Olive

Baking is my thing. Bachelorette parties are not. Surprise strippers even less so. But I'm almost positive this guy isn't really a stripper, and if he is, he's pretty bad at it.

On the other hand, he's very, very good at kissing. And maybe I shouldn't have goaded him into doing it, but it's not like I'll ever see him again. At least I'll have something to fantasize about when I'm baking muffins tomorrow morning.

Brooks

Contractor. Loner. Stripper? Not usually, but I'll do anything to get the Bachelorette party in the room next door to settle down. All I wanted was a good night's sleep. I never expected my entire world to shift when she opened the hotel door with her wide green eyes and sweet vanilla scent. Now that I've had a taste, I can't let her go. I just have to find a way to break down her walls.

What a sexy little number this is. It's sweet and dirty, low angst, personal and an easy read. Brooks is a super alpha and Olive is really cute and hard headed and I love it! The way the open up for each other is really nice. The descriptions really felt like you were there. And you also felt like you were really getting to know all the characters.

The book begins with Brooks is mistaken for a stripper at a bachelorette party that Olive is attending. Brooks ends up stripping very quickly (despite being just another hotel guest), since he figures he’ll never see them again & he just wants to get some sleep.

The next morning he goes to work & ends up seeing Olive again, who was one woman he couldn’t get out of his mind from the night before.

It turns out that he’s the contractor she needed to work on her business, they just hadn’t officially met yet... & now, they can’t go a day without seeing one another.

Loved the beginning of the story, quite original. After this, it was predictable, but still fun to read.

This was an old-fashioned, feel good, angst free romance with a significant amount of heat! It’s the kind of read you take to the beach to wile away the day, soothing and enjoyable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Meet Cute Ever!

If you are like me and live for the meet cute then go check out Stripped Down. Best and sexiest meet cute ever. I was blushing and laughing hysterically.

I really enjoyed this book. It was sweet, super steamy and I want a Brooks for me (shh don’t tell my hubby). But come on, a dirty talking sexy contractor?!?! Yeah, I ❤️ Brooks so hard.

Olive is one of those characters you relate to and love. Incredibly strong and independent but open to having someone be there to take care of her too because she deserves it. The journey that Brooks & Olive have to go on for their HEA had me captivated and engrossed the entire time. I could not put this book down.

The secondary characters are out of this world amazing and I am dying for more and can’t wait for Lilah’s story. Mae is a definite TBR author for me now. I can’t believe this is her debut book.

Likes: Great writing style. A mix of showing and telling. Well written first person pov. Mae doesn't slip up and have characters magical know things about each other or read each other's minds.

The characters were real, with quirks and idiocryses.

Dislikes: Too much food talk. I was hungry the whole time. I even ordered cake via ubre eats while I was reading. My next increase in body weight is on you Mae.

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent read

This is my first book from author Mae Hardin. Right off the bat, I have to let you know that I don't normally like reading in the first person narrative. My opinion has not changed. With the bad out of the way, let's talk about what is good with the story. The story itself is a quick and easy read that catches you (even if it is in the first person) right off the bat at a bachelorette party. Who doesn't like a good bachelorette party? Though, the details were there, I was still wondering what the sexy little drinks tasted like.

At the beginning of the book, I wasn't really a fan of either the H or the h. The H was standoffish and not very likable. Gradually, he did become more redeemable in my eyes but only just. As a construction worker, Brooks was pretty stereotypical. I've worked with my fair share of construction workers (being one myself for many years). He was gruff and so much like some of the guys I worked with once upon a time.

The h is well developed but seemed, again, very standoffish at the beginning of the book. There was some very good chemistry between the two characters right off the bat but, I just didn't like her. I know many of you may and that is redeemable.

Overall, the story was good. Plot was decent. Characters were good but could've been more likable. I give this book a 4-star rating.

A new author to me and I will definitely be reading more of her work including more from this series. Read in one sitting, the story of how these two come together was sweet and authentic. It was also funny, warm and sexy with a great supporting cast. Loved that there was no manufactured drama at the end, just a love story of two people who were perfect for each other coming together. I wish more books were like this.
