This was a hard read for me, but it wasn't because it's a bad book -- it's the exact opposite. This is truly an amazing, emotional romance that I could not stop thinking about, and even though I finished a few hours ago, the characters and the storyline is very much etched into my soul. It was hard to read because of how *real* it was, to the point where I felt like I was living Reese's experiences. My god, that woman has been though absolute hell, but seeing the badass lioness that she turned out to be made me CHEER her on. I just can't say it enough -- I love her so much.
As much as I really loved Gabriel in his book (the first in the series) it was Rowdy that stole the show for me. His relationship with Frankie, how he was willing to step up and love both her and her child unconditionally even though on some level he knew that life would never be that all consuming love they both deserved moved me to the point of tears. So actually getting inside of his head? GOODNESS I adored him even more. He's had his own struggles in his life, and is currently experiencing a loss and a revelation that turns his entire world on its axis, but he has his kitten along side him every step of the way. For such a cocky alphahole, he is truly one of the sweetest men I've ever had the pleasure of reading, and I loved him even more for the way he was with Reese. This gentle giant turned me into a pile of goo! I love him so much!
As for the actual storyline, I said above how real it is, and on top of that with my own history, I just connected with Reese something fierce. My heart utterly broke for her, but I truly loved how much she evolves throughout the book. And I LOVED how she was never afraid of Rowdy's touch, and how he was the one she went to when she had her panic attacks, even before they were in a relationship. They just grounded each other in such a poetic way, and were each others protectors in every sense of the word. I seriously can't love these two enough!
Another thing I truly loved was that Rowdy came to the realization almost right away that he was never IN love with Frankie, but rather the idea of her. When he went in with Reese he was all in, and I loved how he settled that with her immediately too.
What I really love about this authors wiritng is her ability to make me fall so completely in love with her side characters. I fell for Rowdy in Gabriel's book, and now I am utterly obsessed with Captain in Rowdy's. I seriously cannot get enough of him! I cried tears for him as well (I refuse to spoil what happens, but goodness, so many tears!!) And I just NEED his book now! I can't wait to see who his lady love is!
I'm so obsessed with this authors words and series, and I definitely recommend these books to everyone! I know you will be hooked as much as I am! Just please be aware of the trigger warnings!
Trigger warnings: sexual assault, rape, abuse, ovarian cancer.
**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions!**
I'm not a reviewer that rehashes the plot, if you're reading the reviews you know what the book is about. I also purposely do not include spoiling details. I will tell you what I look for in a review, what I like (or don't) about the story. I will start by saying I don't give 5 stars often. This series begins with No Mercy (another 5 star read) and Rowdy is a fantastic addition. They are stand alone complete stories, theoretically you could read Rowdy without having read No Mercy. However, as there are crossover characters you will enjoy Rowdy much more if you have read No Mercy. Now...I LOVE this book, it touches on some pretty sensitive topics that most people don't like to acknowledge much less talk about. It is done tastefully, truly adds to the story, and there is a Happily Every After. The only violence is in the ring and during training (I don't want to give the impression of violence against women). The characters are well developed, intelligent, and loyal. Their interactions make sense and are engaging. I was totally pulled into the story, so much that I did nothing but read today. There is a surprise reveal I didn't see coming, that's a major accomplishment in my book. It's hard for an author to surprise me. It hit all the emotional marks for me, I cried and smiled, and cried again. Do yourself a favor and read this book!
I don't want it to be oveeeeer! 😫 I'm seriously in love with this series! The characters are amazing, the plot is mind-blowing and everything is perfect. I'm really in love. I read this so fast I feel like I should reread it now but I'm also super curious about Cap's story. I also can't wait to read Cowboys' story! He's so sweet!!!
But anyway, about Rowdy... Rowdy is the new fighter at Black Ops team. He first met Frankie when she and Gabriel were going through some rough times and helped her a lot. He even got messed up over it because he thought he loved Frankie, but she was just his friend. He then meets Gabriel's baby sister, Reese. Gabriel and Reese had a rough childhood and a horrible father that left scars on both of them but with Rowdy, Reese can finally try to live with those demons.
He’s like nothing—no one—else. I don’t fear his closeness. I don’t fear the darkness that shrouds him at times. He’s the only dark I’m not afraid of.
These two are so much alike, it's crazy. They both have some demons to chase and some darkness to get away but both also have a lot of strength because of that darkness.
