she was clueless but she open up to the hero because she felt safe and good about him.
‼️‼️‼️HAPPY ENDING... they got married and she is pregnant with their first child...
‼️‼️‼️TRIGGER (killing only.)
Thank you so much to the author for making a great book like this. And for the team who also made it happen because this book is one of the best that I read in this 2020 crazy year. THANK YOU! PLEASE MAKE MORE BOOKS AUTHOR I LOVE YOU!
I need more books from this author💕🙏🙏🙏🙏
👉🏽👉🏽👉🏽Thank you so much for reading my review❤️❤️ For you who loves my review and follow it, THANK YOU SO MUCH. I did not get paid or be told to do a review on a book. I’m here just to write review about a book so i can remember it. Its my honest opinion😚 I didn’t know at first people will find me and follow me and trust me to be honest, I was surprised myself to look at the notifications from people who reach out to me😆 So everything i write down here on a review is based on my personal opinion and based on my true writing. I DID NOT COPY SOMEONE’S REVIEW OR WRITING SKILL because at first when i was using this app for one year i didn’t know how to scroll down on a book and see the reviews from others😂😅🤣 I know, silly me but hey I finally learned my lesson 😛😛😛 Thats why when people assume i copy someone’s review i was like what? Because at first i didn’t know how to use this app properly and i didn’t know how to open someone’s review because for a year i never follow someone or add friends or someone😂😂😂🤣 (I’m laughing so hard) 🤪 AND I NEVER COPY SOMEONE’S REVIEW EVER. IF I WRITE SOMETHING WRONG OR DOESN’T MAKE SENSE PLEASE LET ME KNOW AND BE NICE OKAY. 👈🏽👈🏽👈🏽✋🏽✋🏽 IF YOU'RE BEING MEAN AND NEGATIVE ALREADY WITH A WARNING AND NOT BEING WISE TO ME, I WILL NOT ENTIRELY READ YOUR COMMENT AND REMOVE YOU EASILY AND FAST. I DO NOT TOLERATE NEGATIVE COMMENT SO KNOW YOUR PLACE, THANK YOU SO MUCH.
I’m writing my disclaimer again here cause many negative people still don't get it or still be stupid enough not to understand my POV when I already write it so many times before. So here I am writing it again to you beautifuls human being😁😁 WHEN YOU READ MY LONG OR SHORT REVIEW, YOU WOULD KNOW THAT WHAT I LIKE ABOUT A STORY AND CHARACTERS RIGHT... IF YOU DON'T KNOW THEN HERE IT IS: I LIKE A BOOK WITH VERY POSSESSIVE PROTECTIVE ALPHA MALE, NO CHEATING, AND PLEASE NO MANWHOR3, NO MANY PUSHING AWAY, NO DOORMAT HEROINES, NO MANY OW DRAMA, NO S3X SCENE WITH SOMEONE ELSE. AND SAFE ALL THE WAY AND A HAPPY ENDING. Something that I don't like it very much if the hero or heroine have a crazy fvcked up personality and likes. Example: killing someone and let the heroine watch it all and push the heroine to lick all the blood of his victim and made her have to eat the meat of humans. and fvcks many woman in front of the heroine while telling her he loves her. I DON'T LIKE THAT TYPE OF SH*T AT ALL. That's just who I am, that's what I like and I don't like on a book. Maybe you love that, but I don't. We humans are different, we think very differently from one another. You have your likes and I have mine, you have your opinions and I have mine of my own. You think it's stupid of me to love such a book or to not love a book or to hate it whatever lol, I think it's bad you think that way cause I respect people's opinions cause I know for a fact we have our differences. YOU AND ME ARE DIFFERENT FOR PETE'S SAKE. I even have my own friends or people I follow here that shows how much they don't like the book I like, I never even give them a long comment or short Comment. Cause I respect their opinions. I don't like to give people I hard time here cause life itself is already hard enough. I do respect your opinion if you say my review is bad or whatever negative things about it, but in the end of the day I will not changed my mind about what book I dislike and how my thoughts about it. You can't tell me what to do. You can give me advice but it's me who decided to know what's right for me, this is my life and not yours. Read that again. Don’t assume things about me that is not even real, just don’t. cause when you do you’re more small minded for sure. You're thinking why I'm telling you all of this when you already know? Is because you still hating on my opinions and don't understand my POV and don't respect my POV. You think i like writing this disclaimer when obviously you're an adult