The Hot Mess and the Heartthrob (Copper Valley Bro Code Book 4) Kindle Edition
You don’t know me, but you do know me. I’m your neighborhood hot mess single mom, doing my best to keep my head above water while running my little slice of heaven and keeping my youngest from shoving marbles up his nose, which is exactly what he’s doing the first time Levi Wilson, pop star god, world’s sexiest man, and my all-time number one celebrity obsession, walks into my bookstore.
Related: I’m writing this from beyond the grave, because I’ve died of mortification and am now residing in an alternate universe.
I have to be.
Because Levi Wilson came back.
And we had a moment.
Like, a moment moment. The kind that makes me remember that adult pleasure isn’t all about hoping the lock holds in the bathroom so your kids don’t interrupt on the rare occasion you feel like taking an extra-long mommy-time shower.
So when he proposes a no-strings fling?
Count. Me. In.
Thrill of a lifetime, right?
Surely, nothing will go wrong...
The Hot Mess and the Heartthrob is a rockin’ fun, sexy romantic comedy featuring a celebrity panty-melter who doesn’t know what he’s been missing, a sassy single mom hanging on by a string, three adorable children who would never burst in on a woman when she’s on a toilet (ha!), and shameless ovary-busting moments between a guy who never thought he’d be a dad and a family who thought they got along just fine without him. It stands alone and comes complete with a happily-ever-after.

About the author

Pippa Grant wanted to write books, so she did.
Before she became a USA Today and #1 Amazon bestselling romantic comedy author, she was a young military spouse who got into writing as self-therapy. That happened around the time she discovered reading romance novels, and the two eventually merged into a career. Today, she has more than 30 knee-slapping Pippa Grant titles and nine published under the name Jamie Farrell.
When she’s not writing romantic comedies, she’s fumbling through being a mom, wife, and mountain woman, and sometimes tries to find hobbies. Her crowning achievement? Having impeccable timing for telling stories that will make people snort beverages out of their noses. Consider yourself warned.

- Reviewed in Canada on January 12, 2021Verified PurchaseI know better than to read anything by Pippa Grant with a drink in hand. I know better and yet...
I'm pretty sure the spacebar on my laptop is totally screwed up now after reading The Hot Mess and the Heartthrob!!! This book had me laughing from the get go. I can't remember a book that had me in tears and spitting out my drinks as much as this one did in a while. Not since one of Zeus' well timed newsletter stories, I don't think...
Another Bro Code book and this time it's Levi's turn to find his happily ever after. Who ever would have thought that this musical heartthrob would fall in love with the hot mess single mama that is Ingrid? I think that's why it's one of the best stories that Pippa has ever delivered. The bar is really high now lady, but you just keep exceeding that bar!
Of the Bro Code boys, I think that Levi is my favourite. He's this funny, sweet sort of man child but no matter what I thought about Beck, Levi is a mama's boy. He loves his mom and if my spawn grows up to be that sweet and caring, I think it would be considered a job well done! He's also the only one of the boys that has never seemed like the ultimate player. He's never searched for that happily ever after and when he accidentally stumbles his way into Ingrid's bookstore when he gets lost in his own hometown, the sparks fly over yodelling pickles.
And Ingrid... I'm pretty sure that Ingrid Scott is my Hot Mess Mama spirit animal.
As always, there are Pippaverse studded cameos by not only the Bro Code boys but also several members of the Fireballs, some very enthusiastic Thrusters players (and the wife of my favourite Berger brother though no dummies in tow), a pop superstar, and a drunk squirrel named Skippy. If you thought this could be a Pippa Grant book without a whacky animal, well you thought wrong.
One click this baby today! You'll laugh 'til you cry and then laugh some more but your will definitely not regret a moment of this story.

- Reviewed in Canada on July 10, 2022What I love about Pippa's writing is that she is so stinking funny. I find myself in absolute hysterics much of the time. The story is character driven with a nice about of spice in there. And there's a squirrel. Be prepared for tears of laughter.
- Reviewed in Canada on February 7, 2022Verified PurchaseLove Ingrid and Levi's story. The kids are fantastic and just as much fun as kids can be. I was into the story from start to finish and always enjoy the crossover of characters from other books.

