Flirting with the Frenemy (Copper Valley Bro Code Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 13,462 ratings

He's a hot single dad. A military man with abs of steel. My brother's best friend. My biggest enemy. And now my fake date to my best friend's wedding. Disasterville, here we come...

Mission: Survive my best friend's wedding, where I must play nice with my ex and his perfect new girlfriend.

Strategy: Bring the hottest fake boyfriend on the planet.

Target: Grady Rock. Master Baker. Dimples. Muscles. The unicorn of fake boyfriends.

Complication: Wyatt Morgan. My brother's best friend. My sworn enemy. Military man. Sexy as hell single dad. The man I let into my panties for one night of hot hate sex after my ex dumped me.

And the man who just scared off that perfect fake boyfriend.

By pretending to be my real boyfriend.

I can roll with this though. What’s the harm in Flirting with the Frenemy if it helps me get the job done?

Complete my mission and move on.

Or so I thought.

Until Wyatt kisses me again and I start feeling things I shouldn't.

The thing about weddings...nothing ever goes as planned.

Flirting with the Frenemy is a rollicking fun romantic comedy featuring a single dad military man, an irritatingly attractive blast from his past, pirates, cursing parrots, and a wedding gone wild. It stands alone with no cheating or cliffhangers.

Pippa Grant wanted to write books, so she did.

Before she became a USA Today and #1 Amazon bestselling romantic comedy author, she was a young military spouse who got into writing as self-therapy. That happened around the time she discovered reading romance novels, and the two eventually merged into a career. Today, she has more than 30 knee-slapping Pippa Grant titles and nine published under the name Jamie Farrell.

When she’s not writing romantic comedies, she’s fumbling through being a mom, wife, and mountain woman, and sometimes tries to find hobbies. Her crowning achievement? Having impeccable timing for telling stories that will make people snort beverages out of their noses. Consider yourself warned.

Watch out universe!

Watch out universe!
Ellie and Wyatt, we're always antagonizing each other growing up, then on Christmas her boyfriend breaks up with her, so she goes to her family's home to find Wyatt there also depressed. He's in the military and a single dad who misses his son. After a night together, a series of bad things happen. Fast forward to her best friend's wedding, and while staying at her brother's place, Wyatt shows up there with his son. He ends up pretending to be her fake boyfriend since her ex will be there, and from there, one thing after the other happens. They can both give each other what they need, but Ellie feels like the universe doesn't want them to be together. I loved all the funny moments with the pirates and the video games and the banter! Plus the hot ones! I'm definitely moving on to book 2!

FUN. That’s what this book is. It's just so darn much fun! Everything about it, all the way through it is fun. It’s also hilarious, zany, outrageous, quirky, steamy, evocative, poignant and sweet. With an adorable kid, a delightfully unique cast of secondary characters, an ex who doesn’t seem to understand the meaning of “ex,” a foul-mouthed parrot, pirates and treasure hunts, dueling town festivals, farm animals run amok, and a phenomenal theme wedding, this book has something for every reader.

As only Grant can, she sets the scene with a quirky destination wedding that brings two frenemies with an awkward history back together, while giving us two popular tropes of brother's best friend and single dad. Ellie and Wyatt's last encounter involved broken hearts, alcohol and lost clothing, resulting in a bad accident, feelings of inadequacy and piles of guilt. Now, Ellie is staying at one of her brother's many homes, this one in the delightfully wacky town of Shipwreck, to be part of her best friend's wedding festivities. Too bad her brother offered the same house to his best friend, Wyatt, and his son, Tucker, knowing Ellie would be there.

I adore everything about these characters! Both Ellie and Wyatt are complex, eternally endearing, and just a bit broken. As they set aside their childhood bickering and really get to know each other, the vulnerabilities that are slowly revealed make it impossible not to love them and be fully invested in them finally getting their forever together. Little Tucker, as well as Beck, whose not a kid but often acts like one, provide some delightful comedy as well as surprising insight that provoke the reader's contemplation. For those who don’t like kids in romance, I suspect you just haven’t met a kid like Tucker. His character is done extremely well -- adorable, smart, precocious and no verbal filter, providing some of the best moments in the book.

Barring alien abduction, demonic possession or a complete psychotic break, Pippa will always be a 1-click author for me. Oh, who am I kidding? No force on earth can keep me from reading her books. I don’t give my book money away, willy nilly, but Grant has earned herself a top spot in my must-read authors. With outrageous humor that makes reading her books in public impossible without garnering strange looks, pointing and whispering, and her ability to pack an emotional punch and embed her characters deep in my heart, Grant always leave me supremely satisfied while still wanting more from her. She strikes the perfect balance of outrageous, madcap hilarity, heartfelt emotion and delicious sensuality, making me fall for every new character I meet. Whatever circumstances you find yourself in, whether your day is horrendous or fantastic, Grant's writing will make your life even better. I dare you to read Ellie and Wyatt’s story without laughing out loud, feeling your heartstrings being tugged, and having that satisfying happy sigh at the end. Go ahead and hit the 1-Click. I promise you won’t regret it.

