4.1 out of 5 stars 32 ratings

A tragic past…

Lost and confused, I ran.
Ran from the demons that haunted me.
From a past filled with pain and secrets.

A relapse…

But I was lost.
Confused.
And the darkness suffocated me.
My soul was shattered.

And then Cole Hunter steppes into my life again.
And he loved me.
Every broken part of me was his.
He was my protector.

And I was his world.
Our love was messy, heart-stopping…
Beautiful.
But he was my Redemption.

I definitely enjoyed this book more than the first one, though rating it was equally as hard. It was a nice read and I can't really complain about anything, but it also didn't wow me. Although there were some sweet and also some heart-rending moments, I didn't connect with the characters and therefore felt like the odd one out.

The story was good; it started where the first book left off and since Kat never fully dealt with what had happened to her, it was just a matter of time when it would all come rushing up on her.
Now that Kat’s past caught up with her and she started taking pills again, she struggled with her demons and was falling hard and fast down the rabbit hole. Kat lost herself in her drug abuse and wasn't herself anymore, acted out and only wanted to numb her feelings.

While I understood that she acted a certain way because of the drugs and alcohol, I still didn't like this very rude side of her. I just didn't like her pitying herself and thinking of how Cole couldn't love her broken self. She thought about missing her friends but ran away and hid all the time. Her contradictions annoyed me and her emotional outbursts surprised me since she took the pills to numb them in the first place but it didn't seem to help all that much.

Cole loved Kat but she ignored him and constantly pushed him away. He didn’t know why and what happened to her to act that way but he wasn't giving up so fast, especially because he couldn’t stop thinking about her.

I don't know how I would have acted as her friend but just watching from the sidelines as she wasted away wasn't what I expected. Thank god for Cole and how worried he was about her. I loved that he cared so deeply about her and that he always had her back no matter how awful she was. He also spoiled her rotten because he cared very much about her and wanted her to be and feel safe. That was one of the things I liked most about this book, Cole caring for her, not the spoiling part. He really was a sweetheart. That’s what I call love, standing by someone’s side through the though parts, not only the good ones.

Man this one rocked my emotions. I felt so bad for Kat and what she was going through. And Cole being such a great guy really tried with her.

I loved the first book and couldn't wait to order the second. I read it as soon as I received it. It had me in tears the first few chapters because of the pain that Katharine was going through. I loved that Cole waited for her and he was her everything and she finally saw that. It took her long enough to see it. It was good but there were so many grammatical errors! I don't know who the proof reader was but they need to be fired! Sometimes I had to reread the sentence to make sure it wasn't a mistake and then it slows down the flow of the story. For example when Katherine's mom called Cole and she said Mrs. Rhodes? When clearly it should have been Mr.
One chapter said her mom's name was Vera but then they called her Wendy in the next chapter. Just too many errors. Maybe it was rushed so that it could be out for January 21st?

3.0 out of 5 stars Too much sex and needs good editing!

The second half of Katherine and Cole's story was, as in book 1, almost drowned by the endless sexual exploits of Katherine due to her past traumas and I must say I got a little tired of it. A good story, which this had at its heart, can be buried beneath repeated sex acts that add little by being so repetitive.

However, the worst for me was the slapdash editing. Words left out...unnecessary or senseless words left in....words repeated, sentences that went nowhere.....and several instances where Cole's surname was misspelled. It's not that difficult to spell Rhodes correctly! It was less annoying in book 1 but not by much.
