I was at the top of my game. I knew who I was and what direction my life was headed. I owned the most prestigious night clubs down the east coast yet I kept my identity a secret. I don’t like being in the lime light and my hometown was none of anyone’s business. However, making people happy was. I did that with my clubs. Until the day tragedy struck my family. I had a choice to make and it wasn’t an easy one.
At the end of the day, family always comes first. I went home to take care of my mom and the ranch. I didn’t plan on that little smart mouth Hope showing up with a laptop in hand. Just out of a cheating relationship the girl was hell bent on hating all men. Me included. Hating me wasn’t the only thing she came back home for. She needed a quiet place to write her next article. Her interest? The man that suddenly closed down all the upscale clubs on the east coast.
I wanted to be anonymous for a reason. I didn’t want the cameras and all the tabloids in mine or my family’s business. So, I don’t give her anything. Well, nothing she wants anyhow. I give her the cowboy, the man that I’ve once again become with the dirty mouth. Until she learns the truth and wants to run with it. I should have known that a second chance at love wouldn’t happen for me. All fairy tales have to end, right?
I am a wife, mother, child chauffeur and author. I love being able to create different characters and spin a web that makes them come together in the end. My books do not stick to just one genre, they span many.
I write about things that are real life situations and fairy tales are not always smooth sailing. My MC books are hard and gritty and they have struggles just like you would in life.
I also have books that are not so in your face. There are several that are good love stories that are fraught with issues that the characters have to deal with.
ღ Hope Birch. wasn’t born in the country. oh no She might have been raised there since she was around 9 years old. And how she hated the country life… with all the creepy crawlers , they pretty much scared the heebie jeebies out her
Let’s be honest here, Hope is a city girl, from New York! Her mom brought her& her sister here when she wanted something different for her daughters. Hope’s family bought the ranch next to Gentry family
Gentry & Hope were high school sweethearts, only thing is that, Hope had high tail it out town right after graduation. Never saying goodbye to Gentry & never truly looking back
Each one chasing different dreams Hope a freelance writer- Gentry believe or not a club owner A tragedy brings them both back to that sleepy hollow town
Will these two get second chance at romance? Or have they grown so far apart that they can’t be together again…. You can’t ever truly tell what you’ll get with Erin Trjo’s books .. I can tell you this much, lord have mercy Gentry is definitely a Dirty talking Cowboy
So I went in totally blind with this book & I am so glad I did! Since Erin was venturing to new Genres, Dirty Cowboy, So out of character for this author. but just cuz I said that, doesn’t mean that Erin didn’t do a good job on the writing to this book or that the storyline wasn’t good! On contrary she did great job, just not her most Spectacular…..
I definitely love second chance romance books, I don’t know this book kinda felt out of place at times, or more like out order
so, since this new Genres for Erin, I was debating on either 3 or 4 stars for this one. I must say, first & foremost that I would read just about anything this author wrote, so even if I gave? many stars don’t mean anything!
📚 Hope you enjoy this read & also always keep in mind this is just my opinion+ Also I wouldn’t never discourage anyone from reading this book, This is my honest, voluntary review.
The Blurb: I was at the top of my game. I knew who I was and what direction my life was headed. I owned the most prestigious night clubs down the east coast yet I kept my identity a secret. Dirty Cowboy wasn't really that dirty. Unless you count mud? With a title like this, I was hoping for something a bit more than what I actually got. In it, you will meet Gentry and Hope. They were kind of cute and were sort of getting their second chance at rekindling their romance. Yet, there was just something off about it all.
Doesn't help that Hope's ex was freakishly obsessive and somehow planning an imaginary wedding with her. Then there's Gentry, who I think was trying to be somewhat sexy with certain comments (or whatever) and ended up making me cringe. A for effort, I guess?
Other than that, I sort of like the romance but it felt like things were being rushed throughout the book. I wouldn't necessarily deem it insta-love just more like insta-book. Not sure if that makes sense but it's like it the fast forward button was stuck and the book was basically over.
The ending was kind of cute though, so that's a plus.
I’m sad to say that I wasn’t an awfully big fan of this story, and it was in most part because of the hero. I get that Gentry was meant to be this “dirty-talking” cowboy, bit his innuendos were at times extremely random and generally very creepy. Instead of me swooning over him, I found him making me feel a bit icky!
