Everything I Never Wanted

Rate this book
A single dad, contemporary romance standalone.

This wasn’t supposed to be my life.

One phone call was all it took to bring me back to the small town I had grown up in. Everything had changed, and staying away was no longer an option.

Four and a half years later, I was a widowed single father still here, still trying to pick up the pieces. We were doing just fine on our own, my little girl and me.

At least, we were until Camryn Parker stumbled into our lives. The woman was like a tornado after a hurricane; she was the storm I never saw approaching. Behind her beauty and sarcastic wit, she was just as broken as I pretended not to be. As hard as I tried to resist, it was impossible not to fall in love with her.

In the end, it took nearly losing it all for me to realize everything I never wanted was exactly what I needed.

4 “Shh. It’s okay, Doodlebug.” Stars!!

Quite the swoony, can’t turn the pages fast enough, steamy romance that gave me all kind of “feels.”

****

Hot, single dad alert! Buckle up and enjoy the sexiness, protectiveness and stubbornness of Tucker Jaxson!

Not to mention Camryn Parker, the sassy, dark haired beauty, who moves in next door. She is a lot of fun, says what is on her mind and is independent, but also has abandonment issues.

Tucker is a widow whose sole purpose is caring for his child. He has absolutely no interest in any kind of romantic relationship. That is until he meets his new neighbor. As hard as Tucker tries not to think about Camryn, she captivates Tucker’s every thought and dirty dream.

“For days, all I’ve thought about is you.” I trailed my thumb over her bottom lip. “Tasting you. Breathing in your scent. Fisting your gorgeous, dark hair in my fingers while I rained kisses against your skin.” ...

Voice low, I spoke against the shell of her ear, “If you don’t have any objections ... I’m going to kiss the hell out of you.”

Yep, ... swoon! But I will admit at one point I wanted to throw my Kindle across the room, and really was hoping for numerous chapters of serious groveling.

The best part ... Tucker’s relationship with his five year old daughter, Shayne. They had me grinning like a fool ;)

"Take a breath..."
description

Everything I Never Wanted is a contemporary romance with complex characters and a tender story of love, life, and forgiveness. description
"I'm going to kiss the hell out of you."
Tucker Jaxson is a single dad who loves his daughter fiercely. Tucker is a man who will do anything for his daughter Shayne. After getting burned and experiencing a loss like no other, he never thought he would find love again. When Camryn Parker crashes into his life, Tucker begins to believe in love again. Camryn and Tucker share a passionate and tender connection and with the addition of Shayne, a beautiful family is formed. But when secrets from the past begin to resurface, Tucker will discover that unconditional love is worth fighting for.

description
"Everything I thought I'd never wanted ended up being the very thing I could never live without."
Told in dual POV, Everything I Never Wanted is one of those reads that you think you have all figured out and then BOOM there is a surpise twist! The physical connection between Camryn and Tucker is explosive and just when you think your Kindle may not be able to handle the heat, Shayne adds a bolt of sweetness that makes your heart melt. A steady tempo is set as each moment blends seamlessly into the next. Although I felt certain choices made by both of the characters were frustrating at times, the intensity of their circumstances was the catalyst for true healing to begin.
description Overall, I highly recommend Everything I Never Wanted to anyone who enjoys a contemporary romance full of passion, forgiveness, and one sweet little girl who will melt your heart and put a smile on your face that will stay for days. This is my first K. Street read and I can guarantee it will not be my last. If you are looking for a sweet summer read, look no further. Camryn, Tucker, and Shayne is one beautiful family that I will never forget.

Enfim... Everything I Never Wanted foi uma leitura rápida e fofa. Tinha potencial pra ser uma história emocionante, porém não alcançou minhas expectativas.

Not as good as I expected...
3 out of 2,5 stars

Sometimes I read a book just because I fall in love with its cover. Here, the same thing happened and although I am not a fan of "single dad romance", I decided to read this book because of its successful cover.

The characters:

The heroine, Camryn is a sweet soul, impossible not to love.

Tucker, the hero, was good until he made that mistake and pissed me off. Although Camryn has forgiven him, I haven't. He should have grovelled & suffered more before being forgiven.

The little girl, Shayne, is ultra-sweet, very likable.

A sweet and simple love story:

The story is a simple love story between two people who have experienced similar losses in life. Their paths are crossed when Camryn moves to Tucker's town after her father's death and her fiancé's betrayal.

