With an enticing blurb, hot rock star hero, beachside Australian setting, and allure of the union of two unlikely characters, I was excited to meet my first Amity Cross romance! Whole Lotta Love is a sweet and steamy love story with its beautiful setting and broken rock star hero. I loved the detail painted throughout this story that instantly transported me to Australia and the the way the hero wanted to change his somewhat unfulfilling life.
While I love rock star romances and adored this hero, I could not connect to the heroine or this hero and heroine together. I could not feel the chemistry between the hero and heroine. The pacing was off for me where I needed a longer ending. Overall, I just could not feel this story as much as I wanted to badly. I WANTED to love this book, especially with loving rocker romances so much. I really did.
First of all, I was excited to start reading and find this book set in Australia! The blurb didn't give any hints about that. I'm a big fan of Rock Star Romance, and this book did not let my fantasy down. It's the first in a series; It's not a cliffhanger, but it definitely leaves you wanting to read the next book!
Whole Lotta Love may be a Rock Star Romance, but it's more than that. Reading Sebastion and Juniper's story is about two people finding themselves in a sea of uncertainty and unfairness and loneliness. The plot manages to pull us in to Sebastian's glamorous lifestyle and see the solitude. It shows us Jupiter's quaint hometown and her ailing business but also their need for love and family.
I don't know if I've ever met two more forlorn and despondent characters. They way they met on the cold and dreary beach was a perfect meet-cute for these two. Sebastian has everything he ever wanted, but turns out it's not all it's cracked up to be. Jupiter is a small town girl who is stuck. They both need to bust out of their stereotypes and live life a new way. There's a little bit of each of us in these two. Every one has a little bit of “grass is greener” syndrome and also step outside their comfort zone. Both characters were interesting, well formed, and made me very invested in their lives.
Sebastian and Juniper hit it off in an opposites attract kind of way. They have a lot of pitfalls to navigate, but they do... And when they manage to find their way to each other and find solace with each other, it's everything a good bad boy of the Rock World should be! Girl next door from a tiny town never stood a chance and gets her world rocked!
Amity Cross uses some of the most memorable imagery I've read in a long time! It was a joy to read. I was sucked in and read the whole thing at once instead of parenting. It was fast paced and full of intrigue and contention. The characters were relate-able while still allowing us the dream of a Rock Star.
I loved how this books plot dipped and dived and rose with the character's struggles and choices. I can't wait to read the next book! Bring on book 2 with more Australia, more Beneath, more Sebastian, more Juniper and more from Amity Cross.
Favorite quotes: “You've got to let go of all that crap and find your light.” “Everything was swirling-the surf, my head, my heart-and my internal compass was going haywire.” “How could I care about a drunk rock star who's in the middle of an existential crisis?” “Love will kick you in the nuts and laugh while you're rolling around on the ground, but when it shines...[fudge]. When it shines, love is worth all of this, times a million.”
I had this book sitting in my Kindle for a while thinking I would wait for the series to be out, I am so glad I didn't. I love everything about this one. Juniper is a gem, her inner turmoil is both heartbreaking and hilarious. Sebastian is the rocker who has come to a crossroads in his life and while this has been done before, Amity Cross' writing makes you believe every thought and spoken word he has. I can tell that this series is gonna be amongst one of my favorites. Bonus is I found an new book boyfriend, Ziggy - he beat Sebastian out in this one.
Enjoyed this book. So far though not liking his bandmates or his manager. I'm at a loss on my feelings and being able to put into words on how and what I would like to see happen in the next book. I think certain people in his circle need to be out into their rightful place in my opinion. I hope Juniper and Sebastian can weather the storm in sure that is going to happen. Thanks Jamie Nibarger Ellis
“Love was darkness. Love was loss. I’d learned that at a young age, but here I was challenging a man at his darkest point, wanting all the things I’d learned would tear me apart.”
Not all those that wander are lost but they may be drowning in their reality...cast adrift by the raw realisation that life is not as it should be fate brings together two souls that are fractured. Achingly weathered by expectations and circumstance Sebastian find himself somewhere to just be, to reconnect and just think. Feeling like his life is spiralling out of control he is struggling to separate the illusion from the truth and is uncertain who he is anymore. Drowning in a sea of fame the bad boy of rock knows something has to give before he breaks. Juniper is a small town girl clinging onto the last remnants of her parents, living in the shadow of their tragic love. Protecting herself from the dangers of actually living she hides behind her failing business and sticks to routine. But meeting a stranger with a storm hiding in the shadows of his eyes releases the tempest within but can they both survive the ensuing hurricane or will they be ripped apart?
