I fell for Cameron Connolly at the wrong time.

And when he left, I thought my life was over.

But then, after the worst happened, I truly understood what that phrase meant.

Now, he’s not ready for a second chance, and I’m not offering one.

Though given that our families have been forced together after losing one of our own, I know there’s no turning back.

Not this time. Not again. Not when it comes to Cameron.

***I listened to the Audiobook. Joe Arden - well his voice alone will give a woman sweet dreams. I can not get enough of his voice. I have listened to so many books, just because he was the reader, I can't count.

    ***Sucide Trigger Warning***

Carrie does it again. The Connelly brothers are HOT! Having adoptive parents that were named Jack and Rose (yes like the Titanic) made for a wonderful story and touches that could stay in the bar after they passed.

Cameron comes home to a broken Violet after their friend Allison took her own life. Cameron was in California raising his long lost brother after his bio mom over dosed. Her drug addiction is how he and his twin Adian ended up in foster care. Dylan, the much younger brother, is who Cameron ends up raising on his own, until Jack dies and leaves the bar to the 3 boys. The twins other brother Branden is a numbers guy working fulltime in another business. Adian was a Michelline Star Chef before the bar brought him home. Cameron and Dylan move back after leaving California where Cameron has set up his own bar, which he sold before returning to Texas.

The 3 brothers have a ton of baggage from their past to work through on top of trying to save Jack's bar. Then poor Dylan is just trying to figure out where he fits.

Violet, Sierra, Harmony and Allison were the 4 pack. Violet dated Cameron and Allison dated Adian through high school and college. Allison's funeral brings the girls and guys back together after years apart. Harmony had just burried her husband years earlier.

All the characters are processing things at different stages of grief. They are trying to work through their pasts and pave a road for their futures, mending their relationships along the way. Just when you think you know what is going to happen, Carrie throws one of her curve balls, to keep you turning the pages (or listening) to just one more chapter.

This book is the first in a series and I can't wait to listen to the rest!!!

I am a huge fan of romance books. This kept me at the edge of my seat. I love the hot and steamy scenes. The was a difficult subject to address and the author did an amazing job. Hope this book helps anyone going through similar situations.

This book had me feeling so many emotions! Violet and Cameron’s story isn’t a true second chance romance in my mind, they were interrupted in their relationship. Life got in the way, and they were separated. Their lives took different paths, but it led them back together. While they deal with their multitude of feelings from what is happening that brought them back together, they find each other. There is pain and betrayal in what they feel for each other, but they decide to go with what they have. Their feelings are still there, and they feel good. They both need to feel good, so they take that chance.

Cameron was such a great character, and I felt for him. He did the right thing, he really did, with everything but Violet back then. And he is doing all he can to do the right things now with her. He has such a strength to him, but still has a deep vulnerability. I wanted to hug him, and kick his brothers, not Dillon though. By the end of the book, less kicking was needed, and everyone seems to have needed hugs

Violet’s feelings were so raw, so real, and they enveloped you through the whole book. Have your tissues ready. This story, the whole series, deals with some deep emotions, true and stark, and it starts at the beginning. Violet lets us into her world, and we get to see her thoughts and feelings. Far from fragile, she needs the love and support from her family, and her friends, and Cameron. Cameron is a part of her, and he comes along when she needs all her parts to hold it together

This book, and this series, will touch a deep part of you. Not because finding and falling and love should always make you feel. But because life isn’t always easy, and finding and falling in love can happen even when things are hard, and you are hurt. Be prepared, and then be in wonder, as love happens, in any circumstance

Oh my gosh this story completely had me emotional from the first paragraph. Violet and Cameron’s story is emotional on more than just as a couple. I truly enjoyed reading their story and how they were in past as as they became a couple again. The subject that is within this book isn’t a easy subject but the details are not described but more the what happens to everyone after as they adjust and man doesn’t Violet have a lot to work out as well as Cameron but the end is truly a HEA. Carrie Ann has written such a emotional read I had tears at points and laughter at others and all in between. Absolutely enjoyed this one even though it is a difficult read at points.