already? no i personally think this is unnecessary... but because there are people out there who still don't get it *rolling my eyes*. Hopefully they or the people who read this disclaimer can use a beautiful thing called a brain:) AND WHEN YOU READ MY REVIEW, READ IT VERY CLEARLY TO SEE IF I FINISHED THE BOOK OR NOT. KNOW THE DIFFERENCE. AND YES ENGLISH IS NOT MY FIRST LANGUAGE. BUT IF YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT I'M WRITING, THEN IT MEANS YOU UNDERSTAND IT ENOUGH. I DO NOT TOLERATE BULLYING, NEGATIVE COMMENTS AND MEAN WORDS. PLEASE USE A WISE WORDS SO WE DON'T ATTACK EACH OTHER. SIMPLY, I DON’T LIKE TO HAVE AN ARGUMENT WITH STRANGERS LIKE YOU CAUSE I HAVE BETTER THINGS TO DO😚 BUT IF YOU STILL WANT TO BE AMBER HEARD KARENS THAT DON'T UNDERSTAND MY DISCLAIMER AFTER I JUST WRITE IT DOWN, THEN GO ENJOY YOUR DAY AND GO AWAY. IT'S VERY EASY FOR A HUMAN COULD DO YA KNOW. IF YOU STILL HERE HATING ME OR ANNOYED WITH ME, THAT'S YOUR PROBLEM. NOT ME PROBLEM. HASHTAGS BURN😂😂 DON'T TAKE THINGS TOO PERSONALLY ON ONLINE CAUSE WE ALL A STRANGERS, WE NEVER EVER MEET. WE'RE ADULTS HERE SO LETS BE WISER. LAST, I BLOCK NEGATIVE PEOPLE! SO GET WELL SOON TO THE HATERS. HOPEFULLY YOUR HEART AND MIND WILL BE MORE POSITIVE 🙏🙏🙏 AND THIS DISCLAIMER MAY SEEMS LIKE TOO HARSH ON YOU BUT HEY I DON'T LIKE TO SUGAR COATED THINGS. I LIKE TO SAY TO THE POINT WITH MY UNDERSTANDING AND MY OWN THOUGHTS, CAUSE THAT'S HOW HUMANS ARE. WE ARE DIFFERENT REMEMBER👍 HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYONE!!
Depending on your preferences regarding romance tropes, you are either going to love this novel or hate it. If you like more of a territorial, protective, alpha male when it comes to a main male character...this one may be for you. If not, I would recommend passing on this one. I personally really liked that aspect in this novel because it was done well. Along with that, I liked the suspense and adventure that also was involved in the story.
In addition to the romance of this story, the suspense was a welcome addition. I couldn't stop reading because I wanted to figure out how the drama would be resolved.
Along with the two main characters, I really liked the rest of the characters and the author created a cast where this series could be expanded on somewhat indefinitely. I would love to read about the lives of the rest of the characters especially in this atmosphere of a small town.
It's a quick read that has everything from family, to romance, to adventure, and mystery. It'll keep you on your toes and make it difficult to stop reading until the book is finished.
***Thank you to Give Me Books Promotions as well as the author C.P. Smith for sending me this ARC in exchange for an honest review***
This is really good. This book has it all, a Hero utterly besotted with the heroine, ex drama, other woman drama, a good villain and a strong hard working heroine.
It is a little bit insta but the way the author has set the reasons for that works, the Hero feels protective of the heroine at first rather than anything else and as he gets involved with her it grows into something more.
The Hero is ex military but instead of meaningless hook-ups, as he is so dark and tortured, he is looking for a good woman to settle with as he feels he will honour his lost brothers by living the life they all dreamed of while at war. That was so refreshing as so many books go down the other route. Lots of potential for more books in the series including a redemption story for the so called other woman and also the ex.
The ex drama is introduced as the heroine describes her ex high school boyfriend who she feels gets all jealous, possessive when any man shows interest but it's not as it seems.
Other woman drama. The Hero eats breakfast in the diner and the other woman approaches him, offers a hookup. The Hero turns her down but encourages her to help the heroine's cause. Later when the Hero, heroine and other woman are in the bar the other woman mentions their discussion at ' breakfast' so knowing the other woman's reputation she assumed the Hero is involved with her. The heroine has two younger brothers who she takes care of so there is banter there. No intimate scenes other than the Hero and heroine. The heroine is a virgin. No sexual history about the Hero. No intimate scenes other than the Hero and heroine. Dual POV. HEA. Epilogue.

