What do you do when you receive a wedding invitation from the one girl you always thought you would marry?
Sam- Lauren and her twin brother were my best friends growing up. She captured my heart from the moment I first saw her dancing through the sprinkler. I always kept my feelings hidden though, standing back as she dated other guys, afraid to cross that line and risk losing her. I even went out with a few girls myself, but no one ever measured up. Then that dreaded day arrived, and I knew I’d lost her forever.
Lauren- Sam was always my constant. My rock. My best friend. That feeling, the one I only got around him, had never been matched by another man. But Sam never showed me he felt anything more for me than friendship, so I moved on... Now, standing at the end of the aisle, ready to walk to my forever, my mind spins with what-ifs. Do I keep moving forward, knowing a man who loves me is at the end? Or do I risk it all, for the one man I’ve always wanted, and hope he wants me in return.

3 Bringing the Music to Life Stars * * * Spoiler Free So how many times have you listened to a song and something plays in your mind...There was a time when there were No Music Videos! People would listen to songs either on a record player, on the radio, or in person. The music was key and our minds would conjure up whatever the lyrics and music brought to us through our own experiences.
Shocking!
Now we have music videos which are produced by the artists and their management teams. Sometimes they are films of the artist performing live to crowds of fans or they can be different studio shots. But mostly they are now concept videos like mini-movies and depending on the artist, popularity, and budget, they can burn images and stories in creative minds.
The song seemed to follow her around on her car radio... when she started her car... would be the next song to come up or just ended playing wherever she was...With all of this exposure to this song with meaningful lyrics, it was only natural an idea for a book/series would be planted.
Samantha Lind gives us a sweet tale of two friends who grew up together and each held the belief secretly that in the end, they should be together. Because neither felt they could share their feelings, different paths happened for them.
In the end, though, there is a leap of faith. We get all of it, from the major confrontation and then seeing how it all started. Lind has taken this idea of music which stimulates stories and will be linking them in this umbrella of Lyrics and Love.

This was my first book by this author and though it combines two of my favorite romantic tropes (best friend's to lovers/ bff's little sister), I just couldn't get into it. Maybe if I was in the mood for a slow burn or something sweet but I was NOT in the mood for that and the story was decidedly too lackluster for me. Even the one love scene I did stick around for left me feeling kind of . . .meh. . .
I think the part that was so tough for me to swallow was how TAME everything was. First of all, it annoyed me that the hero and heroine had been best friends and neighbors for 19 years all the while harboring feelings for each other that neither of them decides it may be pertinent to reveal until her wedding day. Ugh!
Call it the realist or the cynic in me but I can't help but agonize over all the money that has been spent on this wedding that never happened all because these two fools couldn't get their heads out of their asses. Yes, Lauren (the heroine) was in a relationship with her fiance Brad for 8 years prior to the wedding that never was so it would have been a bit awkward for Sam (the hero) to beg her "Hey, don't marry this dude, I LOVE YOU!" However what about the span of about four years BEFORE she even met Brad when Sam KNEW he loved this girl and still said nothing? Nor did she say anything to him? Pussies, both of them.
Then my other issue was how tame EVERYONE reacted to the called off wedding. No screaming, no shouting, no thrown fists, not even any tears (except for Lauren as she made her dash away from the wedding venue). I just felt like the reaction of everyone-- from the jilted groom to the parents stuck footing the bill for this costly affair-- with regard to the halted nuptials were just too rational and civilized. I really wanted at least ONE heated "HOW CAN YOU FUCKING DO THIS?????" reaction.
The straw that broke the camel's back for me was the fact that this girl calls off her wedding in dramatic flair, runs off to be with this other dude (who admits he has felt the same way about her for years), they go to his hotel to talk and decide what to do next and still don't even KISS??? Ok, so maybe my slutty little heart was HOPING for some sexy times as a culmination of all these YEARS of repressed feelings but I would have been happy with at least a little making out. Nope! She takes a shower, changes out of her wedding gown and then spends the night in his hotel room with zero further activity other than conversation about their favorite childhood memories. It was at that point that I KNEW I wouldn't be finishing the book but I still stuck around for the first sex scene because, again, my slutty heart. I probably shouldn't have bothered.