Camryn and Tucker are first scared of a relationship but they gradually give in to the strong attraction between them and start dating. Because there is a little child involved, they take it slowly.

There are lots of sweet times playing with the kid, cooking with her, watching TV with her etc.

Kissing & love-making scenes between the couple are all hot and passionate.

Problems for me:

1. The pacing is slow and the story is uneventful. Nothing much happens in the book really until the plot twist, which is not a big deal itself. I wasn't expecting it, so it came out of nowhere. It feels as if the writer couldn't find a better plot twist and put this one so that she can cause a problem between the couple. (-1,5 point)

2. The plot-twist causes Tucker to act in a way that made me hate him and I never loved him back. However, it is me and it may not be a big deal for most readers. (-1 point)

Ending:

The conflict between the hero & the heroine created by the plot twist is solved quickly & easily and there is a sugar-sweet HEA in the end.

Safety:

- No cheating between the hero & the heroine.

- He is not a man-whore, she is not a virgin.

Writing:

- Dual point of view.

- Makes you feel.

This standalone was amazing. The character growth of Camryn and Tucker was spectacular as they transitioned from grief to love. Their interactions with Shayne were adorable! This was my first book from K. Street, and I'm looking forward to reading more.

Overall Opinion: Welp...I finished it! I honestly can't even say what it was that held me on until the end. I struggled with a good bit of this tbh. I struggled with the instalove. I struggled with the characters. I struggled with the predictability. I struggled with the time jumps. AND I struggled with the main conflict. I never really felt connected to either character, I never really felt their connection to each other, and I just had an overall feeling that I was being told about their love instead of experiencing it. I have a feeling that I'm going to be a minority here, because I can see many people still enjoying this -- it just sadly wasn't for me.

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Camryn and Tucker's story. Camryn is new in town and she meets her neighbor, Tucker, when he helps her out of a few car troubles. She also meets his daughter, Shayne, and they hit it off right away. Neither of them are really expecting to develop stronger feelings for someone right now, but they cannot deny the strong pull they feel towards one another. There is some baggage they have to work through, some sexy times, and some sweet moments...and they get a HEA ending.

POV: This alternated between Camryn and Tucker's POV.

Overall Pace of Story: Alright. I think I just was pushing myself to finish because it wasn't my cuppa. I did skim some, but I don't necessarily think it was a pacing issue.

Instalove:Yes! At 50% both of them are in love. They hadn't had that many (IMO) meaningful interactions at that point (except for the one date and night of sex), so I really didn't understand the progression into stronger feelings.

H rating: 2.5 stars. Tucker. I thought he was just okay until the big conflict and then I didn't think he fully redeemed himself enough to rate him higher.

h rating: 2 stars. Camryn. I struggled a good bit with her tbh. She was simply not my kind of h.

Sadness level: Low, no tissues needed

Push/Pull: Yes

Heat level: Okay. They have some alright tension and scenes -- but not so much it takes away from the story. The chemistry felt a little lacking to me, but it could just be my overall struggles influencing it.

Descriptive sex: Yes

OW/OM drama: Yes

Sex scene with OW or OM: No

Cheating: No

Separation: Yes

Possible Triggers: Yes

Closure: This had a pretty good epilogue with what I would call a HEA ending. The part in Shayne's POV was a good idea, but I didn't think it was quite believable in being a five year old's perspective.

Safety: This one should be Safe for most safety gang readers

You ever want to just hug a book? Like squeeze it and cherish it forever and ever because it was just that good? That’s exactly how I feel about Everything I Never Wanted. K. Street is a completely new to me author, but after reading the blurb for this I knew I had to read it. It’s always the best feeling when you discover an author you’ve never read and find gold in the power of their writing.
Filled with sweetness made from an adorable little girl and a romance that tugs at your heart strings. That along with deeply emotional moments made this book unputdownable. Tucker was the master of making my heart melt. A sweet attentive father, a truly good man, and bonus he’s deliciously sexy also. I fell head over heels for him and his precious little girl right along with Camryn.
Camryn herself is equally as wonderful. A woman with a huge heart the bond she forms with Tucker’s daughter nearly outshines the beautiful romance with her and Tucker at times. Even with the heartbreaking moments that they’ve all lived through the feel good sweetness still pours off the pages wrapping you up in a blanket of happiness.

