Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Trope: cam girl, sports romance
Angst: 😱😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥🔥

GA Mazurke has completely blown me away with The Waiting Game, the second book in her New York Stars series! I absolutely adore hockey romances and her new series is topping my list of favorites with their impressive world building and fantastic character development. Waiting Game had such a great storyline that had me alternating between laughing out loud and swooning for our thoughtful hero. Just SO many green flags 💚. I love my bad boys, but you can't help but fall for Cole's cinnamon roll energy and his love of smutty romance novels. Mia is both flawed and super relatable, and I quickly became invested in her road to happiness. They had great chemistry and the smexy times between them nearly made my kindle combust, lol. Their journey was definitely a different one and the originality was super refreshing. Seriously love all the side characters and SO impatient for all their stories - the character development is just that good. I would love to see Cole's brothers get stories as well! I'm so excited by this series and love how it's still part of the Five Points Universe, so we can still get cameos by all our favorite Sinners and Feckers. This book is a definite recommend!

I'm absolutely, completely, fully obsessed with Cole.

This follows Mia and Cole. It's book 2 in the New York Stars series. It can be read as a standalone, but I think it will be a richer experience if the series is read in order. I did not read the first book and was able to follow it just fine. But I know that the hero and heroine from book one are in this one and a decent chunk of the issues around the relationship stem from them.

Mia is an ice-skating trainer, a cam girl, and is taking over her uncle's bar since he just passed away. She meets Cole because he signed up for training. They have chemistry right away and it leads to a very steamy night. Afterwards Cole gets a call back home and his friend and teammate let him know that Mia is off limits because of what happened in book one. Despite not wanting to, he ends further training with Mia and cuts things off with her. He learns about her being a cam girl while he's home with his family and can't deny himself. He signs up and continues to talk to her and see how through the site. From there he falls for her while also helping her financially. Mia is drowning in debt and struggling to get from day to day while juggling everything and working constantly. Cole secretly helping her financially through the cam site is the only thing that keeps her afloat. Eventually they talk again and meet up in person because Cole can't stay away from her.
They start talking and spending time together after that.
There is a lot going on in this book. The side characters are awesome and the found family is incredible. She has the family from the bar. He has his real family, the family he stayed with for a while, and his teammates. And I loved them all (except his dad). I want books for all of his brothers and teammates. Seriously, I NEED them.
I didn't love Gracie, but I think I would have if I had read book one, so I tried to let that go. That's why I think this might be better if book one first - more background and I probably would have sympathized with Gracie and Liam more in this book had I read what they went through.
The cats are cute - Mia has 5 of them...well, 6 kind of.

The star of this book is Cole though. Honestly, he's just great. He reads romance books (and binds them). It's a big part of the book; he references it often and I loved every single second of it. He's thoughtful, sweet, has a fantastically dirty mouth, he's loyal and dedicated, and he hates miscommunication so he's on top of it constantly.

This is a long book. I read it in one day...a workday. That should tell you how much I absolutely loved it. Now I'm going back to read the first one so I'm fully caught up and ready for more to come!

One of the best reads of 2024, Waiting Game is such an amazing story. This story had so much love, happiness, hurt, friendship, hockey and steam.

Mia was left with a pretty hefty amount of debt. She has lot to take care her cats, and everything that entails to take care of her bar. The bars that’s been in her family for generations. She does everything she has to do even being a cam girl.

Cole has a love for reading (swoon) and he finally landed where he is meant to be and his billet brothers. Cole has new challenges of being in a new town and team. Also you see him what he has to endure with his own family back home.

Mia and Cole story was a little tricky. Seeing that Mia betrayed someone close to Cole. And Cole had his loyalty to said person. You see all the the ups and down they both have to go through especially in their own personal lives. The struggles Mia has from the very beginning. And Cole helping in every possible way. It’s great to see how they navigate their relationship when secrets are exposed. I love how determine he is to keep Mia to himself even if he is betraying a friendship.

Arc provided for honest review.

Holy…this book was so freaking good. I couldn’t put it down. This is the 2nd book in the New York Stars series and it definitely doesn’t disappoint. I absolutely loved Cole in all his smut loving/reading glory. Everything he did for Mia just made you love him more. Mia definitely went through it but she kept going. I liked that about her. I highly recommend this book. Loved seeing the cameos on this book.

