Tatum Trevino waltzed into my life like he owned it. The renowned soccer star showed up as my new coach and changed everything.
Until rumors started flying about the bad boy prodigy kicked off his team. I thought he was nothing but another cocky playboy, but there was another side to him under the facade.
Late training sessions, secret getaways, and a delicious sleeve of tattoos led to temptation. We kept our relationship private, but I wasn’t the only secret he was keeping.
And it’s only a matter of time before the truth comes out.
Kelsey has always been an avid reader and writer and recently she has decided to share her stories with the world. She has a golden retriever she's madly in love with and a true crime obsession.
..why do guys just assume the baby is theirs without deciding to do a paternity test? What are they drinking.. and can I never have that.
Filthy Forward was another okay book in this series. In it, you will meet Bria and Tatum. Bria is in her senior of college and Tatum is an ex-professional soccer player. The reason why he wasn't playing was pretty freaking sketchy. Things just weren't adding up because why would one teammate be in trouble when he was with another one? Why does a marriage stop the other guy from being in trouble? It just made no sense to me and seemed like utter bullshit.
Then there's some tense and sexual scenes between Bria and Tatum. Even though nothing really happened between them other than a few kisses.. but things go downhill fast. Bria is on the bench and Tatum is just being weird and meeting the baby momma.
Things did finally heat up towards the end of the book and it was all really good. Like fireworks went off because it was bound to happen. Yet, I was waiting for the other shoe to drop (again).
In the end, the twists were okay-ish? They just seemed really odd and weren't adding up in my brain - even with coffee.
This story started out with a strong storyline and continued to be strong for a good portion until it didn’t. When I say the story derailed into dysfunctional, I mean it avalanched! wow
Filthy Forward by Kelsey Cheyenne is one of the many great novels coming from the Cocky Hero Club! I'm finding these novels to be very addicting! I need them all!
When I first read the synopsis to Filthy Forward, I instantly had that gut feeling I needed this book in my hands and I needed it right now. Kelsey Cheyenne being a new to me author was an added bonus.
I'm fairly new to the athlete/coach trope. In my time spent reading, this is the trope I haven't really had the chance to dive fully into yet. It's not that I'm against it, but if told the wrong way, this trope can be really cringe worthy and it can go against the one thing I keep close to my heart, my morals. So with that being said, I loved the fact this novel takes place in college with adult characters getting into adult situations.
College years is a rough time, you're just beginning to find yourself and you just started traveling down the path your journey consists of. Whether you're a freshman in college or a senior, life is hard. And then you throw in relationships into the mix and life as we know it can be downright confusing. Bria shows this aspect perfectly. She's at the cusp of her college career, and where to go from here is in the air. I loved Bria and her fighting spirit. She's an example of what it looks like when someone rises above their past. Her past was tragic, but it's her past that gives he the fight and determination to be the best.
Tatum's story is somewhat of a cliche. Soccer god, playboy status and manwhore vibes with the world in his hands is suddenly brought down to ground level when rumors have the ability to ruin his career. It's in his best interest to stay underground, don't talk to press, and lay low until everything blows over. His coach gets him a job as an assistant soccer coach.
I adored Bria and Tatum's relationship. I loved their continuous banter and the fact that Tatum wasn't afraid to push Bria to her full potential. These two are FIRE! And if i'm being honest, I want more Bria and Tatum in my life. From Bria's spitfire personality and her need to push Tatum's buttons, to Tatum's drive to see Bria succeed and live up to her full potential, these two are the IT couple. They were everything I love about this trope!
Now onto why I rated this a 4 star instead of a full 5 star read. One of my biggest pet peeve's in romance novels is the 'miscommunication, trope that is often the result for a climatic moment in the love interest's lives. There was a moment in this novel, Bria was upset and her reasoning behind being upset was understandable. However, if you truly love someone the way you say you do, you don't turn your back on them during their hard time. You stand by their side and support them. My respect for Bria went down a notch during this scene.
Overall, I adored these two. I loved the endless banter, the thrive to be the best, and the relationship between Tatum and Bria. I loved the slow buildup that resulted in an explosion of lust. I enjoyed this story and I can't wait to read more from Kelsey Cheyenne in the future!
Kelsey Cheyenne is a new to me author, along with soccer romances, but I love sports romances and wanted to give this book a try. It was NOTHING like I expected. I had no idea where this story was going most of the time and I would form my own theories while I was reading and bam, it went a completely different direction.