I'm sure this would be a wonderful read for those wanting a slow burn with a little bit of steam but this was just not what I was in the mood for. Moving on!!!
Marry Me was an entertaining read although guessing what was going to happen wasn't difficult for me. I really wanted to love this book. I truly did, but honestly, I just didn't. In my opinion, the characters were a bit bland and boring. There was next to no drama or angst. Basically it is just your average run of the mill seemingly perfect love story. On a more positive note, I really enjoyed the pace of the book. It is very easy to read in one sitting and would be perfect for a nice summer day on the beach. It also has plenty of sexy time, which I will say is steamy hot. The chemistry between the two leads is absolutely electric.
For me, this book had a lot of potential, but it simply didn't live up to my expectations. I know many people will probably disagree with me, but in my opinion, it was lacking in certain areas. But you will just have to give it a read and decide for yourself. I am in no way criticizing the author. In fact, I'm not opposed to reading more of her work in the future. It's just that some books work for you and others don't. This story wasn't my cup of tea, but please don't let my review sway you from giving it a read. It might be exactly what you are looking for.
This was the third book I read by Samantha Lind. My biggest issue with this book was the conflict was resolved at the beginning then the rest of the book was about two people falling in love. Which is real life but I usually read these books knowing that there will be conflict that the characters will have to overcome to be together again. In this case the “conflict” which everyone seemed to just take in stride was over and done so early that I felt the rest of the book was almost not needed. The saving grace for this book, though, were the characters. I liked Sam and Lauren and the fact that they grew up together. I just wish there was a little more depth to the story.
Oh boy where do I even begin? I adored this book in so many ways. Friends from childhood become lovers and it had all kinds of feels. I will not go to far into the plot because I don't want to ruin it. This is the first Samantha Lind book I've read and she's very new to me. It won't be my last book by Samantha. Her writing was like fluid and had me turning page to page. This book was beautifully written. Characters Sam & Lauren are just written perfectly. I have to admit I had a little fictional character crush on Sam. Such a gentleman and his love for Lauren. Ahhh I'd read this this book all over again. I just loved it. I'd definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves a friends to lovers story and loves a happy ending with all kinds of feels.
This book was awesome! The inspiration behind the book really fits with the story and I couldn’t help falling in love with this book.
~~~~~~~~~~Tracy's ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Review~~~~~~~~~~
Can I just say first off that this story was so amazing. I loved how the author created this story and the series that this one started. I honestly can't wait to read more. In this book you have two best friends since age nine Lauren "Ren" and Sam. As you read their story of love it just wraps around you and you never want to let go. I loved how the progression of the story and nothing was rushed it all happened at the time it was supposed to. I loved the struggle that was portrayed with both of the main characters as it brought more depth to the story and made me love them more. The supporting characters were so great as well I loved Meg and Dave so much. This book brought out so much emotion in me while reading that I know it will be a story that will remain with me for years to come. Can't wait for the next book and song.
Wow! When I read that Samantha Lind had brought one of my favourite Thomas Rhett songs ‘Marry Me’ to life within the pages of a book I was instantly intrigued.
I’m so glad I finally got time to get lost in the wonderful story she created, it was sweet, sassy and the ultimate best friends to lovers romance that made you fall even deeper the further you delved into the story.
I’m sure if Thomas Rhett reads it he will be very proud of the continuation to the epic love song he created, it fit flawlessly with the feel and the characters I adored every second of it!
Sam and Lauren have been best friends since they were kids, both feeling more than friendship for the other, but never wanting to say anything for fear of rejection. Until Lauren’s wedding day when Sam can’t watch the girl he loves walk down the aisle to someone else, and Lauren can’t marry Brad when she can’t stop thinking it should be Sam.
A sweet, though sad in the beginning, story of love and friendship and taking a chance on the future you want no matter what may come.