Waiting Game 🎧 narrated to perfection by Aaron Shedlock and CJ Bloom.

Wow! These narrators were absolutely amazing as Cole and Mia. They brought so many emotions to the story and rocked the duet style throughout. I loved hearing all the characters telling their part of the tale. I was on that rollercoaster with them right until the end... Immensely enjoyable 🎧

I'm just so happy to be back in the New York Stars world... in this much anticipated second book in the series that goes from strength to strength.

From the very beginning my heart melted reading Cole Korhonen and Mia Charles' story in Waiting Game.

I swooned, gasped, laughed, cried, and got all in my feels reading this. I also needed a few moments to cool down after some off-the-charts steamy scenes.

Cole proved he was not just a pretty face, but the perfect blend of hot NHL superstar and the model real life BBF, with his own unique style.

He has his own sense of worth and does all he can to build up Mia after she suffers more tragedy in her hard life. She is still hurting, and Cole is there for HER in all the ways.

Their chemistry was electrifying, and their banter was oft hilarious, but sweet and sentimental too. The fact that he was so into romance novels mwah!

There's so much depth to this story and lots to treasure:

• The group text chats

• The 'C' Korhonen family dynamics

• The billet boys and their future

• The new GM Gracie rocking her role

• The cameos from old favourites!

If you want a sweet, swoony, steamy, and sublime read, this is for you, enjoy!

Cole is a hockey player who gets transferred to the New York Stars and the perfect book boyfriend - he reads and loves romance books, has massive golden retriever vibes, a kirky dress sense, and is basically a human shaped green flag.

Mia is a little flawed but loveable and so relatable with her love of cats. Mia has just lost her uncle and now owns the family legacy bar and she is drowning in debt and while she made a questionable decision to pay the bills previously (which lead to Cole being forbidden from seeing her) this time she turns to being a cam girl. Cue forbidden romance when Cole discovers her site in a brilliant way and becomes her (for lack of a better word) benefactor.

Cole and Mia's chemistry is perfection and the steam between the two of them might just melt your Kindle. Their meet cute and growing relationship while sad in some parts is also refreshing and I loved their journey together.

The group chats and the cameos from Satan's Sinners and Five Points were the icing on the cake for an already amazing book.

I absolutely need Cole's brothers to have their own stories! And I can't wait for this series to continue and see what happens next.

Cole and Mia's story balances brilliantly on the razor's edge between heartstring tugging and laugh inducing and my friends is why this book has no trouble sucking you in and having you falling hard. This romance delivers HUGE Feels and some serious swoon. For me, Cole felt like a very unique book boyfriend. He was constantly surprising me and making me think every single woman deserves their own Cole in real life. As for Mia, she shredded my heart. There was just so much going on with her and her life that I could personally relate to. Altogether, this was an irresistible romance that I simply adored. Can't wait for book three!

OK I seriously couldn’t put this book down. From start to finish, the writing was absolutely superb.
Cole and Mia together were absolutely explosive. I loved how this man read romance novels. I thought that was absolutely fantastic.
Mia had so many struggles yet she was a fighter, and she never gave up. I absolutely love that quality about her and Cole was her perfect match because he never gave up on her no matter how many obstacles he knew were in their way.
I loved all the surprise cameo appearances that Gemma just has the most amazing way of weaving into her stories and all their text messages just had me laughing out loud.
This was definitely a five star read for me. I can’t wait for the next book.

Looking for a smut-loving himbo with a heart of gold? Look no further than our MMC, Cole Korhonen. Cole is such a lovable character, as is the FMC, Mia. I loved watching their relationship grow from one night stand to “We’re really doing this dating thing?”

I especially loved Cole’s smut obsession and how he communicates with Mia. Miscommunication is his least favorite trope, so it makes sense. 🤣 He was always open and honest, which was refreshing to read.

I do feel like you need to read the first book in this series (End Game), just to help you understand some of the struggles Mia faces.

Overall, this was a great read and I can’t wait to see what happens next with these hockey players (and Cole’s brothers)!

I was so excited to be back in the New York Stars world, and this second book in the series was pure perfection.

