Let me start by saying that first; I DNFed the book.
Second; WHAT IS THIS MESS?
Third: WHY SUCH A GOOD STORY HAD TO BE RUINED LIKE THAT?
Fourth: I’m so, utterly, totally, disappointed.
Okay, if you guys read my review of Stolen Soulmate, you’d know that I was waiting this book for so long and looking forward to it. I was obsessed with the story and the characters, with everything. Stolen Soulmate was such a perfect story and book that I am so freaking mad that we got this as the second book. Like, what the actual fuck?
I can actually write this review since I stopped reading at the 63% of it. So, more than enough and half the book. And kinda skipped a lot of chapters until the last two to actually believe what I was being told by other readers that also got an ARC.
Now, what happened, why the fuck did I hate it so much? well, first, it started to get messy when there were a lot of miscommunication, like, a lot of misunderstandings and things that were like ‘okay, how can you be so stupid?’. So, the characters started to do stupid shit, like Lottie allowing shit that she shouldn’t have allowed or how Grayson was trying to convince himself that he was going to be a good husband even when he was totally in love with another woman (man, how can you actually be a good husband when you cannot even get it up without thinking about the other woman? –honestly, I did like it that, since it was honest and cute–). So, the book starts with the wedding, which is totally a mess since a lot of things happens in the reception and I’m truly sorry for Lottie for having THAT wedding when she probably deserved better –at the beginning at least–. Then we have West aka Story’s first love and rapist. He is going after Story like he really loved her and that’s what he actually made her believe but nah, he didn’t fool me neither fooled Gray. Then, we have Grayson and Story fighting and not fighting, being friends but trying at the same time to control whatever feelings they supposedly have for each other –well, more like from Story’s side since I didn’t believe she was actually in love. A total mess–.
When it gets messier is when… Story founds out that she is pregnant just after burying her uncle so, not having anywhere to go since she didn’t want to go back to the palace, she decides to actually leave but since Gray knows that she’s pregnant and sees that she still wants to leave –kinda reasonable since he was married to another woman– he does the stupidest thing, which is he threaded her to fight for the custody of the baby, and obviously she doesn’t like that so she has not other alternative and marries West –yeah, her rapist. Such a good solution! Note the sarcasm–. So, then it gets just so freaking messier from there and I started to dislike even more Story after she tells Gray that she’s gonna say that the baby is West’s like, are you for real girl? Not only that but she is totally a bitch with Grayson because even when he actually tells her why he got married to Lottie, SHE DIDN’T CARE AT ALL and was, read this carefully, was insulted because he didn’t trust her, like… WHAT THE HELL YOU COULD HAVE DONE AGAISNT A POWERFUL FAMILY LIKE THE CROWNES? Are you for real, Story? Like you are a SERVANT. You couldn’t have done ANYTHING and actually worsen it. Grayson was actually trying to save her and give her a good life but she didn’t care and acted like a total brat and bitch, believing that she could’ve made a difference? Like, seriously? A TOTAL MESS. And then we have Grayson that didn’t say anything to her, not things that he should have definitely tell her so he could have her back but not! He thinks is best if he just doesn’t say anything. I was so done here. But then yeah, it can get worse, so Story started to feel fucking butterflies for West?, I’m- omg I’m sorry but what I hate the most in books is when the hero or the heroine start to feel things towards ANOTHER PERSON (I don’t care if they are just butterflies) Like, IS THAT REALLY LOVE? I don’t think so. Grayson deserved better; WAY BETTER. Like, smarter things could have gone down but this shit? Yeah, a total mess and I’m so fucking disappointed because I truly loved Story and Grayson in SS and we got FF and is a total disaster and made me actually love Grayson and hate Story in a way that I was actually so mad at the story, at the book, at the characters but more at the author. She totally ruined the story and the characters for me.
I was going to give it 1 star but since in this book Grayson behaved in a way that I liked –no cheating, totally in love with Story and just being real with his emotions– I give it 1,5 but just because of Grayson.
Honestly, this was a tv show that we see in tv and get bored because there are lots of things that happen, unnecessary things and things that could have been handled in a better way but nope.
What bothers me the most is that this was a book that I was really excited about. I was waiting for it to heal the wounds that SS left in me but it worsens them and made me feel so mad, so disappointed like I’m writing this just after deciding that I was not going to finish it since I was done with it. Like I needed to get this out because I was feeling so mad at the author that I just needed to write this now.
I feel sorry for the Grayson and Story of Stolen Soulmate because they totally deserved better. I’m so sorry sweetie.

“I don’t care if you hate me forever. I’ll cut myself on you. I’ll bleed. You’re worth it, Story Hale.”
“I can’t get you off my mind. When you’re here, you’re the only thing that exists. I’m bleeding everywhere. And you were the person I used to bleed with. What the hell am I supposed to do now? Snitch I…I’m bleeding alone too.”
“Grayson, you have to let go.”
His thumb dug. Bruising.
“I can’t let you go, Story. I’ve tried. I fail every time.”
