So I have been reading these cocky hero club books as they snag my attention. Meeting new to me authors or just getting more words from authors I love. And it's been a fairly good experience, I've found some new authors to stalk and read some great books.

This book had all the elements i was chasing but it just slightly missed the mark for me. I liked the storyline but I didn't really feel any romantic connection between Sam and Jackson. Possibly because it was only Sam's point of view so we didn't really know what Jackson was feeling.

I felt like there was a lot of emphasis on Jackson having been a player and her brothers issue with that. Then suddenly they were sleeping together without any actual interaction. And suddenly Jackson isn't a player any more and they are in a relationship without any discussion or acknowledgement.

There was a lot of repetition of some key story points that weren't necessary in a novel of this length. BUT I didn't hate it and the storyline, although predictable, did keep me reading. Plus we got a lot of Chase and Aubrey which was great. So although I didn't love it, I also didn't hate it. It just wasn't what I was hoping for when I read the blurb and started reading.

When I started to read this story, I couldn’t believe how easy I got lost in it! It is a great story with real and relatable characters! Karen Frances is new to me, but I see she’s got quite a few highly rated books already under her belt, and after finishing this book, I can see why.

No drama for drama, no player drama, and even the sister drama that sometimes gets out of hand in these stories wasn’t incorporated. I’m telling you guys; this was a refreshing read I would rec to any romance fiction reader! I liked it so much that I’ve already downloaded some of her books from her backlist so I can catch up!

The storyline was believable and relatable, the character interactions were easy and drama free (there has to be some sort of conflict so …), they had great chemistry that was both sexy and humorous. The way she incorporated Chance and Aubrey really took me back to their journey and pleased me to no end. I’m looking forward to reading a lot more from this author!

Sam and her best friend are in Vegas for a break when Sam notices her soccer-playing brother, Logan, and his teammates are in the same hotel, living it up for before their season starts. He has a gorgeous friend, Jackson, whom she's never met before, but who has player written all over him. Should she take a chance on yet another player off the field? She shouldn't if her brother has his say. But her body just might have something else in mind, regardless of what her brother has to say about it.

Jackson's rep is as bad as her brother's before he met her soon to be sister-in-law, so why Logan is so upset about the thought of her with Jackson is beyond him. What if Jackson has no intentions on playing Sam, though? Can he prove to Sam, and Logan, that he's given up his player ways? Or is Sam doomed to another broken heart by yet another player?

I loved these hot Scots and their love story. Scottish Player is sweet, hot, and Chance and Aubrey are woven seamlessly into Sam and Jackson's worthy addition to the Cocky Hero Club.

I've not read Cocky Bastard but have 'met' Chance and Aubrey and Pixy the goat in another Cocky Hero Club story, so it was great to get into another story that was linked to them.
Sam and Kate take a trip to unwind in Vegas and what ensues when she meets Jackson for the first time is some off the charts chemistry in a very definite love/hate relationship.. he's Cocky, she thinks he's a player and will prove his reputation by upping and leaving after getting what he wants.
The added problem is Jackson is her brother's teammate.. so this leads to some tension filled moments !
I loved finding out about some of the characters from Karen's previous books and will be sure to read those now.. gutted I hadn't before so I could tell her just how amazing I think her writing is.. I got drawn in from the start and after a bit of a dry spell reading this is just what I needed

RIP Karen Frances ❤

Connection lost. One p.o.v. not enough.