Being a fan of Thomas Rhett and this author, I was excited to see this new series would be based upon Lyrics and Love. We all listen to the words and can at times relate to the song, you imagine what the video would be like and then are disappointed when the video at times doesn’t even match the lyrics. Well we don’t have to be disappointed with this story cause the words in this story held true to the lyrics in the song. I’m always curious on the inside story of a famous couple and heard tidbits of how Thomas and Lauren became and since we will never know the full deets this satisfies me. Loved the irony that her name was Lauren. Haha. For many of us, we have the one who got away or the one we watch from afar so as you read the story you kinda ask yourself, “if you were in this predicament what would you do?” Do you stay with a man who loves you and because it’s a comfortable relationship or do you risk it all and go with your heart and want? Whether right or wrong the decision is never an easy one. Sam and Lauren were BF along with her twin brother growing up. Keeping hush is never easy but wanting to avoid ruining a friendship if the feelings are not replicated is a big one. You feel the hurt feelings these characters endured as well as the love they both felt for each other. It was so much more than friendship love. Lauren fell into an easy relationship with someone and while Sam was her all taking that next step just wasn’t something that either felt ready to do. Settling is sometimes OK, but others no so much. Is it wrong that they waited until the big day? Maybe, but let’s face it sometimes it’s those big days that give us the BIG wake up call. Brad may be have been blindsided to a point, but as you read the story you can see that he may not have been so blind he just turned a blind eye. Hence the reason, Love is blind! I loved this story and cannot wait to see which other songs will be used to bring us the next story! Every time you hear the song, “Marry Me” now you get to think of “Marry Me” 2.0 (Thomas/Lauren-song & Sam/Lauren-book). Having this story told from dual POV allows you to understand both sides of their story. While the song may clue you in to where this story is headed, you still want to know what Lauren decides. Does she stay or go with her heart?
Oh Ms. Lind! You continue to entertain me with your words.
Marry Me, inspired by a country song. Which I will admit, I am not a country fan, but I listened to this song a few times as I was reading. It was a lovely song!
This story of Sam and Lauren was sweet, it was steamy and it was a lovely story!
Lauren was about to marry her college sweetheart, but something was holding her back. Her childhood friend Sam was running through her thoughts and she knew she had to follow her heart.
Sam has loved Lauren since they were children. But he never confessed his feelings for her. I could imagine his anguish when he was trying to be there for her at her wedding. But he could only take so much.
Sam and Lauren knew each other so well. Sam knew to give Lauren the space she needed and Lauren knew when to grab what she wants.
Ms. Lind writes the sweetest stories. Sometimes you need an escape from your life, a breath of fresh air, and Ms. Lind delivers an escape from reality to the comforting words her stories. I have been an avid follower of her's since her first book. And I will continue to be!
I can't wait to see what she comes out with next!!
Sam, Lauren and her brother have been best friends since they were little. I love a friends to lovers story, especially when its childhood friends to lovers. I am ALL IN! Lauren and Sam has loved each other secretly forever ago. They just haven't told each other. Now, its all come to head when Lauren is engaged, and Sam is freaking out.
The story starts out at the day before her wedding day, and Sam is on the ultimate sad train. There are flashbacks of their lives throughout the beginning of the story. It was really sweet. If you haven't watched the video for "Marry Me" by Thomas Rhett, this book will catch you a little blindly, but if you have, the author created her own telling from the song.
Sam and Lauren are meant to be. Its just a matter of telling each other before its too late. I loved both characters and how much history they had and how much love they have for each other when they finally got together. You always want that sweet happy ever after and this book had it all.
Samantha Lind has been a go to author for all things sweet for me for a while now, but Marry Me takes the cake! I adored the idea of a single song inspiring a book and after reading the blurb I already had a feeling this was going to be good, but this book surpassed good and went straight to great! Low on the angst heavy on the swoon I melted right into this book with little hearts floating around my head. Saying Sam and Lauren are sweet together is an understatement. These two are the epitome of best friends and lovers. You could feel the love they had pouring off the pages as they found their way to each other. Reading this is like surrounding yourself in a blanket of feel good warm and fuzzy sweetness and I couldn’t get enough!