Tatum Trevino is a soccer star, however, his entire career is in jeopardy and he is spending his time coaching a University’s woman soccer team. What he didn’t expect was the team’s captain, Bria Campbell. Bria is strong, smart and a great soccer player. Tatum instantly notices she is potential with her soccer career and takes a special interest her and pushes her when it comes to training. However, there is also a strong connection between them. They are drawn to each other, but their relationship is also forbidden.
There was loads of chemistry between Tatum and Bria, which I loved but boy, their relationship was just full of ups and downs. I was so frustrated over it at times, I was yelling at my kindle. I just wanted them to be happy, especially Bria. She deserved it. She deserved to be treated right.
Filthy Forward is full of twists and turns that will keep you guessing from the start. If you love sports romances, specially soccer romances this is one to check out.
This is part of the Cocky Hero Club and a great addition to a wonderful series. I loved this story. Great sports/older man and younger woman romance. Loved it. Tatum and Bria were so good together. Great chemistry between them. Well written and so hard to put down. I can’t wait to read more from this author.
I read an early review copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Bria is fiery loud mouth captain of a soccer team who world is turned upside down when she is paired up with Tatum, a pro soccer player who there to help her college team. Bria is immediately suspicious and don't blame her. Tatum is a star player who should be traveling with his team even injured.
She doesn't trust him and doesn't believe him when she offered extra training to make her even better player. Bria sees him at as older figure that she can wreck havoc with messing his mind.
Turns out she right to question things and this plays out like a headline. It gets really messy and the way Audrey handles things for Tatum is questionable of her character. It's bit of twist that I didn't like and deducted from the book as it ends up messing up majorily with Bria and her own life.
It's weak the way Bria's is handled and honestly could of been a double standard if the truth didn't come to life. It's not my favourite twist and could have be handled better as I loved the couple aside from the major problem hanging over them both .
I was not expecting to enjoy this book as much as I did. The reason for that is because it mixes two of my least favorite things; Sports (other than baseball) and age-gap. Boy, was I wrong. It was filled with great character interaction, hot chemistry that was off the charts, and two headstrong characters that brought the best and sometimes the worst out in each other. It was in the discovery of the worst behaviors that helped them see that they both needed to be better.
Highly recommend this book because Tatum and Bria were explosive.
Much like my title says, this book makes a bunch of turns and keeps you guessing. Bria is a strong willed hardheaded soccer player, and that drives Tatum nuts. He see potential, but she has to step out of her own way. This book had me hooked and is definitely one of my fave reads of the year!
Kelsey picked the perfect name for this book Filthy Forward! The sexy filth that came from Tatums mouth to the forwardness that came from Bria’s. This book has it all, from the laugh out loud moments to the two twist I didn’t see coming until over half way and the very end. This book captivated me and held my attention to where I simply couldn’t put it down.
This is the first book that I have read by this author and is part of the cocky hero club series and is a great addition to this series. This book will defiantly have you guessing all the way through and the twists that this author has put in this story were fabulous and the reader will most certainly not see them coming.
Tatum is a very cocky alpha male who is very sexy and at the moment is hiding out from things in his life.. He is part of the couching team and when he accepted the job he just thought it wouldn't be like any other coaching job. That is until he meets Bria the woman who throws a spanner in the works and she is something that he is defiantly was not expecting she is very beautiful. He keeps bickering with Bria , she is very feisty and for some reason he cant get her out of his head she is there to stay. She drives him crazy with how she is and he is not used to it.
Bria is a beautiful, strong willed woman and she knows exactly what she wants from life and how to get it. She loves playing her sports and is the captain of the team and all she wants to do is a good job for her team and nothing is going to get in the way of that.
This book had it all that the reader could want it had all the drama, age gap, and the shocking twists and laugh out loud moments, I thought were great that this author written. This title of this cocky hero most defiantly suited after the filthiness going on. These characters have a lot of chemistry between each other and you could feel it sizzling of the pages they were hot together. The love story and the journey that these two go on is one with many ups and downs and we are kept guessing as to how this story will play out and if they will get there very own happily ever after. These two characters are both head strong and I was rooting for them both at times and after everything I was hoping that these two could both help each other. This author written a fabulous story this book is a great addition into the cocky hero world.
To say I freaking loved this story would be an understatement. In Filthy Forward, Kelsey Cheyenne pulls out all the stops. The story of Bria and Tatum has unexpected twists, age gap romantic chemistry which melts the pages and an ending that will have you standing and applauding. Kelsey always delivers amazing female leads and in Filthy Forward she doesn’t disappoint. In Bria, Kelsey presents a sassy heroine who is so well developed that you get to experience the entire range of emotions from joy, elation to anger, heartache, and determination. You will instantly fall in love with Bria and will battle alongside her. Tatum, the professional soccer player hiding out from a secret from his past, is the Cocky Hero who’s layers are slowly peeled away bit by bit. Filthy Forward is such a joy to read that you will be racing to the end while at the same time hoping there is more. A great addition to the Cocky World.
