Preston When an opportunity comes knocking, you shouldn't question it. Unless it comes in the form of a 5'2", feisty, loudmouth girl who just so happens to hate your guts. The same girl you haven't been able to get out of your head for three years. But, I'm a gambler by nature. A risk taker. So when Kit Bishop makes me an offer I'm in no position to refuse... I take it. I just have to make sure I don't end up giving her more than what we both bargained for. Like the fucked-up thing beating in my chest.
Kit There's no one on earth I hate more than Preston Holden. As if our past didn't give me enough of a reason—he's also a cocky, arrogant jerk with a gambling problem. Unfortunately for me, he just so happens to be the only guy I can ask to help me with my issue. It's simple. He needs the money. I need a husband. It's strictly business. A one-year stint between enemies. No strings. No feelings—other than our mutual dislike for one another. But the thing about hate? It can flip on a dime. It can have you questioning things about yourself you never thought you would. And if I'm not careful—things are going to get even more complicated between us.
You know the saying—'til death do us part? Well, in our case? It includes all the complicated parts.
Please note: This book is part of a series. Book one needs to be read prior to this book. Complicated Hearts (featuring different characters) does not have to be read in order to read this series. However, there are some spoilers for the Complicated Hearts duet.
How the fuck does Ashley Jade make me love a slow burn romance?
I hate them. God, do I hate them.
But, to simply say Kit and Preston’s romance is a slow burn, would put them to shame. It’s a slow burn, yes. But it’s a raging wildfire sparking and crackling just ready for someone or something to light the match. It’s chemistry that will burn everything in it’s path. You can’t stop it and you can’t slow it down. The only thing you can do is wait and watch until finally, it goes up in flames. And god, how I wanted them to be fully engulfed.
I love their story so much. Every time I read it, I feel privileged to have front row seats to their shit show. Because, good God they both have issues. But damn me if it doesn’t make me love them even more for it. Preston, that son of a bitch, makes me want to throttle him one second and ride his face in the next. And Kit, God love her, I don’t know if I want to be her or be on her. (AND IM STRAIGHT) but I can fantasize. She breaks my heart too. They both do actually. Their worlds are full of so much hurt and pain they deserve some happiness.
By the way, can I just pause this for like two seconds to say the times when the match was flicking and sparks were flying were HOT AS FUCK.
Dear Lord in Heaven I just wanted them to combust and finally turn into the raging inferno they are together.
It’s beautiful and it’s deadly.
I’m so ready for book 3 and book 2 isn’t even technically out yet. All I can say is for everyone who hasn’t read it yet, good luck. You’re going to need it.
But you’re also going to love it. Trust Ashley.
Preston and Kit are unlike anyone I’ve ever read. If there were ANY books in the whole world that was a must read, I would for sure tell them Preston and Kit’s books because it’s not just voyeuring on a love story. It’s watching two people who are broken and bent matching up with someone else’s broken and bent. It’s learning how ugly life is but also how beautiful it can be too. It’s about how life isn’t fair just because you’re a good person. It’s about finding the beauty in what everyone sees as ugly. You’ll never read any books like these. Ever. I’m so incredibly honored to have read these.
I don’t even know where to start. I’m absolutely speechless. This book, just, WOW!!!
This was a book that I will never forget. My stomach is in my throat and my heart is beating so unbelievably hard, I can feel the pulsing in my ears.
I knew going into Kit and Preston’s story that Ashley Jade was going to give me the emotional ride that I was craving. But I have to tell you, I was NOT prepared at all for what I got instead. This was more then a ride. This was a moment in my life that I will forever remember, Characters that have come to mean more to me than I ever thought would be possible. Through every word, every page, every scene, I was consumed from the deepest parts of my soul, living and breathing in the pages of this book.
As a reader, it’s not often that you read a book that has an impact on you so profound, that you lose sleep over it, and still days later, can’t stop thinking about it. I rarely get that type of reaction when reading a book and from someone who is an avid reader, it’s like finding a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. That feeling is PRICELESS!
I don’t know how she does it, I really don’t. Ashley Jade takes you on this discovery through Kit and Preston’s eyes and you feel EVERYTHING!!!!!
I laughed. I cried. I swooned and melted. I felt betrayed, angry, devastated, surprised. I loved. I longed. I just literally felt it all and from every direction. It was raw and it was real and I loved every single second of it. This is a story that you need to EXPERIENCE for yourself.
