Like the fact that I portray myself as a simple florist, living a mundane life. Which is a far stretch from reality.
My family is rock god royalty. My father, an 80’s icon, and my siblings all celebrities in their own right. Then there’s me, Lyric Griffin, hiding in plain sight, trying to be everything I’m not.
Along comes Eddie, someone I find myself completely attracted to. I’m simply Lyric to him, not a princess of rock. He’s gorgeous, a little cocky, and knows what he wants—me.
But I made a mistake. I trusted him, and he betrayed me. Is Eddie nothing but a hotshot deceiver?
The thing about secrets, they always come out in the end.
From international bestselling author K E Osborn comes Hotshot Deceiver – a novel, based on Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward’s Cocky Bastard. Featuring Eddie, with guest appearances from Pixy, Chance, and Aubrey the characters you all know and love.

She's entirely at home when writing sassy heroines and alpha males that rise from the ashes of their pasts.
K E Osborn comforts herself with tea and Netflix, after all, who doesn't love a good binge?
Hotshot Deceiver was a story that hooked me from the very first page. I quickly fell for the characters and loved their story, happily devouring it in a single sitting.
The characters were great together, there was plenty of humour to enjoy, and I loved watching the way things developed. There was more to it than appears at first, ensuring the details keep you coming back for more. Each thing hooked me deeper, and I could not put it down.
Without a doubt, this is a great addition to the Cocky Hero Club.
I loved Lyric and Eddies story. I loved how would do anything to be around her and when everything is revealed he will do anything to keep her!! My favorite of this set!!
Honestly I was kind of bored with this book and I didn’t really connect with the characters. Lyric was kind of a brat and had these mood swings when Eric didn’t do exactly what she wanted. Then you have Eric who just didn’t make any sort of impression on me as a reader. He was fine but I’m pretty sure I’ll forget everything about this book by the morning. Oh and both these characters had major daddy issues. Also, I’m not sure if it’s just me but I felt that the pacing was kind of weird.
Hotshot Deceiver is is part of the Cocky Hero Club which is inspired by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward's Cocky Bastard series. This one is inspired by Cocky Bastard. You don't have to have the Cocky Bastard to enjoy this one. Lyric is a fun down to earth girl. She runs a florist store. Her Dad is a famous a musician and her mom is his manager so growing up she isn't feel that they were around enough. She has a great voice but wants nothing to do with being a famous musician. She meets Eddie, who she calls hotshot. He has a good job but doesn't give a much details up front. Eddie is a nice guy but he has a lot of secrets. I liked these together. When he's secrets come out, I was worried that that would be the end of Lyric and Eddie.
Lyric Griffin is such a cutie I totally loved her. She just wanted a normal life away from her famous family. She loves flowers and opened her shop to continue her dream. When Lyric and Eddie meet the sparks fly and it's so cute. These two have passion and I could easily feel them fall in love. However things change when Eddie betrays Lyric or so she thinks. When Lyric's family get's involved it tells a whole other story. I loved reading on the back story of Lyric and her family it make more sense and brought flare to the story. But let's not forget about Eddie and his family who I could of throat punch. LOL Read about these two and if forgiveness can ever happen. And if they can find love.
This was my favorite this go round in the releases! KE Osborn gave Lyric and Eddie's story just the right combination of sexy, swoony and angsty. Let me just say that Eddie does an excellent grovel!
You know what I liked best about this story? The realism. Everyone has secrets. Everyone has things they don’t openly share and/or talk about. That’s just part of life. The key is to know when keeping those secrets could destroy something better than keeping those secrets would give you. Well, that was wordy! LOL Bottom line, in life, deciding who you share things with is always a gamble and always comes with consequences. Not sharing does the same. Two sides of the same coin. Our hero has a big secret. It’s a secret that exploded this story and I have to say this to the author … well done! Everything that led up to the unveiling of his secret was perfectly plotted and everything that happened after the unveiling was perfectly layered and unfolded to a glorious HEA!
This story was just great you guys! It had a perfect mix of humor and angst. It was anticipatory and held my attention from the very beginning. I really liked that the story was told first in Lyric’s POV and then it turned to Eddie’s POV. At first I was thinking why not just go back and forth from the beginning but once I started reading and figuring things out slowly it hit me … excellent choice.