Book one in this new series from Amity Cross is without a doubt a heart wrenching emotional rollercoaster. Manipulation and misuse of power shows how not everything is easy even for the talented and wealthy and despite success life is empty without a connection. Sebastian is struggling and trying to find his anchor and Juniper is at a crossroads in her life but they both are so frightened of the possibilities that they hold back and doubt themselves and each other. The push and pull between them is tangible and the attraction can not be denied. I loved Ziggy he stole the show! The ending had me cursing and I’m hoping the next in the series won’t be too long a wait. This is a fantastic start to a kick ass series.
"I was too caught up in the storm brewing inside my heart, the storm named Sebastian Hale. I just hoped I didn't capsize."
A sweet and seductive story that swept me up like a summer storm...I couldn't put it down, and it left me with all the feels!! Sebastian and Juniper couldn't be more different, and it landed them in so many doubts about their success as a couple, I couldn't stop until it was done. Their steamy attraction was intoxicating and I loved every minute!! I thank the Author for providing a copy to review and will be excitedly waiting for more from this series!!
"Sebastian Hale was just a storm blowing through town, leaving a path of destruction wherever he went. It wasn't like he meant to, it was just who he was. Beautiful, haunted, magnetic."
I RECEIVED AN ARC OF THIS BOOK, VIA GIVE ME BOOKS PROMOTIONS, IN PARTICIPATION OF A BLOG TOUR. THIS IS MY HONEST REVIEW.
I can never read enough rockstar romance. I practically devoured this book. And holy smokes, Sebastian Hale. My heart cried for his hardships and brokenness. There was a roller coaster of emotions; I loved Juniper. She was real. I did not find her character wishy-washy or annoying. Bring these characters together, in the most unexpected way, and their life becomes a little more interesting. I do know that I've read Amity Cross' writing before, I just can't remember which book. But I loved her style and am really looking forward to the next book in this series!
I have to say Amity Cross had me hook, line, and sinker in the beginning pages of this book. She has a way of writing a setting that puts you right there, and I felt like I was someone on that lonely beach watching the first meeting between Sebastian and Juniper!
Juniper has lived her entire life in her small town. She is stuck. She is trying to save her struggling book store. It is one of the last things she has of her mother’s. She is determined to make it work. She never really thought about leaving until Sebastian.
Sebastian is running from the life he has as a rock star. As he says, “Rock ‘n’ roll will save your life….but fame will kill you.” He has had just about as much as he can handle of the fame. He doesn’t know who to trust anymore, and he needed a safe place to regroup and consider what his future is.
I liked Juniper’s character. Yeah, she could be cynical at times, but she was also very down to earth. She didn’t even know who Sebastian was until her best friend told her. That doesn’t really change anything. She just sees him as an interesting, sexy guy. She knows their relationship probably will end when he leaves, because everybody leaves. See….her cynicism!
Sebastian is a bit cynical as well but that is because of his fame and all it brought with it...some good and some really bad. Juniper is a breath of fresh air for him. She doesn’t care about the fame. In fact, it’s his fame that may very well derail their relationship before it gets off the ground.
I love a good rock star romance, and this was a good one. The characters were well fleshed out, and I’m still learning more about them. The writing itself was fantastic, and oh my I loved the setting. As I wrote earlier, Cross put me right there with the characters. I could vividly see the places in my mind. Thankfully, this is only the beginning for Sebastian and Juniper, so I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.
Oh My, where to start? I am stunned at just how I feel about this book, don’t get me wrong I adore Amity Cross and have read so many of her books but for me, this one chewed me up and spat me out more than most. I adore a vulnerable rocker story and with Sebastian that is just what I got, a guy that had the world at his feet but that was so sick of it all that he just had to get away. I liked the fact that the author didn’t play too much on the life that he had been part of, she was much more elaborate than that, showing me that he wasn’t just this rich, wild rocker…no this was a guy that was so much more than anyone seemed willing to allow him to be or at least to show the world. I found his personality so easy to engage with that I think I could have read about him for weeks. But of course, he isn’t the only person in the book and it was going to take someone very special to be able to deal with the magnificence that was Sebastian and oh boy did the author know this one out of the park because there could only ever have been one person and that was Juniper. I am a believer in fate I like to be able to visualise the story as it comes off the page and I could really see this pair together. They were polls apart or so it would appear on the surface but nothing could be further from the truth because beneath their own issues were two souls that were screaming out to be loved, could they do that for each other, even for a little while and if they could would they be able to go their own way in the end? I loved the descriptions in the book, I also thought that setting the story in Australia was a stroke of genius, I could feel emotion on each page and I revelled in it.