Ashley Jade has taken my love of reading to an entirely new level. She doesn’t hold back and her words will rock you to your very core.
Once upon a time... We all know that saying. It's the prelude to an epic story, with twists and turns no one sees coming. The beginning of a journey that will have your gut twisting and the absolute need to keep going because you know the best is yet to come. You trust the author to take you on a path, and to give you characters that you fall in love with. It's too bad Ashley Jade couldn't start Complicated Parts with “Once upon a time...” because from book 1 to book 2; I've felt that this story Kit and Preston's Complicated Parts – would be one of those epic love stories that would never leave you long after you've read the last words. And these two have stuck with me like no other. Complicated Parts Book 2 is nothing short of astonishing. Unconventional and completely different from any other love story out there. You get the feels deep down in your soul. Really. I felt every emotion as if I were Kit. Or Preston. It is the slowest of angsty burns I've ever read. Kit and Preston have something together that grabs at your heart and just squeezes it. Their chemistry, their connection. It's something I've seen since Complicated Hearts. I had a feeling there was something there. And boy was I right. I can't commend Ashley Jade enough. She's turned two completely beautifully broken people and pieced them back together again just right so that they are each others' glue. You know one can't survive without the other. This story will have you laughing out loud one minute then sobbing while hugging your pillow the next. You'll scream at your kindle and at the very end, throw it across the room. I don't know how Ashley Jade does it. I really don't know how she creates these mesmerizing stories and characters that are so unforgettable. She's woven such a beautiful, complicated story that I can't get enough of. I can't recommend a book..a series..more than Complicated Parts by Ashley Jade.
The following ratings are out of 5: Romance: 💋💋💋💋💋 Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Story/Plot: 📙📕📗📘📔 World building: 🌎🌏🌍🌎🌍 Character development: ☺️🥸😎😘🤨
The heroine:Kit Bishop - Preston hurt her like no other. Kit quit college and was on a downward spiral of partying and debauchery for nearly three years before she cleaned up her act. Now she has a job she likes and a female boss she likes even more.
The Hero(es):Preston Holden - he quit Yale and moved to Vegas to become a gambler for the Mob after his father died. He was determined to not rely on his brother, who had always rescued him from the sticky situations his gambling got him into.
The story: Preston and Kit had a connection that neither one of them could deny and though they brought each other pain in the past, they have a trust in each other that they couldn’t find with anyone else.
When Kit finds out that her Grandmother might cut her out of the will which consisted of her parent’s money and instead give it to her Uncle who she suspects of causing their deaths, she is determined to not allow that to happen. Even if it means bowing to her nanna’s demands and marrying a man. So when Preston suddenly appears back in her life it seems like fate.
I have to say that I usually don’t like the slow burn romance. Though if they are done right, it can really be a great way to build a lasting relationship in a story. I like seeing the movement of friends (or enemies) to lovers in a way that has all the feels. You can really see the yearning and love growing between two people.
I didn’t know how this one would go, or if I would even like it since the heroine is gay. I am not gay, but I tend to think if you are gay you are gay and can’t be changed. But then I can see the argument of falling in love with a person regardless of sexuality and how that love can turn into more. I don’t know if this could happen in real life, but I really like the way it is happening in this series. Kit is definitely struggling with her sexuality because of what she feels for Preston and I like how that happens in this story.
I voluntarily read & reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts & opinions are my own.
I can't believe I'll say this, but this book was able to keep me glued to my Kindle without one single sex scene!
SHOCKING! I KNOWWWWW!
Specially since it's the second on a trilogy and the main character STILL haven't gone all in! I guess NOW I understand the change on the titles, because that was a huge bluff in the end!
Kit and Preston still drive me crazy, but I'll start by saying that who annoyed me the most in this book was Breslin! Oh my God what a judgemental bitch she was in this book! I hate when this happens with previous characters that I liked. Asher isn't much better, but he was never a favorite, so...
I get why the author is holding on to the sex between them, seeing as Kit is a self-assured and very proud lesbian, but at this point on bluff, it's pretty clear even to her, that she's not only in love with Preston, but also very much attracted to him.
Kit is a crying mess and Preston is a time bomb ready to explode every other chapter, but when they're alone in their own bubble, they're perfectly imperfect for each other! They're both so broken that together they fit like a whole.