Ok.
Deep breath.
This was. This was,a bit of a take off failure for .
Now, I wanted to like Sam. I really did. I don’t blame her though. I blame the writer.
I mean it’s always the writer true. True. But do you ever or have you ever read a book and the character or characters almost felt separate from the writer and the book ? Like you could almost see this character as a real person out side of a story or plot that didn’t really seem to be created with then in mind ?
Have wished you could yank them out and give them a better life or plot ?
This is how I felt for Sam. Sam seemed fun and interesting and I liked how focused and sure she on what she wanted .
Well at first,anyway.
Now ,just so you know this is a DNF for me as I write this.
I only made it to chapter 5 and 23% of the book.
Why?
Well, while I’m soo not a fan of a p.o.v from just one person ,if your gonna do that in my humble opinion you must, must,MUST be giving the other MC’s without a p.o.v plenty of page time so we can get to know them and their motivations and personality.
Other wise how can we connect ? What to we have to connect to ?
Well Sam and Kate have arrived in Vegas and had a couple of fun days by chapter five with only a few very short run ins with Jackson . Jackson who is usually being taken away by someone after saying or doing something dumb or asinine after only a few short moments around Sam and her friend Kate. Nothing of consequences said or done on any of the occasions. N o t h I n g . And yet after he pops up acting like a still possessive jealous ex and gets in a fight/altercation w/a guy she’s just met and hopefully a new client, she chases after him to tell him off and ends up in bed with him .
Huh?
Wait ,what ?
Yeah, you heard me. I’m all for sex but, BUT only when it makes sense or means something.
But to go from barely meeting a guy, turning him down for a date, then him getting into a fight with ppl you’ve just met and have become friends with,a guy you’ve barely spoken five words to.
To jumping into bed with him, made less sense that a drunken late night pick up in a bar.
For two days ( around the length of time she’s known him) you’ve barely spoken a word to him, happily ignored him. But now you suddenly gotta have him after he’s made a colossal full of himself ?
Huh?
No,just,no.
I know I’ve barely started the book but you’ve killed it for me with this nonsense.
It just doesn’t make sense.
No Thanks.
This just isn’t for me.

Add another new author to my lists of reads, definitely a HOT book! Literally couldn't put this book down once I started to read it. These two characters have so much chemistry together and the way they tease each other had me loving them even more. So glad I had the chance to read this one.

Another good read by Karen Frances. It was good to be back with some old names and Fletcher and Logan don't disappoint. Jackson and Sam are two great characters, their story was addictive, and I loved it. It's a definite one click for anyone who likes a cocky character.

I must admit that I went to bed with the intention of reading the first couple of chapters but I simply couldn’t put this story down. Scottish Player had me hooked from the go, and I absolutely loved how the author linked this story to the original Cocky Bastard created by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward.

I loved the storyline of Scottish Player. I loved getting to know Jackson and Sam. They are fabulous individuals and I also thought they made a great couple. Not only did I enjoy spending time with them both but the secondary characters added to the story perfectly and I don’t only mean Chance and Aubrey from Cocky Bastard, but both the couple’s family and friends too.

I adore the chemistry and connection that Jackson and Sam have. There is an instant attraction but they do have some hurdles to overcome before they can act upon their feelings for each other. Add in some twists and turns in the storyline and there you have the reasons why I couldn’t put my kindle down!

Scottish Player is up there with my favourites of the Cocky Hero Club releases and is one that I highly recommend to you to read. What I have realised is that this book also has links to Karen Frances’ series A Beautiful Game. I have yet to read these books but will be rectifying that soon.

4.5 Star Review Scottish Player (Cocky Hero Club) by Karen Frances
One of the things I have loved about the Cocky Hero Club is discovering so many new authors such as Karen Frances. Scottish Player is a fast paced, steamy story which I was hooked on from the fist to the last chapter.

What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas, right? Not always. When Sam Walker finds herself confronted with her brother and his teammates she never in her wildest dreams thought she would be attracted to Jackson Taylor.

This is a steamy story that drew me in and had me hooked from the first page. Not only that but Karen Frances wove some surprising twists and turns into the story that I didn’t see coming.
Jackson will do his best to convince Sam that he is not the player that she thinks he is. The chemistry between them is intense and the banter between them witty. The secondary characters were entertaining and it was great to see Chance and Aubrey make an appearance which just added to my enjoyment.

Once again Karen Frances proves her ability to write a page turner that dovetails perfectly with others' written world, in this case Cocky Hero.

Scottish Player features a successful football player and the sister of one of his team mates.

Jackson, an obvious player on and off the field, has to work hard to prove that his off field activities are behind him but Sam proves difficult to convince.

Karen Frances hasn't just paid homage to the original Cocky novel but gives Chance and Aubrey starring roles in Scottish Player, and as the story unfolds, adds a trip to Glasgow to the mix.