Out of all the Cocky Hero Club books I've read so far, this is one of my favorites. Lyric really wants nothing to do with her family's "rockstar" lifestyle. Being the daughter of a rock and roll God just isn't for her. She's been hurt in the past and just wants to keep to herself away from the spotlight. Eddie comes along and bam.............she falls for him. Only he's not who he says he is and when she finds out, you know it's gonna hit the fan. I loved the way Eddie knows he messed this up and the lengths he's willing to go to in order to win Lyric back. I also loved the fact that Lyric didn't give in easily and made him work for it!! The whole book was emotions all over the place and I loved every single page. When her father comes along to help Eddie out, will she listen to them or will she still walk away? And even though Jase, Eddie's best friend, was kind of a jerk, he endeared himself to me by helping Eddie do whatever he needed to do to win her back. So now I need his story!! If I could give this more than 5 stars, I would. Pick it up for yourself and see.
A Goat, a Parrot, a Puppy and a Sexy lier .. If that doesn’t make you smile then neither will this review. Seriously Eddie and Lyric are a perfect match with his straight lace way about him and her funny quirkier way about her BUT you can sense they are both hiding something and boy what a deceiver it is for both of them. BUT both there reasons is FAMILY which means everything to both of them.
It was love a first site and tingle at first touch for both Eddie and Lyri with a little goat names Pixy that brought them together. The answer is once Lyric learns about Eddie’s deceit can she ever TRUST him again ?? He hurt her pretty good .. They say though .. LOVE can conquer ALL .. I am NOT so sure this time.
Like I said earlier .. you would do anything for FAMILY !! The dynamics between these two is off the charts funny and loving at the same time !!
I hope we get a Jase and Paisley book !! Wink wink ....
Lyric was raised in a family of musicians and the one thing that it taught her is that she doesn’t want that lifestyle. She is content managing her flower shop and knowing that the people she surrounds herself with want her for who she is and not what she can do for them.
From the moment that Eddie enters her flower shop they are drawn to each other in spite of themselves. As the chemistry between them ignites so do the feelings between them but when Eddie’s secrets are revealed will they be destined for happy ever after or heartbreak?
This story found a great balance between humor and emotion. It was fun watching the relationship unfold between Lyric and Eddie and the secondary characters add another layer to the story.
I am a HUGE fan of both KE Osborn and the Cocky Hero Club stories, this is a bit different than the majority of books that I have read by the author, but I REALLY enjoyed it. It had a bit of a slow start and as a reader you can tell and almost cringe knowing that there is a secret and it is going to be a doozy for both Lyric and Eddie. All in all, Hotshot Deceiver is about deceit and what lengths you will go to make up for it, I dug it and give it 4.5 outta 5 stars!
PS: Thank you to KE Osborn, Cocky Hero Club, and Give Me Books PR for allowing me an advanced copy of the book to read and review honestly!
This was a pretty good book. While I didn’t really feel the connection between Lyric and Eddie in the first part of the book, that changed a bit in the second part. It really picked up and I enjoyed the second half much more.
I wasn’t really expecting the situation in which Eddie was being deceitful. I enjoyed the things Eddie was doing to try and win Lyric back. He was being really sweet and very determined.
Enjoyed seeing them find their happily ever after.
This was a lovely read that I pretty much inhaled in one sitting.
Lyric is a fabulous character. She wants to stay away from the lifestyle her family leads. Instead she owns a flower shop which she loves. Eric comes into her shop to buy some flowers... it’s about to change everything.
This is a heartfelt story with plenty of feels. Really liked it.
This is the 2nd book I’ve read in the Cocky Hero Club book world. It was as amazing as the other one. One of the things I like is I don’t feel like I’m missing something from the other previous characters.
Lyric grew up with her parents being in one of the most famous rock band. Lyric was home pretty much taking care of his siblings and the household. Now her siblings are following in her parents footsteps. Lyric has a beautiful voice but has no desire to be in the limelight. Instead she owns a florist and she’s perfectly happy in her quiet, quirky life.
Lyric wasn’t planning on meeting anybody. But when Eddie shows up the day after Valentine’s Day everything changed. She was instantly attracted to him. Eddie offered to go with her to return Pixy the goat she found the day before and afterwards the decided to get together again.
They’re chemistry is explosive and their banter is easy. Lyric hasn’t met any of Eddie’s friends or family, she’s never gone to his house or know much but that doesn’t stop them from getting pretty serious pretty fast.
One thing she really likes about Eddie is he knows she can sing and who her family is and there’s no pressure. He takes her for who she wants to be. Or so Lyric thought.
When Lyric finds out Eddie’s real name and finds out who his dad is and exactly what his job is Lyric looses it and rightfully so!!!
Eddie knew who Lyric was the minute he heard her name. He also knew from all the time he spent talking to her dad in the past she wants nothing to do with the music business. That was why Eddie felt he couldn’t tell her everything.