Their chemistry is undeniable but i understand why they both can't handle to take it any further.
I also saw that cliffhanger coming from miles... Since the end of the first part of book one (if you read it, you can take a guess).
I don't even know why I'm giving 4 stars since apparently, I only have complains to do in this shit review, but that's probably because I'm with book blue balls, so cut me some slack. 😂😂
I did liked them though... Let's hope for the best in the last book, because i know that shit will be dragged into the mud after that end!
Bluff is book two in the Complicated trilogy. It takes place three years later, where book one ended.
Ugh, Ashley Jade is out to break me, such a beautiful and complicated book. Let me tell you; Kit is my kind of female Protagonist. She has a kind and gentle heart with a touch of crazy. She really surprised me in this book.
Preston, on the other hand, infuriates me. Yet, at the same time, I want to hug him. He is keeping several secrets and has demons he has never addressed And is in a dark place and still loves Kit three years later. They have a very unique bond. Kit is Prestons, one true friend, and hasn't given up on him.
The wicked witch of a grandmother reappears, and shocker ( I say with disdain sarcasm) she lied through the years to Kit. Now has new demands and basically blackmails Kit. Kit gives in to her demands but with a twist. Long story short, she runs into Preston, and he is willing to help. Lines start to blur. But Preston is too secretive and still gambles.
It’s a bumpy, complex ride, and it is far from over. Becca has been brought up in the book as past tense. But I feel like she is going to make a new appearance. And I really wish Preston will get his crap together and address his demons. He is just in limbo. Surviving but not living life. That cliffhanger left me with too many questions.
Book two picks up exactly where book one stopped. Kit and Preston’s adventure is far from over. The complexities of these two wonderful characters continue in this second instalment. As per the author’s disclaimer, this was supposed to be a duet then turned into a trilogy, I’m grateful for that. The cliffhanger at the end of this left me baffled and with a hunger for more only book three can satiate. I’m usually picky when it comes to duets or trilogy, sometimes I found a story could be developed in one book, however in this case I couldn’t be more grateful to Ms Jade for listening to these crazy two and give us another book, there is no way such complicated story could be completed in two books.
Kit is the ever loving pink charming girl, she wears her heart on her sleeve, she finds solace in Preston together with murderous thoughts, because let’s say it, the guy could drive a saint crazy. Kit has to face her evil than ever grandma, she takes on Preston’s drama on the side, all while trying to keep her job and learn the ropes of her new work position. As if that wasn’t enough on her plate she also needs to deal with her feelings for Preston. She has never been known for camouflaging her sensitive side, only this time, she needs to face new sensations, things she cannot explain nor has an answer for. What little certainty she had in her life risks to be blown away by this new unknown avalanche of feels.
Preston is still the very damaged young man we meet in book one, we learn more from his perspective and although some of his choices are questionable I couldn’t help becoming teary when looking from the outside at his life. He’s one bad decision away from sure death, yet he can’t seem to pick up the pieces and carry on, it’s almost as if he’s a bull charging head on towards his red flag. Thankfully his only solace and temporary peace comes from Kit. She’s the only one who can get though him and that actually gets him. Preston is frowned upon and misunderstood by everyone, Kit is the only one in his corner.

The story is told in dual POV, a fast paced narrative will bring you to the end of the tunnel way too fast. While embarking on this emotionally intensive ride you’ll suffer, scream, throw a tantrum or two, smack Preston on the head one or two times and a second later you’ll want to hug him tight, break and burn along with Kit, because even if you know the stove is hot, you still want to feel the burnt, you’ll fall even if you’re not sure anyone will catch you. I know for a fact both Kit and Preston have so much to say, I can’t wait for the last book in this out of this world crazy journey.
~𝘼 𝙆𝙞𝙨𝙨 𝙞𝙨 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙖 𝙠𝙞𝙨𝙨...𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙡 𝙞𝙩 𝙞𝙨𝙣'𝙩~
I want to thank, once again, the author for taking such a huge risk, I know it wasn’t easy, how much of her she poured into it and the cost of sending out in the world such complicated story. I look forward to get emotional all over again with the third and last (insert tears) instalment.
