Revenge is a dish best served cold.

They weren’t kidding about that.

They really weren’t.

Dear Celia,

Your family are a bunch of…
Wait. No. It isn’t your fault.
None of this is your fault.
I’m sorry. I wish you knew how sorry I was.

Dear Andrea,

Your family and you are a bunch of…
Nope.
Still not it.
It’s not you I hate.

Dear Tanner,

You’re a monster.
A cold, broken monster.
I think they have a name for you, oh right, a sociopath.
A gorgeous, strong, incredible sociopath.
How could you do this to me?
So easily?
So effortlessly?
How?
Please, for the love of god, tell me how?
I trusted you. But you knew that, didn’t you?
It’s exactly what you wanted.
Where will it end?
Will it end?
I don’t want to have to hate you, can’t you see that?
I don’t want to have to seek my own revenge…
But you’ve left me no choice.

Dear Ethan,

Screw you.
You were my best friend.
How could you?
I have nothing else to say to you.
Nothing.

Dear Fate,

Well done. You won.

You won.

➽ KITTY KATS CRAZY ABOUT BOOKS Image and video hosting by TinyPic

'YOU FOR HER' is the second full length suspense novel in Bella Jewel's 'The edge of Retaliation' series. It picks up where the first book This for That left off.

God I love the covers associated with this series!! After falling down that horrendous cliffy in book #1 I needed this book in my hands like my last breath! And the punches to the heart just kept coming..

They say revenge is a dish best served cold!! But at what cost??

Twists and turns, revenge, heartbreak, betrayal, this book kept me on my toes!! I never knew what was going to come at me next and that's what I love in my books..

Callie showed such extreme growth and determination throughout this book as she still tried to uncover the truth of that fateful night which changed her life forever, taking more risks than ever before, the two men who she thought she could trust were the ones keeping things from her which sent her on a tailspin. To a degree some of the questions she was seeking were answered but many more raised its ugly head which will be resolved in the next book.

Callie's and Tanners relationship turned toxic as they both struggled to make sense of what new information that had been uncovered.

Annnndddd just when I thought that sucky assed cliffy was behind me, I'm thrown over another one!! Kind of am but kind of not becoming immune to them NOT!! Grrrrrr 😩

Lies.
Betrayal.
Revenge.

"You For Her" started exactly where "This For That" ended. When she found out about the truth, and that they have nothing real; it was a bit too late. She was falling for him and now she had to tell everything inside herself that everything was just a bunch of lies. So she had to get ready to face them and pretend everything is fine and meanwhile making her next move…

Told in single POV, 1st person. It’s the second installment in "The Edge of Retaliation" series, ends on a cliffhanger and has to be read in order. It’s full-on angst, contains a good dose of tension and a bit twisty. The way it ended I’d like to know what happens next and hope it’s not a bad thing. Overall, I had a good time reading this and hope you enjoy it as well!

I have been on pins and needles ever since that huge cliffhanger the previous book, This for That, ended with. I am not a fan of cliffhangers, but somehow I have gotten used to them...(well kind of) 9f01372377900d9203bc4efe48eb1659  Must be the number of cliffhangers I have been confronted with this year. Now I am immune of sorts, which is a good thing, because this book, yeah you guessed it....another cliffhanger !!!

This one starts exactly where This for That left us. Now I can't really say too much because that would spoiler the first book and as much as I want to scream and shout about certain things...and characters...I won't.

Callie is still dealing with life after prison. Being locked away for 6 years for something that wasn't fully your fault is a very big deal. Being betrayed by those you trusted after you came out...might be an even bigger deal.

Thankfully Callie is not one to give up easily, though I have to say that she forgave faster than I would have. That said...I hold a very mean grudge and I do love my groveling. I could have used some more, to be honest.

Callie also has one of the best friends of all time and I think Jo deserves some major props for the way she stood by her friend, and even how she tried to help out... I really hope we will get more about her in the next book, or maybe she will get her own story.