Eddie always planned on telling Lyric the 100% truth of how him and Chance know each other and just exactly the truth about him. But, Eddie can never seem to find the right time. Too bad the choice was made for him and it was made for him before he got to tell her himself and not is she mad.
Eddie will do whatever he has to in order to get Lyric back. Eddie’s best friend Jase comes up with the perfect plan he’s dubbed the “Lyric Revival” Lmao and there’s steps to it. Eddie’s so desperate to get Lyric back he’ll do anything. So when that doesn’t seem to do it Eddie calls for backup.
Omg this book was everything!!! Lyric really was such a great girl. Lyric knew what she wanted in her life and what she didn’t want and she wasn’t afraid to say it.
Eddie Eddie Eddie.... I’m in love with him!! I couldn’t believe he lied at first but when I got his POV and really got into his head I completely understood why he wanted Lyric to know him for him before what his job/family were. I don’t think she’d give him a chance if she knew honestly.
Eddie doing whatever he had too in order to get Lyric back was amazing. Seeing him making sure Polly and Mike were good had me smiling. He’s legit the perfect guy.
I gotta admit my favorite secondary character in this story was Polly Parton!! Every single time he opened his mouth I was lol and wishing I had a parrot with a mouth like that hahaha.
I am dying for Jace and Paisley to finally get a HEA. I’m not sure if KE Osborn could do it but you better believe I’m gunna be keeping my eyes open to see if their story pops up in this world from another author.
Hotshot deceiver was another standalone romance in the Cocky Hero club romance world. It was a contemporary, second-chance based novel by K.E. Osborn.
I am absolutely loving these Cocky hero club novels. They all are plain and unique in their own way. In this story we meet Lyric and Eddie.
Lyric is a down-to-earth earth ,who manages her own flower shop. Her parents are sort of absentee in her life so she is used to managing stuff by her own. One day she meets this handsome stranger , who she calls hotshot. This stranger is none other than our main male lead - Eddie.
Both of them sort of click together in the start and embark on a journey full of love, friendship and passion.
Eddie is a nice guy , and a very hot one too. The only negative thing is that he has a lot of secrets!! And when those secrets come out, things pretty much blow up. Lyric is devastated and feels betrayed. Eddie tries his best to console her , but sometimes the betrayal is too big to ignore. That time I was really scared of whether that would be the end of this lovely couple. They , however seemed to sort of the problems between them and try to get their the long due HEA. Hotshot Deceiver is a plain, contemporary romance based on the second-chance and forgiveness theme. I would like to recommend this to all the contemporary romance lovers.
Phew! Fanning myself here because Eddie is one very ‘hot as all get out’ guy. Yep, he’s mine, just sayin’. 😆
The two lead characters are both fabulous and extremely likeable even though, yes, Eddie of course stuffs up. I have to say that Lyric’s inner strength, her determination and drive are admirable and her great sense of humour as well as her self-honesty all create such a well rounded character-what’s not to like? Eddie... well yes, as I have said, is one gorgeous hunk in a suit, swoon! But he certainly is a lot more. He has high morals, a terrific sense of loyalty and is romantic to boot. Their chemistry is so hot it almost burns up the pages but it’s their easy camaraderie that is so much fun.
Special mention must go to Pixy who is his natural gorgeous self, he is a cutie and the Polly Parton. Oh, without spoiling anything let me just say you are in for a treat meeting this little sparkler with his colourful language. 😉
There is a serious issue and it represents many other or any other issue for anyone else. It’s a big part of the story and yet it doesn’t overwhelm the storyline. The lighter humorous element comes to the fore and works incredibly well and the reason for the extra half a star, I thoroughly enjoyed the chuckles and outright laughter from some of the hilarious scenes and terrific expressions in the story. Throw in the fun banter between the characters and it deserves the extra praise.
This is a great romantic comedy where the humour is natural and the romance is passionate and steamy. I recommend it to everyone.
KE Osborn has brought her brilliance to the Cocky Hero World, and it's not one to be missed. Be prepared for lots of laughs, a few tears and plenty of frustration. Lyric and Eddie's story would have to be one of the best in the Cocky Hero Club.
Lyric is such a quirky, whimsical woman, a bohemian at heart ... I loved her. The daughter of a rock god, she has made the decision that a life in her family's spotlight is not for her. Instead, she's happy running her florist shop with her BFF Paisley. She's been burnt in the past by a man she loved, so she's very careful when it comes to giving her trust. Then along comes Eddie. This man is sexy, hot and hiding a huge secret ... not that it is known at the time. He completely sweeps Lyric off her feet ... even though they liked to play 'hard-to-get' games. I loved how they just slowly built up their relationship ... until disaster occurs.