The biggest challenge when we read Ashley Jade is not to immerse ourselves in the story she gives us, but to emerge from it, as equally while reading as when we turn the last page. Not only this is particularly true with Complicated Parts, she also exceeds all expectations on every levels, no exception. I was looking forward to the second part of this extraordinary Series, but I never thought I would almost become a slave to every word in this book, hungry for more at every page I’d flip. And that more I’d read, more intensified the addiction would become rather than calm down. As it’s always the case with Ashley Jade, but this time, there was indeed something different.
Because there is no artifice in Complicated Parts. No special effects. It's a story based on two characters with complicated parts that decides to start an even more complicated journey. Yet, it’s one of the stories that’s obsessed me the most, got under my skin like not too many succeeded to do. And not this way.
From the very first two pages, you are drawn in at the speed of a typhoon ravaging everything in its path. Heck, a real F5 Tornado and that, before you even get the chance to take your next breath between the array of emotions you feel. And THIS torpidity linger from page one untill the last. In fact, as physically impossible as it may be according to the laws of physics, the storm only escalates as you move ahead in the story. Everything becomes more intense. Our connection with the characters; Preston and Kit’ connection; the emotions they make us go through... Because you don’t fall for them, you literally *crash* in love with them. Their story becomes our story. Their torments, ours. Their confusion and uncertainty, their emotions and flaws, their strengths and heartbreaks... Everything about this book capture us into its web. Once you open it up, everything ceases to exist around us, only to focus on everything #KITON; there’s only Ashley's incredibly beautiful words.
Kit and Preston’ story is uncommon but add to that Ashley Jade’s extraordinary pen, so unique and mesmerizing, passionate and enticing... The experience rapidly becomes purely mind blowing. She redefined through Preston and Kit the notion of carnal chemistry. Because for two characters whose parts do not fit together, their chemistry is so f$cking intense, it transcends the law of physical attraction. THAT’S definitely the beauty of Complicated Parts. Preston and Kit’s connection is special. If there’s something called ‘love at first sight’, I would describe what Kit and Preston has as ‘soul mates at first sight’; This soul connection is what makes them reach out to one another. Even when obscured with anger, resentment and deceit, they can’t help but feel it, reaching them as far as into the depth of the night. It’s this connection that draws them to one another, drives their desire to know more of the each other, how they offer themselves over, no second thoughts... And that, even when everything else about them doesn’t fit.
“I’m his exception and he’s my anomaly” ~Kit
And THAT’s something I’ve rarely seen before; when their bodies connect, any way it can be, it‘s driven by this soul connection; that's how they belong. They GIVE and FEEL each other. Protecting, saving, and caring. Catching one another when they fall. This is why their chemistry is incredibly powerful. It’s palpable, relentlessly holds us breathless, keeping us on the edge of a turmoil of emotions and has us simultaneously feel everything they do. It transcends the pages to reach our own soul.
This book made me laugh, cringe, got me angry, broke my heart, kept me on the tip of my chair, turned me on, frustrated me and the most important of all, got me hook completely because I loved every single part of it, even the most complicated one.
Complicated Parts is what I feel, will be the most beautiful story Ashley Jade has ever written. Don’t get me wrong, each of her books has deepness and are extraordinary AF. But this one is different. It’s about how she managed all the complicated parts like a maestros, starting with the characters themselves—broken, full of flaws yet, so compelling and with whom you can’t help but falling in love—mastering their background and issues... and reinvented completely the definition of slow burns; because it might be a slow burn, but it’s one with the intensity of the flame of hell, wrapping you from the head to the tip of your toes. It’s insanely addictive, yet sinfully beautiful.
Ashley Jade might be the Queen of angst, something she confirmed again with this book, because it’s definitely hanging, but she is first and foremost, a Master in the art of bringing to life characters bigger than nature. She knows how to deliver their story in a way she can break our heart in thousand of pieces but also heal our shattered soul when she had us gone through the highest highs and lowest lows. With her, it’s never about the destination, always the journey.
And I can’t wait to read the conclusion in book 3; not just because I want to know what’s going to happen but because I can’t wait to ‘see’ them again.
“I’m not a good person and most of the time I deserve the bad shit that comes my way, but Kit’s my proverbial line you don’t cross. Not unless you have a death wish.”—Preston
It's been years since I read this series, so I totally forgot most of it, hence the fact that I just binged books one and two in just one days time.. but I can't believe I forgot THAT ending. Holy christ on a cracker, I'm I'm glad All In is coming in a few days because I don't think I would have survived that cliffy if it wasn't. HOLY SHIT.
