Sullivan Baker

Moving to Laurel Springs and joining the LSERT was the best spur-of-the-moment decision I ever made. Here, out from under the expectations of my Police Chief father, I’m thriving.

I’ve found a boldness and confidence I never had in Paradise Lost.

And a woman who I can’t stop thinking about, dreaming about, and can’t seem to stay away from. Attorney Shelby Bruce knocked me for a loop and my head hasn’t stopped spinning since the night of our ‘friendmas’ Christmas party.

When there’s a physical threat to her well-being, I won’t stop at anything to protect her, even if it means losing a piece of myself in the process.

Shelby Bruce

Houston was my home until the big city reached out and bit me. Laurel Springs is more my speed, and I’ve settled into life here.

A new friend group, building my practice from the ground up, and a smoking hot new love interest has my life extremely busy and full. I’m content. More content than I ever was in my old life.

That all changes when I revise a will for one of the pillars of the Laurel Springs community. Effectively, she cuts her grandson out of her fortune. When he finds out it’s not pretty.

Worse. He blames me.

But something amazing happens. Day by day, I realize the relationships I’ve built within the community and the LSERT are stronger than I ever imagined. Especially when Sullivan Baker saves not only my life, but my heart.

When I pull into the parking lot of my apartment complex, luck is shining down on me. Shelby is doing the same in her spot a few places away. Getting out, I wait for her. I’ve wanted to see her all day.

“Did you work out?” She eyes my tank top and gym shorts.

“My second favorite kind. I played a game of pickup basketball at the rec center.”

She walks toward me, shaking her hips, letting them sway in the dim light bathing the parking lot. It’s sexy as hell; the way she carries herself. The way she tempts me with a little look, a small purse of her lips, or just the heat apparent in her green eyes. We’re a hair's breadth apart when she stops. “What’s your favorite kind of workout?”

Reaching out, I grab her by the chin, forcing it up slightly so I can see her face. “I think you know what my favorite kind of workout is, Counselor.”

Heat flares between the two of us, but when she reaches out to grab my waist, I flinch.

“Are you okay, Sully?”

“Went down hard fighting Tank for the basketball. Knew I’d feel it either tonight or tomorrow.”

She lifts up my tank top, whistling as she sees my sides. “You’re gonna have a nasty bruise in the morning,” her fingers lightly graze the skin, causing me to shiver.

“Part of the game,” I shrug like it’s no big deal, but right now it surely feels like one.

“Why don’t you come up to my apartment? I have that huge soaking tub. It’ll do you good to relax those muscles.”

“If I come up to your apartment is relaxing all I’m gonna do?” I raise an eyebrow at her, aware of how often we’ve been alone and how often we’ve ended up undressed.

“Your virtue is safe with me, Sully,” she giggles, reaching out to take my hand in hers.

“I was worried,” I lean down, kissing her softly on the lips. “Let me go get some clothes to change into, and then I will gladly use your soaker tub.”

We walk in comfortable silence, holding hands until we get to her apartment. She drops my fingers and fishes around for her keys. “Don’t take too long.”

“Trust me, I want to get back to you as soon as possible.”

Both the cop in me, and the man that’s finding himself caring deeply for her, wait until she gets inside and hears the lock put back into place before I take the stairs to my apartment. Even I’m surprised at how quickly I’m taking them, I can feel just how bruised I am, but I want to get back to Shelby. It’s a need I’m not able to explain–this feeling of wanting to be close to her. I’ve never had it before.

In my past relationships I’ve not been the guy so caught up on his girl he wasn’t able to have a life outside of her. But with Shelby? I find myself wanting to talk to her throughout the day. A phone call to ask how it’s going, to see if anyone has displeased her.

This is all new territory for me, and it’s scary. Because no matter how bad I thought my heart was broken before.

Shelby Bruce could ruin me.

"Laramie Briscoe has once again created a new character to fall in love with, and I for one am swooning. #SheliVan

Sullivan is all alpha male but with a venerable side. Shelby is intimidating until you get to know the woman underneath the veneer. The chemistry between Sully and Shelby is off the charts. Their connection is undeniable. Laurel Springs has embraced all of the new residents as if they were their own. This story was sweet, hot and swoony, just what I expect from one of the couples of LSERT.

