Crash Into Me (Crescent Bay Book 1) Kindle Edition
For one entire and blissful night, I'm not Megan the widow. I'm Megan out having a drink with her best friend. I'm Megan, getting hit on by a hot, younger guy. I said no, but everything inside of me said yes.
I was still grieving and healing the loss of my husband Sam. Getting my life back to some kind of normal. Until it got complicated. Very, very complicated. Because that hot young guy, Liam, who wasn't even supposed to be on my radar? He came crashing in with this weird electric pulse between us and a chemistry that's off the charts. If that wasn't complicated enough, Liam is a student in my creative writing class with enough complications of his own.
The words in Liam's poems remind me of Sam's. He says things that are too familiar. Knows things about me no one else knows. It's like seeing a ghost. I wasn't supposed to fall for him. But my happily ever after is gone, and Liam's arms feel like home.
When everything starts to make sense, and the pieces come together in the end, am I actually in love with Liam? Or the memory of Sam?

About the author

Alyne Hart is a contemporary romance author living in the mountains of Eastern Washington. She's known for writing stories that pack an emotional punch and get you right in the feels.
She loves writing very real and deeply flawed characters and writing about honest, gritty, and raw romance. She's a romance junkie and happy endings addict, and if you’re a lover of deeply emotional reads with lots of delicious angst, her books are for you. Alyne's stories involve characters with bigger problems than just finding love. She writes stories about making peace with the past, rekindling old flames, and healing old wounds. She loves small towns, men in uniform, and alpha males with a heart of gold.
She began her story-telling journey first with her dolls, then it progressed to paper. She has a deep love for anything romantic, and she's a believer that in love anything is possible.
When Alyne isn’t writing, you can find her reading, hiking, hanging out with her cat, and spending time with her two children. She enjoys trips to the lake just as much as trips to the wine cellar, live music, chick flick movie marathons, and hanging out with her eclectic group of friends.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 13, 2022This is a book filled with grief, despair, darkness, acceptance, forgiveness, passion and a lot of love. There is a self-harm trigger warning.
Megan is beginning to come out of the devastating loss of her husband about a year and a half ago. Normal isn’t something she knows anymore she’s just going for making it through the day. Deciding to take up a friend on a night out she runs into a young man that is very interested in her. She thinks he’s too young but his interest is flattering and scary all at the same time. While she rebuffs him her brain likes him and she finds herself thinking of him more than she feels she should.
Sam is battling demons of his own, but when he first sees Megan, he is immediately drawn to her. So, while she said no initially, he did give her his number and he hopes she decides to feel brave enough to use it.
The two of them are drawn to each other and when they find themselves meeting up in an unlikely place it feels like the universe is saying yes to them. Megan is feeling a sense of déjà vu with Sam as he seems to know things about her only her deceased husband Liam would know.
Megan is very resistant and keeps throwing the age difference out as a reason they shouldn’t be together, but persistent Sam breaks through all of her barriers.
This is a gut-wrenching story that will have you reaching for the tissues a few times. There is passion, friendships, overbearing family, mystery and lots of love. You will also have to decide if you believe in reincarnation or spirit travel as a lot of that is interspersed within the story as you learn about Megan, Sam and Liam.
I received an ARC and I am leaving a voluntary review.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 16, 2020This is the story of Megan and Liam. And Sam. Now that I’ve got your attention, here we go.
Megan is a widow but she’s not your average romance book widow who feels endless guilt about the prospect of moving on from her loved one. She had complicated emotions. Very complicated emotions. Super complicated emotions and they all feel justified and that made it easy to root for her. This is always an issue for me with heroines that are widows and I think this author did a great job of showing the real depth of the loss felt, which made Megan’s emotions understandable…even when I didn’t want to be understanding.
And Liam. Well Liam is yummy and young, which starts off as one of those non-problem problems that we’ve all done a time or two. I loved Liam, he was the Pacey of book boyfriends here. Kind and patient and sweet, but naughty and commanding when she needed it.
I loved the unique twist of this story, it felt supernatural but not quite. Just one of those bursts of magic that happens in humanity and it made Crash Into Me an even better story for that quirk.
The journey of Megan and Liam was everything it should be. It sweet and hot, maddening and sad at times. And there was a healthy doze of Grey’s Anatomy references thrown in to make me smile.
Crash Into Me was simply wonderful.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 20, 2022Megan is 36 and a professor at a small college in the coastal town of Crescent Bay. Suffering for the past year at the loss of her husband, Sam, her best friend, Gemma, makes her go out with her to a nightclub bar where she is approached by a devilishly handsome young man. Flattered, she still declines but gives him her phone to enter number. The next week she enters her class to teach and is stunned to find Liam in the front row with a smile. Avoiding him until class ends he persists. Few weeks later she decides to call him. She has been missing sex and talking to her friends they have encouraged her to go for it. A gentle friendship with strong chemical attraction begins until they can't stand anymore and the hot stuff begins and it does get scorchingly hot. Although she is 36 and Liam 24 he is a mature man and himself suffering from the loss of his twin brother and the loss of his pro ball career after a terrible accident. There are connections between Megan and Liam which are unexplained but drive them closer. Elements of the paranormal and or reincarnation or soul migration make this mystical sometimes but basically this is a good love story and worth reading. Received this arc and have voluntarily reviewed.