What I love most about these books is that the relationship between Kit and Preston is so messy but so freaking real. One minute they are connecting on such a soul level and the next they literally can't stand one another. It's such an addicting backlash and I can't wait for both of them to let down their guards and just *be* with one another. Especially since we all know they are head over heels in love, even though won't admit it.
Another thing I truly adore is Kits evolution with her sexuality. She's always considered herself a lesbian so her feelings and her attracted for Preston scare her, but he's her home. Her soft place to land. Preston actually said it best when he told her that she's the only one that has a problem with her continously labeling her sexuality, and I can't wait to see how she comes to terms with it more in the last book. I love how it's a very gradual thing and it's all been baby steps when it comes to the steamy scenes between her and Preston. They both want each other -- that's clear as day-- but kit just won't let herself go across the line. And if she does, will Preston be there to catch her? Or will this cliffy ending ruin them before they get the chance to start?
I have so many freaking theories and questions and I just can't wait until I get All In in my grabby little hands. The wait is going to be torture ya'll!!
Do yourselves a favor and go read this series if you haven't already. It's seriously SO addicting!!
To say Kit and Preston’s relationship is a roller coaster would be an understatement. It goes up and down , back and forth. They fight and make up. Despite how much they piss each other off they always find their way back to one another because of their shared history. What they went though has had such an impact that they can put all their differences aside and forgive. They need each other. To forget and move on but it’s difficult when feelings hide beneath the surface. I’m definitely intrigued by Kit and how she struggles with those new feelings and still embracing her sexuality and being a lesbian. Preston has his own secrets and his feelings for Kit is on another level than hers. Together they just work despite their at times exasperated relationship. The ending left me wanting so much more from this couple and I’m so excited that we’re finally getting a conclusion to their story.
WOW.....what can I say. When I read Complicated Parts (Book 1) I fell in love with both Kit and Preston. Each character had their own flaws and yet you can't help but love them. Kit is hardheaded and her own person and Preston the lovable asshole. When I finished I couldn't wait till this one came and now that I finished it all I can say is WOW. The story is becoming so COMPLICATED!!!
I had more fun reading this than first book maybe because I find Ashley book entertaining for most times but let's move on. I liked chemistry between Kit and Preston I can't stop reading this entertaining mess.
This book needs more than 5 Stars. I can't give this treasure the love it needs. So much. So much spills from the words and the pages eat you up. I'm not sure how to include everything without giving a single clue away.
Because every gambler will tell you… It’s never winning that’s the problem. It’s losing.
It's complicated would be my first thought. And that, in itself is the irony. THIS STORY is way past complicated. It's all things... I don't fucking know. I'll be the first to tell you I did not love the first. The second on the other hand was the hand you thought you had. A poker face wasn't needed. I was playing from start to finish. Money be damned. I COULD NOT PUT THIS BOOK DOWN! You're all kinds of crazy when you keep playing when the house always wins. I know. I know. I can't help myself, I was in love with gambling within the pages as Preston Holden was. Oh, Holden. Oh, Kit. You make mind burst. My heart soar. My insides melt.
Most kisses leave you breathless, this one breathes life back into me.
The story centers around unlikely people. The spark has been lit since the first book, but the fire just started. The ashes could be the death of us all. I felt everything. These characters left a mark that will send me shocks from now on. I'm waiting and hoping their dust never settles. Because I love the chemistry their fire ignites.
It’s easier to walk away when you’re winning. It’s impossible to walk away when you’re losing. Not until you’ve lost everything.
I recommend this book to unconventional readers and the lovers of angst. You know you need this.
So here is my review of Complicated Parts 2. It'll be short and sweet because when you get this type of novel, words are simply not enough to really convey exactly what and how it made you feel.
But since amazon doesn't accept gifs as a review, i'll add a bit more words. Ashley Jade isn't the type of author that you can easily forget. Her books are full of angst that will make you forget you're reading a college/new adult romance that barely scratches the surface of what chemistry is like between two people who really shouldn't like one another - heck, one's a bonafide unreformed gambler, and the other bats for the other team. But together... wow. Kit and Preston are bloody hot together.