""I'd give everything I had for you.""~Sullivan" ~Cindy

Both fairly new to Laurel Springs, both Sully and Shelby have things in their past that they'd rather not revisit and want to make a fresh start in Laurel Springs. Lucky for us, their fresh start seems to include each other. These two steam up the pages starting on Christmas, though they're both waiting for the other to bring it up so there's a bit of tiptoeing around between then and when things really start to heat up. I like that their relationship is built on both being strong and independent, yet at the same time, they can be vulnerable with each other. We found out why Sully left Paradise Lost, but would have liked to know more about why Shelby left Houston. Maybe in future stories. ~~Shirley

Ahhhh man this book and THIS HERO! I'm a huge fan of Laramie Briscoe and she consistently makes my top read list each year and y'all wow! What. A. Stunner. this beauty was. Laramie knows how to write them sexy, sweet, emotional, and unforgettable in the very best ways and this book surpassed that bar.

Sullivan is the fifth book in the Laurel Springs Emergency Response Team (LSERT) series and what a journey this was. Shelby and Sullivan rocked my world in so many moments y'all and left me wanting just a taste more of them after it was all over. Packed with heat, heart, touches of suspense, and all of the feels, they'll steal your heart and leave you needing a fresh pair of panties.

I adore this author and all the words she writes. After that sneak peek, I'm pumped for the next book!

I highly recommend this book.

Sullivan is Book 5 in Laurel Springs Emergency Response Team by Laramie Briscoe. This is Sullivan and Shelby's story and wow! What a great couple and a fabulous story! Their chemistry lit up the pages from quite literally the beginning and never stopped. The connection between them was so beautiful and brought the feels. I enjoyed how their pasts didn't overshadow their present/future. It was also good seeing previous characters pop up in this book. In this story, there is drama but there's also feelgood, just an all around amazing read!

My Rating: 4.7 stars ********

**3.5 Stars** Another fantastic adventure into Laramie Briscoe’s LSERT team. Sullivan and Shelby are both Laurel Springs transplants, and while I loved this story (and the LSERT drama that goes along with it), I just didn’t find the chemistry to be as strong as it has been in some of Laramie Briscoe’s other books.

Throughout this series, the LSERT guys have formed their own little pack and Sullivan and Shelby fit right into that. A good edition to this series.

If you are looking for a sexy cop and a badass lawyer romance set in a small town, this is the book for you! I was extremely lucky to receive an ARC copy from the author for an honest review and I could not be more grateful. This book was definitely a short and steamy romance to get you through the winter cold.

This is the fifth book in the Laurel Springs Emergency Response Team series, this book focusing on Sullivan, a brother of one of the other main characters in the previous books. Sullivan is a very sweet, protective, and extremely alluring MC and I enjoyed reading from his point of view. Maybe it’s because I haven’t read any of the other novels of the series, but I felt like we didn’t get enough back story about his past and why he felt so afraid of making a commitment with Shelby. I also found his dialogue in public to be just a little bit cheesy, but it was made up for by his steamy lines in the bedroom. Hubba Hubba!

I loved Shelby! She was such a sweet and interesting character that always just wanted to do the right thing. I wish we had also gotten to know more about her and her life before she moved to Laurel Springs, but again it might have appeared in the other novels of the series. She was definitely a badass MC and I would be extremely likely to hire her as my lawyer! She gets it done!

The chemistry between the two MCs was definitely explosive and fun to read. However, I felt that there wasn’t enough build up between the two of them. Sorry, I need more angst in my romance. (Annoying I know.) However, I felt like romance was pure and very sweet with a little bit of suspense thrown into the mix because of both of their jobs.

Overall, I really enjoyed this read and look forward to reading more from this author!

Another awesome addition to the Hot men of the Laurel Springs First Responders. Sullivan and Shelby’s story is jam packed full of emotion, hot times and vulnerability. It touched my heart and soul from the start to the very end. Sully and Shelby are both the new peeps in town. Sully is a new police officer and Shelby is the new attorney in town. Both left their prior homes hoping for a new start. (No spoilers here so you will understand their new beginnings once you read the book). They live in the same apartment building and have both easily become a part of the Task Force / First Responders gang (and it’s so great to revisit old friends from past books). Sully is a dominant, alpha male, at least on the outside. On the inside he has a tender vulnerable side that was amazing to see. As for Shelby, she is a strong independent woman which comes in handy at her job as an attorney. But behind closed doors she longs for someone to take the reins so she can let her hair down and just be her. The chemistry between these two is off the charts. But both have past issues that hold things back. Not to mention they don’t want to lose the close friendship they have. But how long can they ignore the hot sexual tension between them? Will the pull to one another and their past tear things apart or will they be just what the heart needs to heal for one another.

