When I met Ryan, I might've been trying to break into his basement.
It was for a good cause. I swear. Also, my dog broke in first.
Ryan Blake is jaw-dropping handsome, wealthy, and cocky. Not quite my type. By some miracle, he doesn't call the police on me when he catches me trying to rescue my dog. He even fetches a doctor for me. Don't ask why.
I don't figure I'll see him again. Then, I do. Then, he kisses me. Once. Twice. Is three times the charm? To be honest, I swooned at the first kiss.
All swooning aside, we are seriously opposites. I wear cowboy boots and skirts. He wears suits and ties. He's all New York City. I'm a Southern girl looking for a new start. We even talk at different speeds.
The list of things I don't expect from Ryan is long. I don't expect him to think twice about me. I don't expect him to nearly bring me to my knees with a look. I don't expect him to be so much more than I ever imagined.
I absolutely don't expect to fall for him. So hard I'm skidding sideways just to catch my balance.

I’ve previously read a short story by J.H. Croix in a Christmas collection and wasn’t crazy about it, but I decided to give the author another try. I’m not crazy about short stories, so it made sense to give a longer read a go. Unfortunately, after Sexy Suit, I’m thinking the author might not be for me.
I’m sure Sexy Suit will appeal to some, but I found it undeveloped and repetitive. There were many elements in this one that could have been fun, but none were taken as far as I would have liked them to be. Add in the fact that there’s something about the author’s writing that made it difficult for me to connect to this one, and it wasn’t for me.
I’m sure fans of the author will enjoy this one, but it just didn’t click for me. I’ll probably give the author one more try – I try to give an author two books before giving up, and I’m not going to count a short story – and we’ll see if it’s just a case of me not connecting with this one, or if I just don’t connect with the author’s style.
It was my first read of this author and I honestly didn't know what to expect. This was a sweet insta-ish love story but it felt kind of under-developed. Everything happened so fast and for the majority of the story I felt that it was repetitive and kept recycling not just the same phrases but whole conversations as well. Unfortunately, I didn't feel connected to the main characters since they didn't seem to be fleshed out to their potential.
This could have been a great story if it had more "meat" but that could just be my personal belief.
SEXY SUIT features appearances from Graham and Soraya (Stuck-Up Suit) and is the story of Ryan and Addie. I really struggled to like the characters in this book which in turn caused me to have a disconnect with the actual storyline. I can’t really pinpoint what put me off but I just wasn’t a big fan of the writing unfortunately.
3.5 really close to 4, heartwarming feel-good, Stars!
Well done opposites attract romance! I really liked that both Ryan and Addie had reservations, not just one. That felt new and unique to me. It gave the story a fresh feel for me. Again, new to me author that enjoyed however the story itself was more predictable than I normally like. Yes, I’m aware that I read a lot and it’s hard to surprise me, but I pretty much knew everything that was going to happen before it happened. It’s just a small detail and it won’t stop me from reading this author again. The romance and heat of the story was very well done.
I loved how these two met. At first I thought it was going to be a huge back and forth fighting. But Ryan was actually a good guy. Addie and Ryan couldn't have been more opposite. Ryan was the New York City hot shot owner of his own company and Addie was just a small town girl from New Orleans. Addie inherited her great aunt's brownstone and decided she needed a change. Then she meets Ryan when her dog Barnable goes missing and he accidentally crawls into Ryan's basement. From there it was sort of a total instant chemistry. But things isn't as easy as that. Addie doesn't believe that she and Ryan are a good fit, because they are total opposites. And Ryan has his own issues that he is dealing with, as well as not quit believing that he is loosing his heart to this women.
This was a sweet story. A bit predictable, but it was nonetheless a sweet read. I enjoyed how Addie made Ryan see there is more to life than work and how their opposites was something that was actually a strength in their relationship. And a first read for me by this author.❤ 😊
Addie is a free spirit from the south who moved to New York after inheriting a house. Ryan is a fully focused business man not looking for commitment, but we all know you find the good things in life when you least expect them.