I really enjoyed this second book in the trilogy and I can't wait to see what's next. The author promised that the wait won't be too long, but for me, 5 minutes is long if I want something bad enough ;)

**Synopsis:**
Book 2 picks up exactly where the previous book left off. Callie now knows the truth and has to decide her next move.

** The following are my thoughts about this book: **
- told from Callie’s POV only. Not my favorite, but it worked.

- At 44% ALL the secrets were revealed and everyone knew what had happened. I was glad the secrets weren't spread out over three books, but wondered what would happen with the plot if the secrets were known. Well, the plot took an interesting turn I wasn't really expecting and the last half of the book found both sides working together.

- I really went through the wringer on my feelings toward the various characters. Sometime if found the actions irredeemable. Other times I found I was sympathizing. So, the writing was such that I was able to see and empathize with some of the actions, and that actually surprised me.

- Callie's determination to find the truth was admirable. I thought she was a character that confined to grow in this book.

- The best friend Jo was so fantastic. She never doubted, always supported and put her own problems aside to be the person Callie needed. Such an awesome friend.

- The guys....oh boy. Their friendship was tested and I wondered if they would crumble underneath the truth. They certainly had some very non-stellar moments but I got their reactions.

- Callie and Tanner - I’m just not sure how I feel about them. Tanner’s lies and actions made it hard for me to forgive him and root for this couple. I’m still in the fence

- Jo and Tatum - she deserves so much better than douchebag Patrick, but is Tatum the right guy? Once again, his lies and actions made him hard to root for. I’m on the fence about these two also.

- this ends with a cliffhanger, so have the next book ready to go.

This book was a little confuse. This story would be more plausible if it finished here.
The characters went from enemies to partners and worked together. Their actions were so crazy...
I liked it but I didn’t love it.
I will wait for the book 3.

I devoured this in literally 2 and a half hours. I couldn't stop reading. I opened the book on my kindle and didn't put it down until it was finished.

This book picked up right where This for That left off and maaaaaaaan, it was a crazy journey. I feel like I was literally swept up into the story and then put back down after I hit the cliffhanger.

I really don't want to give anything away so i'll be brief. This book consisted of heartbreak, betrayal, and the need for justice. This book was even more intense than book one and I was pleasantly surprised that I actually got to see more and more of the characters in this series. This was a GREAT plot. I was anxious and crazy the whole book, the suspense was seriously insane. The chemistry between Tanner and Callie is OFF THE CHARTS. We see huge progress in both of their characters. Callie was so strong by the end, so different and changed from all the events that took place since she got out of jail.

This book was SO GOOD!

I dont know what to think of this story...
I was so excited by the first book that I just couldn't wait for the next one. The first half of the book was awesome. Callie was determined to find out exactly what happened to Celia and also after what she found out she knew that she should keep on pretending to be in the dark.
I was disappointed in Tanner, i really thought that he was the good guy. But clearly there was more going on that what we thought we knew.

The second part of the book I was just annoyed about the fact that Callie forgave Tanner but she couldn't forgive Ethan. And it was this whole back and forth. I forgive you, I hate you... I just think that Callie couldn't decide what she wanted. In the beginning she was strong and i loved that about her, but i just thought she wasn't sticking to her believes.

I loved the storyline, only certain parts didn't work for me. And now that ending. I need to know what is going to happen next.

Picks up just after the cliffy; Callie is on the war path ready to takedown anyone who gets in her way. This must just be a “it’s me” thing, because it feels like everyone else loves this series but me. I was hoping I would get hooked with book 2, but once again; I struggled… like I almost DNF at 87%; I’m just not feeling it. The “mystery” seems silly, everything is a bid deal, and Callie is so over dramatic about everything. I know this is for adults, but I feel like I’m reading Nancy Drew, or a “what about me” Veronica Mars; it all just feels childish.

The good news, Callie is definitely not a doormat, there’s no quiet suffering here. She makes sure to tell us over and over again, how she didn’t deserve what happened to her…blah …blah And maybe it’s me, (or the voice I’m using in my head) but her constant internal musings are too much, and her OTT rants are old. “I relive it every second” “I’ve suffered every second” “I feel every second of every day” On and on she goes.