Amazing read full of romance, suspense and hot times behind closed doors. I highly recommend grabbing up Sullivan and all the Laurel Springs First Responder Books (and the Task Force Series). You won’t regret a single one.

This was a sweet, hot and romantic story and we really get to know two new characters to the series and see them get close to other characters in this series and previous series. In the last book featuring Cutter we met Rowan and her brother, Sullivan. Rowan ends up moving to town because she fell in love with Cutter and her brother ended up moving to town too. We really didn't know him well and so this story, well we get to really meet Sully and find out his past and what he wants for his future.

It also introduces some brand new characters to the series and most especially new lawyer in town, Shelby. Shelby and Sully have many things in common. One is that they share common friends, are both new in town, and they are neighbors and they also are hot for each other.

It takes Sully a bit of time to decide if he wants to pursue Shelby and that drove me a little crazy but I loved how sure he was when he finally makes his move. I also loved the new characters added to this series and I loved seeing all the fun characters and their significant others from previous interconnected stories in the series.

As with all books in this series, there is some drama but I would say its extremely light and I loved how tough and strong Shelby is in this story. If you love kick ass heroines and strong, silent type cop heroes you will love this story. I loved it and found it another great addition to this series.

I received a free ARC copy of this book from the author prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I love the men and women in Laurel Springs and Sullivan and Shelby’s story is just as hot, entertaining and danger riddled as the others. The men and women of Laurel Springs are loyal, kind and funny. The LSERT are a family and will stand by each other through everything.

Sullivan Baker needed to find his way on his own in life. He was tired of following in the shadows of his father and brother, so he followed his sister to Laurel Springs, and it was the best change for him. Sullivan is a guy that is looking for someone to love and return his feelings. He’s sexy, loyal and sweet.

Attorney Shelby Bruce needed to find something quieter and less stressful for her law office. After leaving Houston, TX for Laurel Springs, she found more than just a quiet town to open her practice, she found an extended family and friends that worried about her and cared about her as well. Shelby is a woman that has had some darkness in her past due to her job, but she’s sweet, beautiful and sexy. She wants Sullivan and she’ll bring him around to her way of thinking soon enough.

Sullivan and Shelby are both gun shy when it comes to relationships, but once they figure out that Laurel Springs is a different town with different people, they are able to relax a bit and find their way to a more fulfilling life and relationship. The women of Laurel Springs are funny, sassy, strong and entertaining. I love reading these books and love, love, love the characters. I give this story a 5-star review and cannot wait for the next book in the LSERT series.

This is book five in The Laurel Spring Emergency Response Team Series and it is Sullivan and Shelby's story and omg this book is amazing. This is the book that I have been waiting a long time to read and Laramie definitely didn't disappoint her reader's. Sully and Shelby have a connection and chemistry between them that is so hot that you can feel it sizzling of the pages of this book but with them both have secrets and have had really bad relationships in there past but will they do anything about it or not and miss out on something special. The characters and storyline pulled you in right from the first page and I couldn't put this book down as I had to see what would happen next and it was so addictive. I love how the whole team have each other's backs and are always there for each other and are all treated as family. There are twists and turns along with danger, betrayal, secrets, abuse, great chemistry, suspense, drama, hope, sadness, love and emotional situations that keep you on the edge of your seat and I can't wait to read the next book in this amazing series. Laramie Briscoe is an incredible author and writer and everyone of her books are a true masterpiece and a must read. This is a standalone book but I suggest that you read the whole series to get the background history from the other couples and you will definitely not be disappointed.

Sullivan (Laurel Springs Emergency Response Team #5) by Laramie Briscoe was a great 5 star read. Once I started I couldn’t put it down, I finished in one sitting it was so good.

All I can say is I couldn’t stop picturing Sullivan in his uniform. Both Sullivan and Shelby light up the pages with their chemistry. They are both very strong characters and I loved them together.