A fabulous book that 5 stars doesn’t even do justice too!!
WHOLE LOTTA LOVE is the beginning of the Rock Star Hearts series. It doesn't end in a cliffy per se but I believe there's four books altogether that follow this couple.
Sebastian Hale is the lead singer of the big, bad rock band, "Beneath". He's the epitome of sex, drugs and rock n' roll. But when he disappears to a small town in a desperate attempt to ground himself in real life, he finds himself enthralled with Juniper Rowe. Juniper has lead a rather tough life and doesn't even know who the enigmatic Sebastian is.
Sebastian and Juniper's attraction sizzles the very first time they meet on the beach. And of course they both have good reasons not to get involved with each other. Juniper was a bit of an oddball, she never quite fit in because of her past and her parents. She was, however, a passionate, loyal and completely honest woman. Sebastian was in a bit of an early midlife crisis. He'd lost his connection to the music but he found one in Juniper. «sigh & swoon» Isn't that every fan's dream?! They existed in different worlds but they were made for each other.
This book is set in Australia I believe and I gotta say, as a girl from Texas, it was weird reading about "arseholes", "kilometres" and "mums". But honestly, Amity Cross did a phenomenal job writing a seamless, fast paced book that completely drew me into that cliffside little town half way across the world! Kudos, Ms. Cross!
If you're looking for something dreamy, this one's a fabulous insta-love gem with charming characters and a sexy vibe. Told from dual POVs with a happy for now ending. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.
OMG what a whirlwind of emotions. I love the way the author showed the tender/vulnerable side to her characters. Often with rocker books we read about all the wild and craziness and that is often a focus point. Whole Lotta Love put the crazy life as more of a secondary point and for this reader it make the book so much more enjoyable. Plus you can easily relate to the characters. The author has written the storyline in a way that you can’t help but feel their pain, joy, excitement and heartbreak.
Sebastian is tired of all the wildness in his life. By becoming a rockstar at a young age, he was given too much to handle. The women, the drugs, the alcohol, the wild parties, it was all getting old but he had no clue how to get off that roller coaster. So he runs away to a small coastal town. It’s there he meets Juniper, totally by accident on a deserted beach. She is a free spirit on the outside but on the inside she is dealing with a lot of pain and hurt having just lost her mom and trying desperately to keep her mother’s bookstore open and a roof over her head. But can a fling with a rockstar who is for sure leaving in a few weeks a good thing? Especially when you’ve already lost so much? But Maybe, Just Maybe these two can ease each other’s pain and help themselves find the right path forward, if only for a little while.
This is a wonderful story that will warm your heart. I can’t recommend it enough and this reader is looking forward to the next installment of Sebastian and Juniper’s lives. 2 Thumbs Up.
Whole lotta love is book one in the rock star hearts series. This story is short, fast paced and a nice read. I devoured this story in one sitting and was satisfied throughout. Sebastian and Juniper were both a little broken until they met one another. Juniper calmed Sebastian and Sebastian got Juniper to give love a chance. I loved how they were with one another. I liked that Sebastian tried to stay away from Juniper. He wanted her but he didn’t want the paparazzi to ruin her life. He knew first hand what they were like and he didn’t want that for Juniper. Juniper saw what loving a musician did to her mother. She didn’t want to get her heart broken and go what her mother did. That being said, she quickly developed feelings for Sebastian and couldn’t stay away from him as much as she tried. The chemistry between Sebastian and Juniper was clear to see and I really liked the build up to their romance. Although they weren’t mentioned in the story much, I really disliked Vix and Josh. Vix because how she was with Sebastian and not caring about upsetting anyone. As for Josh, he was supposed to be Sebastian’s best friend but he wasn’t supportive what so ever. I didn’t like his attitude and the way he was with Sebastian and how he talked to and about Juniper. The storyline for this book is easy to follow and an enjoyable read. I cannot wait for the next book. I like how this story ended so I am a little apprehensive to see what will happen next for Juniper and Sebastian. I really want them to get a permanent happily ever after.
WOW I've missed Amity's writing but she is back with a bang. I'm not usually a fan of rockstar romances as I never really feel a connect with the characters but a Whole Lotta Love was written so well and from such an angle that I was totally absorbed into the story.
This author can write the most tortured broken characters that stay with you and Sebastian Hale is just that. He should have it all with his fame as the hottest rockstar but behind the facade he is drowning with no one noticing. He breaks away from the fast paced lifestyle to the coast to find his breath. And meets Juniper a local woman with her own issues.