I absolutely loved them together, loved their story, and for real, can't praise this author enough for how she made her characters come to life. She has become in the few books i've read from her, one of my favorite authors of this year and i'm truly looking forward to her next release, no matter how long i have to wait.
"I've destroyed everything that's ever been mine -do you really want to roll the dice and take that risk?"
If I tell you that this story isn't complicated as hell, I will blatantly lie to you!!! Ashley Jade has created magic with this story even though it is the unconventional kind... Kit and Preston has the ability to put their stamp on your heart and become unforgettable... Their story, even though complicated, it makes you to not want to ever come to an end, even though you are craving something good...
"Preston Holden wasn't a butterfly. He was dangerous chaos. And the moment my broken wings fluttered for him. Everything would change."
I don't know what to say to you about this story... The second part picked up at the exact point that the first part had ended... Kit and Preston didn't part ways in the best conditions... And now, three years after, they are about to meet again under different circumstances!!!!
"Every time I jerk and every time I fucked... she was there. Lingering like a stain that won't come clean. Reminding me that we always want what we can't have."
Kit is finally in a good point on life, but still bad luck is following after her... Preston's life turned upside down and his demons are following him everywhere... These two had lost hope, when they will meet again... Kit is desperate and she is having a crazy idea that will bound them together, only if Preston will accept... And Preston is a known gambler and it is impossible to bypass a great opportunity. But what this new development will cost them??
"A kiss is just a kiss... until it isn't."
I crazy love both Kit and Preston... Kit is her usual sweet self with a feisty side when Preston is present... She still wears her heart on her sleeve and even though, Preston is causing her pain, she never resents him. Preston is self-destructive from every aspect... He is doing one mistake after another, but still... You can't not love the guy, even when you want to smack his head upside down once or twice or a hundred times!!! These two couldn't be more atuned to each other and their connection is sending sparks upon my spine... But things are not always easy with them... They are just so darn complicated!!!
"That's what Preston Holden does. You let him get one foot inside your door... or worse, inside your heart... and it's utter mayhem. Chaos and destruction."
"Fuck -this girl. She has a way of coiling herself around the dead thing inside my chest and jump-starting it back to life."
I'm really wondering where this story will lead us... I know that the situation is kind of unorthodox with Kit's sexual preferences, but I'm really rooting for her and Preston to be together... They have an amazing connection and i believe that they are each other's calm in the storm that their lives are... And after that ending, I can't wait to find all the secrets that Preston is holding inside his heart!!!!
"What do you want from me, Kit?" "I want you to grow a goddmn heart."
**I received an ARC for the exchange of an honest review**
Well fuck my heart is torn into shreds after that ending! I need the next book ASAP ! Hopefully Ashley Jade puts my heart back together again because I can’t even right now ! Kit and Prestons story is intense emotional angsty and heartbreaking their connection to each other is insane! I don’t know what to do with myself right now someone send help please! This authors writing is amazing and her cliffhangers are brutal but I trust her immensely so I can’t wait to see where she takes us next !
The story should come with it's own hashtag - #Illusions. “Illusions aren't always a bad thing. Sometimes it's your mind's way of saving you when reality keeps trying to break you. A way of giving you something to believe in when you don't have anything left.” Things are never what they appear to be. The senses sometimes misjudge. One can see Mirages in the Day and contrary to the belief, the power rests with the deluded, Cause they're pure of heart and selfless in their vision. They believe what the illusionist wants them to believe, sometimes knowingly, because they've fallen in love with the Illusion itself. It’s easy to judge others from the outside looking in while we sit perched on our own throne of hypocrisy. Glass houses and all that.
Book 2 starts where book 1 ended and Kit and Preston are in a locked horns position, each snapping, dodging, parrying, trying to cut each other with sharp horns, but when he bleeds, she bleeds. Preston is at a dead end alley and Kit steps in to help him. The MoFo carries a chip as big as Grand Canyon on his shoulders and keeps fighting her off. He's stuck very firmly between a rock and a hard place and his only salvation seems to be to accept Kits offer, but his pride, his secrets, his anger dn't let him say yes.