Cameron and Violet have a history, one that they can't just ignore. When a tragic event end up bringing them into each other's lives again, they have to figure out what they really want and if they can heal what's been fractured. Cameron felt he had no choice in the past and did what he had to do, Violet was left to wonder what it was that happened and why. The journey that they take you on if full of hurt and grief, but also love and rediscovery of who they themselves are and who they want to be for each other. Breaking Without You is a full ride of emotions and beautifully written. I loved Violet and Cameron.

The initial pages started with a funeral and recounting of love and life lost. But unlike other stories that slowly veers away from such lonely and dark beginnings of a story, it seemed to follow along with the narrative of Violet so much so that I equated Violet with sadness. Everything was about exploring emotions and relationships that it seems to burden the reader with trying to understand which is which, and what is what. At 50% (as my kindle app indicated) I stopped reading. For me, it was no longer enjoyable but more like a sad and burdensome narrative of emotional refrain that became boring.

5.0 out of 5 stars An emotional second chance romance!

The beginning of book is absolutely heartbreaking! There is so much emotion spilling out all over everywhere, I just couldn't contain myself. I think I cried through the first third of the book. There was so much hurt, so much anger, and so many unresolved feelings, I could literally feel it myself. This had to be the most emotional book that I've read this year. I really feel like it broke me apart, before putting me back together.

Violet just lost one of her best friends, with no explanations. On top of the emotions she is dealing with from that, the ex that broke her heart is back in town. She built her life back after he left her behind, but she doesn't know if she will ever be able to forgive his desertion. Cameron's life has been one disaster after another. His unstable mother lost him and his twin to the foster care system, and then they were separated. After eventually being reunited and adopted, his mother once again turns his life upside down, causing him to loose his family and the girl who holds his heart. When he returns home to Denver, intending to save his family's business, they are thrown together, and old feelings rise to the surface.

This book was so emotional, I don't think I will ever forget the way it made me feel. It's an amazing story, that brings out a true response from the reader. I can honestly say, my heart will never be the same after reading this book. If you love a book that hits you in the feelings (like I do!) this is one that you will definitely enjoy. But have the tissues handy, because you will definitely need them!

What a great start to a new series by Carrie! This one is a bit of an emotional roller coaster and focuses on the Connelly brothers and an event which fractures their brotherly bond and also focuses on Sienna, Harmony and Violet when a tragedy close to home brings uncertainty and discord to their lives. The couple that is given the most attention is Cameron and Violet and focuses on their second chance at love and trust issues because of how Cameron left years ago....with no closure!

This story is really intriguing how it looks at those questions which go unanswered in times of tragedy and consequences of actions that you think will have no repercussions but they do especially when those bonds or connections are so badly fractured💕 I look forward to the other characters in this story and unraveling more of the mysteries surrounding them all😍

I have to say this is not one of my favorites from this author. I know the subject of suicide is not an easy topic. But having it in written words is just as hard when you don't want to go into too much details. The story was good, but there was too much repeating of lines and paragraphs and found myself skipping pieces do to that.
Overview: violet was dealing with the unknown. She finds out her best friend committed suicide and there was no known reason leading to it. So she is picking up the pieces and trying to find a way to go on. The best part was her old love from high school and college Cameron came home after being gone for a several years. The two reconnect and learn to over come the past and her current situation.

Breaking Without You will put you though all the emotions that make a good story. I enjoyed the characters and storyline, I just felt somethings were skipped over or weren't necessary for this storyline. So I personally felt that keys points were missing or some material was put in as filler and had no reason behind adding it to a chapter. Happy Reading!!

This is a slow burn story told from the point of view of Violet and Cameron. Violet grieves with her close friends over the suicide of Allison a valued member of their circle. They don't understand why she ended her life as there were no obvious external signs of illness or distress. They want to retain their good memories of her.

Cameron with his three brothers are striving to keep a bar open that they have inherited after being adopted by a bar owning generous couple.

We experience the slow rekindling of the second chance romance of Violet and Cameron. They love each other. But have to learn to trust each other again and have fun.
