As a top journalist, I'll do anything for a story. The hotter the story, the better. And hot's just what I get when Stone Black from the Fire Station 128 came into my life.
Love wasn't part of the plan, but those gorgeous green eyes and a hose big enough to put out my fire won me over. I try to keep it physical, my career allowing no time for romance, but I soon learn there's more than meets the eye with Stone. He's not just one of New City's finest fireman, he's a loving single father. Now, he's ready to tear down my professional boundaries, to take what he wants.
Soon I'm dangerously close to my story, and only Stone can protect me. And when I find out I'm carrying his baby, it's clear that if I'm not careful I just might get burned.
This is the second book in the Hot Boys books and trust me they are seriously hot.
Callie is a reporter looking to make a name for herself, she loves working at the paper she is right now but she doesn’t just want to write the society pages, she knows to further her career she is going to have to go out there and find the story it’s not going to come to her. When she spots that there seem to be a possible connection to arson in a recent spate of fires in the town she convinces her editor to get her an interview with a firefighter who has been on the scene, he gets the measure of Callie from the start and shuts her down but Callie makes it clear that’s not the end of the matter and so their chemistry begins, convincing Mike to help her with her investigation they conspire together and look for links and after a night of passion that gets out of control they agree to ignore their growing attraction however it’s not long before neither can contain the passion they feel for each other, but when things get complicated will Mike stay by her side or abandon her as she expects?
Mike is a single father with a young son, he’s been the player and those days are far behind him and the only thing that he is taking seriously now is being a dad and a firefighter. But when Callie turns up and tries to pump him for information she confirms the thoughts that he has been having about the recent fires being deliberate. His attraction to Callie is growing the more time that they spend together and watching her interact with his son Jason is something that is special and Mike starts to think that they may have a future together. But when danger strikes his beloved son and the woman he loves can he save them both and there is a complication neither saw coming?
This book and the previous have both been exciting and steamy with a side of suspense. I have no qualms recommending this series or this author. Highly enjoyable books.
Another exciting story out of Fire Station 128. The author has written another suspenseful romance that will melt your heart while having you on edge as our hero’s chase another possible arsonist.
Callie is a reporter for one of Manhattan's socialite papers. Tired of covering society fluff pieces, she gets the ok to do a firefighter piece in hopes of getting a scoop on the string of recent fires involving businesses around town. Upon arriving at Station 128, Callie interviews Mike, one of the station’s crew chiefs. But Mike sees right through her scam of wanting to write a behind the scenes piece at the station. He senses right off she is nosing for info on the recent fires and shuts her down. And so the tussle begins.
Mike is a single dad with a young son and he takes his job and his role as a father seriously. Callie, is married to her career and has no room in her life for men. However the sexual attraction between these two is huge and hard to ignore. Even though Mike shut her down when they met, Callie continues the attempt to get her story out of Mike (and trust me when I say the attraction grows). After giving in to one night of passion, they agree to ignore their attraction and work together to solve the mystery of the fires and in the process get Callie her story of a lifetime.
The sassy back and forth banter between these two adds a humorous touch to this very well written romantic suspense. Add to that Jason, Mike’s funny and oh so charming son, and the secrets both Mike and Callie have involving their pasts and you’ll soon see why I highly recommend grabbing up “Scorchin’” ASAP. While the book can be easily read as a standalone, if you haven’t read “Smokin’”, book 1 of the series, I highly recommend it as well. Both books are packed with Hot firemen action with lots of romance and suspense. I give this one 2 Thumbs Up and 5 stars.
Holy Heck. What another wonderful story. Scorchin’ is the second book in the Hot Boys Series. This book can be read as a stand-alone. Scorchin’ has romance and heat, but it also has mystery. I like that so far each book in this series has had an underlying mystery. The plot of this book is pretty grand. I need me a Stone. This book is a single dad romance mixed in with a firefighter romance with a side of mystery. When fires break out across the city, firefighters do their job. What happens when there seems to be more to these fires than meets the eye? Add in a reporter looking for her big break and you have an amateur detective novel. Callie is a single-minded reporter. She is determined to find out the mystery behind the city-wide fires. She finds an opening when she has a chance to interview a firefighter. I love how she is determined to make her dreams come true, but I also kind of hated her for how she went about it. Still, I liked her for the most part. Stone is a single dad. I love how he puts his child first. I also love how much he cares about his job. Scorchin’ is an appropriate title for this book. The heat in this book is definitely scorching. These characters have some real chemistry. Even when they are denying it, they heat up the pages. Add in the sense of danger blanketing this book and that just adds to the heat. I think this aspect is perfect. I really liked the writing style. The story is told in a dual point of view. The pace of the book is steady. I liked the anticipation and danger. The mystery just adds a layer the book needed. The characters are great. I liked checking in with the other characters as well. Overall, this is a great book. I cannot wait to see who we get to see next. I love hot firefighters and this series has plenty of them. I like that each story has had a mystery in it as well. That, and each mystery is different. I am interested to see where the author takes this series. Ratings: Plot: 5/5 Characters: 5/5 Heat: 5/5 Writing Style: 6/5 Overall: 5/5
Rush has brought back the heat with Scorchin’; a single, hot Fireman with a cute kid in tow. Stone Black, he just sounds bad ass takes on reporter Callie Sullivan. Eager to lose her celebrity ‘who is wearing who’ tag she decides to flash a smile and hope to get some information into some suspicious fires around the area and write the story of the year, what she didn’t count on was Stone’s smarts and quick to the point attitude. When Ethan starts to piece together recent events and he decides that having Callie on his team wouldn’t be such a bad idea. when one thing leads to another Stone tries to get her on his team permanently.
