Sunshine & Whiskey Kindle Edition

Sometimes the best things in life come from the unexpected. So if you lower your expectations, then you’ll never be disappointed. Sound cheesy? It is, but it's also true. Clichés come from a grain of truth…like a man with a Porsche is compensating for something, or once a cheater always a cheater—you get the idea. Sorry, I digress. I'm supposed to be telling you what this book is about.

I'm Megan Walker, a lawyer at one of the hottest boutique law firms in Atlanta. I'm on the fast track to making partner and have my entire life planned out...or I did.
We all know how that goes, right? Best laid plans and all that.
Life just threw me a couple curveballs, so I've set out to take things into my own hands. By throwing caution to the wind and getting out of my A-type personality bubble, I'm learning more about myself than I have in my twenty-seven years.
Sound like a chick flick, doesn't it?
It’s not.

I went to law school at American University, Washington College of Law, but only after I fell in love with D.C. I worked in the Senate during the impeachment trial and wanted to stay. After law school I worked for a bit in the area, then moved to Atlanta. If you ask anyone who knows me they know I love reading and read all sorts of books. Any free time I have I'm either reading, writing or drinking with friends.

Full content visible, double tap to read brief content.

R.L. Griffin published her first book in 2004. After that she focused on practicing law. A few years ago she began writing the By A Thread series, which is out now. Her goal is to keep readers on their toes, whether it's the plot twist or the book itself, her books are outside any box. There is a little bit of grit in most of her books and a ton of cussing. Most books are enjoyed better with a glass of wine, or whiskey, whatever your poison may be.

She lives in Atlanta with her husband, kid and dog. She loves to travel and meeting readers.

This author, what can i say she does amazing things to me with her writing. The first book i ever read of hers Razorblade Kisses broke me. This one Sunshine & Whiskey it invigorated me, made me laugh and made you see the sunshine through the clouds and made you feel alive. So this review is not going to go through the story as why do that - you need to read this book that is all that needs to be said. But i will tell you how the book made me feel.

I was reading this on the way back from a epic book trip to London with some new friends. And you know what it made me laugh so hard i got funny looks on the train, it made me appreciate my friends who know me and how when life throws you major douche bag lemons (you know who you are) you do not make lemonade you use those lemons as a mixer in your fave drink. This book showed me life is never straight forward and all we think it is. But there are those defining moments that show you how to be strong when your egyptian cotton sheets are ruined and how to be super awesome and walk with your head high. I loved the female lead she works hard, plays hard and has moments of doubt but she puts each foot in front of the other and carries on her unusual journey. Also she drinks whiskey which is one of my fave drinks lol. This book may sound like a self help book it is not it is funny, has romance and sadness and a journey for the characters. It just is most refreshing read and unlike books i have read for a long time, it made me think. It is most certainly on my best book of the year list and it is only April. R.L. Griffin you are amazing love your writing it always consumes me and my emotions.

How funny is Megan, her dialogues had me chuckling.
I'd had this for an age on my Kindle, and thought I;d best get my arse into gear and read it, also because R L Griffin is attending a signing in the UK in the summer. GUTTED! I waited so long.

Absolutely loved how Megan dealt with finding her scum bag boyfriend - now ex! with his secretary, and although she handed it really well, she was slowly loosing her mind!

Just loved her sister Cali, the sisters were so different, but they got on so well.
Her parents were an odd ball of a couple, Megan had a way with words when describing them. her BiL Jack, was a great chap, lucky sister.

Oh my the best friend, Laura they got on so well, just like you would want to get along with a bestie.

I really enjoyed meeting the fells'a Megan met along the way on the road trip with Laura, the escapades they got caught up on, loved Vegas, I actually stayed in the Wynn although I don't recall finding someone like Meat! It was a trip of self discovery although that's not why they went on it, she had had a life changing event happen, and needed to get out of town, so a Road trip across America was just the ticket.

Justin, her work colleague, was a fab guy had her best interest in the fore front of their friendship - they had such great fun banter.

It seemed that Megan was having trouble getting over the one who got away, and bumping into him after a few years re-sparked her feelings, only for her to accept the reasons, and moving on. Although it was not quite as plain sailing as that! She really learned a lot about herself.

Loved California when she meets the Magical Walker, I got all the 'feels' they were fab together, loved how they sparked off each other both trying to deny the pull.

Ooh the smexy sexy scenes, ahh sizzling hot!

It will be great to catch up with Megan and Walker and to see how the others are getting on when we get the next installment of the series.

Saw a recommendation for this book on Facebook and thought, after reading the synopsis, that it looked good so oneclicked it. Oh I am so so glad I did. I laughed so many times out loud, i am sure my other half thinks I have some form of Tourette. Fish tacos and Ham sammiches are awe inspiring comebacks! Loved that banter between Meg and Lo and oh to have a 'magic' like Meg ...oneclick this ridiculously good book. You won't be disappointed x

I do like it when authors change it up and write something a little different and that's exactly what Sunshine & Whiskey is for RL Griffin. From the brilliance of Razorblade Kisses she has returned with a lighthearted read which is both witty and entertaining.

