After sitting next to him on a flight to Delhi eight years ago, I didn’t think I’d ever see the tall, green-eyed gorgeous stranger again.

Except in my dreams.

We’ve traveled very different roads over the past eight years and carry a lot of baggage.
We’re both fueled by guilt. My guilt adheres me to marry the man my orthodox Indian parents choose. His guilt has him running from relationships, let alone marriage.

Hold on to your hats, my reader friends, because there's a new writer on the romance scene, and her terrific debut novel is well worth the read. Her voice is seasoned and compelling, and this first offering has more polish and shine than some traditionally published books I’ve read recently.

Avni Ray was only sixteen when she met Clark Cooper on a flight to India. Eight years later those vibrant green eyes and honeyed voice are a vivid memory, so she thinks she surely must be dreaming when she encounters them again at her new job.

It's clear to Clark that the new marketing director is top notch, but there's something about her that gives him a sense of déjà vu. As much as he's attracted to her, there are plenty of reasons to keep his distance. Although she doesn’t report directly to him, he's her boss. And then there's the fact that he doesn’t do relationships, and she's clearly the relationship type.

There's always a big unknown when trying a new author, but this gamble paid off in spades. I love the glimpse into the culture and traditions of an Indian family, and these characters captivated me from the beginning. Their story is sweet and humorous with a big side of steam, but also layered, complex and so full of heart. I loved every minute of their journey to forever.

If you love second chances with a bit of a taboo romance then you'll love Avni and Clark's story. And if you enjoy finding a new indie author with a promising career you can follow from book to book then grab your copy of this one and start reading today!

===========================================================
RATING: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
STEAM: 🔥🔥🔥
KILIG: 😍😍😍
===========================================================
WHAT WORKED:
- Second-chance romance is one of my favorite tropes and I'm so glad it delivered on the angst. The tension emanating between the two when they try to fight off their feelings for each other is so good.
- The author’s writing style and the way she described the scene are so vivid and immersive.
- The over-protectiveness of the heroine’s parents is so relatable (to me). Though my parents are not matchmakers. 😂
- Shows the positive (values, food, tradition, etc..) and negative (racism) side of the Indian-American culture.
- The grovel that the hero went through gotta take some balls to do.
- The internal conflict of the heroine is something new to me.
- Heroine's best friend is an interesting character and would love to see a book about her.

WHAT DIDN’T WORK:
- Hero insisted that he don’t do relationships but changed his mind after just one night of passion. It's a bit unrealistic for my taste. I think it would make the book more interesting to see if it took a little longer for him to realize how the heroine ruined his lifestyle choice.
- I would have wanted to see more of the heroine's internal battle while contemplating forgiving the hero.

Kismet in the Sky is an splendid debut novel. Swati’s writing is good and will have you immersed in these two’s forbidden yet destined love in no time.

I loved how the culture was so woven into the story and plotline. It was amazing to read about it. Our main character was so fun, I loved getting to know her, her family and her traditions. Her past was emotional and still carried guilt over it. Guilt she had to let go of in order to be happy.

Our hero made nerdy sexy! I really enjoyed getting to know him too; what he had been through and how he had gotten where he was. He was a pretty great guy. I loved seeing his reaction to our heroine. They shared an instant connection since the moment they met and then again years later when they found each other again. These two were meant to be in each other’s lives and I loved seeing how they worked for that to be possible.

The forbidden part of their story was so fun to read. The tension. The staring across the room. The stolen touches. The I want you but I can’t have you vibes. It was all so great! I really enjoyed this story and this couple. If you love forbidden, office romances make sure you check this one out!

A slice of Indian life

One of my favourite things about this book were the glimpses into Avni’s family and culture. The author weaved the two cultures together just as I suspect those who are both Indian and American must do every day. An excellent read.

When Avni started her new job in Northern California after moving away from her right-knit Indian family in San Diego, she knew it was exactly the fresh start she needed. What Avni didn’t expect was her new boss being the handsome stranger she met on a flight to India 8-years earlier. The same man she’s crushed on ever since—Clark Cooper.