Oh my World! What a gut punchingly emotional and unforgettable love story! Destiny, intrigue, suspense, action, love, friendship, passion and ‘All American Steel’! Storm Damage is not only one of my top 2020 reads, but Logan Storm is, in his epitome of Alpha and J/P brilliance, one of my ALL TIME best book boyfriends! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
Full review to follow...
“Love’s not a big enough word for what I feel. You own my heart. My body. My soul. If love covers all those things—then I love you—to the very depths of my being.”
I completely love this book and of course Logan Storm!!! If you're looking for an exciting adventure, filled with mystery, murder, love, loyal friendships, loyal townsfolk, and a sexy Uber Alpha hero then you need to read this book.....and of course meet Logan Storm!!
Logan Storm has been wandering the country since leaving the military, he’s just passing through small town Ennis, Montana when he finds what he’s been searching for....His peace. Skylar James. Skylar has had to grow up fast, she’s raising her two brothers on her family’s acreage and owns and runs the Big Sky Saloon since her father’s death. Skyler hasn’t had time for romantic relationships and unfortunately, the James family has a powerful enemy. On top of this Skylar has fears of messing things up and losing her two teenage brothers Jake & Josh.
Final Thoughts: You will love it!! In Storm Damage you’ll feel every emotion and root for Logan and Skyler’s HEA. We’re also treated to fantastic secondary characters who will leave you wanting their stories too!! Will we be getting them C.P. Smith?
Every book C.P. Smith has written I have loved. There is something about the way she captures the characters and makes me invested in them from the first page. Add in the suspense and drama of the story and I can't put her books down.
This book, however, I think is my favourite of hers. And I am praying it's going to be a series because almost everyone of the secondary characters deserves their own story. There wasn't a single thing about this book that didn't work for me.
Skylar and Logan are right up there as one of my all time favourite couples. I loved their instant connection and I felt their soul deep love. Skylar was so strong and working so hard to keep it all together that she didn't take a breath and look up to see just how much love and support she had. But Logan stole my heart with how fiercely he loved her.
Everything about Logan made him the amazing character he was. He had walked through fire to get to his slice of heaven and no one deserved it more. The fact he walked so perfectly into not just Skylar's life and heart but that of the whole town was beautiful to watch.
I really am hoping to see all of these amazing people get their own happily ever after. Especially after being teased with all their connections through out this book. And I would really love to see Josh and Jake get their future dreams. Who am I kidding? I want it all now please.
If you like your men way OTT alpha, then you will fall in love with Logan. This has tons of angst and mystery. There is never a dull moment in this book between murder, missing persons, alpha men, cute dog, snippy teens and so much more!
My heart is overflowing! Like, I need a little minute to just soak in all the feels. From the first page this book grips you in the feels. Skylar is struggling to hold things together. Between her brothers and trying to keep a roof above their heads, she is stretched thin. And then comes THAT phone call. Logan has spent the last year moving from place to place with his service dog, Max. He too is struggling but for completely different reasons but the moment he sets eyes on Skylar, his demons are muffled. Lord, my heart! He sees her at her worst and he wants to wrap her up and take care of her. But he also sees her steel. He has found his joy. Then there is the community, she lives in. When bodies start piling up and it points to someone local, they surround the family with love and support. This book had me on the edge of my seat as the events unfolded, my heart rate picking up as I moved through the book. An absolute fantastic read that has left me feeling all kind of ways!
The story was good. I struggled with the first half because there was stuff happening that just didn't compute with me. Just little things that weren't essential to the plot but still bugged me a lot. Once the relationship was established and we moved to the suspense portion of this romantic suspense, I enjoyed the book much more, although the ending was pretty abrupt. 4 stars Are we going to get stories for side characters like Ty and Jamie, and Kenzie with Jared? Even the boys Jake and Josh. I would definitely read those as well.
Without fail, CP Smith’s books keep me glued to the pages and Storm Damage was no different. This seductive romance blended carefully with the vivid and intricate suspense plot, delivered big time in CP Smith’s Storm Damage. Logan and Sky’s story is fiercely intriguing and highly satisfying! Looking for a red-hot page-turner? You’ve found it in Storm Damage!!