It’s lit for her, so she’s not scared. It’s lit for me because that’s what she is. She’s my light in the darkness within. She’s my Wendy, and she just fucking pinned my shadow to my foot.
This book is amazing and I LOVED every second of it!!!
Rowdy is book two and although you probably could read this as a standalone I highly suggest reading No Mercy as the Author intended them to be read. That being said I loved No Mercy, Gabriel and Frankie were amazing characters, but Rowdy played a really important part in the end of their story. These three characters will be forever connected. Rowdy was Frankie's Knight when she felt she had nothing he was ready to give her everything because of there intense connection and trust in each other. At the time he thought that connection meant he was in love with Frankie he later realizes he wasn't although he still would have done anything for her. Gabriel and Rowdy's friendship is also quite extraordinary. Gabriel could be forever angry and jealous of his girls relationship with his gym-mate. But instead he respects and even protects it, even more so when he sees how much his traumatized sister also trust him. It is how these characters are brought to life through their bounds, friendships, and how the author allows them to be vulnerable and real. Because real men cry! But they'll also knock you down for being disrespectful to their family. Reese I loved watching her character work through her PTSD with all the love and support of all the guys from the gym. There were so many things she went through. I'd love to tell you all of them but what you really need to do is get the book and discover all their secrets and there are some that may bring tears, some that may bring ah ha moments, some that may shock you, and some you are definitely going to love. I can't wait to read the next book❣️
"You think this is a love story. You're wrong. It's a massacre." ~Rowdy This story hits all the emotions. You will cry, laugh and will be mad all within a chapter. We all feel in love with Rowdy in No Mercy, but his story is just starting. He has had a somewhat normal life. Mom and Dad that love him, a brother that has issues with him and a sister he loves. His Cocky personality is in full force but he has a sweet spot for a girl that caught his eye. Reese is the sister of Gabriel, from No Mercy, and her past has given her a hard life to live with. She herself calls herself a mouse, but what Rowdy sees is a Lion. They both have this darkness to them that they live in, and see in each other. With the odds against them and their past being bigger than they thought, will they have a chance. This book seriously had me laughing so hard one moment and in tears the next. Such a great book. The characters are ALL so beautifully written you will crave more!!! Thank you for a wonderful book. Come on book 3!!!!
Rowdy is attracted to Reese he knows her brother a friend an fellow MMA fighter won't like it.One thing he sees is that she's got the look of someone who's been hurt an he wants to take that wounded look from her eyes. Reese is really attracted to Rowdy but she's damaged goods an she thinks she doesn't deserve to be happy. One day they are at the gym ,a loud noise goes off as Reese hears it she almost rolls into a ball. When Taylor tries to touch her it gets worse Rowdy walks in sees Reese losing it he walks into the room carefully approached Reese an pulls her into his at!s onto his lap.He talks softly to her when her brother Gabriel knows something is wrong but usually he's the only one who can touch her as she still shaking Rowdy picks her up an says he's taking her home. After being embarrassed she breaks down an tells Rowdy what happened in her past. He's so angry he wants to punch something but won't because it !ight scare her. There are so many twists and turns to this story will keep you riveted until the very last page and leave you begging for more.I love the way this amazing author brings the characters to life before your eyes and you can feel their emotions and their.have can hardly wait to see what's next by this multi talented author.
Sigh...D.M. Davis's Black Ops MMA series just keeps getting better. I was so impressed by Davis's storytelling that I bought the remaining books in the series before I even finish Book 1 in the lineup. Book 2, "Rowdy," is a bit grittier than the first as Gabriel's beautiful younger sister, Reese, battles her demons while connecting and finding love with fighter Cameron "Rowdy" Jenkins. Once again, I am in love with the way Davis creates amazing subplots for the individual characters without taking away from the developing romance between the main characters, and damn there's A LOT going on in this story. I honestly didn't think I could love Rowdy anymore than I did when he was introduced in Book 1, but I was sooooo very wrong. Cam is wealthy, super hot, has a huge heart and infinite patience, and Ree has far more strength than she believes she does. Such respect for Davis in making the choice to make Reese a fighter rather than a victim. Loved every friggin' word and have already cracked open Cap's story.
I couldn't help but love Gabriel in No Mercy, but Rowdy was the one that stole my heart away, and I just couldn't wait for him to get his so well deserved HEA, and this book gave me everything I needed.