5 Tucker and Cam Stars

I really enjoyed this book. It’s a single dad romance, but it’s so much more than that.

Tucker is Daddy to 4/5 yr old Shayne who has to be one of the sweetest, funniest children I’ve ever read in a book. Aww- she’s so cute.

Camryn is the new school nurse at Shayne’s new school but she’s also Tucker’s new neighbour. They both have heart breaking back stories. There is an excellent twist and a couple of things I didn’t see coming.

The plot is good and it’s well paced - I couldn’t put it down once I started. At the point of inevitable conflict, Tucker is so harsh. I felt Cam forgave him too quickly. But there are 2 cracking epilogues and a gorgeous HEA.

HEA? Yes
Cheating? No - these two are solid.

Re read via audio book in March 2020. Excellent narration by Callie Dalton and Teddy Hamilton. I fell in love with this book all over again. I have increased my rating from 4.5 to 5 stars.

4 Super Cute Stars

Single daddy books are my jam and Everything I never Wanted was a super cute read that I truly needed. I wanted a light, no-fuss kind of book that I could get sucked into and put a smile on my face. If you are looking for a low angst, heart-warming book with a sexy single Daddy then Everything I never wanted is for you.

The thing that I really liked about this book was that the little girl had a big role. I love it when an author gives the kid a good portion of the book and she was 100% adorable. I also liked that the little girl took to the Heroine and it made for a cute read.

Tucker is a single dad and he is dealing with his daughter, who has a major personality. He isn’t looking for someone, but when the new girl Camryn comes into town everything changes.

Tucker and Camryn have the typical relationship in the sense, they meet, they get to know each other and slowly feelings form. Like I said there is little angst so my mind and heart was at ease. Of course there is enough tension to keep you interested and going.

This is my first book by this author and it will not be the last.

Everything I Never Wanted
By: K. Street
5 Doodlebug Stars

Give me a hot single parent dad who is totally an all-around great guy and I am in!!!

Tucker is surviving…barely.
It’s been 4 years…
He can’t move on…
He hasn’t grieved any…
Not for any of them.

But the little girl, his ‘doodlebug’ is everything. It’s not been easy…

Camryn is ready to start the new chapter in her life. Moving to a new town, starting a new job, this is how the chapter starts. She would have never thought that ‘Lucille’ would end up being sick. What a way to meet the first person in town!

I absolutely enjoyed reading this book. Of course Laura being in the story helped tremendously because as a mother, that is how I would treat my son too <3

If you are looking for a great single dad romance book, pick this one up! The story was quick paced and flowed great. Plus, who doesn’t love a great ‘Girls Just Want to Have Fun’ sing along.

As I write this review, I am contemplating each word so that I may give this fantastic book the truly outstanding praise that it deserves. K. Street’s Everything I Never Wanted gives your heart all the feels and your mind all the deliciousness that you could ever want from a story.

Camryn has lost her way and is moving on. A new town with a new job is just the fresh start she needs. Tucker has his hands full with his Doodlebug, Shayne, but when his path crosses with Camryn, something changes that has him looking at life a little bit different.

Tucker and Camryn’s first meeting will have you chuckling out loud. Their second meeting will have you turning the pages to get to the rest of the story. I fell in love with their witty banter, sexy hotness and the passion of their emotions.

Shayne is Tucker’s daughter and absolutely one of the brightest stars of this book. She is precious in her attitude towards life and brings a sparkle to the story.

K. Street’s writing is brilliant; she brings so much to this story and the characters. This book immediately jumped to the top of my best books list and I will be recommending, strongly and loudly, that everyone read it now. 5 Stars #2OCCMS

Soooo.. I liked it. I didn’t love it though. I wanted to SO BAD! But I couldn’t.
There were just a lot things that the heroine did that I just didn’t think was okay. Mainly after this big emotional event, she just... I don’t know, she totally disregarded herself, her thoughts, her feelings, everything. And I know she loved him, she loved his little girl but I just didn’t agree with it.
And honestly if you read it, you might not even notice it. The situation after the “big event,” was kind of skimmed over. It was just her little actions that caught my attention.