The scene at Drive-thru had me laughing so hard and cabbie Kevin was effing hilarious. “Beautiful pink-haired goddess, nothing in the world would make me happier than to be your husband.” OMG Kevin🤣😂 And their trade off is a Baaaaaaaaad idea right from the get go. “I’ve destroyed everything that’s ever been mine—do you really want to roll the dice and take that risk?” “Broken things never work as good as they used to.” Maybe two sharp edges of broken heart might fit together.... The feels are in plural and in CAPS ! You will cry and holler and howl and ball up on the floor. But the ending will kill ya, it's kindle hurtling. WTH Ashley!!😳 And I’ve destroyed everything that’s ever been mine. Pick up the book and cry your heart out and then open a bottle of wine and keep drinking till the next book. 4 "Nonna Satan" stars #BookBistroBlogApproved Follow us on : FB - https://www.facebook.com/groups/BookB... Part 2 picks up from where part one ended and Kit and Preston are soon doing the push and pull dance that they do so well. With Kit under increasing pressure from her grandmother, it looks like they could be the answer to each other’s problems...or because it’s Kit and Preston they could create even more. Nothing ever seems to run smoothly for these two and with things becoming even more complicated, it’s anyone’s guess what’s going to happen next with them.
Preston is one of those men that tick every single one of my boxes. He frustrates me more than any other character. He’s a contradiction. He’s an arrogant, selfish, cold, closed off, calculating bad boy. But he’s also surprisingly loyal, has a sweet side and a conscience he keeps very well hidden. I can’t help but try and see the best in him even when he’s making me want to punch him in the face. I have to believe he’s the guy I want him to be.
Kit is Kit. I adore this woman. Confused, manipulated by others, trying her best to make the best of a bad situation, Kit is hoping that just for once things will go her way. Her confusion over her feelings and the connection she shares with Preston, leave her in emotional turmoil and it was very easy to sympathise with her. She’s a really likeable, genuine and loyal woman and I’m rooting for her to get her HEA in the end.
Kit and Preston have fast become my favourite couple from Ashley Jade. They’re both complex, troubled and flawed characters but that only makes me love them more. I love the slow burn, the push and pull, the tension between them, the banter and the fights, the unique and unbreakable bond they share. Their flaws, their insecurities, their hidden feelings. It’s all perfect. They’re messed up, unconventional and complicated. There’s a very fine line between love and hate and Preston and Kit have perfected the art of straddling that line, and making me as a reader straddle it right along with them. As much as love them both, there’s been times I’ve really disliked them too (by them I mean mostly Preston).
This book is part two in what I think is a three part series and in true Ashley Jade style it ends with a bang, and I guarantee that you’ll be left desperate for more. I can’t wait for book three of Kit and Preston’s story. I need to know what’s going to happen next with these two.
As usual, he has this uncanny ability to make me want to push him off a cliff…and then turn myself into a body of water at the last possible second just to make sure he lands safely. He’s a jerk. He’s mean. And he’s cruel. But he’s Preston.
That quote describes the only thing I loved about this book......Preston Holden. He was a toxic, brooding asshole but he was mine. I loved his perfections (uh huh...have you met those abs and cheekbones?!) But I also loved his flaws ( He should really not open his mouth unless he wants a slap ....or hate sex😂)
Kit, on the other hand, was too forgiving for me. The amount of times she forgave Preston for his hateful words and poisonous actions was just too much. I liked that she took a stand at last but that too was overshadowed by another subplot .... . Also, the girl abused her tear ducts so much that I am wincing for them. The amount of crying Kit did could fill entire rivers and lakes. It was exhausting and she was exhausting. But I still loved Preston.
Overall, it was enjoyable but also forgettable (considering it's been 4 days and I don't remember most of the story) .
With brilliance comes perfection…Ashley Jade has done it again.
Complicated Parts (Book 2) is emotionally raw, unconventionally romantic, and laugh-out-loud funny.
“I’m his exception, and he’s my anomaly.” —Kit
There’s an undeniable connection between Kit and Preston and it grows more intense as the story progresses. Their journey—and it is a journey—is plagued with past traumas, unimaginable heartbreak, and uphill battles, but they find solace in one another. Their connection is intense, their chemistry, palpable. The slow burn…absolutely irresistible.
“We’re so attuned in this moment, heartbeat to heartbeat, breathing the same air. I’ve never been so fundamentally attached to another person like I am with him.” —Kit
Friendships are tested. Families are divided. Loyalties are questioned. Lines are drawn in the sand.