These are two broken characters and their meeting on a cold desolate beach couldn't be more fitting. However they seem to recognise the loss in each other and soon find strength from that. But their path is littered with pitfalls and their story will suck you in.
Amity's writing, her scene settings and character strengths were everything I've come to expect from her and then some with this book. This is the first of a new series and left me wanting the second book (not because its a cliffhanger) already to read more of these characters.
This book is a first for me from this author and boy was it amazing! The writing style really draws you in; very descriptive but not OTT and the emotions of the characters claw through the pages.
I loved Sebastian, except when he was a douchebag but I won’t spoil it for others with what bit. I was a big studious about Juniper, I get that she was a hopeless romantic etc but she was way too ‘naive’ to be believable at times. I LOVE her name! Isn’t it pretty and unique?
I loved the setting in a small town in Australia, very quaint and quiet... I could do with living somewhere like there! Amity Cross is definitely one that knows exactly what readers need and want and she delivers to perfection - from writing creative and unique characters to describing the best bits about the town.
The storyline stayed interesting all the way to the end but I hate that it ended the way it did.
Fabulously written with beautiful style and I’m certainly going to be diving into more from this author.
So many feelings while reading this! Sebastian and Juniper couldn’t be more different-and I knew their story would be truly intriguing because their chemistry was burning wild hot even with so many differences between them. Sebastian is just trying to breathe-he’s trying to escape every kind of publicity and label of him and just relax. Juniper is a small town girl holding so tightly onto her past-the both don’t see what’s right in front of them. The interactions between the two characters really is what made this book-I felt their chemistry and how hard the pushed and pulled each other right in my bones. I’m confident that this series is going to be amazing-with the start being this story. This is definitely a sweet story, and really a different outlook use readers usually get with the stubborn wild rockstar. I Would absolutely recommend this rockstar romance-I will be patiently waiting for the rest in this series. - By Victoria
Amity Cross is an author whose books I have really loved in the past so I was excited to start Whole Lotta Love. While I didn’t love this one I didn’t hate it either. I really had a hard time with Juniper’s character and I really couldn’t tolerate her best friend that much either. So I bet you are asking well what did you like then. That’s an easy answer. Sebastian Hale. I kept reading for him, his character called out to me, the pain in his soul and heart was apparent from the start and I just wanted to make things better for him in some way.
Now while I didn’t like Juniper or her attitude in this book, I still want to know what is going to happen in the next book. I am invested because of Sebastian and I am hoping I will like Juniper more in the next book. I am curious to see how things are going to work out between these two.
This was so good, I read it in one sitting. Although I have grown to expect that from this author and yet again I was not disappointed.
Sebastian Hale is portrayed as a bad boy rock star, but he's had enough and needs some time out. His time out leads him to a small town, where he can easily hideaway from the crazy life he leads. He was not expecting to have his head and world turned around when he met Juniper Rowe.
I love Juniper, she is such a lovely character. The last thing she expected was to have her life change after a simple walk on the beach with Ziggy her best friend's dog.
This is a great start to the series, it has left me with all the feels. I have nervous butterflies for the next book, this wasn't a cliffhanger but it's the start of new beginnings. I can't wait for the next instalment.
I really enjoyed the storyline of this story and the genre of Rockstar romance. I did find the story was a short read that had a lot of angst filled throughout the story. The two main characters had a lot of chemistry between them and I found the to be good together.
First I have to say how much I love the main female characters name, Juniper. Juniper had a hard time in her life and she held on dear to the memories that she had of her parents. I really enjoyed seeing the way she grew as a person throughout the story.
Sebastian was the hot rock star that seemed really sad to me throughout the story. It was obvious he was not sure who he was and think that he really discovered what was important to him in the story.
This was an enjoyable start to a new series form this author and I’m excited to read what happens next with this couple.
Well what a fab start to this new series from Amity Cross. It's a great story that I just didn't want to put down. It's a story about two broken souls from different world's coming together and hopefully being able to find the missing links in their lives to push forward and find the happiness they both long for.
Sebastian Hale is lead singer with the rock band "Beneath" he's had enough of the bad boy life style so he's hiding out in a small town whilst he decides which direction he wants his life to go in. When he stumbles upon local girl Juniper she has no idea who he is but her life is in just as much turmoil has his. As they embark on a relationship things get more complicated two they really stand a chance or is it about to end before it's even begun.
I totally enjoyed this book and can't wait to get more Sebastian and Juniper!