Clark isn’t one to settle down but when he meets Avni, he’s instantly attracted to her and can see a future with her, even if that goes against everything in his nature. Avni isn’t looking for a fling and doesn’t want to complicate her work-life, so she’s hesitant to start something with Clark. But eventually, neither of them can deny the unmistakable chemistry between them.

Kismet in the Sky is Swati MH’s debut novel. This definitely didn’t feel like a debut so I was surprised to discover that it was. I love how this focuses a lot of Avni’s culture and family! I also love a good office romance. I do feel like the timeline of this romance was a little quick once Clark and Avni reconnect. I don’t think it’s realistic that Avni crushed on a guy she met when she was 16-years old for 8-years straight. That part seemed pretty far-fetched. The conflict was minimal, which made this a lower-stakes romance. All-in-all I enjoyed this one but it was far from a perfect read for me. 3/5 stars.

I love diversity in romance books. This is my first story that has an Indian FMC... and I loved it. Swati's debut novel will hook you. This book is an introduction to Indian culture and it is amazing. So many stories hint at other cultures but Americanize the story to the point that you forget that there is even culture there... this is SO not the case here. I enjoyed learning about the life of an woman living in two cultures and how she navigated it so flawlessly. It wasn't always easy but it was fascinating.

This story is one about 2 people who met by chance but fate brought them together to make each other whole again. Clark and Avni were such an unlikely couple when the book began but when kismet interfered they were everything. The angst was never too much and the steam was just perfect. If I wasn't married... I'd want my own Clark.

Fantastic debut from this author. Can't wait to learn more about this world!

What a debut novel! This is a must read romance. I can't express my love for this book enough. It filled my romance loving needs but it also taught me. I learned so much about another culture. And I could relate to some aspects myself. Especially being a California girl myself. This is the story of Avni and Clark who meet when Avni is younger and then later when Clark is her boss. Who is up for some forbidden office romance? But it's so much more than that. This is a story about all the emotions ones heart can take. You will be consumed by this story. And even surprised at some points. I know I am still thinking about it. And if you are looking for a romance with steamy scenes, you have come to the right book! Get ready for a steamy wild ride. I can't wait for more from this author.

Swati is a new author for me, and this is actually her 𝐝𝐞𝐛𝐮𝐭 book if I remember correctly. It's definitely not bad for a debut book at all. 𝘐 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘵 𝘴𝘰 𝘮𝘶𝘤𝘩! Clark and Avni chemistry was 𝐀𝐌𝐀𝐙𝐈𝐍𝐆!! It's a fated, interracial (Indian/White), office romance. It was definitely refreshing to read a book on the Indian culture. ⁣

Clark had a past that I'm going to keep my mouth shut and won't spoil it. 😅 He's the no relationship kind of guy. Avni had an accident that changed her family forever. She's the oldest daughter so no matter what she does, she doesn't want to let her parents down. She and Clark met on a flight to India. 8 years later, Avni got hired at Review AI. Clark happened to be the co-founder of the company. It was definitely 𝘬𝘪𝘴𝘮𝘦𝘵. 😏 ⁣

It was definitely a 𝘴𝘭𝘰𝘸 𝘣𝘶𝘳𝘯, but when they couldn't resist each other anymore, it was 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐞!! I 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 of Clark and Avni!! Can't wait to read more of Swati's books though!! ⁣

Kismet in the Sky is a beautifully told second chance, slightly forbidden romance. Avni and Clark strike up a conversation on an airplane when she is just a teenager. For the next eight years, Avni fantasizes about the tall, green eyed man that she met that day. Much to her surprise, they meet again when she accepts a new job and he is one of her bosses. They've both experienced a lot of heartache over the past eight years and because of that, their work relationship, and Avni's family's beliefs, she doesn't think that they can entertain a relationship. Neither Avni nor Clark can deny their chemistry though. Are they meant to be together? Is it Kismet?