Rowdy is a special book. It beautifully balances the dark and light, dealing with twisted and heart shattering subjects with such care and finesse, like holding a butterfly in your palm. It's so surprisingly deep with such emotionally developed characters - especially for the MMA romance genre, where cocky alphaholes tend to rein - while still managing to bring the steam and have a funny, light side. It's a great read, and I whole heartedly believe that anyone who picks it up will fall head over heals for Reese, Cam and their made family.
Rowdy is a MMA fighter who would do anything for those that he cares about despite the personal consequences it may inflict on him. He thought that he knew what love was and felt the pain when he chose to do the right thing. When his life is turned upside down Reese shows him that what he thought was love was nothing more than mirage.
Reese has endured a devastating past who doesn’t trust easily and allows very people close. Rowdy is her brother’s best friend, and not only does he make her feel safe, but he makes her powerful when she has always felt weak.
Rowdy and Reese take us on an emotional journey that will both break your heart and inspire you. The evolution of Reese’s characters was magical to watch and Rowdy was by her side every step of the way and there is no denying that they are so much stronger together than apart.
Are you looking for steam, emotion, and a totally amazing story in your next read? Well guess what, you DEFINITELY found it here in Rowdy. I could not help but falling for this guy in No Mercy, but man hearing his thoughts, I dare you not to love him.
Rowdy and Reese are just downright amazing and I loved everything about this story. It was serious, but with plenty of fun wit and emotional times included. I cannot recommend it enough and don't have enough words to tell you how I felt while reading it. You honestly cannot go wrong with this book, it has everything that you would want in your next romance read. I give it 5 HUGE STARS!!
PS: Thank you to DM Davis and Give Me Books PR for allowing me an advanced copy of the book to read and review honestly!
I fell in love with Cameron aka Rowdy in No Mercy. Wish there was more guys like him in real life.
The author weaves a heartfelt and steamy romance that has humor and heartbreak. Reese is a woman who has suffered a lot in her young life and suffers from PTSD as a result. Rowdy is one of the few people she allows to touch her.
This story tugged at my heartstrings as their love story unfolded. Both have their own demons though Reese’s is more cause for alarm. But they overcome many obstacles to obtain their HEA.
* I received this book as an ARC for an honest review.
What can I say but WOW! After reading Book 1- No Mercy, I was not prepared for this one. In the beginning I was like oh no it's going to happen again. I was wrong, but there was so many references to Frankie and the love they have for each other it made my suspicious mind wander. Reese and Rowdy have their fair share of challenges growing up. This is heartwarming and angsty all in one.
So many emotions, such a beautiful story. I absolutely loved Rowdy so so much, even though I had my fears of him being in love with Frankie, all my fears melted away seeing him with his true love. This story was heartachingly Beautiful, my heart broke for Reese and everthing she had been through but she is a fighter, and she fought through her trauma and came out the other side. This couple and their story was everything and more!
So Rowdy is definitely on the best book boyfriend list! He is just everything! The way he loves Reese is so tender, passionate, encouraging, and fierce! And Reese overcame so much and even though she had help, especially from Rowdy, she was a force! I loved their relationship. So yummy!!!
I enjoy the characters & the stories D.M. Davis writes. Didn't think I would care for the fighting the guys do but found I don't mind it. The guys are alpha males but still have a heart for others & are very caring which I like.
Rowdy and his Kitten story is one that grabs you from the beginning and keeps you holding on. Rowdy is a protective and very loving man with a lot of demons. Reese is a shy, scared woman with even more demons. Getting the demons out and being able to love each other fully is a bigger battle than Rowdy faces in the octagon! If you read No Mercy first you will fall even more in love with Gabriel in Rowdy also!
This is such a great series but the books really need to be read in order. Which is ok for me because I can't seem to get enough of the Black Ops MMA guys. Once I started the first book, I couldn't stop until I finished the series. I was obsessed with them. These professional fighters might be tough but once they fall, they fall fast and their gooey cinnamony side comes out.
What a beautifully emotionally charged book. With every new story this author excels!!! What an incredible heroine Reese is, I just adored her and her inner strength. Ohhh and the HEA was delicious.