This one is all told from her POV again, ends in another cliffy. I've heard the last book adds Tanner, Jo and Tatum's POV, but I'm stopping here. All the books are free to read with KU, and the audio is in Audible Escapes. I'm giving it three stars because there's nothing wrong with the book; you can see plenty of people really like it. It's just not for me:)

Second installment of this wild ride is a cross-country chase (no pun intended -- you'll understand if you've been reading this series). There's lots of action this go-round and feelings surface right and left. Things are uncovered that are unexpected. And dang if there isn't another cliffy and a wait for the third and final installment. This cliffy was a doozy -- and I hope that Bella Jewel makes it a quick wait to save us all.

A few too many editing errors in this book for my liking. I didn't take any stars off -- but suffice to say they could have been easily corrected with a final proofread. Also, you might have to expend some of your abilities to stretch the limits of believability -- some of the things going on are a bit over-the-top, but it's fiction so I didn't let it bother me too much. Just be aware you're going to encounter some events that challenge being realistic.

You for her - The Edge Of Retaliation Book 2
By Bella Jewel

Ok... I didn’t think Bella could top ‘This For That’ (book 1) but I have to say, she went above and beyond in this one . I just loved it, couldn’t put it down .

There was not a lot of s3x scenes but I totally understood why. This was more about uncovering the truth, dealing with a ton of hurt, betrayal and anger so if the Author added a ton of S3xual scenes it wouldn’t have matched the storyline, and for someone that LOVES reading about hot s3x in my books , I really can say I honestly didn’t miss it in this, I was just so invested in the characters it never really crossed my mind.

The was so much ANGST in this story (omg angst is my downfall) I love it . I felt all the feels , I cried quite a bit. Yes it was frustrating as all hell with the back and forth between Tanner & Callie but the Author did her job exceptionally, that’s exactly how we are meant to feel ... frustrated and angry. But that’s real life right? Something tragic happens and that feeling of injustice is taken personally, that’s exactly what happened here . There was no right or wrong , there was just mistakes... huge ones yes and some wrong choices were made but that’s just life. It’s what you do next that matters.

I loved all the ups (there really weren’t many ups) and downs throughout this whole book, the back and forth, hate to like made the story so believable to me . To try and overcome your own sense of personal injustice is hard, to see things from others point of view when your hurting so much yourself would just be painfully hard to do. Putting yourself in other peoples shoes and seeing where they come from isn’t a easy thing to do, the natural part of life is to protect ones self right ?. The whole story from start to finish just resonated with me, it stuck , made me really FEEL and got me thinking hard about the situation. what would I do? How would I react ?

Be prepared to be taken on such an emotional journey ,and be even more prepared for another cliffhanger... I absolutely hate cliffhangers but sometimes they are just NEEDED and I think it was in this book too . Be prepared to sit on the edge of your seat with anticipation, the suspense is killer and the hurt is raw and real .

Congratulations Bella , I adore your writing, your storytelling ability is crazy good and I look forward to seeing what comes next with book 3.

~ 5 Holy WOW Stars ~

Ok this might be the shortest review I write to date!!

I can’t say anything about this book besides READ THIS SERIES!!!

You For Her is the second book in the Edge of Retaliation Series by Bella Jewel. It is NOT a standalone novel and Book 1…. This For That….. NEEDS to be read first!! I will also warn readers this book does end with a CLIFFHANGER!! and it is just as brutal as the first book. I need the final book NOW!!!

If you love a romantic suspense novel, then this series is for you. I have read many Bella Jewel books and I have to say this series is her best work yet!! She has a twisted mind, I say that in the nicest way, but what does that say about me, because I love her twisted mind and books.

You For Her has so many twists and turns you won’t see anything coming. This book takes off right where book 1 ends. We do get a lot of answers in this book for questions that were raised after reading book 1, but this book also brought new questions to my mind. This book sucked me in right from the beginning and it hasn’t let me go yet. This was such a mind bend and a page turner. I couldn’t put it down.