1.5 stars. And that 1/2 star is because I actually finished it.
This book was so ridiculous, I can't even....
SPOILERS AHOY... YEAH I AM SPOILING THIS ON SOME PLOT POINTS SO BEWARE....
The hero: An ex-military dude who is angsty and drifting because he lost all his brothers during his last deployment. He drifts into this small town in somewhere Montana where he meets the heroine and her brothers. Within three days...yes days he has managed to become enmeshed in the town, has become super alpha intense 'you own my soul' in love with the heroine, and appointed police chief. Yes, he went from unknown drifter to police chief because he 'was in the military' that is his sole qualification. Also he is so super alpha intense, he gets jealous and angry and growly if the heroine hugs any other guy because said guy can 'feel her tits' on his chest during the hug and the only person who can be even within smooshing distance of those tits is him!
The heroine: she is a shining All-American (this was used to describe her sooooo many times) sweet virgin who went to bone town with the hero and is soul deep in love with him within those three days. "how have you remained a virgin?" growly intense hero wonders "I was waiting for you." All-American sweetheart tells him. Also she is owns a bar and a big ranch. The Bad Villain Dude in the book calls in her loan (...he is a whole other story) and the town rallies around to put on a carnival to save her ranch and her bar. Also she is damseled all over the place in this book. He ex boyfriend is supposedly real possessive of her and acts like he is not over her and scares off any new guys. But as it turns out this is not the case, it is only an act because he promised her dad on his death bed he would always protect her. Mind you, ex-boyfriend is in love with someone else but wouldn't move on that because he had to keep up his protective act for the heroine. She also gets beat up by a bar patron. I am cynical enough to believe it was 1) to further damsel her and 2) so the whole town could rally in the hospital waiting room to show her how beloved she is.
The villain: So there is some (none really) mild suspense in this book. It is mild because we the readers know from jump who the bad dude is because we get his POV and all his inner thoughts. But he is the most staggeringly flat character. He is the heroine's half-brother who was brought up by his mean father and told all sorts of evil stories about his mother and her new family (the heroine and her brothers). Bad Villain Dude has some sort of psychotic break because mean, abusive dad confessed on his deathbed that he lied about the BVD's mom all his life. But before mean abusing dad could say "but wait there is more...." and tell him the whole story, BVD kills dad in a rage and goes around killing people who made his young life miserable. And in true BVD fashion he decides to save his half-siblings til last. The writing for BVD is sometimes kinda cringe, tbh too. He is half Native American and at one point he stands on the lawn of his ex-wife's house in 'full war paint' to intimidate her.
Between the insta-love, the insta-job, and the heroine who refuses to believe her half-brother (that she has never had much contact with and he's made it clear he hates your guts) is a killer because her mother was the sweetest woman in the world and could never have given birth to a killer.... I just... this book was ridiculous.
It feels an absolute age since we have had a new story from CP Smith. However, it has been worth every single second of the wait to get Storm Damage.
You know what you are going to get with one of her stories. Alpha man. Strong woman. Insta-love (I am not a big fan of the insta-love, but it doesn't worry me with CP's stories as the stories are so well plotted out, it doesn't feel real quick).
Logan and Skylar's story is all that and a bag of chips. I was consumed from the minute I opened up this book until I regretfully put it down after the last word. Regretfully, as I didn't want it to end.
There is murder, mystery and mayhem as you read. You pretty well know who is doing stuff, but it is the journey of the why that takes you on a rollercoaster of a story. Just when you think things are sorted out, BAM, you turn the page and are again blown away.
Ms Smith gives us such well rounded out characters. Logan and Skylar are fighting to find their peace, and with the help of family and friends, maybe they can find it. Skylar's brothers and her best friends are amazing, and I neeeeeed Jamie's story to happen. Things are alluded to in this book so I hope we get her story in the futute.
I am a bit over the alpha-hole thing in my books, however Logan Storm is very much the exception to that rule for me at the moment. And that all comes down to Ms Smith's writing.
Now I need to move to Montana, find me a Logan (or heck, maybe I can find Dutton Ranch whilst I am there) and live happily every after!