If you read the blurb you know there have to be tears shed.. And there were. I wasn't sure how in would handle the heartbreak in this book, but it was necessary to get to the end. Lauren and Sam are just meant to be, but the huge obstacles they faced were so heavy on my heart. Being in love with each other their whole lives, and watching your soul go through life without you had to be difficult, but this book defined love.
If you have heard the song Marry Me, by Thomas Rhett, then you know what to expect, but this exceptional writing just brought the song to life. I voluntarily reviewed this book from the author, and it is a must read. No regrets here!!
Samantha Lind is a great romance author I always buy her books as soon as soon as they hit Amazon. But Marry me was not my favorite. The writing is great as always but the storyline was just missing something. Luren was an okay heroine I just felt so bad for Brad when he was left at the altar. Sam was amazing he made the story in my opinion. I am looking forward to reading the next book by this author.
Hero: 4.5/5 Heroine:3/5 Ending: Short epilogue no babies. Overall Rating: 3.5/5
Not keen on this to be honest. Poor Brad, the groom dumped at the altar, shame she couldn't call it off beforehand, and he still loved her despite her actions and wanted to try again. Sam for me needed more of a spine, he should have told her earlier. Their story was sweet but I kept thinking of Brad. Poor guy.
A beautiful friends to lovers story. Sam and Lauren are absolutely perfect together. Their love for each other was obvious throughout the story. A truly great must read story! I didn't want it to end!
This was my first read by this author And I have to say that she is really good. Sam's and Laurens book 2as a quick easy read. Full of Fluff and hot Sexy times. I Loved watching Childhood love find each other. What's meant to be will be and nothing we do can change that...
Got a couple of hours? You're going to want to read Samantha Lind's Marry Me. This book has just the right amount of sweet and super sexy. You'll be rooting for Lauren and Sam from page one. Enjoy!
Where do I even start with this review for this book review. I loved the story line of the characters that they were friends from childhood and then they become lovers. Seeing how you see the story line develop was fantastically written and it was lovely how you see it from both sides. This was the first book I have read by Samantha Lind and wow if this was anything to go by I'll definitely by reading more of her books in the future.
היי חברים וחברות, עם כל הכבוד לזה שאני צריכה סיפורים קצרים על מנת לסיים את האתגר שהצבתי לעצמי לשנת 2020, הם צריכים להיות סיפורים קצרים ט.ו.ב.י.ם
DNF 13%
יש פה סיפור של בין חברים לאוהבים (זה נחמד, אבל לרוב די משעמם, אני יותר בחורה של שנאה לאהבה..) אבל גם האחות של החבר הכי טוב (אני לא אוהבת, קראתי, דירגתי גבוהה... אבל אם תהיה לי בחירה בין אנשים שלא מכירים לבין חבר ואחות של... חבר ואחות של ילך לחפש את החברים שלו... לא חובבת)
וגם... אתם רציני נזכרים בזה הזה שניה לפני החתונה?! אתם מכירים 19 שנה! כאילו, היא עוד איכשהו סבבה .. הבחורה, מבינה אותה.. בערך, את מתחייבת לחיות את כל החיים (במידה ואת ה1 מתוך 10 הנשואים שאכן מצליח) עם בחור אחד... בחור שהתפשרת עליו... בסדר... אבל הבחור?! אתה מאונן עליה יותר מעשר שנים אבל לא הרגשת צורך לבדוק את העיניין? וגם, אתה אמור לבוא ולהרוס את המערכת יחסים (הפוטנציאלית טובה כי לגבר שלה היה מספיק ביצים כדי להזמין אותה לצאת) שלה ל.פ.נ.י שזה מגיע ל.ח.ת.ו.נ.ה.
אבל זו דעתי... כי בכל זאת, חתונה זה חרא יקר, ועוד כל האורחים שקנו מתנות? לא לעיניין....
Sam has been best friends with Lauren and her twin brother since childhood. They have both secretly been in love with each other for years but neither wanted to take a chance and admit it. Fast forward to her wedding day to someone else. Will she marry a man who loves her or walk away and admit her feelings?
