When Mandy knocks on her Granfmaothers door she doesn't expect to see a tall handsome buffed man standing there with a dirty look on his face,a look like he hates her and he doesn't even know her.Mitch in a Marine first and foremost but when I got adopted by Abigail she was the first thing to family id ever had other than my other fellow Marine.I could not figure out how Abigail talked so good about family members who did nothing to help her. After Abigail went to bed I decided to get to the bottom of how her family let her life like than with her house needing so much repair.After almost blowing a gasket Mitch and Mandy finally started to get things straightened out.What Mitch doesn't want to admit is he finds Mandy sexy and wants her she's tying him in knots.Mandy has faced lost when her fiance was killed in action.Now no matter how attracted to Mitch she is she's afraid to act on it.When she finally starts dating him and they spend time in his apartment he gets a call he has a mission she has a full blown panic attack.Then he calls her because he's worried while on the mission and she breaks up with him.Will Mandy realize how much she loves him before it's too late?Will Mitch make it back from his mission?Will Mitch give Mandy a second chance?Can she forget her loss and grab life for all its worth I can hardly wait to see what's next by this multi talented author.The way she brings the characters to life before your eyes.I voluntarily decided to review this advanced reader copy because it's a great adult romance story and I wanted other avid readers to know it's so worth reading.

    I found this book thoroughly entertaining, from the first chapter to the last! I have known a few people in the same situation as Mandy (lost a partner in the forces), so I most definitely understand where she was coming from--however quite a few of the people I know NEVER got over the 'fear' of dating another forces personal for the very same reason Mandy had, so to read that someone else can actually 'get over their fear' is well inspiring to say the least. So yes I will be recommending this book to EVERYONE I know.

    This is a standalone military, romance novel with a HEA. It has convincing characters and setting, some steamy moments and was competently written from a technical point of view. The only reason I didn't give more stars was that it is predictable.

    After I finished reading the book, I learned in the Acknowledgement that this was the first book Ms Lamont had written. I had been thinking, as I prepared my review in my mind, that I was a little irritated with how wishy-wasn't Mandy was with Mitch. Having lost her fiance -- her only love -- killed in action in Afghanistan, and knowing that Mitch was going to (and did) fly off on missions, and this being a first book, I slid off that irritation and enjoyed the love story between a hot, lovable soldier and a bruised, lovable woman. How she redeems herself to Mitchnin the end was phenomenal, and the Epilogue was epic. Wonderful read.