Wow just wow. I’ve been enticed by the teasers of this book for weeks now and it didn’t disappoint at all! The emotion in this book is there from the beginning and until the end! I cannot tell you exactly how I felt just that it made me feel deeply throughout the story. Logan is lost and drowning in guilt, he thought he’d been forgotten and would never find what he’d need. Then one day out of the blue he sees Skylar and her brothers and his heart recognises her pain. Skylar’s just been handed the biggest jolt after a lot of other knocks in the last few years. When Logan appears on one of the worst days of he life he gives her the courage to face what is front of her. Along the way the town she’s lived in her entire life shows her that she’s not alone and never was. With complications galore they navigate teenage boys, a serial killer and their growing love. Also an amazing dog who literally won’t leave her side. To say I have a book hangover is an understatement! This book had it all, drama, suspense, intrigue and so much love it hits you right in your heart. C. P.’S style is evident in her magical storytelling and her true Alpha heroes. I adored this book and can’t wait for the next book.
Another hit from one my 1-click authors! Storm Damage checks all the boxes of what I love about this author’s books. We have the uber alpha hero that instantly knows who his “one” is. A heroine who has such inner strength that you immediately respect and admire them. And a storyline that will draw you in from the very beginning.
The heroine, Skylar James, is just plain awesome. She has so many responsibilities on her shoulders, she is raising her two younger brothers when she is only in her 20s herself and on top of that, keeping their home from being taken away from them. To say she has family issues is an understatement. She has pretty much reached her breaking point but will keep going until the very end.
The hero in this story is Logan Storm and his loyal service dog, Max. He is an ex-Delta Force sniper who has inner demons that have had him roaming to find some peace. His search has landed him in Ennis, Montana. That first encounter with the James’ siblings capped it for Logan, he has found his place. The elusive sense of peace is instantaneously found with Skylar. And he makes it his mission to keep her safe at all costs.
The suspense and drama portion of this book kept me on my toes. I could not put the book down, especially when the protective and oh so sexy alpha emerges when danger is heightened around Skylar. Storm Damage was another fantastic read and I highly recommend it.
CP has done it again!! Another all consuming story from start to finish. I adored every single character— Logan Storm is for sure one of the best alphas I’ve read this year. Skylar was such an amazing heroine. All American steel wrapped up in a beautiful package. Josh and Jake were fantastic as well as Jamie and Ty. I hope we get more out of the folks in Ennis, Montana!
10+++ stars! I adore Logan & Skylar, and her brothers, and his dog, and the town! OMH!
Okay, let me pause the gushing to compose something cohesive...
From the moment they meet, Logan & Skylar have this connection that is just ... it rivals an Aurora Rose Reynolds BOOM moment, really. I love their interactions from that very beginning. I love how protective her brothers are over her & how Logan sees this & nurtures it rather than fighting it. The steam is just the right amount. The LOVE is everything! And the suspense / mystery portion ... SO well done! I love that we get a glimpse into the "bad guy" & they're not just a one-dimensional character. We get to know all the characters, and that makes for a deeper, richer story.
Thumbs way up! This is definitely on my CP Smith favorites shelf!
This is one of those stories that keep you at the edge of the seat waiting to read what happens next. I love the connection between skye and Logan it’s that once in the life time finding of souls❤️ this author created a storyline where it had love, action and mystery, such a incredible book that i hope she makes it a series!
I was going to do a review that just said MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE all the way through, but I owe this book so much more than that. And, although CP Smith might think I’m funny...pretty sure she wouldn’t think that was funny...ok, maybe a little, but not for my whole review. I had so many highlights, and teasers for this book, because when CP Smith writes, she writes from deep down in her soul, and you feel everything, all the way to your soul. An intense and heart warming experience for sure, and I always love every single minute of it.
Let’s talk about my Logan Storm. First things first, this cover, the damn cover...am I right? Logan is everything, and I do mean everything. He is just as sexy as his cover and his name implies. Seriously though. Maybe his nickname shoulda been Logan Sexy AF Storm instead of Crest...just sayin. And if his name doesn’t scream badass then I don’t know what does. In a world full of chaos, don’t we all want a Logan Storm? I know I do, and a Max too...this is me putting my order in now. He knows what he wants, and that’s Skylar, he doesn’t apologize for it, he is who he is and that’s it. These two connected from the very first meeting, they are haunted soulmates drawn together. I love that they both don’t fight it, they don’t even try to. Refreshing af. .