This is so far my favorite from this set of cocky hero club books. The reason? The heroine! She's absolutely amazing. Sassy 1000%. Beautiful, clever and ambitious. That's a really good sport romance. Also forbidden romance, seeing that it's about the Capitan of the female soccer team and the temporary coatch. Their push and pull is entertaining. And also one of the best part of the whole story Well I would have liked more stolen kisses, touches and stuff like that, but even so the passion between them is out of chats. Also slow burn as hell. Omg it made me crave that moment like crazy. Well you'll absolutely meet some b***s too, who are one worse than the other! I wanted to slap them one by one! I'll be honest here. The book started really good, then at some point it slows ( a little) down, I won't say it turns borring, but it has "it's weak moment", but she will give you a reason to carry on. Overall this book is really nice, and worth a chance to be read. *ARC kindly provided by the author in exchange for an honest review*
A new to me author, I loved this story. The storyline is brilliant with two fabulous main characters- Tatum and Bria.
As my partner is way older than me (he doesn’t like me saying that lol but it’s true) I love age gap stories and this was brilliant. I was so rooting for these two but the author didn’t slow down with the twists and turns. I so wanted to shove them together.. as you can see I’m impatient but I do love the tease of a slow burn story lol
Brilliant read. Can’t wait to read more from this author.
Absolutely loved this story! A truly captivating, tumultuous relationship that tests all the boundaries of trust and honesty. Tatum is a man with so many layers and really draws you in. The dynamic relationship they share throughout is sultry, empowering.
Filthy Forward is another of those cases where it’s me, not the book. I wanted to love this one, there were certain elements I really enjoyed, but I never fell in love with it in the way I had hoped.
I think what stopped me from falling deeply for this one was the fact I never quite fell for the romance between the characters. I enjoyed them both as individuals, but I didn’t believe the romance between them. It felt forced rather than natural, and it dropped my rating down from a three-star rating to a two-star rating.
I’m sure many will love this one and fall for the characters, but I found it too difficult to believe in the romance between them.
I enjoyed reading this book about Tatum a cocky footballer who has secrets due to his time away from the game and ends up coaching a girls college soccer team and falls for Bria the captain who is spirited and gives as much as she takes. The twist and turns in this book will have you turning the pages wanting to see what happens next. This is a good book which has all the feels. This book is part of The Cocky Hero Club but can be read as a standalone. I received this book as an arc for my honest opinion.
This is an amazing off limits story. This is the first book I've read from this author and I couldn't put it down. I love how sassy Bria is and has no problem fighting back against Tatum. And OMG, the heat between these two could set the field on fire. My jaw dropped with a twist towards the end. Never had I expected what was coming. And by who. Talk about a turn of events. I will certainly be looking for more books by Kelsey Cheyenne.
Tatum and Bria is like no other sports story I have read before. It was perfect. It had the drama, age gap, friends, love and a happy ever after. The story had me hooked from the beginning and at each turn I was getting more and more sucked in and couldn’t stop reading. Just like all the other books in the cocky hero club it was perfection.
It’s Bria’s senior year and she’s team captain and ready to kick some soccer butt, until a new assistant coach walks on the field and makes her life a living hell.
Running from his own life Tatum needs somewhere to hide out and lick his wounds, this coaching job seems like the perfect thing, until he butts heads with the spunky team captain that he can’t seem to get out of his head.
This is a fast paced story about a couple who fight their own demons as well as each other but can’t seem to fight their connection.
With just enough drama and the perfect amount of steam, this book was a fun way to spend the day!
To be quite honest, I wasn't quite sure what to expect because Kelsey Cheyenne is a new author to me. But man. I absolutely loved this book! I couldn't put it down and read it faster than I was expecting.
As others said in their reviews, the twists and turns in this book will keep you guessing. There's so much going on, and just when you think you know why something happened the way that it did, you get hit with new information that turns the story on its head again.
I hated everything that Tatum went through, but I really did like his character overall. Even in the face of major adversity - and even though he comes across as a jerk at times - he works hard to make himself better and the soccer team he works with. He truly wants nothing but the best for Bria, even though he has weird ways of showing it sometimes, and I love that side of him. I also loved the way their secret relationship developed, and I hated the obstacles that got in the way (even though they were absolutely necessary to make this book the awesome read that it was). At the end of the day, what you're going to get from this book is a rollercoaster of emotions, plot twists, steam, and drama that will make it hard to put this book down.