A lot of angst and brooding going on here. Rock star Sebastian is in hiding - the reason why he needs to escape it all is a little vague to me. I didn't feel I got in his head to understand what he was feeling and thinking. He chooses to hide in a small town with a population of 100 and the town that Juniper lives in. Juniper is struggling financially with her book store. When she meets Sebastian and works out who he is, she wants to be far away from him and his rock star ways. She is jaded by her the path her musician father took.
This was a quick read and an enjoyable one - I felt as though I wanted to know more about the characters and understand more about them and their hopes and their fears that I felt was a little lacking here. Hopefully this will come out more as their journey continues.
This is the first Amity Cross book I have read and I must say I was very pleasantly surprised. Juniper and Sebastian find instalust that turns into instalove pretty quickly. I am not always a fan of instalove stories because I find them a bit unbelievable but this one was written in such a way that I could see how Sebastian in particular was at a point in his life that he had opened up his heart and mind to love. It made the story work for me. I must say I am intrigued to read the rest of the series. I am trying to figure out how I as a reader will be able to connect with his bandmates in a better light. They are not all that appealing or nice in this first book and I assume they will each get their own story. The writing is well done and nicely paced. This author is a nice find.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Fun meet cute Juniper is complicated. She's skittish, scared and struggling to survive. Sebastian is jaded and frustrated with the world and over it, sick of being a promotional prop.
This went from strangers to full throttle a little too fast. But at least Juniper recognises it. Insta-love, when done well, is fantastic and while this was done reasonably well, I was left feeling a little flat. Did he become more intriguing because he was a musician and her father was a musician? Not a lot of deep conversation, but since this is a multi-book arc it makes sense. Vanessa is a little annoying until the last chapter ot two. The constant back and forth 'I want him I cant trust him or myself' is tiring and I wanted to shake some sense into her. Josh could have been a better friend to Sebastian, since they grew up together, but money and fame can squash the best of relationships.
This book was very interesting it makes you think. Juniper is an every day "normal" person and Sebastian is a Rock star. Everyone is wrapped up on the Rock Stars what they are doing and where they are going and what not. We don't even think how all this affects them. Reading this made me think, how sad it must be for them not to have any privacy. At the same token Juniper lives her life the way she wants with out worrying about it being in the news. So when Juniper and Sebastian met by chance, its new, scary, but interesting. This story makes you reflect on your life and how we view others. Thank you United Indie Book Blog for letting me read this book. I cant wait to read the other books.
Whole Lotta Love shows you that Beneath the stardom and small-town life there are still uncertainty, loneliness and stereotypes regardless of your status in life. Beneath the surfaces there is a Whole Lotta Love to give by someone who is willing to see the person for who they are. Sebastian and Juniper are both drowning in their own ways in life, but they might just be what each other needs to feel free and loved. You feel the emotions and feel like you are on the beach or other places portrayed in this story. Can the rocker bad boy be found? Will Juniper show Sebastian she doesn’t care about his status or fame? This is book one in the Rock Star Hearts and cannot wait to see which Rock star is next.

Juniper is stuck in her small town trying to keep her mother's book store from closing. Sebastian is running away from the fame and fake like he lives as a rock star. When they meet Juniper has no idea who he is. With no prospects of romance from the men in town Sebastian is a temptation she isn't sure she can resist. When things start to get intimate Juniper runs because she sees hurt in her future from a relationship from him. When the press finds him he accuses Juniper of selling him out for money. It agravates me that after what he did to her she readily forgave him. Now she is going to meet up with him and see where their relationship can go. Will Sebastian be able to commit, will his band give them a chance or throw obstacles in their path?
✔️Sexy, Broody rockstar ✔️Sweet down to earth small town girl ✔️Hilarious and fiercely loyal friends ✔️Adorable dog Whole Lotta Love is what rockstar loving dreams are made of! I devoured this book! Reading it all without moving from the spot I sat down in when I started it. Amity Cross delivers a story filled with angst, heat, and serious swoon with Whole Lotta Love! Juniper and Sebastian are flat out magnificent together. Their story is one that right from that first meeting you know these two are going to have that epic, steal your heart, make you melt kind of love. I’m dying to see what’s coming next for these two and cannot wait for the next book!
This was a really good book that is more than what it seems. Yes the hero is a rockstar, however, this book is so much more. Sebastian is broken. Juniper is not, but she is bent. These two find each other when normally they wouldn't cross each others paths. The crossed each other's paths when Sebastian became so broken he had to get away. This book was really good at seeing the characters under the surface. This book is set in Australia, which for this American reader was awesome. It was a breath of fresh air. This story is told in dual pov.