If i could give this book more than 5 ✨ i would!!! It was so freakin good!!! I was told to read this by my sister, as we read A Lot of the same things. She had found this on KU and said it was fantastic. I stopped what I was reading at the time because she sold me on “single Daddy with cute kid”. We had never read anything by this author and now I want to read EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!
If you make me cry or gasp in the prologue...I’m generally sold!! Nowhere to go but up..right??? Well let me tell you...this book skyrocketed for me!! It had that hook that had you from the first word!! Two DAMAGED souls man (my fave) who happen to find each other when they both needed each other so much. God bless’em!!! Tucker...everything you want in a man!! Hot, single, devoted father, and full of sacrificial secrets!!! The twist in this book gave me ALL THE FEELS!!!! Camryn...abandonment issues with every right to feel that way! She wasn’t weak though! She was feisty and she took all her loss and used it! Shayne, this baby girl MADE the book!! She was such a joy to read!! The big blow up was so good and I was so mad but it was all worth it! AND PRAISE JESUS FOR NOT 1 but 2 epilogues and I was totally swooning!!! I’m now gonna look for anything this author writes because I loved it!!!!!

Love, loss, fear...those are just a few of the emotions Everything I Never Wanted deals with.
I sat down to read this book and could not stop, I literally read it in one day and was left wishing there were a few more chapters.
I easily fell in love with Shayne, she was too adorable not to.
Camryn was pretty amazing herself, someone who has some issues and isn't perfect but is willing to fight for those she cares about, she was perfect.
And Tucker.
A single dad who is a gentleman, great son and with shoulders strong enough to take on others burdens and help them carry them? Yes please!!
This book tugs at your heart, is a bit emotional and a ton amazing.
This is my first book by the author and I'm floored, I'm sorry I didn't know about her until now but I'll remedy that by hitting her backlist.
Loved this book from beginning to end, the secondary characters were memorable too, I'd love to read about a few of them.

"You don't get to choose your hand, but you can decide how to play the cards."

For my first K Street book, I was pleasantly surprised. For someone that doesn't read a lot of cutesy, sweet books, I immediately fell in love with her characters and was enjoying the storyline. I also read select few single daddy books because I am always afraid the story may not live up to my expectations from what I have read and loved previously, but I usually love the sound of them because there is nothing sexier than a man handling his business. While this book embodied the sweetness of a man not sure that he can love again, it was also a very temperate read. Not overly emotional, and with zero angst, it was definitely not one with any turmoil - but it was a good read. I'm glad I read it because not only did I get a good read, but I got to hear a new-to-me author's voice as well. But for as sweet as it was, it was also anticlimactic and slow in some parts for me. Not bad, just wasn't the emotional and deep book I was hoping for given the subject matter at hand.

This book isn't exactly the kind of read, for me, that I can shout from the rooftops about how emotionally challenging it was because it just....wasn't. It was a sweet vacation read, a light in the feels department kind of read; one that you don't necessarily have to read all in one sitting because you are busy and running around, but you can pick it right back up and start reading again. It was an easy read with enough activity to keep the story moving along, but not enough nail-biting turmoil to suck you in and make you have to follow along closely so you don't miss anything. Just.....easy.

I do feel like the chance to embellish a little more on some of the storyline arcs that she threw in there was a missed opportunity. We met secondary characters and went into great detail with them and spent a good amount of time building their character, yet their reason for being a part of the story wasn't entirely relevant, leading me to believe they weren't really necessary to the storyline. But with the character building, I also feel like I missed out on some good story building as well. I mean, I don't need to read that you added the water and oil, and then cracked two eggs to mix it in the batter to make cupcakes (super descriptive break down of events) and then in another part, we missed some imperative scenes that led up to certain events because we jumped an entire month later in their story but we didn't get that emotional buildup to it (super NON descriptive brush over of events). Yet, for instance in other parts, it's almost as if the buildup to, let's say, the big secret was not indicative of the actual secret we were told, so I felt a little harumph about it after it was all said and done too.

I loved Tucker and his personality, and the fact that he was a standup man was not lost on me. While he was a good and worthy man, one part threw me off and it made me squint my eyes at him hardcore. I was none too pleased with him and his mouth. Not only did that happen at the very end, but it cleared up quite expeditiously and I was left shaking my head as to where the craving came from, the need to be back together. The ache to hold her and love her and feel her....and kiss her. I wanted that grit. I wanted that pull...and I just didn't feel it. Again, some parts were super developed and explained, and then others were glossed over, leaving so many questions. This ending being one of them.