Kym split her book into two parts. The first being told from Lyric's POV, which was a really great insight into how her past affected her decisions and how she copes with it all in her present. Through tears and laughter, Kym is able to show every emotion and thought that Lyric experiences. The second part being told from Eddie's POV. I'm so please that Kym wrote it this way, as it was really vital to see the many steps Eddie took in his efforts to repair the damage he did to their relationship.
I loved the antics of Pixie, the goat. I really, really want a goat like Pixie. Polly the parrot was hilarious. I swear that parrot knew exactly what was going on, always able to say the right thing at the right time. The oyster scene had me laughing out loud (getting me strange looks from the husband). I fell in love with Eddie's best friend Jase and Paisley, I'd really love to see a book starring the two of them, especially after that last scene!
This was such a wonderful read and shouldn't be missed.

I have loved diving into the Cocky Hero world with glimpses of old character favorites as secondary characters in all-new stories. It feels like my favorite characters are never going away and at the same time, I get to find new characters to love. However, this story? Yeah, this story is so much more than I expected. It had me from the very beginning. Considering that the story started with Valentine's Day at a floral shop, and considering I am a floral designer and know VERY well how insane that holiday is, I had to laugh.
Moving on to the introduction to Pixie and I about lost my mind at the cuteness. Love that goat. What really sold me though was watching Lyric and Eddie and their relationship. I felt her fears and I felt why Eddie would be drawn to her. The first part of the story was told in Lyric's point of view and the second part was told in Eddie's. Initially, I prefer alternating if that is going to be done but, in this case, seeing the second part of the story was INTEGRAL to the story. When Eddie goes all in to make things right for what he has done, it was game over. That man won me over. He is one of the swooniest book boyfriends that I have ever read.
I hope with everything that this author continues this series and gives the secondary characters their stories as well. Jace made up for his screw-up in an epic way, and the scene at the end with Paisley, Yeah, I need more of that. Soren also intrigued me. I highly recommend this book.
I loved how this story was written. The first half is in Lyric’s point-of-view. Lyric has a passion for flowers and owns a successful flower shop. The rest of her family is in the music industry. Growing up with parents that were always touring and never home had a huge impact on Lyric. She always craved normalcy in her life. But on this Valentine’s day, she is feeling lonely. In a mad rush to get flowers for the shop, she picks up a crazy stow-away but what is even more unusual is the sexy man walking up to her shop that recognizes the stow-away. Eddie is entranced by Lyric so when the opportunity presents itself to go on a road trip to return the stow-away, he jumps at the chance. These two balance each other perfectly. I love how Lyric just says whatever she is thinking. Oftentimes, she says something that she believes she only thought in her head which makes for some hilarious moments. But just as these two are getting serious, the other shoe drops and Eddie’s secrets are revealed. For Lyric, this is the ultimate betrayal. Now, can Eddie redeem himself and convince Lyric to trust him again? The road to forgiveness is never easy and I love everything Eddie does to try and win Lyric back. Will it work? You have to read to find out and enjoy the ride! I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
4.75 stars This is one intriguing read from beginning to end. Lyric is a woman who grew up in a house of music royalty. As her parents were absent and constantly on tour with their band, she was responsible for raising her two siblings. This led her to want nothing to do with her family’s lifestyle. Adding insult to injury, she fell for the lead singer of a rock band and it did not go well which only increased her desire to stay out of the limelight. Getting as far away from her family as one can, she purchased a flower shop. Eddie is the sexy male that shows up at Lyric’s flower shop and the sparks between them are explosive. The more time they spend together, the more Lyric falls for him. However, he is keeping a huge secret from Lyric and when the truth comes out, she is going to blow a gasket. Will Eddie be able to win back Lyric’s trust? This is one highly enjoyable storyline and a welcome addition to the Cocky Hero Club collection of books. It is a look at the lengths a man will go to for the woman he loves. It is an emotional roller coaster and the animals included thoroughly enhance the storyline. The writing style is witty and flows well although, at times, it took some warming up to Lyric as she appeared to be all over the place. Overall, readers will not be able to help becoming invested in this story. I volunteered to read a copy of this book.
Lyric Griffin's family are all in the music business with her father an 80s icon and her siblings all in their own successful music careers - all except her who is hiding in plain sight as a talented florist. Then along comes Eddie to buy flowers - he's gorgeous if a little cocky and she is completely attracted to him as is he to her. But when a secret of his raises it's ugly head she feels betrayed and stupid. - maybe she fell for a hotshot deceiver? Because as we all know, whilst we might always have secrets they always come out in the end.
