Breaking Without You (Fractured Connections Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.1 4.1 out of 5 stars 1,111 ratings

I fell for Cameron Connolly at the wrong time.

And when he left, I thought my life was over.

But then, after the worst happened, I truly understood what that phrase meant.

Now, he’s not ready for a second chance, and I’m not offering one.

Though given that our families have been forced together after losing one of our own, I know there’s no turning back.

Not this time. Not again. Not when it comes to Cameron.

Great Start to this Series
This book was... I don't have the words to describe how I feel other than; it was a beautifully written story with different emotions on every page. Breaking Without You is the first book in new series by Carrie Ann Ryan, where second chances don’t come often, and overcoming an unexpected loss means breaking everything you knew. We get a new set of brothers (The Connolly) in this series and these boys are they going to be a hand full.Love can find you even at the most heartbreaking time of your life. Violet just lost her best friend and Cameron come back to help with the family business, but something just keeps pulling them back to one another. Can explaining the years apart be enough for Violet to forgive Cameron and give him a second chance?Like all of Carrie Ann’s book, you are going to fall in love with these characters and wait impatiently for the next book.

The beginning of book is absolutely heartbreaking! There is so much emotion spilling out all over everywhere, I just couldn't contain myself. I think I cried through the first third of the book. There was so much hurt, so much anger, and so many unresolved feelings, I could literally feel it myself. This had to be the most emotional book that I've read this year. I really feel like it broke me apart, before putting me back together.

Violet just lost one of her best friends, with no explanations. On top of the emotions she is dealing with from that, the ex that broke her heart is back in town. She built her life back after he left her behind, but she doesn't know if she will ever be able to forgive his desertion. Cameron's life has been one disaster after another. His unstable mother lost him and his twin to the foster care system, and then they were separated. After eventually being reunited and adopted, his mother once again turns his life upside down, causing him to loose his family and the girl who holds his heart. When he returns home to Denver, intending to save his family's business, they are thrown together, and old feelings rise to the surface.

This book was so emotional, I don't think I will ever forget the way it made me feel. It's an amazing story, that brings out a true response from the reader. I can honestly say, my heart will never be the same after reading this book. If you love a book that hits you in the feelings (like I do!) this is one that you will definitely enjoy. But have the tissues handy, because you will definitely need them!

I have to say this is not one of my favorites from this author. I know the subject of suicide is not an easy topic. But having it in written words is just as hard when you don't want to go into too much details. The story was good, but there was too much repeating of lines and paragraphs and found myself skipping pieces do to that.
Overview: violet was dealing with the unknown. She finds out her best friend committed suicide and there was no known reason leading to it. So she is picking up the pieces and trying to find a way to go on. The best part was her old love from high school and college Cameron came home after being gone for a several years. The two reconnect and learn to over come the past and her current situation.

Breaking Without You will put you though all the emotions that make a good story. I enjoyed the characters and storyline, I just felt somethings were skipped over or weren't necessary for this storyline. So I personally felt that keys points were missing or some material was put in as filler and had no reason behind adding it to a chapter. Happy Reading!!

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader’s Copy of this book

I love starting a new series, especially one by a favorite author. Why you ask, because it’s like coming into a new group of friends, but of people that you already know but now you get to really know them and come to love them.
In Breaking Without You we have Violet Knight and we meet Cameron Connolly. Violet we have briefly met before as she is Mace’s sister from Fallen Ink: Montgomery Ink Colorado Springs Book 1.
This story is a heartbreaker for sure, what Violet and her tribe are going through is one of the toughest things a group of friends can go through. Suicide is something that is very prevalent in the world today and when it happens it is awful and when it is someone that is close to you it’s even more devastating.
That is what brings Violet and Cameron into each other’s life’s........ again.
See not only is this a love story, it’s a second chance love story and those are always good.
The chemistry between them is off the charts, but that was never the problem for them when they were together in college. No the problem was when Cameron just left without a word or reason.
I love that Ryan always gives us true life in her stories. From how Violet and her friends are coping with their grief, to Cameron and his brothers trying to come together again after years apart, to the why of Cameron leaving. All of it is vey real life things that could happen to and does happen to every day people.
Also, what I love about her writing is that if you haven’t read the series that a new series has spun off of it doesn’t matter, you won’t be lost because you can read them as stand alones. A warning though, you won’t want too if you are anything think me you gotta know everything and everyone so like Pokèmon you gotta get them all. Lol
I can’t wait to see more of this series, it’s gonna be a good one.

This is the first in a new series. We get to meet Violet & Cameron. They haven't seen each other in years. That has something to do with that Cameron did.....but it isn't what you think. It did leave Violet with a broken heart and many questions. She did her best to move on and continue making a life without him. Cameron hated what he did. He was young and made some mistakes with her as well as his family. He was put in one of those situations where he had to grown up a little faster then he expected too.
The passing of a friend is what has these two crossing paths again. It is raw and emotional. Carrie Ann Ryan doesn't leave any stone uncovered with this one. Did some crying as this was a hard subject to write about and yet she was thoughtful and compassionate too. You get to feel and know what each character is experiencing with this story.
Violet isn't sure how to deal with all of her emotions of her friend's passing as well as seeing Cameron again. And as mad as she is with him, she realizes she still feels for him. As he does her. He wonders if Violet will be able to forgive him. You'll have to read this to find out what happens!! Don't want to give too much away.
Carrie Ann Ryan does a wonderful job with this subject. She just totally had me riveted to my seat as I devoured each page to see what was going to happen next. Such a wonderful way to start this series. Can't wait for the next one!!!

What a great start to a new series by Carrie! This one is a bit of an emotional roller coaster and focuses on the Connelly brothers and an event which fractures their brotherly bond and also focuses on Sienna, Harmony and Violet when a tragedy close to home brings uncertainty and discord to their lives. The couple that is given the most attention is Cameron and Violet and focuses on their second chance at love and trust issues because of how Cameron left years ago....with no closure!

This story is really intriguing how it looks at those questions which go unanswered in times of tragedy and consequences of actions that you think will have no repercussions but they do especially when those bonds or connections are so badly fractured💕 I look forward to the other characters in this story and unraveling more of the mysteries surrounding them all😍

This is a slow burn story told from the point of view of Violet and Cameron. Violet grieves with her close friends over the suicide of Allison a valued member of their circle. They don't understand why she ended her life as there were no obvious external signs of illness or distress. They want to retain their good memories of her.

Cameron with his three brothers are striving to keep a bar open that they have inherited after being adopted by a bar owning generous couple.

We experience the slow rekindling of the second chance romance of Violet and Cameron. They love each other. But have to learn to trust each other again and have fun.

1.0 out of 5 stars A sad emotional refrain
Reviewed in Canada on June 20, 2019
The initial pages started with a funeral and recounting of love and life lost. But unlike other stories that slowly veers away from such lonely and dark beginnings of a story, it seemed to follow along with the narrative of Violet so much so that I equated Violet with sadness. Everything was about exploring emotions and relationships that it seems to burden the reader with trying to understand which is which, and what is what. At 50% (as my kindle app indicated) I stopped reading. For me, it was no longer enjoyable but more like a sad and burdensome narrative of emotional refrain that became boring.
