    It Started with a Lie by Lisa Suzanne is the first part in her brand new Truth & Lies Duet . It is told from Brian's POV and is a wonderful and quirky glimpse into the dirty workings of the man-brain. All his dirty thoughts and cocky remarks that he manages to not blurt out are still played out in full technicolor for us, the readers. At times he is a bit of a man child but at others, especially as his working relationship with Vivian progresses, he redeems himself.

    Vivian is a ball-buster. she takes no crap from Brian all wile helping maintain his cover story. It is her no-nonsense attitude that is beautifully paired with her compassion for his feelings over their situation that seem to change his perspective on things. As this is part of a duet it is obviously hard-wired with a cliffhanger ending and it is a doozy. It might be a little predictable to some people but it is still a really good build up for everything to go to hell all at once.

    I'm very excited for the next book to release...It Ended with the Truth! Enjoy!

    I met Brian Fox in A Little Like Destiny series (which I loved) when he was getting revenge on his rock star brother, Mark by going after the woman Mark was interested in. I really didn’t like him at all because he seemed so self-serving and revenge doesn’t look good on anyone. Besides that he had no problem having a fling with his best friend and business partner’s on again off again girlfriend or even letting his best friends and business partners know the dire straits their business was in.

    I have to say that it takes a really good author to change my opinions on someone who seemed to have no redeeming qualities to someone who I ended up really rooting for. The business he had with his two partners and with his brother Mark footing a lot of bailouts for Brian, is in financial trouble. Mark gets an upper hand on Brian when Brian asks for money once again so Mark sends in the “fixer” as in Vivian who is an expert at pulling businesses back into the black.

    Brian hates the idea of Vivian being in his life and sharing his office with this woman who has the job of pulling Brian back to live within the businesses means and his own personal means as well. The chemistry between these two is amazing and Vivian is giving Brian a conscious his had lost along the way. Will all of this be too late though? Is the business that he loves going to go down in flames, what will his friend think of Brian’s latest involvement with his girlfriend and what secret is the proper, smart and beautiful Vivian hiding? I can’t wait to see what happens in the next installment!

    I try started with a lie and then...well I am not sure. Not in a bad way but as a huge fan of the author and these characters, you build up i relationship, decide how you feel and then....you get blindsided by new information which totally changes your point of view.

    Cannot wait for the second in the duet.

    A brand new series that when I started to read this I wasn't aware of that Brian Hall was in a previous series.
    I need to go back and read A Little Like Destiny Series which gives you Brian Halls backstory.
    I absolutely love this book cover. He's gorgeous and fits the character image perfectly. The synopsis along with the cover intrigued me.
    A frolic enemies to lovers office romance with the perfect dose of infused angst and passion to keep your heart & mind invested.
    Characters are real, fun, and flawed. I loved the witty banter between Brian Hall and Vivian Davenport. With the intense chemistry these two have you can feel the tension & need between them.
    Eloquent writing narrative & a flawless writing style that captures the essence of the characters.
    I not only fell in love with this story I fell in love with the characters.
    The more I flipped the pages the more I couldn't stop and needed more.
    With a jaw dropping twist with a cliffhanger that leaves you thunderstruck as well as a book hangover.
    I so cannot wait to read It Ended With The Truth. October cannot come soon enough.
    I cannot wait to read more books by this author.

    Needless to say, I am not a fan of Brian Fox. What he did in the past really made it hard for me to see him as anything redeemable. But I was still willing to read his book to see if he made a case for himself to show that he had become a better man. Instead, I saw a guy who really hadn't learned his lesson yet. He seemed very entitled, especially with regards to his brother Mark's fortune, despite being a workaholic. The fact that Mark could be so forgiving and giving really impressed me. But this is Brian's story and I was waiting to see what kind of turning points he would make. When Vivian Davenport enters the story, I immediately liked her. She's good at her job. She's firm, knowledgeable and professional, on top of compassionate and friendly. As savvy of a businessman that Brian is, because he knows how to schmooze and to network, as well as get the work itself done, he likes to put his eggs in one basket before they've even hatched. Vivian has been hired by Mark to make sure that doesn't happen. It gets antagonistic between them because Brian isn't used to someone else, whether it be Vivian or Mark, calling the shots. However, because Brian's not in charge anymore and he's got a lot of secrets he's not willing to share, he is coming around to understanding certain truths. I didn't like the way Brian handled things and how his decisions hurt others, but I did see the guilt piling up and that he was beginning to take accountability for his actions, which is saying a lot for him. I also recognized how much he shields himself from any further wounds by acting the way he does. While I'm not exactly Team Brian yet, I am optimistic for him and he'd be lucky to have Vivian. And as for that ending, I had a suspicion there was something to reveal, but definitely not that, and oh boy, that's going to be a game changer. I'm interested to see how Brian navigates this while turning over a new leaf.

    Brian Fox 🦊 was a character from Lisa Suzanne's previous series, A Little Like Destiny. His character was one I disliked.. A LOT. Going into this series I had convinced myself that there was no way that she could change my mind. But... She did just that! Well played Lisa Suzanne.

    Enter Vivian Davenport.. She's a strong, smart independent business woman who takes no crap. She's a bit of a mystery to me but I can help but think that's intentional.

    What you thought you knew about both Brian & Vivian ends up being not the truth but lies. Fake it til you make it motto rings true with the original pretense of Brian and Viv's interactions. Soon that turns into banter which leads to flirting all while the sexual tension climbs in this enemies to lovers romance.

    Couple that with the reality of Brian seeming to grow up.. Shocker I know.😉
    It's like witnessing an ugly caterpillar transform into a beautiful butterfly and suddenly I'm cheering him on and rooting for him to spread his wings and fly.. AND get the girl too!

    The question is, can he put his douchecanoe in dry dock permanently or will he allow it to be put back into use? Dealing with the past, while living in the present and hoping for a future just may be too much to expect..only time will tell.
