Outside a glittering party, I saw a man in the dark. I didn’t know then that he was an assassin. A hit man. A mercenary. Ronan radiated danger and beauty. Mercy and mystery.
I wanted him, but I was already promised to another man. Ronan might be the one who murdered him. But two warring families want my blood. I don’t know where to turn.
In a mad world of luxury and secrets, he’s the only one I can trust.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 12 August 2021I got to the end of this book and thought holy **** I don’t usually like books that end on a cliff hanger but all three books are available so I decided to give this one due consideration given it’s a book by M. o’Keefe (a truly outstanding author). It’s a heart wrenching novel. It made me smile, made me cry and at the end I was left on the edge of my seat. It’s late, but I HAVE to start reading the next one now. How it only has 4 stars I don’t know. I’d give it 6 stars out of five. The only way to make it better would have been to add in some dual POV.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 21 April 2024Ruined is the first book in the Dark Hearts series which is set in the Midnight Dynasty World. I struggled to get into the story to begin with but it soon became hard to put down. There are so many twists and turns to the story that I don't know who to trust or who is telling the truth. All I know is that I'm starting on book 2 straight away.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 21 December 2022What an ending. I think we all secretly want a man like Ronan I know that I do LOL. Wish this book was a dual point of view so we could have more ideas of what he is thinking.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 28 January 2023I got frustrated with the lack of clarity in this book there's tension through mystery then there's this convoluted plot where we get no further forward and pi$$ed off with all characters involved. I wasn't intrigued I was annoyed and felt like no light was at the end of the tunnel with this one.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 June 2021The book was very racy and detailed. I read some excerpts to my husband and before we knew it, we had a ruined theme night! I have now ordered the next one in the series and can’t wait for my husband and I to read together!

Heartbreaking, suspenseful and angsty. Slow burn at its best. Kept me on edge basically throughout the whole book. Mystery, secrets, questioning if people we know really are those we think they are…
Poppy had her piece of hurt, pain mistreat that could last for a few lifetimes. She sacrifices so much in a loveless marriage full of abuse, where she existed but didn’t really live her life. The only times I could see her alive was with Ronan… who is still a massive unknown… intriguing, dangerous.
When I started listening to it, I’d many questions. At the end I had them even more, and still no answers to previous ones. The unknown and suspense simply can only be filled by the next installment in the series.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 12 February 2021I couldnt put this book down! Ronan and Poppy are a very hot couple and you jjst go through the wringer of emotions of Poppys story

With this book, M. O’Keefe delivered two tragically broken characters full of secrets, surrounded by intricate mysteries. This is the first book in the trilogy and what a great way for us to immerse in the Midnight Dynasty world.
Kit Swann is incredible as Poppy, bringing all her innocent but also strength and awakening to life.

5.0 out of 5 stars So Aptly Titled Ruined Because It Will Wreck You
Oh my goooddddddd seriously, this series!!! I won’t say just this book because I’ve read all three and I have to say it’s no wonder the first one is called Ruined because that’s what it does. Freaking wrecks you inside and then goes further and wrecks you for all other books. The book hangover after this one was intense. I started it to cure myself of an Amelia Wilde/Leo Morelli book hangover and wow. Just wow. I just lost like 6 hours of my life in a good way reading these. Couldn’t put them down. So much love.

Stolen Hearts is the first book in the Hearts Trilogy, which is part of the Midnight Dynasty universe, where we will get to meet again the Constantine and Morelli families.
This series tells the story of Ronan, a man hired by Coraline Constantine, and Poppy, which is a kind of niece to Coraline, but not by blood but through family friendship.
Poppy and Ronan first met at a Constantine party right on the night that Poppy's marriage was announced.
The plot is following Poppy's life and also Ronan is following her, even though there is not much from his point of view, the story being told only from Poppy's POV. She finds herself in a predicament after her husband's death, and is hard for her to escape her thoughts and learning's from her toxic marriage and even harder to trust people and even herself, but there were glimpses of how strong she can be, but in the end she is just a pawn in the bigger world of Constantine's. This is my feeling, but don't have any clue at the moment which might be the end story. But it's interesting and kept me connected and wanting more.
This book ends on a cliffhanger, so I can't wait to read the second book, because to be sincere I am drawn to Poppy's and Ronan story and interaction. Ronan appears as a calculated and cold guy, and I can't wait to get to know him better and see how he will take care of Poppy. And Coraline, I might start to hate her, I mean I already don't like her too much, she seems as a scheming woman, but I shall see what's her role in the whole story plot, I might end up to like her again.

5.0 out of 5 stars An amazing romantic suspense novel
An amazing Romantic Suspense novel
20 year old Poppy is married off to a
Man much older than herself in order to financially support her sister with mental health issues. On the night of her Engagement she meets a man (a morally grey man) and with just a conversation he ignites something inside her. 2 years pass .... you’ll have to read it to find out what happens!
Warning it does end on a cliff hanger - but don’t worry book 2 is already out!
Trigger Warnings: domestic abuse, suicide, murder and mental health issues

4.0 out of 5 stars Full of mysteries.
This was my first book from this author, and I liked it. Definitely gonna check out more of her work.
My dear and sweet Poppy, she must be protected at all costs. She is an amazing person, good, kind, loyal and strong, so strong. My hear broke for her, and all I wanted was to hug her and give her all the strength she needs.
After the death of her father, she has the unpleasant surprise to find out he left her and her sister in a great dept and with zero money. She is forced to leave school, and get a job in order to pay for her sister’s therapy and also to try and fix all the problems her father left her with.
She is forced to marry a men 28 years older then her, a cruel, manipulating and violent man.
But even after all that hits that life throw at her, after all that hurt, violence and tears, she still survived.
After two years of living hell, surviving a marriage straight from the underworld, her horrible husband who spend every second trying to clip her wings, she is now finally free.
I admired her for her strength, her love towards her sister and all the sacrifices she was willing to do in order that her sister would be cared for. Poppy has a beautiful and kind soul, and now she is slowly learning how to live again. How to believe in herself and fight for what she wants.
Ronan, the dark, dangerous, tall and mysterious avenging angel. He screams danger and trouble through all his being, yet Poppy is not afraid.
He is her secret protector, always keeping a safe distance from her, but in at the time she needed him the most, he was there. To protect her from all the monsters in her live, to help her get the control back.
“An angel kicked out of heaven for the trouble he caused.”
He is mysterious, with a dark and troubled past, but that is all we know about him. I have so many questions about this character, and I hope that the second book will shed some light.
I already had a profound antipathy towards Caroline Constantine, but with this book my hatred towards her reached new limits. That woman is horrible and so self centered, it is almost nauseating. She had all the power and the financial means to help Poppy and her sister, but she did nothing in that manner. She just used Poppy as a tool, “selling” her to the greatest bidder. That woman needs to have some sense smacked into her.
The cliffhanger left me speechless and with a lot of unanswered questions. I did not expected that ending, and now I’m looking forward to the next book. I really hope that the second book will provide the answers to all my questions and make it all a bit more clear.