If you haven’t read the first book in the series, I suggest you do. It sets the scene for this world and introduces a lot of the characters. In fact, the characters from the first book weight heavily in the plot of this book, and honestly if you haven’t read their story they look like jerks. IJS.

This book had me hooked from the first page until the last. As always with this author, her reads are girthy but never cumbersome. I plowed through this book in one day off and couldn’t get enough. Her plot lines are intricately and perfectly crafted and woven, the writing and editing are amazing, and the steam will melt your kindle and your panties. We also get the hilarity of the group chats, the billet boys family dynamics, the Stars team mates dynamics, some new dynamics in the Korhonen family, and some cameos from this author’s alter ego series.

Cole is quite literally the book boyfriend with flair that everyone needs. His style is all his own, and own it he does. He’s a romance reading cinnamon roll NHL superstar who falls head over heels for the very person he shouldn’t. And he falls hard ::big sigh::

Mia has had a lot of tragedy in her life. And unfortunately last year made a decision that cost her the one friend she really had. And also cost her in her relationship with Cole. She’s a fighter, but hurting, and desperate to keep holding on to a family legacy.

These two are fire together. Their chemistry is amazing, their banter is hilarious but also sweet and swoony. He reads romance and bound her a book himself y’all!! ::swoon::

This isn’t a book.” For the first time, she sounds angry.

“Maybe it isn’t. But that doesn’t mean we can’t have a HEA.”

“A HE-what?”

I grunt. “I need to get you reading my sh!t, Mia. You need to know this stuff. I mean, we’re not third-act breakupping this. No f-ing way.”

OMG. I can’t get enough of these characters in the New York Stars series. G. A. Mazurke does it again with Waiting Game - creating a story that pulls you in and before you know it, hours have passed and you’ve read the last page wanting more of the story. Mia has had it tough over the years and does what she has to survive and save Chuck’s, the family bar. Then add in all her side hustles to help keep everything a float, which leads her to coaching skating lessons for Cole the star hockey player. The moment these two meet the connection is strong and chemistry is off the charts, but with her life falling apart, Cole swoops in and helps her out. Cole is not your average hockey player, he reads and is the ultimate Golden Retriever hero. He can’t take the pain that Mia is in and helps her out. These two have an insane night together and then poof, he goes cold turkey because of her past. But let me tell you, this book takes you on a wild ride that keeps bringing these two together in the most uncommon and random ways that makes sense for Mia and Cole. Mia’s other side hustle -being a cam girl brings Cole back in, but without her knowing. As these two spend more time together Cole and Mia build that bond and eventually learn about the other. And as they continue their secret relationship things only get more intense and insane, that you have to read to find out what will happen between these two as well as all the other drama that continues to unfold in Cole and Mia’s lives. This book is addicting and will keep you on the edge of your seat wanting to know what happens. Add in the hilarious banter among Cole’s billet family and actually brothers, as well as the emotional rollercoaster you are put on the minute you start reading, you’ll be left wanting the next book now!

The thing I love about this gifted storyteller's work is that there's no fluff or fill in her stories. Everything is vital or entertaining and I’ve yet to be bored with her writing. After I read the first book in this series, I blazed my way through the Five Points series that the New York Stars hockey world spins off from. If you’re at all a mafia fan, check out the series under her Serena Akeroyd pen name.

Cole Korhonen has decided to take figure skating lessons to help him with his moves on the ice. He and his new teacher, Mia Charles, hit it off and spent some extra time together off of the ice. *wink, wink* Then he finds out from his billet brother and new team captain that she’s off limits. Let the ghosting commence, except he has the valid excuse of a family emergency that takes him out of town.

While home with his brothers, he stumbles across cam-girl Mia, and his caveman, possessive protector comes roaring to the surface. He makes an anonymous deal with the cam girl for exclusive viewing privileges, offering an exorbitant amount of money. And it's money Mia desperately needs.

Mia loves her uncle, but he left her in quite a bind when he died and willed his sports bar to her. She’s in debt up to her eyeballs, trying to keep her head above water and the doors open so her faithful staff can keep their jobs. When her relationship with in-person Cole picks back up and she finds out that he's her virtual benefactor, she'll have to figure out a different way to save the bar's finances.