There was a great story somewhere within this book but it got lost in the disjointed delivery. It felt that there were scenes and dialogue missing from this book. There was no clear indication of time and even though the banter was on point some times, a few times here and there it felt like the Hero would sprout sexual innuendos left and right just for something to say. Most of the time, his innuendos were on point and funny but honestly other times it just came out of nowhere without anything prompting it (hence the missing dialogue feeling comment).
According to the book, the story spanned months but it just didn't feel like that. It felt kinda rushed.
There were some really, really sweet moments that made me swoon, but outside of those moment I didn't really feel connected to either character or their chemistry or their relationship. For me, it just wasn't there unfortunately.
There were some inconsistencies that if you're not a freak like me, you might miss them and some editing issues (at some point I thought the heroine had 2 moms because instead of mom's it was moms).
Humor, heart, and heat...all perfect for this bookiverse!
Love the Cocky Hero bookiverse, so I was excited to read this one!
Erin Trejo is a new to me author. I have to say, I definitely will be looking into reading more from her.
Gentry & Hope have known each other since childhood. They were high school sweethearts. They are brought back into each others lives by his father's death.
They reconnect. There are some bumps along the way. Like her delusional cheating ex. Gentry's former business. Her career goals ( don't worry, it's not the career that's the issue). City girl vs the country.
Floved it.
Oh, and fainting goats!! A certain Australian and his darling goat are mentioned...and made their impression.
I received a review copy. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Dirty Cowboy was more than an okay read for me but I can’t say that I liked it so I have to round down to a 2-star rating. I never connected with the story. I read words. That's about it.
There are branches of story-lines aside from Hope and Gentry’s journey that should have tugged at my heart. I'm not giving you plot point of this book as examples because I don't want to spoil this story for anyone but in these circumstances, I once again read the words and it was nice but it just did not resonate with me or my emotions and that's just too bad because it should have! Darnit! So this story didn’t work for me, but it might work for you *shrug*
Gentry is a successful business owner living in NY but after the death of his father he decides to return home to the family ranch which is where he truly calls home. He didn’t expect that fate would bring Hope to the ranch at the same time.
As teenagers Hope and Gentry were a couple but Hope had dreams that extended far behind their hometown. After being betrayed she now finds herself staying with Gentry’s family and the chemistry and connection between them is stronger than ever but will she choose her career over Gentry once again?
Gentry and Hope are very different except for when it comes to their feelings for each other but if they are going to have a future together they must decide what they can and can’t live without.
Dirty Cowboy had the potential to be a fun read, but I never felt any connection to it. There were some moments that I found interesting, but I spent most of the book waiting to feel something.
I think my problem with this one was that everything happened far too quickly and was never given the depth it could have been. There was the chance for plenty of history between the characters, plenty of entertaining moments in the present, but none were taken as far as they could have been. It was all too quick, and I wanted more.
I’m sure some will enjoy this one, but it didn’t work for me.
I really enjoyed this book. Second chance romances are great and I love when things are fated all along. The fun and banter is brilliant, although sometimes I did find Gentry could be a little inappropriate and that was a little weird to me. But that just something little.
Gentry and Hope individually bring so much to the table in this book. Gentry is a dirty-talking cowboy that is a man that has values and beliefs that he is willing to fight tooth and nail for. And Hope, well what can I say about the sassy, sexy, strong-willed women. Who's beliefs are strong and she is as determined as Gentry.
Can this pair, forgive the past and move on. Make a go of the love, a love that is so completely there front and center. And just be together. Well, I guess you'll have to read this book to find out.
This is a fun and sexy read that. Will make you smile and laugh. A recommendation from me that I am sure you'll enjoy.
Dirty Cowboy is is part of the Cocky Hero Club which is inspired by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward's Cocky Bastard series. This one is inspired by Mister Moneybag. You don't have to have the read Mister Moneybag to enjoy this one.
I liked this one. Gentry has it all. He runs successful club but one call from his mom changes things. He's a good guy and cares about his family. Hope finds herself at a cross road and needing a break. Her and Gentry end up at the ranch he grown up on. She at the ranch to work on an article which she doesn't know how close to the subject of the article she is. Gentry is a dirty talker and his innuendos were funny. Hope really doesn't want to fall for him but it's hard not too. This one had a really great storyline.