Camryn had such a good disposition to her, especially with kids. She was such a natural, so with her being in the position she was in, it wasn't so far fetched and it really rounded out her character. She had her walls, but it wasn't anything that was touched on in great depth.

Kids in books are not a favorite of mine in general, but I was actually pleasantly surprised. Sometimes they are over exaggerated, and sometimes the author hides behind the cutesy side to to help carry the story. While Shayne did help, she wasn't the only entertainment for the book. Shayne has to be my favorite kid from a book in a while. She was definitely cute, but even though she was a significant part of the story, there were parts without her too and I liked those parts just as well.

Overall, some of this felt predictable, but it was an extremely sweet and smile-worthy read. I know this reads as one long complaint about the book, but I assure you it is not. I liked her characters, the story (besides the grrrr part), it was really cute to read, and the flow was easy to follow. Again, light and airy read with zero angst/turmoil. So if you are looking for a quick and easy, sweet and lovey-dovey read, this one is a good option! It wasn't bad, it wasn't my favorite...it was just good.

I do love a single dad story.
This was sweet and not what I was expecting at all. I don’t think I have actually listened to K. Street book before but I enjoyed it and I like that ok there was a little drama which is to be expected it didn’t drag out.
And Tuckers daughter “Doodlebug” was the sweetest she kinda of stole the show for me and I loved it.

Cam is kinda perfect for them so again I just enjoyed the story.
I loved, loved the narration.

This was a rather short story, but I really enjoyed it. The little girl was so sassy and disarming, that I was rooting for her that Tucker and Cameron would give her one big happy family (and I don't even like kids). And of course that the MC's could get past their loss and insecurities/demons.

Another good read by fresh new author K. Street. I finished her 1st release "Healing the Broken" which I absolutely loved. Maybe one of the best 1st books published by an author I have come across. So when I saw that this book was due only a few days later to be released you bet your sweet ass I one clicked the hell out of it. I wasn't disappointed.

Tucker is a man with a life of great loss and secrets. His brother was KIA on foreign soil. His mother took it extremely hard. His wife died from cancer shortly after the birth of his daughter. He has manned up, raising his daughter, caring for his mom, but he isn't living, hasn't grieved and is stuck in a rut.

Enter, new to town, Camryn. Trouble with "Lucille" one of the few things left of her recently passed father leads to meeting Tucker, who stops to lend a hand. The encounter while sweet is over all to soon. But faith or Tucker's aunt, places the two back in each others paths. Camryn is renting the house next door to his. When she meets his 'doodlebug' she starts to fall for the sweet, scene stealing, little girl, who is "totes adorable (as mu niece would say)".

In doing so her being in his presence leads to him finding something, no, everything he never wanted, but has to have!

K Street is an author I will have to follow closely, don't want to miss her next release. 2 for 2. I have to read her last release out, The Fall of Cinderella, as of date of this review!!!!

He said he never wanted it, but he got it any way, LOL
This was a cute story. I enjoyed it very much.
The hero did make a huge mistake, but i understand him, me too: firstly i open my mouth and much more later, when my blood is cold enough i think “What did i do??”.
There is no cheating between MCs. They had relationships before meeting each other.
The hero is just great dad, great lover and caring person.
Our heroine had some issues with abandonment. I got her... Some women should not be mothers... The heroine was kind, warm person. NOT a doormat!
I will look for some more books from this author.

My apologies in advance.

I got this book, due to all the 5 stars reviews and comments on the story.

However, overboard descriptions that are completely unnecessary. It goes around and around on the same topic for few chapters getting to nowhere. Kind of repetitive. Short chapters jumping from one character to another, i got confused sometimes.

Anyways, this is the first book I have read from this author. I always gives authors second and even try a third time, because I believe in more chances.

This is not and end of the road with this author, but it really didnt WOW me. .

3.5 Easy Stars

Tucker Jaxson is a single dad living for the only 2 woman in his life - his daughter and his mother. Camryn Parker is starting over. Even though the opening pages are sad, it gives you an understanding of where each of them are coming from. Their story flows smoothly and easily - no real drama, just simple living and learning to move on, communicating and letting go, Love and family. It’s an easy beach read to pass the time.