Callie is a take-action kind of woman, she waiting on no man and decides early on that for her to achieve her goals nothing can stand in her way. Stone is keeping a big secret, one that keeps bringing him down into the darkest time of his life, with his son to keep him going he dumps the one-night attitude and focuses on being the best role model he can be for his son, Jason.
Callie and Stone have an instant attraction, they both can feel the magnetic pull and brings them to scorching levels, leaving you hot under the collar. Rush has reeled me in, I could not put this book down, after reading Smokin’ I couldn’t wait to get my next Fireman fix.
I personally loved this book it was the perfect mix of drama, mystery and heat. If you haven’t read book 1 of the HOT Boys series I recommend you do even though this is a standalone you will not be wanting to miss out on Fire Station 128’s finest.
The second book in the Hot Boys series, this is my first book by this author. This worked perfectly as a standalone as I didn't feel like I was missing out on anything by starting the series here.
I'm on the fence with this book, but positives first. I liked the premise here, as firefighter, single dad and surprise baby are all among some of my favorite storylines. I also liked the setup as it had some nice mystery/suspense elements, and I thought the author did a good job with the pacing. I enjoyed the smarta$$ style banter between a lot of the different characters, and there was tons of heat between Stone and Callie. The interactions with Stone's son were funny and sweet, and added a lot to the story for me.
Now for the downsides. I was slow to warm up to both Callie and Stone, and I would have liked a little more depth on many of the characters. Also, I had kind of a wtf moment when Stone left his son with Callie--it just seemed way too soon to me. The plot had some major holes. For example, the characters kept talking about the NYPD investigating possible arson cases, while my understanding is that arson investigations are handled by FDNY Fire Marshals--it's the kind of factual error that pulled me out of the story every time it came up. And the plot train pretty much went completely off the believability rails for me about two-thirds of the way in.
If you're looking for a cute story with plenty of humor and heat, and you don't worry too much about the plot, this could be a story for you. For me, this was a story with a lot of potential that just missed some of the marks. 2.5 stars
Stone is a drop dead gorgeous firefighter and a single dad. He's not a push over, has given up his bed hoping ways, has street smarts and a past he doesn't like to talk about. Callie is a young hungry for success journalist. She is drop dead gorgeous, also has a past, is not looking for love and dreams of getting away from her current writing assignment and having the chance to write smothing more meaty.
The pros for me - Good chemistry, interesting characters, good interactions, a bit of mystery, and some well written moments.
The cons for me - Unprotected sex and no talk of protection at all, for me personally a big fat NO on leaving a child in the hands of someone you really don't know, and taking your child along on your investigation....NO!
I did enjoy reading about Stone and Callie and I've given this more stars than book 1. I am voluntarily leaving this honest review after receiving an ARC. 3.5 stars
Holy Hot Fireman!!!!!!!! I need me a hose down after reading this book. Lord I loved every moment of this book.Stone is the man, a single father and a firefighter and an all around great guy. He holds his ground when it comes to Callie. At first he holds her off but in the end the two of them can't deny the attraction they have for each other. It is smoldering hot and there is no way of putting it out.
I loved the whole back story which brought these two together. Callie is crazy for chasing an arsonist. Lord that girl has balls of Steele and wants to find out the truth about all these fires. This is a book that keeps you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what is going to happen next. As you are reading you are trying to figure out who the arsonist is and why he or she is doing it.
By the end of the book I was left breathless with all that had happened and Stone and Callie are my new favorite book couple. This is a must read series!
In this book we meet Stone who is a snarky firefighter, single dad, not looking for love and Alpha protector. Callie who is a sassy young journalist looking for her breakout story and afraid to love. Both characters have a past that they need to overcome to see what is in front of them while looking into a string of suspicious fires breaking out across the city.