The fact that she laces this Cocky Hero addition so beautifully with her 'Beautiful Game' series is just genius!

Sam and her best friend head to Vegas however they are about to find their girl’s trip will be invaded by her brother Logan and his football team who are there as well. She may be attracted to the bold and brash footballer, but she also believes that he is only looking for a flirtation.

Jackson was drawn to Sam from their first meeting and wasn’t about to be deterred by her doubts of his intentions or the fact that she is his teammate’s sister. He is determined to show her by word and deed that they belong together, but an unexpected surprise could derail everything.

The chemistry between them is intense, the banter humorous and not only are Sam and Jackson compelling characters but there is a great group of secondary characters that add to the story.

Samantha and Jackson's book was really good. There was no drama, except for Samantha's brother Logan being worried about Jackson going after his sister. He didn't think Jackson was a good enough guy, which most brother's don't.

This was just a really good romance story about two people meeting and getting to know one another. I was totally expecting some other woman drama in regards to Jackson and his "player" ways but there was nothing like that.

It was also a lot of fun to see Chance and Aubrey again.

Hot Cocky Alpha Male!

When I first started reading Sam & Jackson’s story I wanted to punch him! He is so cocky and arrogant, how could any woman like him? Well, he’s a very good looking, hot as hell football player. Jackson is also one of Sam’s brothers best friends and colleagues, as they both play for the same team. Sam and her bestie go to Vegas for a break and some of the team including Sam’s brother are there for a stag party. Sam had no idea they would be there too and when Jackson sets his sights on her the fun begins. This is my first book from this author and I wish I’d discovered her sooner. RIP Karen Frances.

There is nothing better than a blue eyed Scot, that is unless he’s in a kilt! Karen Frances has taken the brother’s best friend trope and given it a Scottish twist and I’m here for it.

Sam has always been surrounded by football players since her brother plays, but because of that she can see a player a mile away, which is why she tried to stay away from Jackson. Unfortunately once Jackson met Sam the game was over for him. Can Sam work through her insecurities and let herself fall? Can Sam’s brother step back and give them a chance at happiness?

Take an afternoon with the crazy group of Scots you will be happy you did.

I loved Sam and Jackson’s story! Karen always writes her characters in a way that you can relate to them in some way. In this case I could definitely relate to Jackson’s disgust at pineapple on pizza! I also loved that even though there was drama it was never unbelievable or over the top. I will definitely need to read A Beautiful Game series now after being introduced to Logan, Fletcher and co.

Scottish Player was a sizzling hot read! Sam and Jackson have so much chemistry together! I loved their banter and teasing even as she was unsure of how much this "player" was truly serious about her.
I enjoyed all the secondary characters; they truly added depth and made Sam and Jackson's story greater. Fantastic five plus star addition to the Cocky Hero Club world.

A brothers best friend and playboy romance.

Loved it.

Jackson is cocky, charming, he's also a player on and off the field.

When Jackson sets his sites on his friend and team mates sister Sam there's instant attraction and chemistry.

Sam is aware of Jackson's reputation and with the additional warnings from her brother she tries to stay clear of Jackson. But what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas, right?..

Jackson has to up his game and wants to prove to Sam that he wants her and only her now.

I love these kind of reads, where the playboy becomes a swoon worthy contestant as he wins over the woman he loves.

Brilliant characters and story.

I'm going to miss your words Karen, and I hope this book and all the other wonderful words you've written are loved by readers for many years to come.

Your words and your characters live on in our hearts.

I'm a little biased when it comes to this author. I have been a fan for a long time and her books always leave me feeling emotional whether its happy or sad. And while I loved reading Scottish Player and revisiting some of my favorite characters from previous books, I was a little disappointed. I didn't really feel the chemistry or connection between Sam and Jackson. I know exactly what the problem for me was. This book is written with only Sam's perspective. So, while I got to know Sam, I didn't understand Jackson. Everyone gave Jackson a hard time because he was a known player with the ladies. He was constantly told he was no good by Sam's brother. Because Jackson's POV is non-existent, I didn't know what he was thinking. I just felt a lot was missing from the story.