Sullivan has been noticing Shelby for some time now, and when he gets the chance he shows her just what she does to him. And it was hawt as heck. We watch these two fumble with their attraction until finally they decide to give it a shot. They are both hard workers and devoted to their jobs, they also find they have a lot in common. Can they make things work and get a HEA?

We get romance, steaminess, suspense, danger and so much more in this must read. All of the characters in this book added so much to the story, I loved seeing some characters from previous books as well. If you're looking for a great series that pulls you right in this is the one for you. We do get a lead into the next book in the series and I can’t wait. Each book can be read as a stand alone but I highly suggest you read from the beginning so you get to know the family. 1-click and get started today.

I thought that my love for Menace was going to be replaced by Sullivan but I can honestly say that Sullivan is definitely in second place for my heart. But aside from that, Sullivan was an amazing read and a great addition to this series.

Sullivan came to Laurel Springs to start over and did not think that he would find the love of his life. He wanted a fresh start in his career away from his father's police chief legacy and out of the shadow of his older brother along with the betrayal of a broken heart. He did not bargain for Shelby or the dance the pair that they would do around each other.

Shelby also came to Laurel Springs for a new start and did not expect Sullivan. After a tragic loss in her career she uproots her life and restarts her career. She too avoids her attraction for Sullivan until a chance encounter and the chemistry between the pair goes off the charts.

Both characters were well written with amazing chemistry. Sullivan was an alpha male with a tender caring side while Shelby was a strong, determined woman. Both characters were likeable and enjoyable to read. I also enjoyed the return of the characters from previous books and series and the interactions between them.

Overall, this book felt like it flew by and was a great read. I enjoyed this book from page one and would recommend it to others.

Reading this book is like coming home. The fictional small town Laurel Springs holds a special place in my heart, namely because my book-husband Mason aka Menace lives there *grins*

Laramie Briscoe introduced us to our 2 MCs, newly transplanted to this small town. Sullivan works as a police officer moved from Paradise Lost and Shelby, a lawyer who moved from Houston. Being new, it is normal that they gravitates towards each other and very soon they found themselves envelopes into the warm welcoming arms of the locals. As we read through the book, we discovered the reasons behind the departure of both Sully and Shelby from the place that they stayed. Do I ship these 2 together? I totally do, all were not smooth when they first got together. There were some misunderstandings and really, I feel Sully's past experience contributed a lot to it.

As much as I enjoyed these 2, I looked forward to seeing my beloved past characters cameos and catching up on what's happening in their lives. Once again, Laramie Briscoe is wonderful at creating characters that we as readers couldn't help but learn to adore and care. I look forward to the next book in this series.

Thank you for the advance copy, do note that the thoughts above are all of my own.

Sullivan & Shelby

The cop and the lawyer. They were both transplants to Laural Springs making a new life for themselves. They'd been eyeing each other for a time without doing much about it until a Christmas party brings them together in a way neither expected. Are they going to find a future together?

They have a close-knit group including the police force, medical emergency team, and more. They work and play together. Sullivan would sure like to spend time playing with Shelby. Neither was sure what the other wanted even after their Christmas special. But more time as friends become more and they were mutually involved in a case that could bring danger to Shelby, Sullivan knew he had to protect her.

I love all of the characters (except the bad guys, of course) the author has created. The camaraderie is amazing. Shelby is thrilled to be accepted into the group. This is a world of first responders that we wish existed in every town and city. My only problem with this series is waiting for the next book.

Hello Sullivan! I think I have a new Laurel Springs character, behind Menace of course. Sullivan and Shelby light fires with one another from page one and never stop. Can I just say that you will need a fan after reading the scene that involves handcuffs and a kitchen chair. The two of them have amazing chemistry and their backstories will tug at your heart. I loved their interactions with one another and I loved seeing all the glimpses of old and new characters. As with all LSERT books, there is drama but I don’t want to give anything away. The drama is just a small part of the storyline since so much centers on Shelby and Sullivan’s relationship. I loved how this books focused more on their relationship than anything. It was great seeing their relationship build and watching walls come down This book was an amazing read and a great addition to this series. Can’t wait for Devante and Eden! I received an authors copy and I have left an honest review.