The chemistry for these two is off the charts but the day to day fell flat for me. I think that there should have been a little more involved before he left his son with her, I think that the fire station takes a backseat to the love story and I would have like to have seen more interaction with the guys at the house.
I liked the premise of the story and the drama with the investigation, but I think it just needed a little more overall. I voluntarily reviewed this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
Callie is a reporter and is really tired of doing puff pieces. So when she gets the chance to do a story on the fire fighters she jumps especially when there's been some fired recently. Mike is a fire fighter and a single father when Callie shows up at his station for her story he knows that she not really telling the truth about what her story is about. They fight their attraction while they work together to figure out what's going on with all the recent fires. They realize all too soon that they can't fight the temptation to be together when they are near each other so much. Will they discover what's going on with the fires?
This is a great story once I started it I couldn't put it down. The chemistry between Mike and Callie is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this to any book lover.
OLIVIA HITS PAY DIRT BABY!!! Wow! True to form Olivia brings this one screaming through the gates. She has a fire so hot you need to watch it 'cause you might get burned. Armed with a strong plot, a little help from some friends and love in your heart, it feels like you can rule the world. All the twists and turns along with a few bumps in the road make for one suspense filled, nailbiting, spine tingling, adrenaline fueled, page turning, combustible players raise the stakes higher than ever. The characters are well developed and believable. Their personalities are unique with qualities and traits that balance out perfectly. The scenes are so graphic and descriptive it really pulls this magnificent read together beautifully. Olivia did a remarkable job bringing this read to life. Great job Olivia, thanks for sharing this little gal with us.
This is the second in a series. I did not read the first and I didn’t feel like I missed anything. This felt like a complete standalone book. Stone is a gorgeous, sungle dad firefighter. Callie is a beautiful, bright journalist. Somehow they manage to come together. I absolutely loved the snarky banter between them. I really liked that Callie was no nonsense and could dish it back to Stone, who was a bit of a jerk at first. I really started to warm up to him when Jason was introduced in the story. The chemistry between Callie and Stone was insane! There were a few things that were unrealistic for me. I don’t know anyone who would leave their child with someone they barely know, let alone bring them along on an investigation! I did enjoy the bit of mystery/suspense/action but, again, I wouldn’t leave my child!! I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
I absolutely fell in love with Ethan and Chloe from book one but there was just something about Stone and Callie that made this one unforgettable. I loved it from the very first page. Stone is so hot, sweet and such a good dad. He just made me melt. Callie was so talented, sweet and I think she was a perfect match for Stone. Each gave as good as they got. The chemistry was off the charts. You throw in the moments with Callie, Stone and Jason, Stone's son and the book just got sweet. On top of that you put in all the drama and sleuthing that Callie and Stone did and you have yourself a heck of a book. I just could not put it down. I cannot wait to see who is next in this series. I voluntarily reviewed this book in exchange for an honest review.
Callie is a single minded reporter and she definitely thinks that something is going on with all these fires that are breaking out all over the city she normally does social interviews and sees this has her big opportunity to break into real news. Mike is a fire crew chief at Station 128 he is also a single dad and he knows that something is wrong with all these fires breaking out over Manhattan. The attraction between these two is instant and rages but they both come from different places her job is her life he is a committed family man but as they work together to solve who is the arsonist the attraction between them can't be denied You have scorchin scenes coming up this book is well titled. Will they solve the fires and will they give into their lust and will it lead to a HEA
This title is so appropriate it not only can be used for the chemistry between Mike and Callie but also the mystery behind the fires in downtown businesses. Callie is a reporter who is tired of doing fluff pieces and is thrilled when she is given the go ahead of looking into the rash of fires. Mike is a station crew chief who is also a single dad. Everyone will want a Mike in their lives as you will fall for him in the way he is with his son. Callie and Mike have off the charts attraction but fight it. Their banter will make you smile and agree they belong together. The arson storyline brings a twist to their romance and pushes them along to admitting their attraction. This is definitely a book I'd recommend to all. I was given this book for an honest voluntary review.
Stone Black loves his jobs as a single dad and a firefighter. Callie is determined to write a big enough story to get her name out there. Instantly their personalities clash, but can they work together to solve what is happening? Will Stone find something that has been missing? Will Callie discover there is more to life than work?
LOVED these two! Loved how instantly they were like a fire and how they couldn't help what they felt. Stone was a great dad and I loved how when it came down to it he rolled with everything that was happening between him and Callie. I didn't blame Callie for being scared, but was happy when she took the leap and took a chance. Great read!

I had high hopes this book would be better than the last, but alas again this one fell short. The relationship between Callie and Stone was way too unbelievable for me... who offers to look after someone's child after being with them a couple of times?? The timeframe was off and the unprotected sex? Really in this day and age, who jumps straight into bed with someone with no mention of protection.. it may not be the sexy thing to do but it's unrealistic not too! Also again the storyline and the writing style put me off, so much so I nearly didn't finish. I did however persevere and finally finished but it never did get any better for me.

