Breaking Without You (Fractured Connections Book 1) Kindle Edition
I fell for Cameron Connolly at the wrong time.
And when he left, I thought my life was over.
But then, after the worst happened, I truly understood what that phrase meant.
Now, he’s not ready for a second chance, and I’m not offering one.
Though given that our families have been forced together after losing one of our own, I know there’s no turning back.
Not this time. Not again. Not when it comes to Cameron.

- Reviewed in Australia on 19 April 2019Verified PurchaseWhat a great start to a new series by Carrie! This one is a bit of an emotional roller coaster and focuses on the Connelly brothers and an event which fractures their brotherly bond and also focuses on Sienna, Harmony and Violet when a tragedy close to home brings uncertainty and discord to their lives. The couple that is given the most attention is Cameron and Violet and focuses on their second chance at love and trust issues because of how Cameron left years ago....with no closure!
This story is really intriguing how it looks at those questions which go unanswered in times of tragedy and consequences of actions that you think will have no repercussions but they do especially when those bonds or connections are so badly fractured💕 I look forward to the other characters in this story and unraveling more of the mysteries surrounding them all😍
- Reviewed in Australia on 16 April 2019What an emotional read. Carrie you have done it again, I seriously don’t know how it is that you are still, after so many books able to come up with these unique and wonderful stories.
Breaking Without You is book 1 in Carrie Ann Ryan’s Fractured Connection Series which is apart of The Montgomery world but like the rest of Carrie’s book can be read as a stand-alone. This book follows Violet Knight the sister to Mace Knight from Fallen Ink and Cameron Connolly.
This book is full of raw heartache emotions. Violet with her sister Sienna and friend Harmony are left to deal with the loss of their best friend Allison who is dead. Allison is not a character in the book that you will get to actually meet but she is spoken about a lot in the story. The aftermath of finding your best friend dead, having you ex boyfriend show up after 7 years and her ex husband and new wife is more than anyone should have to deal with.
Coming back home to help build up a failing brewery was not something that Cameron thought he would have to do. But coming home to do just that may be the best thing he could do to help build his bond with his brothers Aiden and Brendon and to get his girl back. But it’s not going to be easy when the Connolly brothers can’t agree on what needs to be done to keep the Connolly Brewery from shutting down.
- Reviewed in Australia on 11 October 2020Verified PurchaseLovely story where past loves reunite, best contemporary writer for romance, love the characters Violet and Cameron in addition to the other characters I can’t wait to read about next
- Reviewed in Australia on 16 April 2019Honestly, this is the best book I have read in a long time. It has everything I love when I'm reading romances - emotion, fun, likable characters, a good pace, great supporting characters, giggles & heat. Cameron & Violet were fantastic. While I'm looking forward to the future books in the Connolly Brothers series, I have to admit to hoping that Dillon gets his chance to shine. I loved what he brought to this story.
- Reviewed in Australia on 21 April 2019What a great start to another fantastic series.
This is very emotional ride and very very good. Carrie you seem to hit the nail on the head with everything that goes on in ones mind after a death without any explanation.
I highly recommend this book and author to read as Carrie is amazing.
I received a free copy of this book for a voluntarily review.
- Reviewed in Australia on 7 February 2020Verified PurchaseIf book one is an example of the new series, we have more great reads in our future.
Mace's sister, Violet, along with her dearest friends, Sienna and Harmony, are struggling to come to terms with the death of Allison, the woman who madeup number four in their tight group.
If that isn't enough, who should turn up at the funeral but the Connolly brothers, including Cameron, the man who walked away from their love without any explanation.
It seems it's time for Cameron and Violet to have a conversation and work out where thay go from here, because Cameron isn't ever going to leave again.
Next book is about Harmony and Brendan. Can't wait!

5.0 out of 5 stars An emotional second chance romance!
Verified PurchaseThe beginning of book is absolutely heartbreaking! There is so much emotion spilling out all over everywhere, I just couldn't contain myself. I think I cried through the first third of the book. There was so much hurt, so much anger, and so many unresolved feelings, I could literally feel it myself. This had to be the most emotional book that I've read this year. I really feel like it broke me apart, before putting me back together.
Violet just lost one of her best friends, with no explanations. On top of the emotions she is dealing with from that, the ex that broke her heart is back in town. She built her life back after he left her behind, but she doesn't know if she will ever be able to forgive his desertion. Cameron's life has been one disaster after another. His unstable mother lost him and his twin to the foster care system, and then they were separated. After eventually being reunited and adopted, his mother once again turns his life upside down, causing him to loose his family and the girl who holds his heart. When he returns home to Denver, intending to save his family's business, they are thrown together, and old feelings rise to the surface.
This book was so emotional, I don't think I will ever forget the way it made me feel. It's an amazing story, that brings out a true response from the reader. I can honestly say, my heart will never be the same after reading this book. If you love a book that hits you in the feelings (like I do!) this is one that you will definitely enjoy. But have the tissues handy, because you will definitely need them!

4.0 out of 5 stars This an ok read
Verified PurchaseI have to say this is not one of my favorites from this author. I know the subject of suicide is not an easy topic. But having it in written words is just as hard when you don't want to go into too much details. The story was good, but there was too much repeating of lines and paragraphs and found myself skipping pieces do to that.
Overview: violet was dealing with the unknown. She finds out her best friend committed suicide and there was no known reason leading to it. So she is picking up the pieces and trying to find a way to go on. The best part was her old love from high school and college Cameron came home after being gone for a several years. The two reconnect and learn to over come the past and her current situation.

3.0 out of 5 stars Breaking Without You
Verified PurchaseBreaking Without You will put you though all the emotions that make a good story. I enjoyed the characters and storyline, I just felt somethings were skipped over or weren't necessary for this storyline. So I personally felt that keys points were missing or some material was put in as filler and had no reason behind adding it to a chapter. Happy Reading!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Second Chance
Verified PurchaseThis is a slow burn story told from the point of view of Violet and Cameron. Violet grieves with her close friends over the suicide of Allison a valued member of their circle. They don't understand why she ended her life as there were no obvious external signs of illness or distress. They want to retain their good memories of her.
Cameron with his three brothers are striving to keep a bar open that they have inherited after being adopted by a bar owning generous couple.
We experience the slow rekindling of the second chance romance of Violet and Cameron. They love each other. But have to learn to trust each other again and have fun.