I already raved about this crafty wordsmith's writing, but dang, Cole and Mia's story is so ridiculously good! Subplots and secondary stories with so many loveable characters really make this one stand head and shoulders above other sports romances. Funny, heartfelt, poignant, and super steamy, you’ll love every second you spend with Mia and Cole in the New York Stars world!

🌶️🌶️🌶️.5

Waiting Game is the 2nd book in the New York Stars series. I highly recommend you read the first book before reading this one since Mia betrayed the heroine in that book, which leads to issues in this one. I won’t go into that betrayal, just in case you haven’t read the first book yet.

Mia is going through some serious hard times when she meets Cole. She is going to give him some figure skating lessons to improve his finesse on the ice. They hit it off immediately even though she is mourning the loss of her uncle. Cole is a comfort to her, and she ends up inviting him over for an amazing one-night stand. However, Cole is the billet brother to the heroine from the first book and has to stay away from Mia since she betrayed her badly. He cuts ties with her until he finds out she is a cam girl and decides he wants to be her only customer.

Mia has to be a cam girl because she has inherited her uncle’s bar and an insane amount of debts. Cole wants to help her, so she does not need to be a cam girl and starts to fall for her through their online communications. One day, he finally reaches out to her to ask for another chance, and they start to date. He is hiding their relationship from Gracie and her boyfriend until they can make sure this is the real deal.

Let me tell you, Cole was absolute perfection in this book! He is a huge smut, romance reader, Omegaverse fan, and he uses all that to woo Mia in the best way. I love how he said that he hated the miscommunication trope, and he proves it by always being completely honest with Mia. The fact that he bound fanfiction for her is just… true love. He is the perfect man for all of us romance readers. He is such a fun-loving, crazy dressing man, and he was perfect for Mia. He was so supportive and understanding. I was worried I wouldn’t like Mia after reading the first book, but I really empathized with her and loved her character. I even got annoyed with Gracie in this book.

The found family, billet family, and other side characters were amazing, I even got so emotional over a side character’s trauma. I also loved seeing some characters from Serena’s 5 Points Mafia and her MC series. Cammie was one of my favorites. Cole’s actual family needs to have their own series stat. There is also a ton of animal love throughout this book, with their cats and the horses. I just loved this hockey romance.

Thank you to Give Me Books PR and the author for providing the ARC.

Waiting games is Cole and Mia’s story, and I have to say I am absolutely in love with Cole from his quirky fashion sense for his love of romantic books, and happy ever afters, and for his love of his brothers, and also his brothers and his sister from another mister, he is just an all round amazing guy who is open and honest and doesn’t like miscommunication. Just absolutely love Cole.

Mia has not had it easy in life, from all the heartache she has had and her trying to keep her uncles pub chucks going because it’s a legacy from her great grandfather she has had to conquer a lot from losing her best friend, through betrayal to Cam Girling and teaching figure skating, to keep Chuck going. She is a kind caring soul, who came out, fighting to keep a legacy alive and her love of cats, but not just any cats but cats that have no home. She takes them in and gives them love they are her family

As Cole is sitting at a ice ring, waiting for his figure skating coach to show up he’s on a dating site hooked up, and he swipes right on one that he likes. He hears a ping, and when he locks up, he shocked to see that Mia his figure skating coach is who he’s just swiped right on and Cole is smitten straight away, even though Mia is crying as her uncle had died earlier that day. When Cole speaks to Liam about her, he realises that she was Gracie friend who betrayed her and he warned Cole to call it off because it would be a betrayal to Gracie. When Cole cancels his next figure skating session with Mia because he has to go home as his father has been taken ill. She doesn’t believe him While at home Cole walked into his younger brothers bedroom and he’s on his computer watching a camgirl and this is when he realises that Mia is doing camgirl which he is not happy about so he takes his brother’s laptop and changing all his passwords. He then becomes his brother so he can keep seeing Mia and things snowball from there and boy what a ride they have

I love this story I was really sad when it finished as I could’ve just kept on reading more about Cole and Mia. I absolutely love Cole and Mia‘s characters and how they fit together so well and how they that support each other through the tough times and also the good times I would highly recommend this series to anyone to read.

I am so glad to be back with the Stars! This is the second book in the series and I think I loved it even more than the first. And that’s saying a lot because I was obsessed with Liam and Gracie!