Overall, putting aside the fact that I couldn't experience what Jackson was thinking and feeling from his perspective, I still enjoyed the book. We all have our own preferences when reading whether it's first or third person perspectives. I enjoy both. But for me, the perfect reading experience is experiencing both protagonists POVs. I wanted to state this because this it just my opinion and my preferences and despite my disappointment, you may feel differently.

Karen Francis was a lovely person and a talented writer. I am so sad to know she has recently passed away. I will miss her and her words. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and close friends. The reading community not only lost a talented storyteller, but a beautiful soul.

This is my honest and unbiased review and I thank you for taking the time to read it. :)

I didn't know this author, but picked up this book after learning through a mutual friend of her tragic passing. By purchasing this book, I hoped to offer some support to her loved ones. Also, I'm always in for a nice sports romance.

Sam and her friend Kate take a trip to Las Vegas, where they realize the professional Scottish football (soccer for the American readers) team, of which Sam's brother is a member, is there as well, as part of a bachelor party getaway. Her brother's teammate Jackson flirts with her, but her brother warns him off. Apparently, Jackson has a bad a reputation, being a bit of a player. Sam is happy to remind her brother Logan that he and his best friend Fletcher weren't much different before they met their significant others. A lot of the story revolves around Logan's apprehension regarding Jackson.

One thing that did irk me a bit was Sam repeatedly commenting on Kate's behavior, describing her as rude and disconnected from the real world. It made me dislike Kate a bit, as I personally cannot stand such behavior, and also made me wonder why they're friends.

During the trip, Sam also meets former football star, now model, Chance and his wife Aubrey, and strikes up a friendship with them. I enjoyed these scenes quite a bit. Her friendships with Lee and Jess back home are also valuable, and they offer support where Logan and Fletcher don't.

While this book has a lot of elements I usually enjoy, it doesn't really take off. Sam and Jackson's relationship feels rushed and lacking depth or any real foundation. A lot of the dialogue also feels a bit rushed or forced to me. I did enjoy the story; it just didn't wow me. 3.5 stars.

Well, Scottish Player is steamy and hot. It's also a great addition to the Cocky Hero Club world. Karen Frances did an outstanding job by blending her characters from the A Beautiful Game series (Playing the Field) with Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward's Cocky Bastard. Beloved Chance and Aubrey have a big role in the story, yet Sam and Jackson-Scottish Player's main characters-command the spotlight.

Sam is a well-known photographer who every year takes a week-long holiday with her best friend. This time, they are headed to Las Vegas, where they plan to have fun, forget about the past, and enjoy every aspect of Sin City. After all, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. Well, the last she is expecting is to bump into his big brother Logan and some of his soccer teammates, including hot and sexy striker Jackson.

He is arrogant and full of himself. Yet, their attraction is instant. But Logan warns her about Jackson's charm and being a player. And while she appreciates her brother looking for her, Sam is not one to back down. She is sassy, strong, independent, and knows what she wants. But a steamy night in Vegas is not enough. Once they are back in Scotland, Jackson will pursue her and will try to convince her, he is not the player everyone thinks he is.

Scottish Player had hooked me from the first pages. What happened in Vegas, stayed in Vegas, right?
I appreciated reading about Sam and Jackson, unexpected, full of charms and sexy!
When these two hothead characters expected to have a fun weekend are reunited, well sparks more than fly and their back and forth are more than explosive. One was showing his interest more than the other, who was more in denial for sure.
The thing is, Jackson is part of the football team and also Sam’s big brother teammate. And her brother makes it clear that Jackson is a player and not to mingle with. Off-limits.
As the story unfolded, these two brought the heat to another level and all you had to do was to wait for the bomb to explode.
The turning events kept me interested and revealed the main characters in a new light, less lighthearted and more emotional, without being too heavy on the feels.
Their story started at a fast pace but it was interesting how they would act outside their bubble they created in Vegas, in their everyday life.
Sam and Jackson were likable characters, full of passion and fun. I adored their chemistry and banter. Their connection was amazing.
Great storyline, hot Scot determined to win the girl and to earn her love, a sassy and strong heroine who had a tough shell but gave a chance.
A story with sparking wit, smoking hot and swoony!