Kismet in the Sky is Author Swati MH's debut novel and it is very well written. The Author does an excellent job of portraying the values and beliefs of Avni's Indian culture while showing how true love can overcome these differences. I enjoyed this book and I look forward to reading more from this Author in the future.

A lovely debut novel from a new voice in multicultural romance and storytelling. Have you ever wonder how many times you may have passed by your romantic partner in the years before you met? Can you imagine not knowing you met your soulmate on an international flight when you are only 16? The steamy hotness doesn't come till both are consenting adults that bump into each other when Avni starts to work for the stranger she shared a flight with years ago. In a romance novel we turn a blind eye to the "yeah, right" we would say out loud in real life. Because we believe in love and fate and destiny and finding our lover on a plane.
MY Favorite part is the way baggage is used literally and figuratively throughout the novel. Swati also does an amazing job of fully submersing you into the sights, sounds, tastes, and feelings of the life and world surrounding the couple. A love story for the new millennium.

Kismet in the Sky is a beautiful romance book. It's the author's debut novel, and I was surprised at how good it was! I loved the slightly forbidden romance of it. From the very first start, the story drew me in. I also liked the cross-cultural aspects of the book and mixing Indian culture in Adult romance. The second chance romance between Avni and Clark was fluffy, sweet, and steamy! Obsessed with the title. I look forward to reading more of the author's works.

I loved Clark and Avni! The chemistry was so perfect between them both. After reconnecting by fate from meeting each other eight years ago, it’s all history from there. Though, they both have to overcome some obstacles, it’s still such a feel good story!

Oh, and did I mention how much I loved Clark!?

*I received this ARC in exchange for a sincere review*

I am very happy to have had the opportunity to read this book that introduced us to Avni and Clark.
The way they both know each other is very loving. She is still a student and he is already part of the world of work. They meet on a plane trip towards India. Her home country and his vacation destination. During the trip Avni can't help always looking at him and being attracted to him. He, friendly and cordial, talks to her practically the whole trip, but only at the end of the trip do both present themselves as they should be.
Eight years later and he still populates the mind of Avni, now a young woman looking for a job to match her studies, since she specialized in Marketing. She was fortunate that her fate intersected with Clark again. However, they did not cross under normal conditions. He is just one of her bosses at the new company where she will start working and as soon as she sees him she knows that her life will never be the same. He, in turn, does not recognize her from the trip he made eight years ago, but he knows and feels that they have already crossed paths before.
So, it was not surprising at all, that the two felt that empathy and attraction for each other.
However, she carries with her a great deal of pain and a great sense of guilt for something that happened in the past and that took one of the most dear and important people to her. We have a cheerful Avni most of the time, but dark and emotionally punished at other times and when we least expect it.
Clark, for his part, does not have an easy past either. Somewhere along the way someone once broke his heart without any chance of reparation. He is a kind, humorous, intelligent man with a good head. However, as much as he likes Avni and feels that she could be such, he continues to behave like someone who will never settle and love someone to the fullest.
There is much more I could say about this book, but what really stuck with me was the way the author writes and presents this story to us. Light, simple, with hints of humor and attractive dialogues. I also really liked Avni's family figures. The way they always protected and always acted in her best interest, despite the stubbornness in which she should marry someone of the same ethnicity as them. For them, only the men, women and customs of India were worth.
Now, taking into account that Clark is not at all an Indian man, it will take a lot of courage on his part to go against all the beliefs of her family, that's all I thought about whenever I remembered the aversion that the parents they had to American men.
I really liked this couple and could tell a lot more things but I can only say that I strongly recommend reading this story that shows us that fate has several ways to surprise us and help to remake or to come to peace with the past and its traumas.

I would never have known that Kismet in the Sky is Swati MH’s debut novel!! It is beautifully written, engaging and I fell in love with this book right away. It was sweet, sexy and at times had me on the edge of my seat as Anvi navigated her love life with expectations of traditional Indian parents. Plus, I thoroughly enjoyed the culture of her family that had immigrated from India to the US.