This book was just as fabulous as the first book. This book will also test your patience when it comes to the characters. We do see a different side to most of them. In the end though I love every one of the characters we meet or have met. This book is told solely in Callie’s POV. I still wish we would’ve got some other POV’s in this book (I said the same for the first book) That’s truly the only negative I have about this series.

Let me finish by saying READ THIS BOOK!!! you won’t be sorry!!

You for Her by Bella Jewel
“rubs face in frustration, 3”

Okay, so if you read my review for This for That you know I wasn’t sold on this whole story line. But I read the first book so I had to read the second to find out what happens. Because cliffhangers are stupid. Let me just say again that I typically like Jewel and her stories, but dear baby jesus I have never wanted to punch characters in the face so much!
Our heroine is self-centered, her best friend needs to grow up, the hero is also blinded by his hurt and me, me, me, personality, his best friend is a shady pile a dog poo, oh and let’s not forget the heroine’s guy best friend who has been plotting behind her back.
So here we are in book two trying to figure out what happened to Celia (aside from dying). It’s guys vs. girls basically until heroine and best friend call the guys out. Then they magically join forces *eye roll*. So, they go on this adventure for the lack of a better word, truths are told, feelings are hurt, and no real justice is done. We figure out what happened to Celia and her reasons why she was acting strange before her death (yay!) but then SOMETHING ELSE HAPPENS LEAVING US WITH ANOTHER FREAKING CLIFFHANGER!!
I loathe cliffhangers. Sometimes I can do them, because they are needed. But this was completely unneeded. I’m to the point where I don’t even know why I’m rating You for Her a 3. The only reason I would recommend this series is if you want to feel ragey go for it.
Plot-3/5
Characters-2/5
Heat-2/5
Writing style-3/5
Overall-3/5

This is a review for books 1 and 2.

Book 1 - 3 stars
Book 2 - 2 stars

I have to say I started off liking this series but it has definitely tailed off for me and I won't be reading the last book. I guessed so many of the twists early on (I've probably read too many of these books and they don't shock me anymore haha!) and so many things annoyed me in the end.

I didn't feel Callie and Tanner's connection at all.

This book was highly anticipated by me and I want to thank the author for not taking forever and a day to get this second one out after the HUGE cliffhanger in the first one, now one warning for you--- there is ANOTHER cliffhanger in this one and it is kind of a big one too!

Bella Jewel makes her characters so freaking amazing. I can feel exactly what Callie, Tanner, Andrea, Ethan, and Jo are feeling in this book and it is just wow. I cannot give any spoilers away because that is just stupid, but know if you liked This for That, you are going to be intrigued where this has gone in the story line. It starts right where the first one ends off so you don't have to keep worrying about that major freaking BOMB!

I like how the author makes the characters think about their feelings and express what they are feeling and thinking, I think especially in this case it is freaking crucial. I cannot wait for the next one, I am hooked Bella Jewel- give me more please!!

PS: I received an advanced copy of the book in return for my honest feedback!

Ughhhh

So very well written. But I cannot stomach a weak heroine. For all her great plans they all just flopped because she “loved him” the love she felt for him was manipulated and contrived by him. It wasn’t real. She’s everything I hate in women. She’s the type of woman that when he hits her she will make up some bull crap excuse for him. He had a long day. He’s been stressed at work. Fact is, hes a bully. His friends were bullies. Liars, disgusting human beings who I would never ever associate with. They were all way out of line. I couldn’t even finish it, it made me that wild. The reason I have a problem with it is because the author tried to play off their actions and consequences for their hurting. If you’re going to write a psycho, at least let them own it. But don’t write them to be poor damaged boys who just don’t know how to handle their emotions. My eight year old son knows better than that. Two stars because it’s well written. That’s all.