Words cannot express my excitement for this installment to the Cockyverse! It was such a perfectly blended story that involves Chance and Aubrey from Cocky Bastard with the author’s footballer series, A Beautiful Game, which I freaking LIVED for! We get all the past characters that Frances gave us in that series including Fletcher and Logan which wraps us into this book which is about Logan’s sister Sam and his teammate Jackson. Aka.. this is me telling you that you NEED to go back and read the books because you NEED Fletcher in your life! But the best thing is that you do not have needed to read A Beautiful Game series prior, but you know… DOOO IT!
ANYWAY, back to this bad boy. Well, I was blown away at the off the charts chemistry that is sizzling between Jackson and Samantha! Their banter and quick wit had me giggling and grinning then fanning myself with their passion. It was raw and intense. Then you have all the little ups and downs through this story that will keep you on your toes and before you know it, you are at the end and want SO much more!
Overall, I am so in love with this book. I loved the concept, how it all seamlessly blended together, to how much I fell in love with the characters. Frances gave so much depth to these characters and the ones from Cocky Bastard. It was brilliant and hands down my favorite in these books!

Scottish Player was a quick read by new to me author Karen Frances and is a part of the Covky Hero club.

Sam and her friend Kate are in Vegas for a bit of a girls getaway when they happen upon the boys from their local football league. What are the chances that Sam's brother and team are in the same hotel as them without coordinating their vacations from Scotland? About as high as Sam falling for one of the players in the space of a weekend.

Jackson is a player through and through and as a professional Scottish footballer, has no problem snagging girls or "lassies" as he likes to call them. Being been best mates with Logan for years, he has no idea why he's never met the sister, Samantha but he's meeting her now and loving everything he sees. Despite being warned off by her brother, Jackson can't help pursuing her. It was supposed to be one-night but his fascination with her follows them back to Scotland. One night will never be enough.

This was a cute, quick read. The drama between Logan and Jackson wraps up fairly quickly and the girls are great support to Sam, who, if I'm being honest, I didn't particularly warm to as much as usual with the CHC characters. I especially didn't care for the self-centered Kate. Loved Jackson but honestly the best parts for me were seeing Chance and Aubrey, I love those guys!

“A player on and off the pitch.
And I don’t play games, especially not ones that might break my heart.”

A new to me author, I jumped straight into this as it’s part of The Cocky Hero series and I was not disappointed. Sam is a photographer who has just arrived in Las Vegas with her best friend for a week of girls only fun and the first thing she sees is a vaguely familiar sexy ass and a pet goat! Squeal with me if you know what this means...and thus begins another adventure in the world of this always entertain series.

This story has insta lust, angst and a whole lots of will they won’t they. It also serves as an introduction into the world of Karen Francis as it has characters from her series which I have added to my TBR immediately. The characters are from Scotland and it brought a smile to my face to read some of the references and colloquialisms as I too am Scottish. The writing flows and before I knew it I was done. I giggled and I swooned, damn those scenes are steamy! The characters are really engaging and easy to fall in love with. I can’t wait to read more about the other characters. I loved the involvement of some familiar faces and the story had the perfect balance of drama and steam to make this a wonderful addition to this series.

A five star who’s the player read?

I love my visits to the Cocky Hero World and Scottish Player is the perfect addition to this wonderful club. I have only recently come across Karen Frances but with every book I pick up by this author I’m left wondering what she hasn’t crossed my radar before now.
What happens in Vegas, stay’s in Vegas, well thats what should happen only not in this case.....
Sam Walker is in Vegas taking a break with her best friend and last person she expects to come face to face with is her brother and all his teammates, in Vegas for a stag party. Even more surprising is the attraction she instantly feels for Jackson Taylor, one of her brother’s teammates. Sam has always avoided players she knows the mentality they all seem to share, she knows most are players on and off the field, so why should Jackson be any different.....
Can Jackson convince Sam to give him one night and will one night be enough.......
The chemistry is sizzling and the banter is witty and once you add in the cameo appearance from Chance and Aubrey you get a perfect read. Loved everything about this book and I’m looking forward to reading more fro the very talented Ms Frances as soon as time permits.