Thank you to the author for an advanced copy of this book. I'm loving this Cocky Hero Club series, and this book is definitely no exception to that.
Score!! Tatum scores on the field and off until drama has hit his life and he has to step aside playing professional soccer to coaching a girls college soccer team. He is trying to lay low and definitely not looking to fall for the captain of the team, Bria. Tatum thinks Bria is soft when he first meets her and then finds out she is a spitfire who can be bratty and doesn’t take any crap off him or anybody. Bria thinks Tatum is sexy but thinks he shouldn’t be coaching and bossing then and she calls him out on it in front of the team. They have their battles but it was great watching them grow and challenge each other. The steam coming off these two were melting hot. His mouth was filthy and sexy. There was so much suspense and moments that you want to sit back and say “I can’t believe that just happened”. I was rooting for Tatum and Bria through the whole story. Kelsey Cheyenne definitely puts you through all the emotions in this book. I don’t know much about Soccer so I was excited that it didn’t matter and I was able to still keep up and enjoy the story. Oh, and don’t plan to do any ‘adulting’ because this book is so addicting that you can not put it down. 5 Stars! Amazing Job!
This was an intriguing romance between Bria, who is the captain of her soccer team in college, and Tatum, the famous soccer player that gets under her skin. These two had some truly great chemistry, and I loved the back and forth between these two, but it felt rushed in some places and then way too slow in others.
I liked how Bria didn't fall to her feet at the sight of Tatum like all the other women in the story, and the fact that she has a backbone made me rejoice. Tatum was definitely hot and dirty, but he also felt, .. gullible too. I felt like he would have seen what was being done to him a mile away.
These two definitely had sexual chemistry, but it was the emotional relationship that I didn't really buy into. Overall it was a good read, just not something I really loved.
**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions.**
This is a sports romance with an age-gap. It is an emotional and drama-filled romance. Bria is the captain of her soccer team in college. Tatum is a sexy, famous professional soccer player who is temporarily benched due to some personal drama. With his off time, he is acting as an assistant coach at VCU. All of the girls on the soccer team are giddy except Bria. She is quite irritated by his presence even if she can't deny that he is sexy. Tatum notices Bria's potential immediately. Bria is informed immediately that she is going to be working with Tatum one-on-one. They immediately have a combative working relationship. He pushes her beyond her limits and she doesn't appreciate it. Could there be an undercurrent of something more than coach and student beneath their banter?
This was a slow burn. The attraction doesn't happen immediately but simmers then burns but they don't act on it due to their respective positions on the team and the potential to get caught. The story has great potential and good characters but I felt that some parts (not all) were rushed, especially the end, and some were too slow. There were parts that I loved but some parts were missing something. Bria was immature at times but I did like her sass and her determination. Tatum was hot with his tattoos and dirty talk but I found him to be gullible with his situation which seemed to contradict his persona. All in all, it was a good read but the relationship wasn't fully believable. I recommend that you read it yourself and form your own opinion.

A romance set in the world of soccer only this time the soccer is centred around Bria our Captain of the College soccer team and the off the pitch drama is curtesy of Tatum Trevino a star of the LA Elite one of the top soccer clubs in the country who due to issues surrounding him at his club has been drafted in to help the universities soccer team win the championship. I am not sure how much of an age-gap book this is as Bria is 22 and Tatum isn't that much older!
From the moment Bria meets Tatum he rubs her up the wrong way and not in the good way. Bria doesn't like the fact Tatum has been drafted in and she knows there is more to Tatum's story than is being said.
Tatum needs to lie low and keep out of trouble but he wasn't expecting the bundle of blonde hair blue eyes of the star player of the team who challenges him at ever turn.
While all the rest of Bria's team is swooning over Tatum Bria is shooting flames. But soon those flames turn into something more. Can Tatum trust Bria with his secret? Is there someone who is just waiting at a chance to take Bria down?
And how will Bria feel when the truth finally is revealed.
The chemistry between Bria and Tatum is really good and the storyline solid even though I am British and soccer is a sport I love there was just a little to much of it hence the reason I rated it slightly down. But overall well worth the read!