This is a fun story that starts with a meet cute, and has all the factors that make books fun. A sexy alpha male, a quirky, independent heroine, loads of chemistry, and a dash of unresolved issues from the past.
A well written, fun story that’s easy to read and leaves the reader happy when it’s all said and done.
Moving from New Orleans to New York is a big move. Getting caught breaking and entering is not on the list of things to do. Addie has to save her best friend Barnable. He in a strangers basement. Said stranger just walked up on her breaking the glass to rescue her dog. I stress of calling the police, Ryan helps Addy. When Addy first sees Ryan, she dubs him Sexy Suit. That man can really work wearing a suit. He is a reserved workaholic with a hidden big heart. Addy is the complete opposite type of woman he is usually seen with. Can’t really say daye because he treats dating like a business transaction. Addy is sweet and warm. She makes him smile within minutes of meeting him. He acts completely out of character after they meet. It is obvious to those few that know him well. They both have commitment issue and a lack of trust with relationships due to their fathers. They have to learn to trust their feelings to get their HEA. No regrets.
Sexy Suit is a sweet and heartwarming read that I liked a lot and entirely enjoyed. There was an immediate attraction and chemistry between Ryan and Addie that you can feel from the moment they met, when he caught her breaking into his basement. They were so sweet together and clear example that opposites definitely attract. There wasn’t any unnecessary drama in this book and I loved that. I adored Addie’s dog Barnable, he made this book so much more special for me. All the secondary characters were great too. I loved that we get to see Graham and Soraya from Stuck-Up Suit and how they along with Barnable helped to bring Ryan and Addie together.
Sexy Suit is my first book by JH Croix and I adored it. It was fun, sweet, and steamy and is an excellent addition to the Cocky Hero World. Addie has just moved to New York from New Orleans. She has been left a Brownstone in the will of her late great aunt. She is strong and independent and Ryan is charming, wealthy, and gorgeous. They meet in different way but there are immediate sparks and their chemistry is undeniable. I don't think there is more unlikely pairing than these two as they are polar opposites but they really worked. In this story there is some light drama that kept me engaged and I was invested from the beginning. I loved that Graham (from Stuck-Up Suit) was a good friend of Ryan's and really enjoyed Addie's friendship with Soraya. The narration by Jason Clarke and Summer Roberts was excellent. These narrators do a fantastic job!
I get that. And romance isn't always a story that's told from one big event to another.
But this one? Nothing....happened, physically or emotionally. It never felt like there was any movement through any kind of story. I got to more than 25% through this book and I don't think I knew anything more about the characters than I did at the beginning.
The meet cute was...cute. But I wasn't charmed. There was a dog...even the dog lacked personality.
The smarmy lawyer? Was he smarmy? Were they trying to cheat her? Maybe?
By that part in the book I had stopped reading and started skimming. Because nothing happened. Nothing drew me to this story, the characters.
I wanted to enjoy this title, I loved the premise but the execution of it fell more than a little flat for me.
I was never engaged in the book or interested in the characters.
I had a really hard time connecting with this story. It felt as though the story was undeveloped and kind of rushed. You don’t truly get to know the characters, they met in such a fun way but then they just kind of get together and flow through the story. Some parts felt repetitive. I wish there was more character development where we learn more about them and how their relationship came about.
Sexy Suit was my first read by J.H. Croix and I found it to be an adorable read. The meet cute between Ryan and Addie was original and super funny. I love books about a southern girl moving to the big city,,because I’m a southern girl. The author captures the fun, exciting, and nerve wracking adventure of relocating to a new and totally unfamiliar city with humor and witty banter, and steam. Ryan is a complex character with sadness in his past, and that has shaped him into the man he is. But he is caring and giving even though he gives off this unapproachable vibe. Addie is fun and outgoing and something about her pulls out feelings in parts of him he didn’t think he was capable of feeling. I love Addie’s spirit and her relationship with her mom and even her dog. She’s spunky and just what Ryan needs in his life even if he didn’t know it. This is definitely a fun and quick read. It had enough going on to keep me engaged but not too much. They had witty banter and great chemistry and fire in the sexy scenes 🔥 and a HEA😍 for all. A solid four star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read for me.