“Life’s full of tough choices…but you don’t always get to make the choice. Sometimes life makes it for you.” —Preston
This book captivated me from beginning to end. It sucked me in and had me thinking about the story and characters long after the last page was read. And in order to fully immerse yourself in this world Ashley Jade has brilliantly created, reading Complicated Parts (Book 1) is a must. I’m sitting on the edge of my seat, anxiously awaiting the conclusion. I can’t imagine what this author has in store for us next!
Oh wow did this one wreck me!! Ashley Jade does angst and heartbreak like no other and Preston and Kit’s story is so unique and so different it absolutely slayed me in the best possible way! These characters share the most intense connection. The tension, their banter and chemistry was like an addiction! I absolutely could not get enough! There were moments I was frustrated with Kit but I completely get it at the same time. She is feeling alone and afraid she is confused and doesn’t understand her feelings but Preston this man! He never once pressured her. I mean he still has his own demons he is facing but that didn’t deter him. This couple is the definition out beautifully broken. To say this book put me through the ringer with my emotions I am not exaggerating! I laughed, swooned, cried, screamed, felt devastated, surprised and every other emotion in between. I am officially obsessed with this author and must find time for her entire backlist asap. She is a talented writer of all the words. I am in awe and can’t wait to read how Kit and Preston’s story will conclude in All In.
Ashley Jade has created a world where from the very first page of the first book, you slip into it, and your stressors, your to do list, your heart break, your illness, it fades away while you’re in this story. You slip into this world she created, where you find yourself believing these characters COULD be really living these lives they become so real. They are beautifully, tragically flawed. Preston, my favorite @sshole ever, we get the reasons for his behavior. So I find myself rooting him on even as I’m going “whyyyyy Preston!!!” And Kit? Kit is amazing. Kit is a tiny tornado of complicated fireball ferociousness. These people are not perfect but they are just trying to do their best. These books can’t be pigeonholed. These characters can’t be pigeonholed. Ashley Jade just created a whole new mold in the romance genre. And thank God for that.
5 stars I read like there was no tomorrow. Much much better than fold. Their chemistry is undeniable. Kit can be dense and thick at times, but when they’re together, it’s their world and that’s all that matters.
Preston is precious. I knew he still loved that kid. And I guess I’d always known that’s the reason he was never mentioned until the end. That guy is selfless and he fucking cares about everyone that he’d go to hell to push them away to keep them safe. He’s almost perfect, save for his gambling.
And that darned Nanna of Kit’s. Istg I’m gonna punch her square in her stupid pompous face and break her nose. If she doesn’t get her shit together and apologise to Kit, I might do just that.
My expectations were met, this book did it for me. I’m happy. My heart hurts but I’ll take it.
Slow Slow Slowwwwww burnnnnnnn, but the tension is absolutely killing me!!! I love the trope introduced in this book and just the enemies/friends to lovers aspects works so well for the two of them.
Kit and Preston are both such strong characters and I love that although they are friends, the intimacy they share warms my heart. They understand one another so well I seriously will never get over it. They are soulmates 100% and I would honestly love them staying friends or becoming lovers because their relationship wither way is perfect.
I am a bit mad because I highkey hated Breslin in this one even though I loved her for the most part in her duet. She becomes a bit selfish.
I thought before I read this book that I was open-minded. I thought I was somebody that wasn't judgemental. Well after reading this book all I do know is that I don't know anything at all. Ashley Jade challenges every belief that we as human beings could have regarding relationships and love. Kit and Preston have proven that sometimes there is no explanation or reason to how we feel. Sometimes the things that make the least amount of sense and are wrong in every way possible are the things that also make the most sense. Yes this story is strange. Yes this story is weird. But despite all that and how complicated it truly is it is Perfectly Imperfect
This is book two of this trilogy. Before you go any further you need to read book one. This continues where book one ended.
I was ecstatic to see that this duet was going to be a trilogy. I just can't seem to get enough of this authors words. After reading this I can understand why we are getting another book.
Kit and Prestons story continues.....and what a story it is. Your not going to get anything about the story from me. I don't want to spoil it for anyone. This book does not just need to be read.... it needs to be felt.
This author knows how to tell a story. This story is unconventional yet amazing. She knows how to pull on all your emotions. She has her own amazing unique way with words that will pull you in from start to finish. I seriously cannot praise this author highly enough.