**I'm friendly with the author but it hasn't biased my review. I flipping loved the story!**
Reviewed thru Kindle Unlimited...What a break your heart, make you mad, cry your eyes out, emotional love story that will leave your heart floundering that Reese could be so strong. Rowdy and Reese have that chance of a lifetime in being soul mates. But can they stand the test of confronting the monster that has Reese scared for her life? I loved this book!❤❤❤❤❤
If you read No Mercy, Book #1 in the Black Ops MMA Series, you met Cameron “Rowdy” Jenkins. Although, Rowdy can be a read as a stand-alone, I highly suggest reading No Mercy. Believe me it’s also amazing and you will find about 25 more reasons to love Rowdy- guaranteed.
Rowdy is a newly recruited MMA fighter who finds himself drawn to a fellow fighter, Gabriel’s sister- Reese. Rowdy is also best friends with Gabriel’s wife, Frankie. At the beginning of the story you might feel this is a love triangle, but Rowdy acknowledges early on that given the chance, he would of stepped up for Frankie, but Reese is all he can think about.
Reese has PTSD and has fought long and hard to gain control of her demons. Working as an assistant to the owner of a MMA gym gives her purpose. Reese has many triggers, but finds comfort in Rowdy’s touch and presence. And, with Rowdy’s guidance and encouragement the other fighters begin to find ways to help Reese with her triggers.
Rowdy turns to Reese when family tragedy strikes. While he processes the situation, he is also training for a huge fight that could propel his career.
Rowdy gives Reese hope that she can get past her issues and truly enjoy a relationship with him. Reese centers Rowdy, calms his darkness. She is the light to his darkness.
But, when Rowdy’s world is rocked by more family drama he starts to pull away from Reese because he needs time to process. Just as they cross that hurdle, Reese’s past comes barreling in. When her attempt at getting closure reveals an even darker secret, Reese wants to retreat. But, when she realizes that opening up to Rowdy about all her darkness, gives her the power and control back, her past starts to set her free.
Rowdy sets Reese free with his love and protectiveness. She learns how to embrace her life and owns her inner lion. His alpha side makes her melt and so will you because, holy hell, the man is hot AF and so is the way he treats Reese like a Queen. Their chemistry sets fire to the pages. And, the epilogue, gah, is everything.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 I absolutely love Rowdy and his heart. He is relentless and knows what he wants. His passion with everything in his life seeps though the pages.
Rowdy's torn between two women - one is the woman he has been there for all these months, as a friend, and more if she had ever let him, the other is Gabriel's innocent sister, Reese, the woman who really holds his interest. But it's when Frankie tells him herself that they both know she's not his ONE and to go after Reese that Rowdy finally realizes where his real interest lies. Now the question is, will Reese let him into her heart where he really wants? Or is she far too damaged to ever allow him past her defenses?
Rowdy was an emotional punch to the heart. What poor Reese had experienced in her lifetime was something I wouldn't wish upon even my worst enemy, but she survived and became all the stronger for it. She may have thought she was a mouse, but with Rowdy's presence and his love, she grew into the lion he had always seen her as. I knew Rowdy was someone special in the previous story, but I had no idea just how special until I read his own story. I liked Gabriel (Reese's brother) and Frankie's story, but I LOVED Rowdy and Reese's story. It's emotionally heartwrenching, it's sweet, and so damn sexy.
Rowdy is the second book in the Black Ops MMA series, and focuses on Cameron "Rowdy" Jenkins and Reese Stone. I LOVED Rowdy. I love how caring, protective, patient, and understanding Rowdy is. I think he is such a charming character, and the way that he cares for Reese shows a gentleness about him. He is unfailingly supportive of Reese, and he never once made her feel inferior or broken because of her past. He would willingly sacrifice what he believes is important so that he can be there for her.
Reese shows great growth through the story. In the beginning, she was shy, scared, and very self deprecating (she keeps referring to herself as damaged). Though she harbors a crush on Rowdy, she is hesitant to pursue anything because she doesn't know if he still loves Frankie and if he'll love someone with as much baggage as she has. But even as she feels hesitant to pursue this relationship, Reese still trusts Rowdy and this is a feeling she can't describe. Because of Rowdy, she can talk about her past and discuss her triggers with other people, she can open herself up to others and be there for them (instead of others always helping her out), and she begins to live a balanced life instead of one of fear and isolation.
