Angels Fall (Original Sin Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 658 ratings

Sometimes angels fall.

Maddie doesn't really owe drug lord, Carlos Castillo, money. So she hadn't taken his threats seriously. Until now. He wants it, whether she owes it or not. And if she doesn't have it in six weeks he's gonna take her as payment instead.

Tyler would save the world if he could. That's a fight that lasts forever. And if there's one thing he's good at, it's fighting. So if Maddie thinks she's gonna deal with an insane drug lord on her own, she's crazier than he is.

She's got a debt she can't pay. He's got more money than he needs.
She's not gonna fall for his charm. He's gonna make sure that happens.

They're destined to be together. Even if Maddie doesn't know it yet.
Sometimes your soul mate isn't who you'd choose, it's who you need.

Good thing you don't get to choose.

Great second book on this duo’s literal skills. Tyler is so funny and of this planet. Maddie remains a magnet for team trouble. This duo just go from lushes romance, to fall out, to emotional exhaustion, to an incredible journey of tears, laughter and sorrow. We meet new characters, despicable bullies, and true hero’s within this novel. It starts immediately where the last series ended and rushes along at warp speed. An excellent plot full of surprises, home truths , reconciliation and suspense. Only a short wait till the third book.

I absolutely love Tyler! His bizarre sense of humour, his quirky outlook on life, and the fact that he loves Maddie and really does try his hardest to respect her wishes even if she doesn't see it that way.

The funny one-liners and sarcastic retorts that Tyler just can't keep to himself.  The Angel/Devil arguments that Maddie has with herself. The inner monologues that send both of them into fazed out moments where the world ceases around them.  All of these are brought about by the genius writing team of Huss and McClain, and that's just the tip of the story iceberg.

This book had me all over the place, emotionally speaking.  Maddie is still in debt to Carlos and has Logan breathing down her neck.  Tyler, with the help of some friends - old and new, finally becomes what Maddie needs.  There are a few happy surprises along the way and the pair are finally finding some clarity in their lives.  You know when you get to that stage in a book when everything is going right and you think..."ok, story can end now, all is good"...but no, the writer/s just keep on going. There is that defining moment for me in this book, and guess what?  Yep, the writers just kept on going!

No spoilers but if you get as involved with the characters as much as I do, not just the main ones but all the side characters that make the stories come to life, then I would suggest that you have some tissues at the ready.

Book 2 in this series and it is only getting better! With book 2 we are given more of a back story for Maddie and after reading it, it made me not want to shake some sense into her as much. I kinda get it with her now.

Tyler is just as cheeky as he was in book 1 and totally still as lovable. They seem to set their pace with eachother and come to terms themselves about what they can do for eachother.

And of course the ending leaves us screaming for the next book to see what kinda revenge Maddie can get. Really looking forward to book 3!

Angels Fall is book 2 of a 4 book series that should be read in order. So if you haven't read Sin With Me, get on it!
Maddie and Tyler are still just as messed up as in book one, still broken and trying to figure a way forward.
There's laughter, and sadness, and the rambling thoughts of Tyler, and self doubt of Maddie. And the ending? I need the next book now!

*Gifted and copy in exchange for an honest review* Angels Fall, book 2 in The Original Sin series is another rollercoaster ride. Maddie is still desperately trying to pull her life together but with Carlos And his creepy henchman Logan determined to make life for Maddie as difficult as possible. Tyler however is determined to make Maddie see he will be there for her in any way she wants no matter what. Maddie’s parents make an unexpected arrival with some hilarious discoveries. Some hilariously funny moments along with some sad and distressing scenes but also lots of sexy scenes to keep us on our toes. This story just gets better and better.

I absolutely loved book 1 and book 2 did not disappoint. I love where they have taken these characters and I love that they have built such a complex story about them as I am no where near ready to give them up yet!!

More Huss McClain goodness. I can't say much about this book without spoilers seeing as how it's book two in a four part series. What I will say is this - fantastic writing and a story I can't wait to read more of. I love this partnership.
Thank goodness they are releasing three weeks apart.
    Bring on book three!

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the story, the characters, and this writing duo!
Reviewed in the United States on 28 March 2018
Angels Fall is the second book in the Original Sin series by JA Huss and Johnathan McClain. We come back to Maddie and Tyler’s story immediately after Sin With Me ends. Both characters are struggling with their past actions that internally translate to personal fails. In my opinion, they aren’t fails but actions that humans take to protect others then continually second-guess the decision for one reason or another.

With Angels Fall, Huss and McClain continue to tell a terrific story of growth, seduction, romance, suspense, mystery, love, and friendship. The characters are so compelling with personalities that jump off the page. Both characters are searching for ways to make wrongs right while learning to admit their individual mistakes. I love it!

Tyler is gradually dealing with his PTSD and love for Maddie. There are some very touching moments especially when he runs into someone from the past. I love how he grows enough to look at what Maddie needs before his own. Let me say that Evan and Robert are two of my favorite ancillary characters. They step up every time that Tyler needs a friend. I love these two to death.

Maddie is in so much pain. In Angels Fall we learn a little more about why she suffers so much after Scotty’s death. It breaks my heart when she shares with Tyler. I feel both her Tyler’s sorrow and loss more than I expected. I love this character so much. She acts out of control sometimes and doesn’t think through some decisions, but underneath it all, she is reliable, loving, and compelling. Like Tyler, there is a huge heart that wins more often than not. I love her fight and strength that gets stronger as the story progresses.

I love bad guys who are so bad that there isn’t any option but to hate them. Huss and McClain do an excellent job bringing out the worse of the bad guy elements in Carlos and make him a super evil man that I hate. I am sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for him to get his comeuppance. I hope Logan is included in that punishment too.

As I write this review, I want you to know how much Tyler and Maddie’s story touches my heart. Angels Fall continues this tremendously moving series. The story runs the gamut from funny to painfully emotional, and that ending made me break down and cry. Julie and Johnathan are an excellent writing team. It is apparent that they get each other and develop the characters appropriately to complement the talents of both authors.

Angels Fall ends with a killer cliffhanger. Have no fear, the story picks up again in three weeks with Flesh Into Fire—that title gives me a moment of panic. Anyone can deal with cliffhangers for three weeks especially when the promise of more goodness is right around the corner. Huss/McClain well done; another must read—like ASAP. Come on April 17th.

3.0 out of 5 stars I needed more

Following the path and recipe of the first installment, Angels Fall took me onto a bumpy redemption and acceptance journey. It was, at turn, raw, fun, sad, sweet, but mostly infuriating.
The slow paced storyline had me skimming over whole paragraphs at times. There were scenes I couldn't care less about.
On the bright side, I love how mature Tyler is, and the respectful and loving friendship between the male characters.
The ending, of course, made me want to know more, so I'll just give it a try and see if I like the outcome!

4.0 out of 5 stars Tyler & Maddie
Reviewed in Australia on 5 June 2023
“Finally, after the price is paid, and the fire that drives us all forward is extinguished, we finally get to rest.”

These two are so messed up, but the story isn’t a heavy one full of poor me. Again, inner monologue is a huge part of these books and it works. Banter and witty commentary from both is entertaining.

I love Tyler’s character, as he’s slowly waking up to the world around him again with Maddie. Finding the balance between support and racing in and fixing things for her remains difficult for him.

More depth and backstory this time, ending with a mini-cliffhanger.
