    This is the first book by Carolyn I have read. Emma hasn’t been home for years but she is back now. Not completely by choice. Adam is now a detective. He has never stopped loving Emma. When she comes in to his office with twigs in her hair and covered in dirt, he knows something bad has happened. Emma has stumbled onto something and found herself in trouble. Someone is after her because of what she saw. Adam has to decide if he is going to protect her himself and reopen what happened between them. Both Adam and Emma have changed. But, have they changed so much that they couldn’t work? Both Adam and Emma have guilt over something that happened when they are younger. Then Adam lost another woman he loved because of his career. Could he open his heart again? Could he take the chance on losing another woman he loves? I was hooked right from the start. This was a great suspenseful read with a hint of romance. Great job Carolyn. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

    Enjoyed the book but too many mistakes and plot holes, ring turning into a cufflink, lost keys suddenly taken out of purse. It is a pity. Also female lead has some real TSTL moments.

    Nice plot with a bit of romance…
    I just wish authors would proof read before publishing…I mean was it a ring or was it a cuff link? That error happened more than once and it’s a short story.
    If you can read through those types of things, it’s worth the read. Of course, I got it via kindle unlimited so not too pricey.

    I feel like I've been running from cartel hit man myself. This story totally sucks you in makes you Fall in love with Adam right beside Emma, relive the tragedy of their pasts and hope for the future. Carolyn is a master of suspense.

    Fall in love with this twisty suspense that will leave you begging for more. Who knows we just might get it.

    Characters were likeable but could have been developed a little more. What would have been normal police procedures were not followed in situations which took away from the story for me. I just like books to follow how things would be handled in real life.