The book starts on a plane trip to India. Avni and her family are traveling to see family in India for a wedding. It’s here that she meets Clark who is sitting across the aisle from her that she starts a conversation with. It also doesn’t hurt that he is gorgeous with green eyes that captivate her. She learns that Clark and his best friend are on their way to visit India and Anvi is quick to share what places she loves to go to for him and his friend to visit. She also finds out that he is a bit older than her, but it doesn’t really matter because they will probably never see each other again. Even though they go their own ways it doesn’t keep Anvi from dreaming about Clark.

But what are the chances that fate would step in? It’s 8 years later and Anvi has just accepted a job offer from Clark’s business partner. Little does she realize that the mysterious Clark is the same person she met years ago. Now preparing to move away from her family. Moving will prove to be another challenge that she had to hurtle with her family. Finding a place to live and a roommate kind of fell into her lap. Not only that but it’s close to work too. But what happens when Anvi realizes that the Clark is one of her bosses? The only thing is that Clark can’t remember how he knows her!! But will the ensuing game of cat-n-mouse help to jog Clark’s memory.

Yet, who would’ve thought that this happenstance meeting would bring these two together again? Not only that but finding out that they both still carried a torch for each other from years earlier. With smokin hot chemistry it takes no time for the passion to burn up the sheets!! Ultimately there were still obstacles that stood in way. For one, Avni’s dad was trying to match her up with an Indian boy, which was the custom of Indian parents. When she already had her eyes on Clark. Secondly, they both had failed relationships and issues to work through.

With all of these things working against them, would Anvi and Clark find the pathway to their HEA?

This was such a breathe of fresh air! I mean I went into this blindly and I absolutely loved it! Avni and Clark were so adorable together!! I fell for both of them from the beginning. The cute meet on the plane to the first day on the job, they were just fun and you felt their connection instantly. For a first time author, I normally would be able to pick out mistakes and give advice to make things better but for this author and her book, I can't really say anything. It was obvious that she knew what she was doing and had good people surrounding her helping her along the way. The story flowed, the characters were well developed, smart, understanding and a delight. I mean sure you had certain moments that was expected like meeting the parents and a screw up but they were handled so well. This book was very well put together with characters you will absolutely love!! Anvi's family is hilarious. Her parents are the typical Indian parents, they want the best for their kids and they want their husbands to be Indian. She appeases them with them but also takes the steps for them to accept Clark. She also finds out a little secret about them in the process. I loved how protective they were and how despite the tragedy that happen, they move on and still keep the family together. Yes things are different and Anvi holds a lot of guilt but she learns to move on from it. Anvi has so much respect for her family and what they want for her but sometimes you have to stand up for what you want. Clark has made a name for himself as well. Him and his buddy Taylor have built up two successful companies with so much room for more. He been hurt before and kinda standoffish to dating. Seeing Anvi that first day makes him think otherwise. I will say I loved how the author changed certain things about romance in this book. Two examples..One..the guy didn't come with the girl at the same time which I found refreshing and two it wasn't them meeting and declaring their love for each other within seconds of meeting, which was also nice. These two work together but yet he gives her the space to make her own name in the company. It was nice to see him so nice and professional and not a total douchebag...Yes he has a sexy and sweet side but it's only there in private moment. As I mentioned before , I absolutely loved this book and can't wait to read more from this author!!!

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for my unbiased review.

Swati M.H. paints a vivid picture of grief and familial obligation while weaving in a story of just following one’s heart. Avni and Clark are seated next to each other quite by accident on a lengthy flight - they chat each other up and then go their separate ways. Eight years later fate brings that back together...at work! Clark is now Avni's boss and while Avni has a family that expect her to follow their lead when it comes to relationships and Clark has no interest in a serious relationship they are inexplicably drawn towards each other. They can't stay away and so their forbidden workplace romance unfolds.