Another new to me author from this round of Cocky Hero World release. Sexy Suit, is obviously set in the Stuck Up Suit world. Adorable doesn’t even begin to describe these two despite the whole dirty sex that happens . They are total opposites a Southern girl who has recently moved to New York and who has lost her dog. She wants a new experience and it’s interesting she choose New York until we get to know her character and her back story.
She gets caught up with Ryan and it’s the best thing to happen well maybe the house might win. As Ryan knows how to treat a girl right
Sexy Suit doesn’t even begin to describe Ryan. He is like many of the other heroes in this world. He is cocky and he knows it. He a powerful player in the city and you have to wonder what he wants with a girl like Addie. She doesn’t seem the type for him, if his thoughts are any indications at the beginning of this story .
I love the first meeting. Ryan obviously has the upper hand and it how did that just happen meeting. It’s a key meeting and Barnable did his job too well as what happen next. You can’t just help get swept up in their story as Ryan takes control and memorable moments that make them thing they may able to survive anything. Sexy Suit is my first but definitely not my last book from Cruix
Sexy Suit by J H Croix is a new standalone that is part of the cocky hero bookclub. It follows enigmatic billionaire Ryan and adventurous, sexy Addie. The pair meet unexpectedly when Addie is attempting to save her dog Barnable. Ryan sees a woman trying to break into his home but for some reason decides not to call the police. Sparks fly between the two and they share a fun little back and forth.
Sexy suit is a fun, lighthearted, romance novel that is easy to read. The plot line is interesting and enjoyable with characters that are flawed but in an endearing way. The main characters have a slow burn romance with lots of chemistry and I love their dynamic. Overall, sexy suit was a great, easy read that I throughly enjoyed and would recommend to any romance fan.
This was such a delightful, opposites attract romance! This is my first time reading this author, and I very much enjoyed this book!
Addie is our sweet and sassy heroine who has recently moved to NY, and Ryan is a grumpy, alpha, and slightly asshole hero. These two are compete opposites, but they are so much more than what I just described. These two aren't stereotypical characters, and you can't help but fall in love with them!
This was a very sweet romance with ALL the feels! Barnable is one to the best furry friends that I have ever has the pleasure of reading! You don't want to miss out on this book!
**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions!**
Ryan can be caught off guard by his woman at times, “eff me. Stockings? You actually wear stockings with a garter.” His eyes lifted to mine, the look there almost pained. “You’re going to kill me.” Ryan is a sucker for his woman's dog, “Barnable was a good boy,” Ryan said softly. “I might have given him too many treats.” The sheepish smile that followed his comment had my heart doing cartwheels." I liked this book, I loved Ryan.
This is my first introduction to this author and I’ll definitely be reading more from her as this was a great read.
Ryan and Addie are two complete opposites. Neither of them expected to have feelings for someone they have nothing in common with. However fate works in strange ways. I was so rooting for these two and hoped that they could move on from their past.
Good story for this series, I liked that both Addie and Ryan were erring on the side of caution and they each had reservations about pursuing anything romantic in nature. They're the very definition of opposites attract, and while the story is a bit predictable, I liked it enough to see it all the way through and see how Addie and Ryan reached their HEA.
Started this forever ago, stopped at 54% picked it back up and ended again at 72%. I just got bored. It’s not a bad book but I don’t see myself finishing it. It’s more meetcute style to me idk. 2.5/5⭐️
Addie gets caught breaking into Ryan’s basement but he believes her when she tells him she was just there to get her dog. She’s not fond of sexy men and he’s not fond of anything other then work but they are both intrigued by each other and want to know more. Cute story and I adored Addie
75% of the book was so instalove that it got boring. There was nothing to the story. No conflict, nothing to make them fight for each other. Then all the sudden at 80% in the h overheard a conversation the H was having with someone else and took it the wrong way. I skimmed the last 25% of the book, I couldn’t bother I was so bored at that point.
