New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Julia Kent writes romantic comedy with an edge. Since 2013, she has sold more than 2 million books, with 4 New York Times bestsellers and more than 21 appearances on the USA Today bestseller list. Her books have been translated into French and German, with more titles releasing in the future.
From billionaires to BBWs to new adult rock stars, Julia finds a sensual, goofy joy in every contemporary romance she writes. Unlike Shannon from Shopping for a Billionaire, she did not meet her husband after dropping her phone in a men's room toilet (and he isn't a billionaire she met in a romantic comedy).
She lives in New England with her husband and three children where she is the only person in the household with the gene required to change empty toilet paper rolls.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 13, 2019I'm not sure why it surprised me that Julia Kent could intrigue me with a completely new series. After all, she as done it over and over again. It's the quirky characters that suck me in every time. This series was no exception. Set in a relatively small town, these stories, with outrageous elements, are relatable. Years ago, I could have been friends with Perky, Mal & Feisty.
This second book in the series tells Perky (Persephone) and Parker's story. She abruptly broke things off 5 years prior because of the worst type of betrayal. He just wants a chance to defend himself. He gets the opportunity when invited to participate in the pre-wedding festivities of Perky's best friend Mal. Sparks fly and hilarity ensues. Though it's pretty obvious who the bad guy(s) is early on, the story is entertaining to the end.
This new world Ms. Kent has created is definitely worth experiencing. It's at times, laugh-out-loud funny, and at others, angst-ridden. Now, as always, I'm anxiously awaiting the next book in a Julia Kent series.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 30, 2019What happens when the man you love betrays you in the worst of ways? Perky (or Persephone as she was when we first met her in Fluffy) is quirky...but in the best of ways. She is Mallory's best friend (along with Fiona) but she has her issues. Mainly being the butt of a joke that wasn't a joke. Despite everything she has done in the last 5 years to erase the pain, it is constantly with her and the meme that started it all still floats around in some people's minds. Never does she expect to run into the man who caused all that pain. But one thing is clear, she has nothing but revenge on her mind. The banter between Perky and Parker is always fun and the chemistry between them is so very clear, but how can you forgive? How can you forget? While always fun to read the banter, the wild, off the wall facts (yes google was my friend quite a bit in this story lol), there was a whole lot of depth in this story. Can you ever love again when you know you found the one you were truly meant for? The right for privacy in such a large social media world? Does that even exist in this day and age? Perky must learn to forgive and she must learn to use her power for good. Will she? But I will forever remember the video of the spider and that will have me gasping with laughter...and cringing because....well you will just have to read it to know what I'm talking about. And for the record, Will reinforces why he will forever be my Julia Kent book boyfriend :)
- Reviewed in the United States on January 23, 2020This is a cute, and sometimes funny, romance. I was looking forward to reading it, after reading the 1st one in the series. It gets 3.5 stars from me, rounded down to 3 stars.
I enjoyed it, but not as much as usual for one of Julia's books. Her books are usually hysterical, and often make me burst out laughing (my husband looks at me like I'm nuts when I do that!), but this one got a little silly at times. So much was going on in Perky's head, and sometimes it was just a bit too silly for me.
I understood why Perky thought Parker was to blame for what happened, but she should have at least been willing to listen when he tried to explain that he wasn't. It was weird that she hated him, but still loved him and wanted to have sex with him. I had a big problem with how easily Parker forgave the culprit, though -- what she did was awful, and almost ruined two people's lives.
One thing I was surprised about: In the 1st book, Mallory is likable. But in this one, she has become a terrible bridezilla. As far as I am concerned, there is no excuse for that, and it made me not like her very much anymore.
My rating system is below.
1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it.
2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws.
3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating.
4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one.
5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 18, 2021I love this series. The characters are so funny and the situations they get in. Always a HEA (Happy Ever After), with no long drawn out angst. One big complaint about these books and some other authors included. I know you love your thesaurus, that they want you to use different words. But please for my sake could you stop with some of them? I honestly know no one who talks that way no matter how smart they are. I felt like I was kicking in my dictionary every couple pages. It was frustrating. Also if your going to use letters in place of words, I know this one LOL, other than that I have no idea WHAT your talking about which takes me out of the story and I don't want to go to urban dictionary to figure it out. Or the first time you use letters do the above ⬆️. Some of us still want to remember how to spell words even when texting.

5.0 out of 5 stars Laugh out loud again!
Julia Kent has been one of my favorite authors since I picked up her first of the shopping for..... billionaire series books!
If you want a book to get you past all of life's crazy times, just grab one of hers!
The biggest problem with these reads is you don't want to put them down so you finish them too soon! But not to worry, the second, third and fourth time you read them you enjoy them just as much!

4.0 out of 5 stars Yay!
Perky and Parker are adorable. Like they can't help their attraction and love though Perky is trying really hard not to cave in (or maybe not that much lol). I loved them together and the fact that their story starts exactly as the first book ends, it's like having just one biiig book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Stinger for me
Wow. Julia Kent has done it again. I know all my Julia Kent reviews start this way but I have no other choice. She is by far one of the best authors I read.
The sass and snark that comes off the page has me hooked. I love the character interactions, story arc and pure emotion that flows from the page. Every story had little comments that link back to other series characters, that gives me so much joy to know all these people live in the same universe.
Perky and Parker are the epitome of lost love. An incident 5 years ago sends Perky running and hiding. When Parker turns up to Mallory and Wills wedding rehearsal rehearsal (see Fluffy for that rollercoaster) Perky still cannot forgive. Parker though has had enough of being ignored and as the newly elected, youngest congressman, he can put all his charm to good effect.
I could not put this book down and you are a fool if you do not read it.
That being said, if you read it you will love it. Give snark and love a chance.
I can't wait for Feisty next 😊

5.0 out of 5 stars Love Do Over
A very good storyline with engaging characters who were well written and developed. I look forward to reading more by this author.

4.0 out of 5 stars Funny and entertaining
There were many things I loved about this book. The characters were strong, varied and interesting. Even the secondary characters had great personalities. I loved the trio of friends - quirky, caring and supportive of each other whilst being honest at the same time. The storyline was different as it tackled online posting of nude pictures without the owners consent. Parker's character was the best!
Persephone and Parker were in a relationship which broke down when a nude picture of her was released on the Internet. She believed that he had done this despite his numerous denials over the years. For 5 years Persephone had to deal with the staring and lewd comments made to her despite all attempts to remove the picture from the Internet. She was shocked when she met Parker at her friends wedding rehearsal and decided to get her revenge by recording him during sex and releasing it online which would damage his political career.
I loved the interaction between Persephone and her friends - hilarious. I also liked how the relationship between Parker and Persephone gradually changed from fury on her part back to love without ever denying the fierce attraction between them.
I took away a star because I felt that Persephone's dialogue with her friends and Parker was a bit immature at times- this made the book feel longer to me than it actually was. A little bit repetitive too.
However, I did enjoy the story, would like to read more in this series so I recommend this book for a fun read.