This was a safe read. A delicious possessive Adonis Alpha that only has eyes for his woman...I know super sexy swoonfest. These two were everything, total relationship goals. Sexy soulmates with a side of suspense. Logan was all possessive alpha, all the time….still mine. Loved all the towns people and how they banded together to help their own. Even welcomed Logan with open arms. Her brothers are handfuls, but Logan helps with that too, which I appreciated very much. An emotional epilogue and a hea. *Sigh* these two😍.
DISCLOSURE - I don’t know what else you’ve read, but Logan is MINE😉😂.
This is the first book I have read by C.P. Smith but it certainly won’t be the last, if you are looking for a great read that’s got the perfect mix of mystery, murder, love and friendships, Storm Damage is the book for you. I fell hard and fast for Logan Storm and his service dog and I was captivated from the first page to the last line. Skylar is struggling to keep her life together, she is trying to raise her two teenage brothers and keep the roof over their heads, this family have been through so much and losing the only home they have known in the small town of Ennis, Montana would be the final straw so when Logan offers help, she jumps at it. Logan Storm is a man dealing with demons from his past but he is learning to live with the scars that mark him on the inside as well as the out and helping Skylar seems a way to help him move forward. This is a book that ticked all my boxes, I loved the characters and I loved the intense chemistry this couple shared, I loved how the community came together when murder hits the small town and I loved how this story kept me on the edge of my seat. Looking forward to reading more by this very talented author.
Wow! I was hooked from the first page. Logan is a born protector. After serving in the army for 10 years, he just wants to find peace. He find it when he looks into Skylar's eyes. He becomes her protector, her joy. Skylar is also drawn to Logan immediately. They both know they were meant to meet. With the help of his dog, Max, Logan vows to protect Skylar and her brothers. I was on the edge of my seat for most of the book, waiting to see what would happen next. I liked the other characters in the book too and hope to read more about them. This is the first book I have read by CP Smith, but it definitely won't be the last.
I've read every single one of CP's books, and NONE of them compare to Storm Damage! If you've read CP, you know the type of book you're getting. The suspense was high, the feelings were intense, and all the characters are so lovable. Especially Max. Max is my new favorite animal character! CP has started a new series that I'm already jonesing for, and I've only read the first one. I'm so excited to see where these characters go and what happens in book 2!
Thank you, CP, for more of your jaw-dropping, awe-inspiring words. This book settled straight to my heart and it'll be one I never forget.
I was blessed with a copy, I consider Mrs. Smith my new BFF. First off, I am completely in love with Max, my own German Shepherd is lazy, but protective. What can I say about Logan Storm? He's beautifully broken, the alpha you always dream of finding. Skye is how you'd picture a strong woman being, things I see within my family and friends. We protect our own without fear of ourselves. All of that to say, I need more of Storm. Thank you Christina for a beautiful story!
Fantastic book! Love this author. Logan and Skylar are perfect for each other. Skylar helps Logan find the inner peace he needs, while Logan helps Skylar with her family and helping her keep her home and helping with her brothers. This author is amazing at drawing you into the story and keeping you hooked. Lots of passion, suspense, and a guaranteed HEA.
Disclaimer: I received an eArc in exchange for my honest review.
I love small town romances. I love them even more when there are murders and a mystery. All of that plus an alpha hero like Logan, it's not surprising that this one was right up my alley.
Logan and Skylar are a great couple. Logan's belief in God and fate was something that resonated with me. He was jealous, possessive, and bossy. But not enough that he would be classified as an alphahole. More importantly, I loved how he knew he wasn't skilled in all things and would never hesitate to ask for help, even from a 15-year old boy.
Skylar isn't my favorite of heroines (I like them nerdy lol), but I loved how she was strong and wasn't a melting puddle at Logan's feet. She might be attracted but she isn't ruled by her hormones. She also has a very forgiving heart. I apparently don't lol.
The other characters worked for me as well. Though we didn't get to know them well, I'm intrigued enough to hope they get their own stories.
Storm Damage does deal with some heavy topics (i.e. domestic and child abuse) but it doesn't make you feel down. The murder mystery was pretty simple. But that doesn't detract from the story at all. I liked the "lightness" of it - that I could finish it and want to read more, but I wasn't feeling emotionally wrecked that I needed a palate cleanser.
I've read all of this author's books and this one would be my top 2. Because Max and Mia (the nerdy girl) from A Reason to Kill will forever be at the top of my list.