Anytime I want a fun, quirky romance that makes me feel good and laugh I can always depend on Pippa Grant. Flirting with the Enemy is a frenemy to lovers, single dad, military guy, brother’s BFF, forced proximity romance. Ellie and Wyatt grew up together and have a long history of annoying each other constantly.

After being dumped by her boyfriend at Christmas Ellie and Wyatt have one heated encounter that ends unexpectedly . 6 mos later and Ellie is still recovering physically and emotionally from an accident and Wyatt is still living with guilt over how that night ended. Ellie is in town to be in her BFF’s Pirate themed wedding and has planned on taking a fake boyfriend so that she doesn’t have to face her ex alone. She’s staying in her brother’s house, but doesn’t know he has also invited Wyatt and his son to stay as well. Wyatt doesn’t get to see his son that often because he’s in the military and they’re in town to enjoy the local Pirate Festival. Accidentally ruining Ellie’s fake boyfriend option, he then gets roped into being the new fake boyfriend.

This one has so much heart and healing. I loved how Ellie and Wyatt really discover one another and figure out what their complicated feelings really mean. It’s hard to sometimes see what’s right in front of you and their love was a long time coming. It had been there for so many years, but they just didn’t really realize it. Their chemistry was undeniable and it was so sweet and funny to see how everyone else seemed to know it before they did. The tension between the two of them was there and the stream was steamy.

Most of this story takes place around a pirated themed festival which made for some very funny situations. Throw in a foul-mouthed parrot and let the hijinks begin! I really enjoyed this story and the characters so much and can’t wait to read the next book.

I liked the story… the superstition part is a bit forced, and I’m happy the author abandons it in the end…

This book got me hooked from the start till the end. Ellie and Wyatt are in love but don't know it. The background of the story is so fun to read.. I really like how PG wrote the story. All the extras characters make the story more fun to read. Lots of lol moments between Ellie and Wyatt.. And smeaxys🔥🔥🔥🔥 moments.

Written in dual first person POV. Couple of sexy scenes and good amount of humor. Characters are likable (except for the ones you’re not supposed to like).

I read some of the negative reviews and lots of them stated that the pirate wedding theme went too far but if you’ve ever known someone committed enough to have a theme wedding then you know that most of the pirate shenanigans are completely plausible. My biggest problem with the book was the lack of details in some chapters including the ending. I know that the author provides a link to sign up for her newsletter and get a “bonus” epilogue but the epilogue we’re given felt incomplete and I didn’t want to sign up for something just to possibly read a little more.

This book can definitely be read as a standalone as I don’t think there’s really a tie in to the Mr. McHottie universe except for the band Bro Code which the heroine’s brother was a member of a while ago.

I loved this book . Both characters are very lovable . Ellie and Wyatt are frenemies since childhood he always pushed her and challenged her to be better she always pushed him and got on his nerves . Until one fateful night when they were both vulnerable and they gave up to their emotions and hooked together, but that didn't go well for Ellie specially when Wyatt started apologizing like he regretted her which made her leave the house on a rush and have an accident after which she froze Wyatt out. Fast forward six month Wyatt has his son and Beck (Ellie 's brother) offers his house for their holiday little did Wyatt know that Ellie was staying there for the week of her friend's wedding . And OMG let the fun begin from their encounter to all the following events seems that these two are jinxed and the universe is against them being together cause everytime these two give way to their feelings something bad happens . Is the universe gonna give them a break, are they going to fight to be together or give up after few mishaps? You're gonna have to read it to find out .
PS I LOVED THE PIRATE WEDDING CHAPTERS . LOOKING FORWARD TO READING ALL THE OTHER SUPPORT CHARACTERS BOOKS

This book was so much fun!!! Like so, so much fun!

A destination wedding, enemies turned friends turned lovers - SET ON FIRE (in more ways than one!) - and some absolutely hilarious situations that ensue because Ellie is convinced the universe is out to get them when she decides to fall for her former enemy (and her brother's best friend) Wyatt. I loved every second of this story and by the end I was screaming to see the next book because I have to know what Beck did! The teaser for the next book is just that - a total tease!

I want to go live in Shipwreck with the pirate festival and the ever salty Long Beak Silver. I want to eat banana pudding with them, and the best pizza around, and dig up treasure on the beach. This is probably the town of my dreams and Pippa brought it to life!

Wyatt and Ellie are both tortured souls but they really learn how to connect with each other and bring out the best in one another. There were moments where I laughed, a couple where I cried, but there was never a moment where this story did not make me happy! Watching Ellie, Wyatt and little Tucker come together as a family is beautiful and you're going to love it!

    Spanish & English Opinion

    ESP ::

    ENG ::

Entertaining story with original events and details. Ellie is a particular heroine and so is the tow where the story happens (a pirate town!).

Wyatt is a hot, alpha, single father that has lots of sexual tension and funny banter with Ellie. Their dynamic is highly entertaining.

The only thing that was a bit confusing was that I felt like I needed to read something first in order to fully comprehend some important aspects. (There were moments when there were mentioned some characters and it seemed that besides mentioning the name, there was no need to explain something else because the name already did. Since this is my first book from the author... it was confusing.)

However, if you keep reading, you manage to fill the gaps. Definitely many funny stuff and Tucker is really cute.
