My Blue (Matson Brothers Book 2) Kindle Edition
Ella Blue and I were high school sweethearts, until her father forbade us to see each other.
We were forced miles apart. One moment, she was my whole world. The next, she was out of my life.
Ten years have passed, and I never got over Ella. She comes back to town with her all-girls band, but I figure she doesn’t want to see me.
Then I get a call from the hospital. Tragedy has struck. Ella has amnesia, and she can’t remember a thing… except me.
All she can recall is the last night we spent together, before our lives were ripped apart. She still thinks we have our forever.
Together, we piece together the mystery that led to the loss of her memory, only to find there’s more between us than we ever imagined.
Ella Blue doesn’t know who she is, but I do. There’s a chance we can get back our once-in-a-lifetime love.
This time, I’ll never let her go.
My Blue is the second book in the Matson Brothers Duet. No cliffhanger. It can be read as a standalone.
Intended for readers 18 years and older.

About the author

Emery grew up in Southern Arkansas and has lived most of her adult life in Northern Louisiana. She spends her days working as a Nurse Practitioner in rural health and her nights reading, writing, and occasionally sleeping.
She loves real life romance…lots of angst and heartbreak, but always a happy ending.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 17, 2019Oh Mylanta! I'm keeping this short and sweet. READ THIS BOOK. You will fall in love with Ella and Leo. You will be on the edge of your seat with anticipation, wanting to know what will happen as you chew on your fingernails until there is nothing left of them (I speak from experience) If you want an emotionally involved, second chance at love story, this is that book. Pick it up. Right now. You will not regret it!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 19, 2019Ella Blue and Leo are high school sweethearts who have grown up together and have loved each other basically their entire lives. On the night of Ella Blue's 17th birthday, she and Leo are celebrating together when he is arrested without cause. She appeals to her father, who sends Ella Blue to an all-girls boarding school in Florida and threatens Leo if she ever contacts him again.
Eight years later, she is in a band and has a concert in her old hometown. Leo is shocked to see Ella Blue on stage, but she leaves before he can get to her. She disappears and turns up two days later disoriented and with amnesia. Her last memory is her 17th birthday with Leo eight years ago. Together they try to work out what happened to her and piece together not only that night but the previous eight years of her life.
This book was pretty good, but I had mixed feelings reading it. In the beginning, since Ella's first instinct is to go to her father for help, we assume they have a good relationship. However we're blindsided by the cold tyrant he really is. There is no backstory of her family life at all. The main story of the book is perfectly frustrating, in that it's not easy to figure out what happened to Ella Blue the night of the concert. However, at 85% in we still don't know and I was starting to think this was a duet and I had missed that information. The story gets wrapped up fairly quickly, though, and there is still room for an epilogue in that last 15% of the book. We still have the unanswered question of what happened initially in Ella Blue's relationship with her parents to go from loving and happy to the tyrant and the puppet against their daughter.
Overall, a good story but the ending seems rushed.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 26, 2019This is a tough one to review because I really liked the premise but things felt a bit incomplete at times and the loose ends bugged me. I think I wanted more closure. The writing did slow a bit here and there but I was interested enough to keep reading.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 18, 2019My Blue is a book that will pull at your heart strings. Ella Blue and Leo are in love and happy. He is close to graduating high school while she still has a year left. She is trying to talk him into going to college and she will follow, but he knows that college isn't for him. While trying to promise her forever, the cops show up and arrest Leo. Neither one knows why he is being arrested and the cops won't tell him. While he is in jail overnight, Ella goes home and is confronted by her parents. This is where the first heart break occurs; her parents say they believe her, yet they force her to leave town and threaten Leo if she ever contacts him in any way again. The next morning, Leo shows up wanting to make sure that Ella is okay and her father threatens him.
Eight years later, Ella comes back to town. He tries to talk to her, but is too late, due to his car being stolen. When he gets a phone call from her new best friend, his life is turned upside down. Ella doesn't remember anything from the last eight years. He wants to be there for her, but he doesn't want to risk getting his heart torn out and stompped on all over again.
This book takes the reader on an emotional roller coaster. On one hand, you want them to get back together because they were torn apart. On the other hand, you don't want Leo to get hurt again, because he doesn't know that she was forced to leave all those years ago. He believes she left of her own volition. While trying to get her memory back, Leo and Ella grow closer, but things seem to go from bad to worse. As she starts getting little snippets of memory back, she starts worrying that Leo will walk away.
I didn't want to put this book down. I had to find out what caused Ella to lose her memory. I also had to find out if there was any way Leo could get his Blue back. A wonderful story about young love that was ripped away and the journey to find their happiness.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest, voluntary review.

3.0 out of 5 stars Really good
It was a very short and fast book to read, but still provoked intense emotions!
In the first chapters we see two teenagers in love, 8 years before the current time, Ella Blue and Leo. It's Blue's 17th birthday and Leo was going to ask her to marry him when her parents have Leo arrested for a crime he didn't commit. They make a deal, she goes away forever and never talks to him ever again and they have the charges dropped. Blue's father is the mayor of the city and an idiot.
8 years later Ella is the lead singer of a band and Leo sees her singing and tries to go after her, but she disappears. A day later Blue appears without current memory and she thinks she's still seventeen and only trusts Leo.
They get closer as she tries to find out what happened to her that was traumatic enough to erase her memory. And at the same time, they fall back in love.
I was very upset at how ease Blue's parents were forgiven. And while I enjoy the story, I think the mystery of what happened with her could have been better worked on. They fell back in love too fast as well. But that's my problem with short books. The story is really cool, I loved the protagonists, but I wanted to hit many other characters hahaha. It was my first experience with the author and I really appreciated and want to see more.