Cole is a Billet Brother. He stayed with Gracie’s family so we saw a bit of him in book one but I don’t think we got the full scope of who Cole is. He loves brightly colored clothes and smutty romance books. He loves his brothers and has a soft spot for animals.

Mia is someone I think we all kind of hold a grudge against. She did something awful. But we get to see a WHOLE DIFFERENT side of her here. She’s an only child who has had unimaginable loss in her life. She’s a figure skater who knows absolutely nothing about sports. She’s a cam-girl on the side to help pay for her Uncle’s bar. She’s obsessed with cats and reads sci-fi novels.

They meet when they swipe right on each other through a hook up app. And she ends up being his figure skating coach. They hit it off right away! But he ghosts her because of his loyalty to Gracie. He can’t stop thinking about her though and through random circumstance, he finds out she’s a cam-girl. He refuses to stop talking to her after he starts watching her cam-girl videos!

Cole and Mia are both afraid to get in too deep but can’t seem to stop falling for each other. The spicy scenes are so good. There’s not many of them. And that’s ok to me because I’m here for the story!

I NEED to know more about Cole’s brothers. I needed more from that storyline because I wasn’t ready for this book to be over! Colt, Cody, and Callan seem like they have some story that I need to know.

I could go on and on and tell you everything you need to know about this book but here’s what you need to know, IT IS SO GOOD. READ IT.

If you’ve read G.A. Mazurke or Serena Akeroyd, you’ll love it. The world building she does is some of the best I’ve ever read. It will pull you in so you’ll want to read every book. You’ll develop feelings and opinions about each and every character. It will make it so hard for you to finish the book because you’ll want it to keep going.

I loveeeeeed Cole and Mia and I’m already ready to read it again!

5 stars from me

Man, oh man. I am swooning hard over Cole Korhonen. “Waiting Game” is a flirty, swoony and steamy hockey romance that I devoured because Cole and Mia’s story was so good.

Cole Korhonen has been traded to the New York Stars and is so happy to be reunited with his billet family. Always striving to be the best, he hires Mia to be his skating coach. But before meeting officially, he swipes right on her in a dating app. They spend the night together but Cole ends up ghosting her due to a family emergency. Mia has also recently taken over her uncle’s sports bar after his passing and is under a huge pile of debt. To make up some income, Mia is a cam girl. And after Cole discovers this, he makes her his cam girl.

Oh my gosh, I was so excited when this hit my kindle that I had to start right away. Cole has easily become one of my favorite book boyfriends. He’s caring, genuine, and is someone I would want in my corner supporting me. He’s unapologetically himself with his style and I loved that about him, there is nothing more attractive than a man with confidence. And I loved Mia from the beginning and related to her so much. She struggled with her uncle’s business by wanting to keep it opening even with its debt. And she’s also as confident as Cole and that’s why they are the perfect match. To be a cam girl, you’ve got to own who you are and love your body. She screams body confidence and that made me love her even more. These two are the perfect balance of confident and quirky. And those scenes when she was a cam girl for him were deliciously spicy. These two were just so perfect together and I can’t wait for the next book in the series!

Why is Cole the bestest book boyfriend - let me count the ways:

Cole is a Swiftie and needs to listen to TSwift before every game
Cole has BDE and the energy and excitement like Tigger
He wears hot pink pants and has a bubble butt and an IDGAF attitude
He reads smutty romances and KNOWS our secrets ladies!

Waiting Game is book 2 in the New York Stars Series. You can definitely start there - it is a complete standalone but you will want to find out Liam & Gracie's story in End Game too 😉

I absolutely LOVE the world that G.A. builds and the EXTRAs - The group texts, the "I told you so blog", the sports news, just everything that draws you in. I am so happy to be back in the New York Stars world - and for those who are fans of Serena's Five Points Mob and Dark & Dirty Sinners - you will see some familiar faces 😉

I would rate this as a 3 on my spice scale. Lots of spice but an amazing storyline to go with! Happy reading!