The story is complex and includes so many layers. Rowdy's past and family only added to his characterization as an obedient but independent son, a wholesome and down to earth man (though he comes from money), and someone who's strong and dedicated enough to follow his passion. In contrast, Reese's family life couldn't be any more different, someone who comes from a broken and abusive family, living paycheck to paycheck but values her independence, and struggling to have some sense of normalcy. I love that the author addresses the Frankie/Rowdy storyline and makes the distinction between love/in love. This addresses Rowdy's past but opens up his future for someone new. What I liked most is how Rowdy is aware of Reese's past, and he actively plans and supports Reese in slowly working through her triggers and building her up as a strong woman. And even though he has always believed in her, in the end, Reese found her voice and strength when she is adamant about facing her past alone and then exposing all her secrets to Rowdy. This shows the great amount of trust she has in him and their relationship, and her growth as a person. I'm intrigued about the storyline with Captain and all the secrets that revolve around him in this book, and I can't wait to read his story!
There are some difficult issues that are addressed here, so beware of you have TW for sexual/child abuse, incest, violence.
Rowdy is the second book in the MMA Ops Series from D.M. Davis. Back when the first book came out – No Mercy – I fell hard for the characters in this world.
Well it finally arrived and it did not disappoint. You kind of have to read No Mercy to be able to jump into this one as Rowdy’s story is tightly intertwined with the second half of No Mercy and picks up right after that story ends. So let’s get right into it, shall we?
To start off, the first few chapters kind of gave me whiplash because it jumps a bit through the timeline and had me lost and confused as to where we were or what was happening. But after Rowdy’s close friend Frankie has her baby and the story settles into focusing on Rowdy and Reese it really just jumps right in. Rowdy is the focal MMA star in this story and he’s falling for Reese, the little sister of one of his fellow fighters and star Alpha from No Mercy, Gabriel.
In all the marketing I saw regarding the release of Rowdy, Davis warns you that this is not a love story, but a massacre. What I hadn’t properly prepared myself for was that she was going to massacre my emotions. SO many hardships happen in this story – but not in a way that you’re used to with romance novels. Usually the hardship centers around activity that pulls the characters away from each other in a way that they must find their way back. But Davis is a unique writer because she doesn’t utilize that form of drama to draw you in. She focuses on character depth of history and experience to really take you for a ride.
Rowdy finds himself in a situation where he loses someone close to him and finds out life altering news that will forever change the way he knows his own life. In contrast, Reese is working on trying to recover from a lifetime of sexual abuse that has left her broken and damaged. At least that’s how she sees it.
These two were perfectly paired for one another in so many ways. Both of their stories broke my heart, made my eyes water and continued to cement my love for this series. If you are interested in reading a series about Alpha males that love their women deeply and will do anything for them, but also don’t cause any heart break to them intentionally or ruthlessly, then you’ll love Rowdy and the other MMA stars in this gripping series.
Brief Synopsis: Rowdy is a successful MMA fighter who is attracted to Reese, the one woman he cannot have. Reese has overcome a lot in her life, she had a very traumatic childhood and is fighting PTSD. The only man that she trusts is her brother Gabriel, another MMA fighter and friend of Rowdy. Reese and Rowdy are instantly attracted to each other and she is not scared of Rowdy's touch like she is with everyone else. Rowdy is different, she craves him. Can they both overcome their doubts and pasts and be together?
Review: Ok....this book was a surprise for me. I have never read anything by this author and I went in with low expectations, but HOLY COW this book was good! I could not put it down and read it in one day. It is very fast paced, which I love. The whole book takes place in like a month, but it does not feel that quick. The author did a great job of moving things along when they needed to be and slowing them down with events needed that extra attention. This book does have a very dark theme...something happened in Reese's past with her dad and you find out what it is in the last 10%. The author does a fantastic job addressing the issue. I immediately fell in love with Rowdy and Reese. Rowdy has some issues throughout the book that he needs to work through, but he owns up to it. He knows that he is not perfect and that he does not deserve Reese, but he wants her and he will do whatever he can to protect her. Rowdy is the strong Alpha male that will do anything for his woman, and it is HOT! This book was H-O-T... HOT!! Reese is a hard character to read about, but the author does a brilliant job with her. You know instantly how she feels and what she is going through, she never hides or skates around it. She thinks that she is "broken or crazy" but she really isn't. Rowdy makes her see how strong she really is. The two grow with each others help and realize they make each other better. Sometimes you just need that one person to help you get through everything.
HEA: Yes OW/OM Drama: No Cheating: No Couple Separation: No
Ooohh, ROWDY! His story truly packs a punch – no pun intended, lol. It’s filled to the brim with emotions – the good, the bad, the ugly –, wicked good fighting scenes (MMA romance is my weakness), a plot with a twist the size of Mars that left me reeling, and two characters, both damaged in their own way, I couldn’t help but root for.