I loved watching Sullivan and Shelby’s relationship blossom from friends to lovers. As their relationship progresses you see them start to open up and learn to trust again. They each have moments from their pasts that they need to overcome. Their chemistry is hot from the very start of the book, Sully is able to give Shelby something no one else can. I loved seeing Sullivan’s relationship with Rowan, them picking out her wedding dress was such an aww moment. Both Sullivan and Shelby are settling in to Laurel Springs and meeting more people and becoming friends with all the ones we know and love. Seeing the little glimpse of all the LSERT people, especially Menace is fun. Like the other books there is another parallel story involving the two as well that brings some drama to the book. A nice change from some book drama is it’s not the relationship kind.

Sullivan gets his story and maybe his girl.

Sullivan, a a policeman and Shelby, an attorney are not from Laurel Springs, but they now call it home. Since they met, they have been dancing around each other but neither of them has made a move so friends they are. When Shelby gets drunk at a Christmas party and Sullivan is tasked with taking her home, that night changes everything. Can they get out of their own way to build their happily ever after?

I loved Sullivan and Shelby together once they learned to communicate. They have a smoking hot chemistry and truly enjoyed each other's company. No road to love ever runs smooth so they of course have their share of obstacles to get through. Shelby's job puts in the the path of an abuser with a grudge so Sullivan does everything he can to protect his lady.

It was great to see the other characters from Laurel Springs in this story and I can't want for the next book!

Laramie Briscoe does it again with her newest edition to the LSERT series. I absolutely adored Sully and Shelby. They have been dancing around their connection for a while, both afraid of revealing their feelings. But things start moving forward....slowly but surely. And as usual Laramie Briscoe gives us a well written, well thought out book with no couple angst once they get together. The one thing I love about her books is that once the couple comes together, they are together...not qualms, not without issue, but they never waver in their feelings and emotions. There is an outside force that isn't happy with things that Shelby has done in her profession as a lawyer, and he is going to make her pay for it. There is such an amazing supporting group of characters, and I love the way they interact with each other. You do NOT have to read the first 4 LSERT books, but honestly, why wouldn't you!

Ok ladies, pack your bags, we’re heading to Laurel Springs! Briscoe delivers yet another incredible story. After meeting Sullivan in Cutter, I couldn’t wait to dive into his character.

Sullivan and Shelby had a chemistry that was impossible to ignore. Kindred spirits longing for a connection, perhaps fated to find it in one another. I just loved how cute they were and how natural their relationship felt.

Briscoe always includes some suspense and a sense of danger that really adds to the overall excitement. This aspect really highlighted to us how brave Shelby was. She was a great character, vulnerable yet strong. She and Sullivan made a great team and I couldn’t get enough of them.
Of course, we get to spend time with the whole MTF/LSERT team and I loved that! It’s always fun catching up. The little tease at the end of the book has me beyond excited for what’s to come!!

Wholly cow this series just keeps getting better and better. But warning now you will have moments when sully has you needing a fan to cool down because he's one hot dirty boy.

But saying that your not going to want to put it down your going to be jonesing for more. But I love traveling to Laramie book town of laurel springs, it feels like home just even reading it in her books.

Now back to Sullivan and his councilor Shelby your going to love how these two who are transplants to laurel springs make it their home. You can feel the chemistry between them right from the start but as you read it gets even better. I'm not going to tell you how it goes but I will say you do need to pick this bad boy up as soon as he's available and make a do not disturb sign and get your self some of this good stuff Laramie has put out. Plus hot cop like girls you should be placing your hand way in the air saying gimme gimme lol

SIGH.... I think I just found myself a new book boyfriend. I do believe Sully is my favorite LSERT team member to date.
Sullivan Baker is everything I love in my main character. He is alpha, he is so swoon-worthy, and he is just so damn delicious. Sullivan is the quiet one you need to look out for, because you know there is so much more to him than meets the eyes. His past has left him a little jaded, but it does not hold him back when it comes to Shelby. He is more alpha than the rest, and that is saying something. I mean lets face it these men love hard when they find the one. Shelby Bruce is so damn sassy and I love the fire that burns with in her. These two are made for each other and I love the fact that they really do complete each other. She has a backbone and refuses to let anyone walk all over her.