Y’all, this book was boring as hell. It was hard to get through, it wasn’t a bad book it just couldn’t keep my interest and I didn’t care about the characters at all
Ryan is a successful businessman whose career comes first and everything else including women come a very distant second. After another busy day at work he arrives home to fin a woman trying to break in to his basement but rather than being upset he is intrigued.
Addie is a country girl who has recently relocated to NY after she inherited a home from her aunt. When her dog is missing and found his way into Ryan’s house she is determined to rescue him and was just glad that Ryan believed her and didn’t have her arrested.
As they spend time together even though they have nothing in common the chemistry between them ignites but will a misunderstanding destroy what they have been building?
They both have pasts that are impacting their present, but I enjoyed watching them open their hearts to each other and realize that the differences between didn’t matter as long as they had love in common.
Sexy Suit is a new novel that’s part of the first intake into the Cocky Hero Club. These novels are all set in the new world inspired by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward's series of standalone novels that started with Cocky Bastard. This particular story is part of the Stuck-Up Suit world and Graham and Soraya, the couple from that book, appear in this one.
If you’ve read Stuck-Up Suit, I’m sure you’ll be delighted to catch up with Graham and Soraya, and see how much in love they still are - and what they’re up to now. But if, like me, you’ve never read it, then the couple just appear as any other supporting characters. Simply put, this book stands completely alone - you do not need to have read any other book to read and enjoy this one.
So onto the book - and goodness it was an enjoyable book.
I’ve read a little of J.H. Croix before and each time she manages to pull me into her stories with her wit, humour and sweetness coupled with deliciously dirty sex. It’s a bit like the book equivalent of seeing a ridiculously hot, naked man cuddling a cutesy wootsy puppy. All kinds of goodness in her writing.
It’s a bit of an opposites attract romance with our sassy Southern heroine - a fish out of water New Orleanian recently transplanted to New York - and our slightly grumpy, slightly assholish, bona fide New Yorker. While I’m putting them into distinct boxes, one of the best things about Addie and Ryan is that they’re neither one dimensional, nor stereotypical. Ryan especially has quite an obvious progressive emotional transformation thanks to Addie - and Barnable, of course.
While this is a sweet, almost gentle romance, it does has its funny moments such as when Barnable breaks into Ryan’s house, and his antics in general. I love dogs, but it’s unusual to find one with personality in a book that doesn’t come across as cringey and twee. Not so Barnable. Other authors take note - this is how you write a dog into a romance!
And let’s not forget the sex scenes - which are smoking hot. Shove you up against the door, I must have you right now kind of hot. But there was purpose to them and each time something happened it did drive the story on. Not that that’s necessarily required for me with sex in a story - it just so happened that that’s the way it happened in this one.
I really enjoyed this book. The characters, story, love story, conflict - everything was on point and it was a fun read. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was because I felt it stalled ever so slightly at the 1/3 or so mark. It picked up again and rallied right up until the end, which was swoon-worthingly wonderful - which definitely makes me feel guilty for the 4 stars. Yet 4 stars is still a solid rating for a book that I can’t see anyone disliking. If you like Ms Croix’s writing, or are just looking for a cute and sexy New York romance, then this is the book for you.
Sexy scenes & romance b/t the H&H, but there isn’t much of a story. Boring & doesn’t have much depth to it; just kinda follows them thru their regular days.
Addie has inherited a house from her aunt and moves from Louisiana to New York to take over the house and start a new life. Addie does not trust rich, sexy men but when she runs into Ryan while breaking into his house to get her dog, she is struck by his looks and cockiness. Ryan treats his women like he does his business, do not get attached, that is until he sees this beautiful woman breaking into his house. Ryan retrieves Barnable, Addie's dog, from his basement and allows them to go on their way. Barnable has his own plan to get Ryan and Addie together even though they are completely opposite.
Sexy Suit is an opposites-attract romance that is part of the Cocky Hero Book Club. Ryan and Addie start falling for each other before they even know what is happening and have some great sexual tension without all the drama. J. H. Croix did an amazing job with Barnable and making him a big part of the story. There was a little bit of repetitiveness but it was still enjoyable.