This is a bit different from what Ms Trejo normally writes, and dang, it's good, I love Hope and Gentry's second chance story, they loved each other since they were young and then they both moved in different directions, Hope hated country life and moved to the City to follow her writing career Gentry made a go of things in New York though in his heart he was always a Cowboy, when his Pop passes he goes home to the ranch giving up his life in NY, Hope goes back for the funeral and to get away from her cheating ex stays awhile. The spark between the two are still there, but will she give up the City life she craves.
I received a copy and I am voluntarily leaving my own honest opinion
Loved this book! It is full of so many emotions! Gentry and Hope are meant to be. They just took forever to figure it out....lol! When Hope left Gentry after high school, she wanted to make it big. Now, she has the chance to write the article of a lifetime. Only problem is they once she finds out the truth, she will have to out Gentry. Gentry has spent years trying to forget Hope and becoming quite the entrepreneur. Only he has done it without anyone knowing who he truly is. When these two reunite, laughs abound and hearts heal but will Hope choose love or her dream life? Great book!!
This story was adorable. I love cowboys, I love the idea of country livin. Gentry sounded pretty perfect to me, his dirty sense of humor right up my alley. It had depth, emotion, and plenty of laughs all rolled together. I look forward to the next story!
4 Star Review Dirty Cowboy (A Cocky Hero Club) by Erin Trejo Erin Trejo is a new author to me and I am not sure why I have not come across her before. This was a well written story that was enjoyable to read. This is Gentry and Hope’s second chance at love story. There was plenty of steam and humour in this story which kept my attention from the first to the last chapter. When both return home, neither have a clue that their loves are about to change forever. I really liked Gentry, he was a tough talking dirty cowboy who was willing to fight for who and what he believed in, Hope was sassy and determined. Can they both get over what happened in the past and forge a future together? Or will it all fall apart once again? One click and find out.
Dirty Cowboy takes us into the world of Mister Moneybags in a second chance country romance. Gentry is a dirty talking country boy who will have your pulse racing and your skin tingling. Hope is a city girl with a country heart but is confused at where her soul calls home. This story will have you laughing hard, falling fast and ready to ride off into the sunset. Their story was full of witty banter, dirty pick up lines and steamy scenes. A captivating story full of passion, secrets, revelations and heartwarming moments.
Honestly if it wasn't for Erin Mallon narrating this book I would not have finished it, unfortunately it just wasn't for me, the story line seemed to be a little disjointed and I couldn't find the flow, and the looking at the boobs and getting a hard on at his fathers funeral in the first chapter kind of put me off. I didn't feel any chemistry with the characters and the sex was meh! But it was funny.
After reading this I realise I need to read more from this author as this was a great read. A few years ago I devoured cowboy stories until I kinda got burnt out reading them. This story has brought it all back to me- how much I love this genre.
Gentry and Hope are everything. Gentry is a hot sexy cowboy. Hope is a city girl with a country heart.
This had a good storyline that made me want to read in one sitting. I just needed to know what was gonna happen next. If you enjoy second chance romances then give this a shot. I really enjoyed it.
Dirty Cowboy is a second chance story that makes for a quick read. But it left me with more questions than answers, wishing there was more to it. I had a really hard time connecting with the characters. Their chemistry was off. The story felt forced at certain points, without explanations of why certain situations were happening or how they came to be. There was a lack of background (at least when you read it) that made the storyline flat.
I understand that Gentry was a dirty talker, and I wouldn't have cared that his inuendos were a bit too much if his inner dialogues/thought had also been like that. Instead, it felt off, almost forced. I also had a hard time believing and understanding Hope. She wants to be a respected journalist, but she is already a writer (maybe romance? it's not clear). She puts all her hopes in this one article about the owner of successful clubs who, out of nowhere, decides to shut down his business. No one knows who he is. She supposedly spends all her time investigating the story, but we don't see it.
There were some hilarious banter and some sweet moments. Unfortunately, the whole story didn't come together. The book had the potential to be a great one, had the backbone of the story been there and some of the plot hadn't been rushed.
I really enjoyed this book. Second chance romances are great and I love when things are fated all along. The fun and banter is brilliant, although sometimes I did find Gentry could be little inappropriate and that was a little weird to me. But that just something little.