All of these hockey books are making me an even bigger fan! The New York Stars are the best though! Not only are they hawwwt but they are connected! Anytime Sinners and Feckers make cameos I can’t help but get giddy. Cole is one of the bestest and quirkiest book boyfriends out there. I have never been described in male book form but I swear someone listed all my quirks and sent them in - we share our love of pineapple pizza, The Smuthood, Torville and Dean’s dance has never been beat, and even the love of our favorite color combo - green and purple! I am so thrilled that Cole found his equal in Mia - they are perfect together. I feel for Callan but Cole is a great big brother and I know the author will make sure he finds the one to live him back. So looking forward to Matt’s story! As a side note: I absolutely love the text chats in these books. They are so so so fun to read and I feel like I know everyone better thru them! Chefs kiss…job well done! 🧑‍🍳💋

⭐ - 5/5
🔥 - 3.5
🧮 - HighlyRecommend
💜 - Tropes: hockey romance, camgirl, golden retriever hero, secret relationship, curvy girl
📚 - Standalone or series: Interconnecting standalone, this is book 2 in the series.

When I saw the tropes listed for this book, it was an automatic sign-me-up! There's just something about a secret relationship trope that makes me want to devour it! Throw in the fact he's a bookish freak and she's determined to make her way and I'm all in my dudes!

Cole - He amused me in book 1. He has a sense of humor that is engaging. His banter not only with his found family but with Mia drew me in quickly. What kept me was the fact that there are many layers to him. There's the guy who is loyal, determined, not ashamed to love smut books, and dedicated. He's not without his faults of course. Which makes him feel more raw and relatable. His fashion sense also got me. I mean, how can it not?

Mia - At first I didn't know how I felt about her being the love interest in this book. I was irritated because of previous things. However, that irritation went away as we got deeper into her background. This woman goes through it and it's a lot. Her ability to keep going through sheer stubbornness made me applaud her. She's tough, yet soft. Resilient yet raw. She isn't ashamed of what she does, and I love that she embraces that part of her. I fully admit she made me laugh and tear up.

Their journey was an interesting one. Plenty of ups and downs throughout the book. Some small, some big. I would say that through the first half of the book, it felt slower than I would have liked. Then when a twist happens, it picks up. I enjoyed these two. I'm excited to see them appear in the next books. Bring on the next one!

Serena Akeroyd has always delivered in the sexy sensual chemistry department and she hasn’t disappointed yet writing as G.A Mazurke. This sports romance series has me all kinds of revved up and we are only two books in! Speaking of this series, I highly recommend you read the first, End Game, before you read Waiting Game. I have my reasons, which I won’t detail in case you’re new to this world, but I’ll just say it is important to understand the characters better if you do. Do with that information what you will.

Another excellent trait this author has in her writing is uniqueness. I’ve always found her stories not to be cliché or trite. Even when she writes tropes I’ve read a million times, she always adds little titbits here and there that sets her stories apart from the norm in every trope she has written. For example, Mia becoming a cam-girl to make ends meet. You just don’t read that every day. Feel me? There are tons more but you’ll have to read to find out LOL Another unique trait she has is that every plot point has a meaning to the forwarding of the stories. She doesn’t write drama for dram’s sake, and she doesn’t fill her stories with unnecessary sub-plots that are not a direct relation to the romance journey. Almost always, no one is perfect LOL

4.5 STARS but half stars are not a thing and this story deserves a round-up!

This was a very welcome return to the world of the NY Stars. There is an extended cast of characters that can be a little hard to keep straight at first but they're all so well developed it does become easier and I am DESPERATE for more in this series.

This is Mia and Cole's story and was not quite what I was expecting when I realised who Mia was. I mean cam girl!?! But I loved both the FMC and MMC so much once I got to know them. Although I have no idea what Cole's wardrobe looked like as I could not imagine his outfits properly! Ha ha. I adored his obsession with romance books and he was just so open and honest all the time with Mia, it was refreshing.

Looking forward to reading more about the other billet bros and hopefully the other guys in Cole's family. With the kind of characters and story development the first two books showed this is definitely a series worth sticking with.

I was excited to start the read and the wait was totally worth it. The author delivered everything I expected and more. Once again I lost myself in her writing and the amazing world she has created. Cole and Mia had my heart from the start and as I got to know them the more in fell. I was rooting for them and wanted to know how they end up together. The spice was off the charts and there chemistry sizzling hot. I was swooning over Cole throughout the read. The character development was phenomenal. I loved the secondary characters and cannot wait for there books. This read is a complete package as its a fun read filled with emotions. Thanks to the author and Wildfire Marketing for the advanced copy of this amazing read.

