Jessie and Colt’s journey was nice but didn’t thrill me. I felt detached. I wasn’t absorbed by their feelings or their relationship. Besides, feelings or emotions were almost nonexistent.
I struggled to finish it... 😔😔

I was a huge fan of this one! When Colt and Jessie met, Jessie wanted nothing to do with him. She did not like anything about him....so why couldn’t she stop thinking about him? Colt went to meet Jessie because he wanted something that she had. What happens when he finds out what he wants is her heart? I enjoyed their chemistry and reading about their struggles and happy moments on their way to a HEA.

Love story of an oil tycoon heir and a yoga teacher who receives a complicated legacy
I wouldn’t say they were enemies to lovers, more like instalust to deception to lovers.
There’s lots of family drama and Texas references and slang

Jessie & Colt are both stubborn and complete opposites but they are perfect together. A chance meeting changed both their lives. A great story with great characters and the ending was perfect.

Jessie and Colt's meeting is less than impressive. She's determined not to give into the chemistry between them, just as much as he's determined to get her to give in. Billionaire or not, though, Jessie's not one for swooning over some guy...

This is a sweet read with a few heavy topics. I like the Native tribe theme, and how it's treated. And I loved them together.

Let me first say that I would love to have given this book five stars! Really, I would have! There was real chemistry between Jessie and Colt, and they didn't just spend the whole time in bed (though there is nothing wrong with that). The plot had all of the dramatic twists and turns that I've come to expect from romance novels (family drama, government/institutional drama, romantic drama- the whole shebang!) and while it was certainly unrealistic, no one comes to the romance genre expecting gripping realism! And while the happily ever after was tooth-rottingly sweet, it was a nice way to round out a book that had some surprisingly heavy topics like Native American land rights, selling out to oil companies, sexual assault, sudden illness in the family, and financial instability, though none are covered in any deep detail, which makes sense (each is far too complicated).

But what made this book 4 stars rather than 5 was how long it took to get into the nitty-gritty of the plot, (what's described in the blurb that made me want to review this book)! And I get that authors want to take the time to properly set up a story, establish the foundation from which to build the rest of the story. But the foundation wasn't all that interesting to read about. The pace in the beginning was relatively slow for a book that changed to moving at light speed towards the end. The rapid change in pace was jarring. Nothing really in the beginning was memorable, everything that was worth thinking about and liking was towards the middle to end, which I felt took away from the overall experience.

The only other small thing was that the background characters (everyone other than Colt and Jessie), felt really disposable, for lack of a better word. They felt really two dimensional, without a whole lot of defining features that made them stand out to me. I get that Colt and Jessie are the stars of the show, but I wanted the others to stand out a little more in my mind, have something about them that made them a little more interesting, to make the whole story seem just a tad more plausible.

But really, this was a sweet little read that actually made me say aww a couple of times. The chemistry is there, balanced out with some pretty good plot twists and some steamy scenes as well, so give it a read!

Absolutely loved the story of Jessie and Colt. These two can’t be more opposite, but need each other more than they know. Colt wanted to buy a property from Clint but he passed unexpectedly and left it to his heir. No one knew he had one. Since his heir was given up for adoption and never talked to the other family. Colt found out who it is and tried to get to know her but she isn’t into oil people. She hated oil. She being Jessie and a vegan was totally the opposite of the meat eating and oil Tycoon Colt. They met at hot yoga where Jessie teaches a class and from there they have a crazy connection that you’d want more than anything. Love at first sight even though she wasn’t always thinking in the right mind. She inherits a farm and needs to make money on it. One thing after another starts to happen and hate and love happens. This story is a mix of love and hate right off at the start. Will the farm make it now that Jessie has it? Will colt buy it for oil? You need to read this book.

Sloan Storm writes an excellent love-hate romance in this first installment Big Texas Billionaires called Crude- love the name btw.

You have two people that are on total opposites of everything, and yet the chemistry is the first thing they find themselves fighting. Colt goes into this whole thing (meeting, relationship, everything) with Jessie as a lie. It takes a bit for things to heat up and for Jessie to find out the truth, and to find out that Colt stands for everything she hates.

I enjoyed this back and forth story. Colt and Jessie are a great set of characters and the secondary characters keep it going too.

Jessie moved to Dallas to be with her boyfriend. That was short lived and now she's ready to move on. But her plans are derailed when she learns she's the new owner of a ranch, the same ranch a well known oil billionaire wants. Colt Kincade of Kincade Oil and Gas has had his eye on this ranch for years, even forging a real friendship with its former owner. When the deal is all but lost, he sets his sights on Jessie. An excellent negotiator, Colt can hang with the best of them, but when he meets Jessie up close and personal, all bets are off. He knows he needs to make her an offer for her land, but he's having trouble getting to the point with her. Jessie is unlike any woman he has ever known. She's his polar opposite, but despite that, he likes her. He likes who she is. If he doesn't make his move soon, he just might lose the deal he so desperately wants, but worse, he may lose the woman he so desperately needs.
I LOVED THIS STORY AND I LOVED THESE CHARACTERS ! (I would definitely read more about them in the future*hint hint) GREAT STORY, WELL WRITTEN AND ENGAGING !
EMOTIONAL, ADDICTIVE AND EXPLOSIVE ! 💕COLT WAS RELENTLESS ! ! !
AWESOME READ ! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK ! ! !