The second part of The Edge of Retaliation is just as captivating if not more so than the first book. As more lies are discovered and pain and hurt is brought to the surface, confusion will reign down on so many of them. Callie will be torn between hating and loving the people that she thought she could trust and Tanner will be left angry as he fights his inner turmoil for feelings he wasn’t supposed to have. As truths are laid out and new plans are made, hearts will be put to the test. Tanner and Callie war between love and hate but when faced with losing it all, hurt and seeking vengeance may just be not worth it in the end. Their story draws you in and holds you hostage as you await the conclusion of this action packed love story that was only ever supposed to be retaliation.

Not Again !

I would like to say that I enjoyed this book but two cliffhangers are just too much for me.

As for the story in itself. I absolutely loved the plot. I enjoyed the suspense and how the author kept me on the edge as each little twist intricately revealed itself.

I'm not quite certain whether or not to move on with the next book when it comes out. The ending here was abrupt and took me by complete surprise. Possibly I won't be able to resist learning what happened but if so then at least just let there be a happy ending.

This book would have gotten a four star review from me but the ending.

I simply couldn’t relate to the H at all. Felt like a two dimensional character. Wasn’t much of a suspect to be honest.

The H acts like a victim and calls the h selfish (wtf how dumb can you be?)

Honestly the only likeable characters were Jo and the h (yes, I’m putting the h in the second place because I didn’t like her that much either)

It honestly didn’t feel like a Bella Jewel book at all. It felt like it was written by a amateur writer writing their first book.

Anyway I won’t be finishing this book because it’s just too annoying at this point. The hero is a scumbag and I don’t see how he can be redeemed. The rest is too predictable sooooo yeah. DNF

This is book 2. In this one, Callie sets Tanner up to catch him in the act of breaking into her house. After finding out who Tanner and Andrea, and evening Ethan, are, she decided she will not be the victim anymore. After revealing the truth about Celia to Tanner, their relationship is thrown into more turmoil when they set out on the road to find Celia’s tormentors.
Tanner is hotheaded, Tatum is only trying to protect his brother, Ethan is so sorry, Jo is struggling in her situation, and Callie is trying to come to terms with the fact that she killed someone.

I didn’t enjoy this one as much as the first. This one just... started to seem to go out there. It was okay.

I adore Bella Jewel!
After finishing the previous book with an epic cliffhanger, Callie tries to know the whole truth. And honestly, I couldn't read fast enough to know what was going to happen.
There is a third book. But it's OK. I'm not ready to let this characters go.
But that's Bella Jewel's magic. And I will never get tired of saying it 😎. Her books are all perfect.
If you haven't read one of her books, this is the perfect opportunity to do it.

Another cliffhanger

I thought this was the end but another cliffhanger. I hate when an author does this. Now we have to wait again. I just don't know if it is worth it anymore. I'm so mad this story started off so good now it's just stopped. Moved to fast to keep up. I felt lost being told the story after the fact and then felt like I was trying to catch up.

The mission if you chose to accept it is to get justice for Celia Yates by Exposing the truth and Getting revenge. The story follows the friendships between Callie, Tanner, Jo, Tatum, and Ethan. These friendships test loyalty with secrets and lies stacked up against them.
After Callie returns from prison she goes head to head with the Yates. She’s back living in the same town as the Yates. It’s not the warm welcome she hoped to find.
Told in the first person from the voice of Callie. Callie plays couch detective searching for answers about Celia Yates. Callie spent six years in prison for a crime she didn’t commit. Reading like a junior detective this character driven story reveals many secrets.

It’s a wordy story. Bella Jewel expresses Callie’s feeling openly and honestly. The reader knows exactly how she feels at every moment. She also shares what she views from interacting with each of the minor characters. Bella puts every thought down on paper leaving very little to the imagination of the reader. Without the audiobook I most certainly would skim read this one.

Bella breaks her characters with pain, hurt, and anger. Then she pieces them back together with honesty. This was a dark subject. The topic of Celia’s death could trigger some readers.