I have read every book by CP Smith and loved every one. However, Storm Damage is my favorite and is one of the few books I've read so far this year that is perfectly paced. Ms. Smith draws the reader in on page one and leaves an imprint on the reader's heart long after the story is finished. While insta-love is at play in this book there is so much more going on with the characters in this story and the subplots, which I hope will bring us back to Ennis, Montana in the future. Ms. Smith's secondary characters are just as likable and engaging as her main couple which is always a plus in my book. Retired from Delta Force, Logan is on a mission seeking solace from the loss of his comrades in arms. Desperately searching for peace with his war dog, Max, he finds exactly what he is looking for in a pickup on the side of the road. He recognizes immediately that Skylar is his future, though that road is filled with potholes and emotional IEDs. Every time Skylar turns around it seems there is a new threat to her and keeping her family together. The latest comes in the form of her half brother threatening to take everything she holds dear and binds her family together. Skylar is strong but even she feels the strain of keeping the promise she made to her father. Logan storms in on her darkest day and though she is hesitant to let the compelling stranger in she cannot deny the attraction. As the body count rises in the small town, so does the passion and emotion between Skylar and Logan. They in turn rise above the chaos to overcome, but the journey makes a tantalizing read with all the suspense and sexual chemistry a reader could long for. Logan is alpha to the core, jealous and protective, not only of Skylar but also her brothers and the things she holds dear. Skylar is "All-American Steel" which was exactly what Logan was searching for. She not only loves him but she also helps him get over the sense of guilt and loss he feels over his military family. Ms. Smith is an artist when it comes to weaving intricate suspense plots and showcases her talents when she develops her characters. I strongly recommend you face this Storm head on because Logan Storm is a force of nature that will blow you away.
4 1/2 stars Hokey pokey, when you become instantly angry and indignant on behalf of the main character right from the first chapter you know things are going to be exciting. Storm Damage is the first book by this author I have read but it definitely won’t be the last.
Logan Storm and Skylar James are the lead characters in this small town romantic suspense story and very different people. Logan is an ex delta service man who has only been out of the army for six months but doesn’t have a special place to call home. Skye is a young woman struggling to make ends meet while raising her two teenage brothers, both hard cases but loveable nonetheless. What they do have in common is loss!
Loan is your typical alpha male, extremely protective and caring. He isn’t afraid of hard work and quickly embraces small own living. He is used to giving orders and having the obeyed so I love it when Skye tries to stand up to him, and yes I said tries. 🤣Special mention must be given to Max, the service dog Logan brought back to America with him. This German Shepard is absolutely gorgeous and steals so many scenes.
This is a highly emotional story where you feel everything with the characters. There is some great humour to lighten the heavier more heartbreaking scenes, ones that leave you feeling despair for the characters or on the edge of your seat with worry. There are some were deep issues explored in this story and I am very impressed with how smoothly they’re handled. One of the main reasons why I gave it an extra half a star.
Terrific character descriptions give good insight into what makes each character tick. The fantastic descriptions of Montana and it’s landscape make you itch to go and see it for yourself and the whole township with their support and love sounds fantastic.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story, I had trouble putting it down even with a headache! And that ending is perfect!
Logan Storm is currently a drifter. He is traveling light with his ex-military dog Max (who I REALLY loved). He is trying to find his peace after a tough loss of his military brothers a year ago. He stops in the small town of Ennis, Montana and stops to help Skylar and her two younger brothers who are pulled off the side of the side of the road in some apparent distress. Logan makes an instant connection with her and decides to stay in town for a while.
Skylar never had time for romance, but she instantly falls for Logan. She is struggling to save everything she loves. She’s raising her two younger brothers and owns and runs the Big Sky Saloon since her father’s death. Her half-brother Chance becomes a problem. Mysterious disappearances and deaths all add to the excitement of this book.
"I dreamt about this in the desert." He spoke those words softly between drugging kisses and nipping the skin on my neck. "Dreamt about finding a woman like you"........"A woman who consumes me so completely, the ghosts in my head are at peace."
This book took me through so many emotions! I loved all these characters! And as you make your way through this story, at times, you will be on the edge of your seat! I got to a point where I couldn't put it down until I finished it.
"A lifetime isn't long enough to know some people, while others mirror your soul in the beat of a heart. He walked into my heart, Jake, that's all I can tell you. Walked in and woke me up. Made me feel safe and protected in a way I haven't felt since Daddy died. He--" I swallowed to control my emotions "--He feels like home. Like he's always been a part of my heart."