I am fairly new to Samantha Lind so didn't have any idea what I would get. This is a sweet, best friends to lovers story. I hated that Brad was hurt as he was a good guy. Wish the H/h would have been brave enough to admit their love sooner. It's a slow burn story, not leave one guy and immediately jump into a new relationship. Loved that her family was supportive and didn't hold it against Sam that plans changed. Loved the series is inspired by music that left an impression on the author in some way. On to book 2.
Sweet! I've volunteered to review this book for United Indie Book Blog. Marry Me is the first book in the Lyrics and Love series. This is Lauren and Sam's story. Lauren and her brother had been best friends with Sam since they moved in next door. Lauren was about to marry her college sweetheart, but something was holding her back. Sam has loved Lauren since they were children. They are so perfect for each other. But can they see that before it's too late? I love the refresh feeling that you get when you read a softer side of romance that will have your swooning, smiling, and head over heels in love. This book reads quick and has a great ending. This book was beautifully written. I'd definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves a friend to lovers' story. Can’t wait to read more of this new series! Keep up the awesome work Samantha!
This is basically the video for the song written as a story with the authors imaginings of what comes after. Memories are tied into verses from the song and even the main male character's name is the same as in the video. It would have been great if the story encompassed more of the song. If those chapters were drawn out more. The writing is more telling the reader the story, than drawing them in and showing it to them. Lots of "that's", "justs", "considerings", and "as I's", making the writing on the passive side. The dialogue is very formal for young adults, not many contractions used, often repetitive from either point of view and overly explanatory. Its a.good premise. There are dozens of songs with amazing videos I'd love to read as books or watch as movies. And this is a valiant effort, but it doesn't quite hit the mark.
This is the 2nd book I've read by this author. There will not be a 3rd. This book was as mundane as the 1st. Nothing happens. No drama at all. No arc. She had the perfect opportunity to add some intrigue to the story by having Brad try everything to get Ren back, but after 1 lame attempt he completely disappears. After that it's just the same sex scene over and over and over interspersed with them just running errands. I hate that I paid for this boring book about nothing. Also, the author seems to be OBSESSED with male genitalia. This is a fairly short book, but there are at least 2 dozen references to Sam's man bits and his state of arousal. We get it. He's horny. (Insert eye roll)
A lovely start to the series for what promises to get better and better.
Marry Me is a friends to lovers story. Sam and Lauren have been friends since children both in love with each other but the time was never right for the two to be together. But when on Lauren's wedding day Sam feels like his heart is breaking into a million pieces he cannot stay and watch her walk down the aisle withe someone else what he wasn't expecting was Lauren to turn up at the bar where is drowning his sorrows not married!
This is a story of new beginnings and fresh starts!
I really like the idea behind this series, take a popular song, in this case Marry Me by Thomas Rhett and write a book inspired by it. It’s cute and original and just plain fun.
This is a best friend to lovers book. Lauren and Sam have been friends since Lauren’s family moved across the street from Sam’s and they have loved each other almost just as long but neither of them took the chance, that is until Lauren says yes marry another man.
I absolutely live the relationship between Lauren and Sam. This book reads quick and has a great ending. Excited to read more from this series.
This is the 1st in a new series and is Sam and Lauren’s story. These two were best friends growing up and as she had no clue what his true feeling were for her she decides to move on with her life. When Sam receives a wedding invitation, he knows he waited too long and has lost his chance. Does Lauren start to doubt herself? This is a good story which I must admit I struggled a bit with, connecting to these characters. This story is sweet, and with friendship which leads to a poignant love story. I look forward to reading more from this author.
A perfect love story with no glitches really. Lauren has been in love with her best friend since the age of 9. When he says nothing she eventually convinced herself to date and almost married Brad on the rebound. Luckily she left the poor groom at the alter and they confessed their love to each other. I kept on waiting for the shoe to drop and thinking that there will be drama but no, their love ran smoothly until they eventually got married. Good book minus the bedroom scenes which I always skip. Got the book via BookFunnel.