This is the second book in The Edge of Retaliation. I’m so disappointed this series didn’t live up to what I’ve grown to expect from Bella Jewel’s writing voice. I just wasn’t hook by the storyline or the characters. The plot was unrealistic and convoluted. I find with Bella Jewel it’s a hit or miss for me. This series certainly was a miss. It just didn’t live up to what I’ve read of her previous work.

Number Thirteen, 72 Hours, Fleeting Moments, Life After Taylah, and Wingman were my top five reads by Bella Jewel. She’s got a good writing voice. Sometimes I connect with the story and other times I don’t.

Narrator:
Chelsea Hatfield was the solo female performer of this audiobook. I listened at 2X the speed using the audible app. This reduced listening from 6 hours to about 3 hours. This was an unabridged version allowing easy access to follow along with ebook. I enjoy investing in both the audiobook and ebook letting the narrator do all the work. Thanks Chelsea for doing the impossible by bringing life to this story and the characters. I would’ve skim read this one, but the audiobook saved me from doing that. It takes a great performer to voice both male and female characters. Chelsea is a skilled voice actor.

Oh God, this book was seriously dragging for heaven's sake. With book 1 being interesting, I hoped this one would be thrilling too but OMG, so far it's nothing but snooze fest with nothing happening, and with the same drama being discussed again and again and again...
Also, didn't expect the book to take such a turn at the second half where it deals with just the MC's emotions like pain, revenge, guilt, forgiveness or clearing things up of stuff they assumed and since the suspense part of this plot was revealed in the beginning itself, the story lost its spark too, and I couldn't say honestly whether I liked it or not, it's just that sometimes you read a book but you don't feel much as you would have expected. Yes, there were certain things that was touching, but the majority of the book felt flat to me.

🔹I grown to like Callie in book 1, but she bored me here with her constant conflicting emotions.
🔹Tanner's character grew in this one as we could see the real him, who's vulnerable and furious filled with guilt & regrets of what happened to his sister and him coming to terms with his emotions about Callie.
🔹As usual Jo was such a great friend every girl would love to have with her unwavering loyalty and support.
🔹Other characters like Andrea and Ethan, whom I liked in the previous one didn't have much of a role in here. Tatum played a crucial part in this one, along with his brother Chase whom I hope we'll meet in the next one and need to here his side of the story.

As a whole Book 2 didn't make much of an impression on me as I had hoped. Now on to the final book, so I have to wait & see how it's going to turn out.

Nope. Whole lotta Did Not Finish. I admit i was intrigued by this series and really liked the first book. This book started off great, not repeating the story from the first book - and i appreciate when authors write this way. Then this story just got stupid not too far in. While the sex scenes in these type of books crack me up with their terminology, that's easy enough to get past/through; buut when the heroine is stupid, impetuous, and/or as self-centered as this bitch? I can't take a lot of her. I understand she went to prison when she was 16. Apparently that is also the age that she quit maturing at as well. So her attitude reflects that of a 16 or 17 year old. She didn't mature quicker being in prison, no-she just stayed the same. I guess i just couldn't hold onto any empathy or sympathy for her and that made it hard to accept her. So her actions towards certain people in this book, and the resulting sexy time, had me throwing up my hands and walking away.

I had hope but ultimately felt disappointed in Tanner when I started reading the second part of the story. Still, I was intrigued by the truth. But the truth was brutal and tragic. The pain was sudden for these characters and they definitely didn't know how to handle it.
In this book things get out of hand, and Tanner radiates hopelessness. With bad ideas all around, this story had me cringing and worrying. I'm stressed with how a problem has grown for all these characters involved. BUT, I'm invested and hopeful for a good outcome.

There are so many twists and turns in this series it's hard to know what to expect next. I loved the development of the characters and the story. Bella did such an amazing job at helping the reader to connect to the characters. Even though it was told from the first-person view of Callie it was easy to understand how the other characters felt as well. Excellent job. This series made my heart race and break. Couldn't put it down.

Another great read

I'd give this book 4.5 stars if I could. The storyline was great and the concept was understandable, but it was hard to believe everyone became Rambo. Still a great book.