We met Rowdy in book one of the series, being a huge shoulder to lean on for Frankie. He was never really a side character for me. He is protective and caring, an alpha in the most delicious way, with a good pinch of cocky. Then there is Reese. A shy girl with a damaged soul and a PTSD that doesn’t allow people to touch her, except very few people. And, to her own surprise, Rowdy is one of them. Something about him makes her feel a safety around him she hasn’t felt in ages.
Together, they make sense, and progress in their respective healing that wouldn’t have been possible without the other. Their mutual respect, support and devotion for one another lighted up the pages beautifully.
While this story deals with abuse, it was done so respectfully and with care. It was also funny, though, for me, at times overly cheeky (hello, Cocky), which makes for a good balance.
Technically, these books can stand alone, though I really recommend reading them in order, since the foundation of especially the next character’s storyline will be laid in the previous book. This time, it was an utter bombshell that was dropped, which has me craving Cap’s book like yesterday, OMG!!
I got to meet Rowdy in No Mercy and was taken with his gentle soul outside the ring but in it? Anger could be seen shining through. I had the fortune of reading this as part of a Hidden Gems ARC so I was able to go straight from No Mercy to Rowdy without delay. You definitely need to read these in order... and be prepared for difficult subject matters... if abuse is a trigger for you, then this is probably not the series for you. If you like Alpha men brought to their knees for the women they love? Rowdy is for you. He thought he wanted Frankie but couldn't have her... then he met Gabriel's sister, Reese. He was immediately drawn to her. She is battling serious demons from the abuse by her father... the extent to which she never let anyone know. Rowdy sees something in her... a strength she didn't know she had and slowly but surely he breaks down her walls... he's the one she's not afraid of. Will their pasts and secrets revealed ruin all they built? Or will they pull together and find their HEA? As with No Mercy, once I started reading I didn't want to put the book down. There's a lot of heart and soul to this story and while there was plenty of darkness and times that brought me to tears, there were moments of light and hope that made it all worthwhile...Definitely for the 18+ audience, and no, you do not need to be a fan of MMA fighting to be drawn to this series.
Oh my gosh! My emotions are frayed and my heart is still sitting in my Hine! What a spectacular read and one that is on my to reread shelf! I met this character in the first book of the series No Mercy and be still my beating heart then! This read was a rough one for me, NO IT IS NOT a BAD read, quite the OPPOSITE! It is one of those reads that yanks you into it and does NOT let go! First I must congratulate Miss Davis as she is not only a spectacular author but she happens to get to the heart of her characters and brings them to life in such a way that she leaves us the reader in a situation that tear our hearts asunder and make us crave for more! This book was so MUCH and then SO MUCH MORE! It brings me to the this; I am so out of myself right now writing this review that I have to say I ran the gamut of emotions and I am still reeling from it. It makes my lady bits tingle in all the good ways and it breaks my heart while ripping my soul from me and replacing it with one that I no longer know! Not very many authors have the ability to do what D.M. has done; for this I want to thank her! As for this series it is one of the best with a lot of intriguing aspects that will draw you in. Once it has its claws in you WILL WANT MORE! You will fall in love with Rowdy and Reese! I wish I could give it more than 5 stars as it is so worthy of them. Get this series!
Rowdy was an amazing friend to Frankie and Gabriel in No Mercy (book 1). He was definitely a character who intrigued me...boy, did he thrill me in this book! Please, please read No Mercy before reading Rowdy. The journey Rowdy, Frankie, Gabriel and the other fighters have been through is needed to fully understand the importance and emotions of some of the relationships - especially Rowdy and Gabriel & Frankie.
In No Mercy there was a darker element to a good portion of the story so I really wasn’t sure what to expect in this book, especially with the background given for Gabriel, Reese’s big brother. I knew going in that Reese and Gabriel’s father abused his wife and kids, and that he looked at Reese inappropriately. While the story does address past abuse, it’s not a dark read. This book focuses on not just surviving the past, but working through it to thrive. Rowdy and Reese both work through emotional issues and their love story is one of overcoming obstacles. It’s a really emotional story, and one that is so worth reading.
The author has created an amazing family with the characters that surround the Black Ops Gym, and I’m really interested to read Cap’s story next.
I received an ARC from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