After witnessing her boyfriend in a compromising position, Megan knows that she needs saving from herself and leaving town couldn't have happened at a better time. Leaving Chad, her family and her job behind, Megan heads out for a road trip of a lifetime with her BFF Laura and doesn't look back. Plotting and planning their journey to the places they have always wanted to visit, they set off with the aim of enjoying being young, free and single. Some of the scenes told throughout the story will make you laugh out loud but some will also bring a tear to yours eyes.

This was a great read which was sweet, funny and riveting. I struggled to get into it initially but once it grabbed me it wouldn't let go. I did find some of the comical scenes a bit irrelevant and didn’t really fit into the story, other than for an added bit of humour, but they didn’t detract from my enjoyment of the story. I loved that Megan found her HEA but it wasn't with the person I thought she may end up with.

5.0 out of 5 stars Put whatever you are currently reading on hold and read this IMMEDIATLEY!

First, I’m going to do something I've never done in a review before; I’m going to tell you exactly how to set the mood before you begin to read this one. Get your favorite blanket, your favorite booze and make sure you have blocked out some alone time, because I want you to truly appreciate this book in its full, fun, funny and 'I am woman hear me roar then watch me flail' brilliance. I was given this book as an arc from the publisher with little to no explanation as to what to expect, oh except for a very interesting tidbit about a used vibrator and...well...never mind I don't want to ruin that part for you. But lets just say I've never seen someone dish out Karma on a cheating boyfriend quite this hilariously before. This book took me by COMPLETE surprise, obviously since as I said I had no idea what to expect, but even so I love a good surprise. The story, the dialogue, the literal journey of two best friends had me so enthralled and excited I constantly found myself texting my BFF saying things like; "OMG we would so do this" or "Dude you realize Megan & Laura are us right?" And I have a feeling we won't be the only readers with these same thoughts because it is truly relatable , which I found extremely refreshing. This author's writing is so amazing that you feel like you are on a road trip right along with your two besties; playing, laughing, and squeamishly enjoying every moment of it. Most of all I loved discovering Megan right along with Megan; her true hopes and what she really wants out of her life, what it would take to truly make her happy. AND for those of you wondering; "Yea but, are there any men in this book?" Don't pretend you weren't all thinking it, don't worry...you will definitely get your men! And you will have a fun time trying to figure out who your favorite is (I will say I have a soft spot for Meat...just FYI.) Bottom line, READ THIS BOOK! I can not recommend it highly enough. You will laugh, you will cry (only because you are laughing so hard) and you will end up with a moment that makes you want to go out and just do something that makes you undeniably happy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best book i've read in a long time.....highly recommended!!

well.....i just finished this book at 1am this morning. Lordy, what a great read!! This is like a modern day version of Thelma and Louise - i don't like to make comparisons, but the characters themselves compare their story to the movie, so i'm going to agree with them! This book is witty, hilarious-laugh-out-loud-funny, thought provoking and sexy. Megan and Lo are best friends.....a crazy set of circumstances leads them to embark on a road trip from Atlanta to California, and there are some fun and crazy times along the way! I loved the deep friendship between the two women, it reminded me so much of how some of my close friends and i get along, and can be totally ourselves with each other, without judgement, and with all the love and support from them. The book is very well written, and i thoroughly enjoyed it. Fabulous happy ending. Look forward to reading more from this Author. (This book can be read as a stand alone, but it seems there will be follow on books with the same characters coming later in the year). Highly recommended!!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Hilarious Ride!
Reviewed in the United States on 22 April 2015
RL is known for writing books that touch your heart. This is a new style of book for her and she did a phenomenal job! Sunshine and Whiskey touches your heart but mainly in the form of laughter. It's not only hilarious and jaw dropping...it's a trip riddled with crazy antics and true friendships. It's a must read ...if you want to pee your pants from laughing so hard!

True friendship pours from this book. A road trip in general can get on anyone's nerves, so you have to be able to pick the right person to join you on an extended road trip. That's what happens when Megan enrolled Laura for her "extended trip" of a lifetime. The trip is all about experiences...the good, the bad and the hilarious!

There are some specific items that will never be the same for me after this book: waffles, hot dog buns, funerals and especially yoga! I laughed so hard at times that my side literally hurt.

So, take a trip with these lovely ladies. You won't be disappointed. There are some very explicit situations and language so beware "Your mother may hate it!" according to RL Griffin!

    Thanks for a great ride!

If you like your romances hilarious and original, you need to READ THIS BOOK. SO GOOD. SO FUNNY.

I double dog dare you not to ache from the belly laughs, swoon from the romance and cheer for Megan and her bestie Laura as they travel cross country. Both are leaving traumatic situations in the rearview mirror and setting a course toward new possibilities. The journey is a perfectly written story about friendship, forgiveness, and the world's best road trip!

I cannot wait to read the next installment. Thank you to the author for the most entertaining surprise of 2015!

This was a fantastic summer read. It had humor, a bit of angst, and a whole lot of sex.
Megan and Laura set off on a cross country road trip after a life changing event. Along the way they find hot guys #MaleModels #Meat, and the fun is just beginning.
Great friends, great story, great fun.
Ms. Griffin has another hit on her hands !