One of my favorite parts of the narrative were her descriptions – of clothes, of smells, of sights and sounds. She really puts you in the story - I found myself sitting in loud a bar or imagined myself at a table in the same restaurant or sharing a cup of chai.

I really enjoyed reading a story about a girl who in some ways was like me. Avni picks up and moves away from her family to take a job in a different city. In some immigrant families that is unheard of – you stay close to home until you get married and then you can move away (maybe). The hard fought independence is something I think a lot of people will connect with – the struggle to find yourself – your path – your voice.

Reading this book was a bit of a departure for me – especially this year. I’ve purposefully stayed away from anything that made me feel too much heartache. I’ve pretty much stayed the course of reading things that help me escape a very difficult year. However I’m really glad I read this book because it took me back – to that young girl I once was who was uncertain – who was just trying to make life decisions. I could see growth in myself through the eyes of Avni and that was pretty cool. I very much look forward to seeing what else Swati has to offer because I’m certain she has more stories to tell.

Kismet in the Sky is @swati.mh debut novel and it is PHENOMENAL!!!

•Kismet• ‘when you encounter something by chance that seems like it was meant to be, then it could be your kismet, your destiny’

What’s the quote? If people are meant to be in each other’s lives, they’ll find their way back to each other. They may take detours but are never lost.

This book was a beautiful, emotional ride from the beginning! Avni and Clark were two of the most interesting and lovable MCs!

Avni, our lovely h, is a fun and thriving young professional! Unfortunately, a family tragedy keeps her guilt ridden on a daily basis. Enter Clark, our sexy nerd of an H, who is the ENTIRE package. Clark is chasing his own demons after a failed relationship keeps him from trusting in people. Who knew a chance encounter would enchant these two for years to come? Their chemistry was incredible. Not only their physical attraction, but their emotional connection was palpable! This was a story of healing, re-connection, and learning to love again.

One of my favorite parts of this book was the weaving of Avni’s culture in every part of the story. From the smells to the characters, I could envision every part of the picture Swati painted!

I definitely recommend picking this book up! A fun, captivating story of two people who found their way back to one another at the most appropriate time! It’s all Kismet💙💙

Coming from a culture rich in tradition, I was able to walk a short mile in Anvi’s shoes. Although my experience was nothing like hers, I was able to FEEL what she went through. Torn between love and obligation, Swati told a story that was compelling, raw, authentic and full of love.

It’s hard to write a multicultural love story, let alone give it justice. That’s why not a lot of authors do it, but Swati navigated this theme effortlessly and respectfully.

This well written novel will make you cry, but above all, it will help you understand that beyond our differences lies a chain that binds us together. LOVE!

In this love story, we read about Anvi and Clark who happen to meet on an airplane and hit it off. Years later, Anvi finds herself working with Clark and does all she can to put some distance between them. But it's a love story, right? Of course, that doesn't last.
I have to say my favorite part of the book was Anvi (as much as Clark made me swoon). The chapters that are written from her point of view have me laughing out loud. She's sweet yet fiery, and I couldn't get enough.
Such an amazing debut author for Swati M.H., and I'm excited to see what she puts out next!

This book took me by surprise. It starts with a chance meeting, and ends with a beautiful love story. There are layers of personal growth that both the hero and heroine have to come to terms with within themselves before they can fully love. It's a beautiful journey. When Avni’s first chance encounter with Clark as a young teenager on a plane left her entranced with his eyes, and she vowed that she would remember them always. Would she ever see him again? Clark and American traveling to India gets some unexpected insight on the culture and best tourist attractions to visit from said teenager. A flight destined by fate or just coincidence, who knows. What becomes of these two? I thoroughly enjoyed this cute story and will definitely be reading it more than once!

I really enjoyed Kismet in the Sky! It’s cute, fun, refreshing and I couldn’t put it down until I got to the end. The author brings out the characters so vividly that I felt like I was right there watching it all. Clark is dreamy and Avani is gorgeous! A match made in heaven!