Waiting Game was so good! G.A. Mazurke could write a manual on building rockets at this point and I would still devour it within hours. I absolutely loved Cole. He was so unique, happy, and sweet. I loved his personality and sparkle. He was a great book boyfriend. Mia was perfect for him. I loved her and her personality. She was so sweet, kind, and loyal. I loved how she wasn't perfect but she was still amazing. The writing was so good. The story was fun, fast paced, and spicy. There were tons of lol moments but also so really deep and emotional ones as well. I loved the banner and relationship between all the characters. I cannot wait for more books from this world and books from Cole's siblings!

I was lucky to receive an ARC of this book! I was introduced to Serena Akeroyd and G. A. Mazurke by a coworker of mine and I was hooked from the beginning!

I loved the first book on this series and the second one is no different! G. A. Mazurke needs to write more to fill my need of these guys!

I loved the relationship between Cole and Mia and the texts between the two of them made me die laughing at times!

The bonus chapter was also amazing!

Waiting Game by Serena Akeroyd w/a G.A. Mazurke is book Two in the New York Stars Series. This is the story of Cole Korhonen and Mia Charle. This is a interconnecting series so it will add to your enjoyment if you have read the previous book. But, with that said this can be a standalone book. Cole is a start Hockey player who has come to New York. Mia is an Ice Skater who Uncle just died leaving her the family bar. But she is struggling to make it. Mia and Cole are really attracted to each other but Cole has been warned off of Mia. I really enjoyed this book and I can't wait for more from this series and author!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I would read anything this author writes, I just adore her style. This 2nd sports romance from her is sheer perfection. The well researched sports elements add so much to a sports romance. Then we have fantastic characters. I adore these two together. The perfect mix of sweet romance and spicey heat along with a romance reading hero! The storyline was also excellent and leads me to wanting books for so many characters. Loved it!

Love this couple. Mia is adorable and Cole is nothing short of HOT. Their banter and relationship was everything. I loved the ups and downs and felt all the heart-warming moments and loved the chemistry.
Now if we could get guys to love romance books like Cole does - we’d all be #winning. So many emotions and maybe a tear or two were shed in this book.
Loved this book so very much.

"I’ve always loved my job, but since Mia and I started dating, something’s shifted inside me. It’s as if my happiness is amplifying everything that I love doing."

Cole is perfect leading man material. As my fave quote shows, he gives off strong golden retriever vibes. He has bountiful energy, positivity and loyalty in spades. He has a unique take on fashion/colour and a love of all things smutty romance (I feel you Cole, same!). I mean, who wouldn't love a guy that'll buy a 🐓 ring to role-play alpha/omega.

Mia, on the other hand, is loyal, but maybe to the wrong people. Waiting Game gives her a redemption after her betrayal of Gracie in the previous book. We get to know her, the situation she is in, and the lengths she will go to to protect her family legacy and her employees. She finds herself camgirling to pay the debts she is saddled with by her Uncle. I loved her for her fierce independence and her strength to keep going despite the sadness that haunts her. She has a deep loneliness in her heart that she fills with a love for her cats.

Waiting Game is a quirky, funny, sometimes emotional (I wept ugly tears a couple of times when these two talked about loss and pets) romcom. Cole is unlike any book MMC I've ever read. Gemma self consciously plays with the tropes of romance and Cole’s love of romance novels. The book gives a funny (and accurate) view on life as a romance reader. But we all know we're in it for the happy endings 😁

Oh and if you love all things Serena Akeroyd/ GA Mazurke, there are appearances from some of my favourite kick ass women from this shared world. My inner feminist was happy 😊

Edited to add: I've just finished the audio of this book. Aaron Shedlock and CJ Bloom capture Mia and Cole perfectly. Seriously, Aaron just gets Cole's quirkiness and golden retriever devotion. And CJ Bloom makes a gorgeously vulnerable Mia. I loved hearing this story performed as it highlighted the emotion behind every bit of the story. Cannot fault this 5* audio.