Dirty Cowboy (Cocky Hero series) by Erin Trejo. Gentry gets a call from his mother that his father has died. His father was his rock and his sudden death has him shaken to his core. When he goes home for the funeral he runs to the one person he didn't really want to see. Hope just wanted to show her respect. She wasn't looking forward to seeing the guy who she just up and left. After going home Gentry decides to close his clubs and go back to the ranch. He not only wants to help his mother but he loves the life of a cowboy. When Hope goes back to her job she gets 2 surprises. One of those surprises has her running to Gentry's mother for solace. Little did she know Gentry had moved back home. The old feeling between the two are still there. There is that one problem. Gentry loves the small town life. Hope loves the big city and all it has to offer. The sexual tension between the two can be cut with a knife. It definitely made for a good story that had me interested. Their journey to getting together was one of surprises and secrets. Of course Gentry is sexy as sin. He is the ultimate cowboy. This was my first time reading this author. I look forward to reading other books by her. 4 stars for me.
This is not usually the type of book that Erin Trejo would write but I thought she did a really good job! If a Rom Com can make me laugh out loud and put a smile on my face then to me it's a winner!
Dirty Cowboy is a second chance Romantic Comedy - Gentry and Hope grew up together on farms in Texas - both as different as night and day. Hope was always a city girl at heart even at 4 didn't like the dirt of the farm wanting to wear nice clothes but for some reason Gentry and Hope became boyfriend and girlfriend until the day straight after graduation from high school she ups and leaves with her parents without a backward glance or even a goodbye. Although country is in Gentry he has made a living in NY but when he is forced to come home he realises what he has been missing what he wasn't expecting was Hope living on his ranch!
Join this miss matched pair as Gentry tries to prove to this city girl that this cowboy is exactly what she needs - believe me as you swipe the final page you will have a smile on your face!
Dirty Cowboy is far more than a name, the job and the mouth all really do play a part, I loved the talk and the responses. This couple are both smart, she's as sassy as he's dirty and they play so well off one another. But this story is about more than them as a couple or even as friends, it's about life choices and second chances, about seeing more than dirt or spiders, or rich clothes and city life, it's about love. Deciding what's right and forks in the road. It isn't all straight forward but then when is anything worth fighting for, it is also about loving deeply enough to let go and hope. I love Erin Trejo's books, this was for her tame, but oh so good. Normally it's tough bikers with a vicious side when needed, well this cowboy wasn't weak and was definitely willing to fight if it was called for but he was also gentle, cocky and every bit a man. The model on the cover fits this character well, the grin I pictured many times while reading. Erin does cowboy equally as well as biker and I freakin loved it.
Really enjoyed this book. I had no idea it was a second chance romance. Hope and Gentry are two very different people who connect so wonderfully. I could understand Gentry giving up his clubs to go back home after his father passed. His mother truly needed him and in the end that is where his heart belonged. Hope loved being in the city. She loved writing and her dream job was almost hers. She just needed to figure out who the mystery man was that sold all his clubs out of the blue.
She had always been close with Gentry and family at the farm. So when she discovers her boyfriend cheating on her, she needs to get away and the farm is the best place. Plus she can work on her article. Her and Gentry begin to grow closer. Then the secrets come out and the true feelings will be revealed.
The only issue I really had with the book was the twist involving Gentry’s father. I personally didn’t think it really added anything to the book and it made Gentry view his father in a different light and since he had passed away nothing could be resolved.
Nothing like a good storyline that revolves around former lovers. Especially one that involves a cocky dirty talking cowboy, Gentry, and his high school sweetheart, Cassidy.
Ms Trejo has given us a very well written book with a sexy, flirty storyline that kept me thoroughly entertained. There were moments of aghast, shock, sadness, happiness and so much more. The characters stole my heart and the dialogue kept me smiling and grinning like a loon.
Life and dreams separated the young lovers, both going their separate ways and leaving the country ranch life and each other behind. Both becoming successful in their own way. It’s now years later and tragedy brings the couple back to their roots and their story takes on a whole new journey. One filled with heartache, laughter and lots of sexy talking sass.
Hope and Gentry grew up together on neighboring ranches. She left right after high school and never looked back. Tragedy strikes Gentry’s family and he goes home to be with his family. A bad breakup sends Hope back to the country too. Can they get back the happiness they found in childhood or will their pasts keep them apart?
This was my first Erin Trejo read but won’t be my last. She put Gentry through hell and yet we could see the good strong man he is. Hope was fighting to build the life of her dreams but she learns that what we think we want isn’t always what we really want. Loved the characters and the sweet love story Erin weaves. Great addition to the Cocky Hero Club World.