Filthy Forward is a sports romance that is forbidden, with Tatum being the coach of Bria’s women’s soccer team that she is the captain of. Theirs is a story full of twists and turns and one that you will think will go left but it takes a hard right. Tatum and Bria are at times frustrating in such a way you will find yourself yelling at your kindle. The chemistry between these two is electric and the push and pull and ups and downs keep you guessing and on the edge of your seat. Bria’s character is strong and sassy and one that you can’t help but admire and love.
Stood up by her prom date.. Can Mina over come her feelings of rejection by the hands of Holden? We can only hope she has. Fast forward 10 years ... Stuck in an elevator. EMTs called. Who arrives to rescue her you might ask? Holden , yep that’s right . Her prom date from 10 years ago. Can she get over her anger, hurt and rejection? (Btw , I love what she does when she gets rescued!! ) Will 10 years of maturity clear the air?
Thus book is a very quick read. I read it I one afternoon. Oh and it’s part of the Cocky Hero series!! Another hit fir this series.
Kelsey Cheyenne just took the best of all the filthy and delicious things I love and put them into one fabulous book that captivated me from the moment I started it until the very last page. Tatum Trevino was this amazing soccer star. A god on and off the field. When something happens that sends him hiding out and coaching University, women’s soccer team. He thought all would be smooth sailing. What he wasn’t prepared for was Bria Campbell. The gorgeous and sassy, captain of the team. She has talent and challenges him in ways he couldn’t have ever predicted. When he sets up some after hours, one on one training with Bria, sparks start flying. They have chemistry and banter for days. I’m talking off the charts. I loved this girl. Her fierce tenacity and the way she verbally sparred with Tatum. Good Gravy was it ever hot!! 🔥 But this book also has some twists that definitely threw me for a loop a time or two. I had some utter WTF moments and had to show some serious restraint to not chuck my Kindle across the room. I loved the push and pull and the sexiness. The unexpected, all of it. A-ma-zing!! Another great one in the Cocky Hero Club!! Grab this book today!! 🙌🏻
Filthy Forward was not a book on my TBR. It wasn't even on my radar until I saw a blogger friend's review for it. Her review was so positive and spiked my interest. Since it was on KU and sounded like something I was in the mood for, I gave it a try. It worked out well for me.
This is my first attempt at reading something by Kelsey Cheyenne. I loved the writing style. I was immediately pulled in and connected with the characters. I liked Bria and Tatum. Both got a POV, so it was cool to hear their thoughts about each other. They didn't like each other at the beginning, so it was fun for them to get to know each other and develop a deep connection. Their fall into love felt natural.
Another thing I really loved was the soccer. Personally, I'm missing soccer in my life right now, so reading about it felt like watching it. I loved that practice, training, and games were involved. It was even cooler that it was Bria who was the main focus of it, even though Tatum was also a soccer star.
Normally, I'm not a fan of romances that have a student-teacher feel. This is one with a player-coach thing going on. I don't think I would have liked it at all if 1) the player wasn't an adult in college, 2) the coach was an assistant who wasn't much older and had only just joined the team, and 3) there wasn't anything illegal about their relationship. It did still make me cringe a bit at times, but probably because I will never b 100% okay with a relationship in this dynamic. Filthy Forward actually reminded me a bit of R.S. Grey's Scoring Wilder. If you liked the tone of that book, you would probably like this one.
The only other thing that I have mixed feelings about was the conflict. It involved a lot of miscommunication. If miscommunication or lack of communication bugs you in a romance, this one probably won't be for you. I could let it go because there were so many things that twisted and combined to caused the issue that I found entertaining.
Oh! And I shouldn't forget -- The "filthy" in the title didn't exactly fit for me. Tatum actually seemed like a stand up person. I guess maybe it was just catchy or portrayed what his reputation might have been prior to this book. That word might stop some people from reading, so I thought I should mention it.
Overall, this was a great introduction to Kelsey Cheyenne's writing for me. I would definitely read another book by this author. It was a fun sports romance.
Tatum is that sexy older guy with muscles & tattoos that make any book boyfriend PERFECTION. However, the character that stole the show was Bria. She's a college student, soccer player... and she is STRONG. When reading this book, you experience everything with her so deeply because the characters' backgrounds were well-defined. Obviously, you expected Bria and Tatum to end up together, as their chemistry was melting the pages & their wit and personalities kept them toe-to-toe. However, there were twists and turns that kept you guessing throughout the book. I thought I had the storyline figured out and I was stunned with the final twist.
The combination of a strong female lead, the undeniably sexy older guy & the forbidden romance makes this book HOT. All of that, plus the twists, will keep me coming back for more.
I loved Cocky Bastard by Vi and Penelope and this was the perfect addition to their world.