Steamy and hilarious, loved this book so much!
Totally recommend reading.
- Reviewed in Canada on March 27, 2021Verified PurchaseI have always enjoyed reading about Levi in the other Bro Code books so it was great to finally read his story. He is just as big a sweetheart as I thought he would be. This book was a lot of fun and Ingrid’s children give the reader many laugh out loud moments. Things drag a bit in the middle but improve by the last twenty percent of the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars laugh out loud hilarious, very romantic and the importance of family all together. A great read.
Verified PurchaseI have read all the 4 Bro Code series and loved them all. I from the UK where we don’t have baseball so I have no idea what a bleacher is or any of the other baseball words but I do know about relationships, love and large families and Pippa does them all do well, so thank you Pippa for hours of enjoyable reading. You’re a great storyteller.

5.0 out of 5 stars A lovely read
Verified PurchaseSweet, humorous, genuine.
I don't usually start a new author at book four of a series. What a treat it was to break my usual habit for this delightfully quirky romance by Pippa Grant.
Many thanks for bringing the goods.

5.0 out of 5 stars “This is What Love is Supposed to Be . . .
Verified Purchase". . . When We all Feel like We're Getting the Best Part of the Bargain.”
With a nod or two to our favorite raccoon, this book is chock full of cameos from many characters who already have a special place in our hearts. Between Thrųsters hockey, Fıreballs baseball and Bro Code band members, there's no telling who might show up. But I’m pretty sure the introduction of Skippy the apartment-sqųatting squirrel is enough to keep us all on our toes. Then there's Ingrid and, well, her life in general.
Ingrid Scott is, indeed, one hòt mess. As a bookstore owner and single parent of three lively children, life has taken her far away from the precise, ordered military existence she once knew.
To say her kids, Piper, Zoe, and Hudson, are lively is an understatement. Each one is a handful, and Ingrid only has two hands, bless her heart. Her days are full of chauffeuring kids from school to multiple extra-curricular activities, fishing foreign objects out of her four-year-old's nose, and cleaning up the latest disaster, while being there for other frazzled mothers who come to her bookstore for a moment’s peace and moral support. Very little in her life is orderly, but Ingrid is selfless, down to earth, charming, and oh so relatable. She's every mom who's ever been at her wit's end.
This book has all the delightful, madcap hilarity and tomfoolery we've come to expect from this talented wordsmith but with an extra poignant sweetness that squeezes the heart in the most exquisite way. And Levi Wilson? Gah! The man is sweetness overload!
Sure, he may be the hòttest ticket in pop rock music, but his single mother raised a man with a terrific sense of humor and an amazing heart whose most valued commodity is his family and friends. I’m not sure which Levi I swooned over the most – the man who is ridiculously adorable with Ingrid's kids or the Levi who could laugh at the outrageous interruptions that kept a highly anticipated liftoff bųrning on the launch pad. That, my reader friend, may just be the ultimate swoon. When you can find a man who makes you laugh and laughs with you when things around you are falling apart, that's a treasure more precious than gold.
Most books for me are a one and done. I may adore the characters while I’m reading, but many leave my mind once I’m immersed in the next book. Ingrid and Levi, however, kicked me out of bed at 4 AM, TYVM, insisting I write my review NOW, telling me what I needed to say about them. So, Levi and Ingrid, I hope I do you justice. One thing is certain, I’ll always think of you two whenever I happen upon a rubber chicken. And, P.S., Levi, should the Bro Code ever get back together, be sure to add some squirrel-dance moves to your repertoire.
Of course this book comes with the requisite warning about the danger of reading it in public and the risk of spontaneous barks of laughter accompanied by inelegant snorts. But then there really needs to be a blanket warning for anything penned by this crafty, clever lady.
So settle in for a hilarious, heartwarming, epically entertaining time with Levi, Ingrid and the kids. But first, you may want to warn your family, your friends, your neighbors and the Jehovah's Witnesses that to interrupt you is to risk bodily harm. Then, kıck back and enjoy the heck out of your escape to Cooper Valley!