I thought i was going to enjoy this one because of the rating but omg i have never felt my time was wasted so much. First of all, there’s no chemistry at all. The romance felt rushed and forced and all about lust. Jessie was so stubborn and annoying and just fucking dumb. Colt was ok i guess but what’s with him calling her lil sprout all the time it’s not cute. This deserves only 1 star for pointing out topics like indigenous heritage, oil exploitation, harassment etc. The author was really knowledgeable in these topics mentioned in the book however the romance and story was just not it for me

He meets her under false pretenses trying to woo her into selling an inheritance she is still unaware of... or is he?

Read on for a great captivating plot following the story of vegan green-friendly Jessie confused of what to think of the oil billionaire cowboy who is the epitome of everything she's against yet her heart is falling for him and Colt who's feelings and logic are at war as to whether he should stay set business before pleasure.

This is a great story, Jessie gets left a ranch by her biological father who she never knew. Colt was in the process of buying the ranch from Clint when he died and now needs to find his secret daughter to complete the deal. Once he meets her he forgets about the deal and starts to see her but when she realises he set it all up she's hurt. They say opposites attract and this is a great example, a very entertaining read.

This is Jessie (yoga teacher) & Colt (billionaire) story.
These two are probably the most stubborn, complete opposites that ever were!
But put them together then they are perfect.
The characters are well defined and the chemistry is awesome.

Substance over waffle 😂

I loved this, it was so refreshing to read a book with a totally different context within this genre. The characters were 3 dimensional and really well thought out. The motivation of each of them totally different and believable. Will definitely read more from this author.

Sweet romance with a good plot with topics that added to the twists and revelations within the story; family sickness, Native American tribes and sexual assault. 3 stars because the heroine was so naive I had to stop reading the book numerous times to daydream about slapping or simply just shaking some sense into her.

Ugh

I’m so glad I didn’t pay for this. Just ridiculous. I got to 25% and had to stop when the h announced she is a vegan. At a charity event where everyone was eating steak. Geezzzzzz. Don’t waste your time on this stupid book.

Absolutely Fantastic! From start to finish I was captivated with the overall quality of this book, and became engrossed in the wonderful and emotionally deep story line. It is well developed and has drama, humour, unexpected twists and turns, suspense, secrets, betrayal, and more. Loveable characters; the chemistry between them is potent, undeniable and just flew off the pages. It is a very exciting read and is strongly recommended.

Amazing story, the writing was top notch and the characters feisty and loving.
"Whereever her tiny hands touched, my skin lit up like red-hot charcoal."
"Still, while she might've had fire in her eyes, I saw nothing but lust on her lips."

Jessie and Colt

Jessie is a Yoga instructor in Texas who was brought up in California.
Colt is a Texas oil Billionaire who is always looking for his next Field.
This is the story of two people with opposite views on food and the planet.
It's full of fun, drama, sadness and of course happiness and action.
It's written with feeling, and actions that keep you guessing.
I would recommend this to you if you want something a little different, than guy meets girl and everyone comes out smiling.

I was half way thru chapter one when I thought to myself that I wasnt going to like it but I pushed on. Around chapter 3 it picks up and gets so much better that I read till my eyes stopped focusing. I loved that we had a strong person in Jessies character. Her Imma stand for me and do my own thing my own way was very refreshing. But Colt, it took me a little to warm up to him. He was meh when he came into the story but then there was a couple of places I just wanted to reach thru the pages and just strangle him!! Sloan Storm gives me charters I want to kill and books that I want to finish!!

Oh wow, where to start on this story of Colt Kincade and Jesse Sunshine (love the names). From start to finish I was hooked. You have to wonder, how far will a man go to get the deal he has been working on. Well, joining a Hot Yoga class wasn’t on his list. So funny. Colt is smitten when he meets Jesse and his plans go right out the window (no spoilers). Offering to buy her farm is not on his mind this minute but it should be. Time is short and now the fun begins.
A story of, chemistry, drama, passion, secrets, heartache and so much more.
I just couldn’t put this story down. I was totally smitten and every lady will just love Colt Kincade. Problem is, I just want more of them. Loved it

Took me a little while to get into this book but I'm glad I persevered. I won't post any spoilers, but the lawyer was a big shock, I was expecting him to try and rip her off somehow, maybe buy the ranch cheap so he could sell it on at a profit sort of thing.
Loved the ending, it really got you wondering.

These characters were fascinating in their differences. These differences also made for a roller coaster ride of intense scenes lit even more so by their amazing chemistry. I loved these characters because they were awesome together but were also great on their own.