This is the second book in The Hot Boys series by Olivia Rush and, yes, the book is scorching as hell as the title of the book. Scorchin is a romantic suspense story that revolves around Callie, a journalist and Mike, a single dad firefighter, they meet when Callie decides to write investigate story on current back to back fires that occur in Manhattan. In the beginning though they dislike each, they sexual attraction eventually brings them together and the hit the heat. I received this book as an ARC, but I really loved the story, the chemistry between Callie and Mike was super hot and sometimes their argument made me laugh out loud. This made me leave the review voluntarily.
Olivia Rush's Scorchin' is the second book in her Hot Boys series and another great read from Fire Station 128. Callie, a red headed independent journalist, catches wind of the business fires that Station 128 has been dealing with. While Callie is making an effort to break out of socialite journalism and interviewing fire fighters for a "piece about the station," she meets Stone Black, single dad and hot firefighter. This book has a good storyline and character development and off the charts sexual tension. Good read.

This is the second book in The Hot about Series and can completely standalone but do yourself the favor and read the first book also there that good. Sweet and sexy with a mystery add into the store. Sallie is a reporter trying to get the story to launch her career when the city is hot with a bunch of fires that are more than just fires she knows there a story. Stone is a single dad and a firefighter and the perfect spurce. I loved how his child was his everything and how protective he is with Callie. A definite must read!
This is book 2 to the Hot Boys series and wow what a 🔥🔥 story. Stone is a single father and a sexy firefighter, Callie is a reporter who is determined to find out about the fires that have started all over the city. She gets her chance when she gets to interview a firefighter ( Stone ) but he knows what she’s up to and he tries to knock her down from the story but Callie is determined to find out what’s going on. I enjoyed reading this story and the chemistry between Callie and Stone is scorching hot, a great romance and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.
Excellent reading! Wonderful story that was well written. Many elements were contained in this tale: drama, suspense, mystery, action and adventure and a beautiful romance. The characterizations were great, much detail and characters grew within the context of the story. After finishing the novel this reader felt "full" of warmth and love.
Highly recommended read!
I voluntarily received an advance review copy of this novel and I am leaving an honest and unbiased review. I have no affiliation to this author.
Stone Black is a firefighter at FDNY's Station 128 and a single father and has no interest in women. But Callie wants to interview a fireman for the prize story she wants to write about the similar fires in NYC. Callie's boss puts a call into Stone's boss and the two are put together. Although Stone rebuffs her at the first meeting, it isn't long before the two are working together to solve the arson mysteries and falling in love along the way. Great chemistry and good investigative work leading to danger and a great story for Callie!
Scorchin' by Olivia Rush is a steamy ready with sweet romance and a little bit of suspense too. I really enjoyed these characters. Stone is scorchin! He's also an alpha protector and a great dad too. Callie is the quintessential independent woman, afraid of love and relationships. The development of their relationship is interesting. The interactions between these two are both verbally and action packed (both in and out of the bedroom). Overall a well written, egaging and entertaining book!
Scorchin’ is the second book in this series and I enjoyed it more than the first. Aside from some details that don’t quite bode true in real life and some unlikelihood for certain scenes, the story itself was entertaining. There are elements of drama and suspense too aside from the standard feels. Would recommend. I received this book for a voluntary, completely honest and non incentivized review.
Wow!! I love the second book in this series. You are taken back to Fire Station 128, this time to hero Stone Black. Callie is a reporter trying to get her big story. She never meant to be attracted to Stone, nor did she set out to mislead him about her true intention for her story. The sparks fly when they meet and soon they can't deny the chemistry. When things get dangerous Stone realizes how much she means to him and will do anything to protect her. It's so good!!
I did like this one a bit better than the first book but still several issues with the storyline. What single Dad already raising a child does not even think about birth control? What Dad just turns over his child for the day to a women he just met and slept with? Again, police aren’t called or used when they should have been but instead a fireman and a reporter jump in to solve the mystery of suspicious activity. Not a believable story for me!
Callie and Stokes are one hot couple and together set the pages on fire. Great little mystery sprinkled with a hate to love relationship. The author, Olivia Rush did an excellent job developing her storyline and characters and we the readers benefit from her hard work. (Note: I am volunteering to leave a review of this ARC book.)
Callie is a journalist looking to write more than fluff stories. She gets permission to interview the firefighters in the Station. She meets the Chief named Mike. Mike is a single dad and dedicated to his job. Callie has no time for love or men. These two have instant attraction that only grows stronger after a one night stand. A great read!