This was a really sweet love story set around the worlds that both Eddie and Lyric live within. It was a great lesson in the effect that secrets can have on a relationship and how they will always come out at the most inopportune way and completely the wrong time. It was heartwarming to read the underlying love story between the two characters and to do it at different parts in the story from the point of view of just based on one of them and then based on just the other. Definitely something to pull at the emotions and give you goosebumps as it was so easy to become completely invested in their relationship. Well written it was very easy to read and understand. Does contain some sexual content.
"You, me, and a fainting goat? What could possibly go wrong?"
If you like romance with just the right amount of comedy then you will love Hotshot Deceiver. Cause I sure did. Let me introduce you to Lyric slightly eccentric boho themed beauty; her father is a rock god and her brother and sister have followed in their fathers footsteps. But Lyric never wanted that life instead she is happy owning her flower shop and keeping out of the limelight.
Then Eddie enters her life by accident to buy some flowers for his mom - but Eddie is hiding something from Lyric and the closer they get the bigger the lie is becoming - but all secrets get found out and for Lyric it means heartbreak at the hands of the man she has nicknamed Hotshot.
Eddie needs a plan to get Lyric his Hummingbird back but is his plan big enough and bold enough to allow him back to the only place that feels like home.
You will fall in love with Polly Parton what a Parrot what a potty mouth (yep Polly is a boy) and I so hope Paisley and Jesse get there story - wait to you read what Jesse has to do to help Eddie in his quest to win Lyric back - I laughed so hard!
What a great addition to the Cocky Hero Club Series. I love visiting this world, I love the cameo appearances of previous characters I have fallen in love with but more importantly I’m loving these new characters we are meeting as we delve further into the world of the Cocky Hero’s and their new romances. Lyric Griffin’s family are music royalty but music is the last thing on this ladies mind, flowers and bouquets are what floats this woman’s boat and her florist shop is her hideaway. There is an instant attraction when Eddie comes in to buy flowers and it seems romance is in the air but Eddie is not who he seems and when Lyric finds out who he really is she feels betrayed and stupid so she runs back to her hideaway and try’s to put the man behind her..... This book has it all, I laughed, I smiled and I swooned as I found myself hoping this couple got the HEA they so deserved. Hotshot Deceiver is the perfect title for this hot, steamy, funny romantic comedy and I highly recommend you all one click this great read.
Ok First off Pixy and Polly Parton steal the show!!! I have never read a book where I loved the interaction with animals as much as the main characters.
Ok so back to this story!! Loved it! Lyric and Eddie both held secrets and as most people know, that can ruin a relationship. These 2 came together because of flowers and a goat and taking the chance on each other was a leap of faith they both needed. These 2 had their own story and wanted to show everyone that they are not their families and what their legacies may be. Both broken in a way but able to help each other out.
I can say I wanted to throw my kindle at one point but withheld and glad I did. I felt for Lyric and what she dealt with in her life and the sacrifices the Eddie did because of his love for his family.
I just know I need to read more of the stories in the Cocky Hero Club because if this one is any indication I will not be let down.
I want to start out by saying, you can't go wrong with KE Osborn, as all of her stories have every kind of feel to each one of them, but they're just awesome. Next up, is the fact that my favorite goat, Pixy, is involved once again trying to steal the show. Lyric is a simple woman who doesn't want anything to do with the fame and/or notoriety which comes with being the daughter of a rock god along with her famous siblings, so she spends her days as a florist when she meets Eddie. He seems to be a straight forward type of guy that she connects with, but like her, he's hiding a pretty big secret. And y'all already know that secrets don't make friends, which always comes to light in the worst ways possible. It definitely makes for f-bomb worthy twists, and a whole lot of drama. So, that's all from me, you'll have to hit those one click buttons to see how it all pans out! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
This was my first read by KE Osborn it did not disappoint! I got my Chance, Aubrey, and Pixy fix while learning about Eddie and Lyric. Lyric just wanted a normal life unlike the one she had growing up. Growing up in the world of 80s rock, she just wants to live life in obscurity. Is that too much to ask. Enter Eddie. There is instant chemistry, but both of these characters had secrets they kept close to their hearts. Will their secrets pull them together or push them apart? I'll leave that for you to discover.
This story was more than just a happily ever after. Yes, it's guy and girl meet, get together, break apart, get back together, and live happily every after. BUT... it was also about trust and loyalty. It was about strength and growth. It was about bonds and perseverance. So I did more than swoon and sigh while I read... I used my background and knowledge to understand each character's actions and think a little bit harder about why they did what they did.
I received an advanced copy of this book at my request and voluntarily left this review.
