Breaking Without You (Fractured Connections Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.1 4.1 out of 5 stars 1,028 ratings

I fell for Cameron Connolly at the wrong time.

And when he left, I thought my life was over.

But then, after the worst happened, I truly understood what that phrase meant.

Now, he’s not ready for a second chance, and I’m not offering one.

Though given that our families have been forced together after losing one of our own, I know there’s no turning back.

Not this time. Not again. Not when it comes to Cameron.

Violet found her best friends body when she went to her house but there wasn't a note to say why she took her own life. At the funnel the Connolly brother came to show their respect for Alison. Violet just wants to know why! What did she miss with her friend, Cameron walked away from Violet & now he's back. He broke Violets heart, so they both have to learn to trust again.
This book is beautiful written by Carrie Ann, about heart break, lost, love & family!

Over the last year I have become quiet a fan of Carrie Ann Ryan's work. This one is slightly different then her usual romances. She brought out the big guns with all the feels with this one. She weaved the tale brilliantly with the raw emotional seeping off the pages and into your veins. You feel everything reading this.

This is a beautiful tale of second chances, friendships, heartbreak, love, grief, guilt, acceptance and healing.

Violet is reeling from the unexpected death of her best friend Alison. The pain, guilt and grief Violet goes through is flawlessly written. Violet along with her sister and other friend Harmony are all struggling to understand the whys? why she did it and why they didn't see any signs.

On the day of the funeral she comes face to face with her ex Cameron Connolly, the boy that broke her heart when he left without a word. Violet is struggling to deal with her grief over Alison but now she has her pain and anger at Cameron to deal with too.

Cameron not only has to face his ex who he never stopped loving but he also has to face his brothers as he left them without a word too. They have all been brought back together to try to save their parents bar after they died. I am seriously intrigued about these boys and they backgrounds. I loved watching their interactions and would love to know more about they pasts.

This was a great start to this new series from Carrie Ann Ryan and it was lovely to see a couple of old favourites from another series make an appearance too.

I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series Harmony and Brendon's story as I am seriously intrigued about these two.

I loved watching all these relationships rekindle and heal. They have all been through so much

This is a slow burn story told from the point of view of Violet and Cameron. Violet grieves with her close friends over the suicide of Allison a valued member of their circle. They don't understand why she ended her life as there were no obvious external signs of illness or distress. They want to retain their good memories of her.

Cameron with his three brothers are striving to keep a bar open that they have inherited after being adopted by a bar owning generous couple.

We experience the slow rekindling of the second chance romance of Violet and Cameron. They love each other. But have to learn to trust each other again and have fun.

This book was not an easy one to read, as I am positive it was not an easy one for Carrie to write, but I loved it.
Life is never easy and this book shows that. Violet has lost one of her best friends and is struggling with the loss. When her ex resurfaces bringing with him all the pain and heartbreak she felt when he left l, life and coaping with it becomes so much harder.

This is such a heartfelt read dealing with issues that most people try to avoid talking about.
The book starts with a lost friend with no explanation as to why she took her own life.
I loved the friendship between Violet, Sienna and Harmony but can they help each other through this hard time.
Cameron has returned home to help save his family bar but his relationship with his brothers is so tense after he left years before.
Will he be able to reconnect with his lost love Violet after he left her heartbroken with no explanation.
I loved their chemistry and connection but with so much up in the air is it just too hard.
    Tough subjects tackled brilliantly.
This is a must read and I can't wait to read the stories of the friends and family of Violet and Cameron.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

A bit stilted at the start at times but the story eventually begins to flow well.
Emotionally charged from the beginning the characters heartache becomes yours as you read along and become invested in the story.
Keeping in mind the author's own heartbreak that seeps through the story and releases off the pages.
The Montgomery connection brings us to more family and keeps us all entwined.
    A fabulous read

A beautifully tender book which studies loss, grief and love in a way that is also so very healing. Carrie does not flinch from exploring the immense nature and changing face of grief, nor does she wallow in it. It is a bravely, honestly written book that pulls the strings of your heart, but also holds your hand and reassures you that light can come back into our lives.
The book explores love and friendship on so many different levels, through family, friends, relationships with each other, and the lost relationship. The latter is so important to this story as the friends, particularly Violet, struggle with the realisation that some questions will never be answered.
The book also, successfully, tells a very tender, lovely love story, that of Violet and Cameron, and, I have to say, I want to know more about Beckham!!
Overall, a beautiful, heartfelt read. Xx

5.0 out of 5 stars An emotional second chance romance!
Reviewed in the United States on 16 April 2019
The beginning of book is absolutely heartbreaking! There is so much emotion spilling out all over everywhere, I just couldn't contain myself. I think I cried through the first third of the book. There was so much hurt, so much anger, and so many unresolved feelings, I could literally feel it myself. This had to be the most emotional book that I've read this year. I really feel like it broke me apart, before putting me back together.

Violet just lost one of her best friends, with no explanations. On top of the emotions she is dealing with from that, the ex that broke her heart is back in town. She built her life back after he left her behind, but she doesn't know if she will ever be able to forgive his desertion. Cameron's life has been one disaster after another. His unstable mother lost him and his twin to the foster care system, and then they were separated. After eventually being reunited and adopted, his mother once again turns his life upside down, causing him to loose his family and the girl who holds his heart. When he returns home to Denver, intending to save his family's business, they are thrown together, and old feelings rise to the surface.

This book was so emotional, I don't think I will ever forget the way it made me feel. It's an amazing story, that brings out a true response from the reader. I can honestly say, my heart will never be the same after reading this book. If you love a book that hits you in the feelings (like I do!) this is one that you will definitely enjoy. But have the tissues handy, because you will definitely need them!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fracturing at the seams💔
Reviewed in Australia on 19 April 2019
What a great start to a new series by Carrie! This one is a bit of an emotional roller coaster and focuses on the Connelly brothers and an event which fractures their brotherly bond and also focuses on Sienna, Harmony and Violet when a tragedy close to home brings uncertainty and discord to their lives. The couple that is given the most attention is Cameron and Violet and focuses on their second chance at love and trust issues because of how Cameron left years ago....with no closure!

This story is really intriguing how it looks at those questions which go unanswered in times of tragedy and consequences of actions that you think will have no repercussions but they do especially when those bonds or connections are so badly fractured💕 I look forward to the other characters in this story and unraveling more of the mysteries surrounding them all😍

4.0 out of 5 stars This an ok read

I have to say this is not one of my favorites from this author. I know the subject of suicide is not an easy topic. But having it in written words is just as hard when you don't want to go into too much details. The story was good, but there was too much repeating of lines and paragraphs and found myself skipping pieces do to that.
Overview: violet was dealing with the unknown. She finds out her best friend committed suicide and there was no known reason leading to it. So she is picking up the pieces and trying to find a way to go on. The best part was her old love from high school and college Cameron came home after being gone for a several years. The two reconnect and learn to over come the past and her current situation.

Breaking Without You will put you though all the emotions that make a good story. I enjoyed the characters and storyline, I just felt somethings were skipped over or weren't necessary for this storyline. So I personally felt that keys points were missing or some material was put in as filler and had no reason behind adding it to a chapter. Happy Reading!!