I never thought Ransom could be beat and get knocked down from being my favorite, but Sullivan has quickly stolen that spot and become a favorite of the LSERT men for me. Sullivan and Shelby are not from the very beginning, but like any couple they have some kinks to work through. I love feeling like I am in the story with these characters and a part of the whole Laurel Springs family. Sullivan and Shelby both have they reservations about relationships from their past but they make it through with some bumps here and there. We get some sadness, some anger, and just the right amount of suspense and drama in this story. I don’t know if Sullivan’s story can be beat, but I can’t wait to read the next LSERT story and see.

This book had me gasping out loud during the gripping moments but I also laughed so hard when Whitney and Leigh were in a bidding war at the auction. It is not easy for Sullivan and Shelby to trust because they trusted the wrong people in the past. The smoking hot chemistry between these two was phenomenal to read and so well written. This book has so many levels that take you through their journey of being strong, determination, protection and letting down your guard to someone you can finally trust. Sullivan is the type of man who will do anything for those he loves especially his little sister which included dress shopping. Shelby believes in helping her community and providing the best attorney service to those she represents.

Sullivan is book 5 in the popular Laurel Springs Emergency Response Series written by the talented author Laramie Briscoe. This is Sullivan Baker & Shelby Bruce sexy and captivating story! I loved reading about the made-up small town of Laurel Springs and their wonderful characters. Sully & Shelby are a great pair, she's a lawyer moved from Houston and Sully is a police officer moved from Paradise Lost. Being the new two people in a small town they connect, have great chemistry and are attracted to each other. A must read for any L.B. Fan, you wont be disappointed!!! This is the 5th book in this phenomenal series and is Sully and Shelby’s story. These two are both new in Lauren Springs to make a fresh start, and Sully is a cop while Shelby is a lawyer, and they have been dancing around each other for some time, that is until a Christmas party brings them together. There is an undeniable attraction between these two, and I loved how they could show each other their vulnerable sides. This is a beautifully written tale which has danger, suspense, friendships, off the chart’s chemistry, which all leads to a sweet and steamy tale. I was totally captivated throughout this riveting and addictive page turner, and I look forward to reading more from this gifted author whose work I highly recommend for all.

HOT is the word I would use to describe this book. Sullivan and Shelby were a perfect match and the chemistry between them was explosive. I love being back in Laurel Springs. I picked up this book last night and I was hooked. I had it read by this morning. All that I was thinking about was OMG what is going to happen next. With what is going on in the world when a book can hold me so captivated I forget about everything else then to me that book is a MUST READ! Trust me you do not want to miss a moment of Sullivan and Shelby's journey. I voluntarily reviewed this book in exchange for an honest review.

If you think the cover is hot, what till you read the book. You will love Sullivan. His chemistry with Shelby is off the charts. There was a lot I liked about this book. I felt like I really got to know both Shelby and Sully when we got a little more of their back story. It just made me adore them even more. It was also great that we got to see the rest of the LSERT family. I love their comradery, and there were some really funny moments. I sometimes have to remind myself that Laurel Springs isn't a real place and these are book characters. And Sully and Rowan dress shopping? Swoon! I read the entire book in one sitting – it was so good I couldn’t put it down. You won’t want to miss this one.

OMG, Sullivan is amazing!! Shelby the spunky lawyer and Sully finally take the plunge at a Christmas party, however, both are too stubborn for their own good. Days turn into weeks and the chemistry between the two is off the charts. Finally Shelby bites the bullet and tells Sully she remembers EVERYTHING that happened. Now they are on a mission to make up for lost time. Toss in a sweet and caring little old lady and a douche canoe wife beater and you get a really great read! This is such a wonderful addition to the LSERT series that you will be glued to your Kindle til the end. I voluntarily received an ARC copy of this book and I have left my 100% honest review.

Sullivan for the win... I am obsessed with him. He was funny, sweet and down right sizzling H-O-T! He has a huge heart and all I wanted to do was bask in his glory 😍 so yeah..like said - OBSESSED!!!

Now let's talk about Shelby. She was my spirit animal. She was strong, feisty and had a heart of gold just like Sullivan and wanted to help everyone who were in need of it. Together they made perfect sense and I adore them as a couple.

I'll sum this up with next words - This is probably my favorite book by Laramie Briscoe so far!!!
