Who thought writing ‘LOSERS’ on a menu could lead to an affair of love notes?

It didn’t start out as love. How could it when I vowed never to fall in love.

Reef Burton, the sexy blue-eyed Australian football player, and his mates are definitely not ‘Losers’, yet writing it on a menu gave me a reason to smile. Only it didn’t make it to the trash.

He returns to the restaurant where I work wearing his killer smile. I wasn’t to know those squiggly lines and arrows meant something—an offensive play his football team learned at an earlier training session.

He’ll see what I wrote. Apart from it being awkward the next time I serve him, he could also report me to my boss.

I can’t lose my job when in hindsight, I need to pay all the bills rolling in and care for my father.

I’m thankful he kept it as our secret.

Until he left me a note.

Responding will only lead to more trouble.

So, when Mr Blue Eyes-Blond Surfy-Hair gives me one of his spine-tingling looks, how can I resist?

* COCKY NOTES is set in Australia and takes place before Cocky Bastard.

A heartwarming and captivating story. Another fantastic addition to CHC Novels . From the first page I was swept by the plot and Reef and Macy. I loved how their relationship began with little notes and then proceeded. The story was well written and characters were well developed.

The story is captivating and engaging and my heart broke for both Reef and Macy. Both Reef & Macy have trust issues . Word and past experience can’t change a person view on life and how they view themselves and others around them and that’s what happened with Macy until she met Reef an AFL football player who breaks all her barrier. I was totally invested in the story and was rooting for these two . This was the first time I am reading this author and I really enjoyed this book, It was very well written with characters I was totally invested in.

It’s really hard to love someone when you don’t love yourself. This is the dilemma that Macy finds herself in. After spending a lifetime feeling inadequate and unloveable she is shocked that the handsome Reef wanted her.

In this story you get to see struggle from both Macy and Reef as they work through trust issues along with everything else.

It was great to see so much of Chance in this story! All in all this was a good story of much more than love, but of respect for each other and themselves..

Reef the all star AFL player and Macy the girl that he is infatuated with both are so guarded and keep each other at arms lengths to stop form being hurt but what they are doing is hurting each other. Cocky Notes is a little frustrating at time and I would’ve like to of shaken the pair of them but if you want to see true love prevail this is the book for you.

I have not read any of the other cocky hero books, but will be trying them out now, so this could be a total standalone. I was lucky to receive an arc from the author. I totally loved Mace and Reef and devoured the book all in one go. They both have trust issues and have a hard time letting go and just falling in love completely. Macy keeps a tight schedule so she doesn't have time to find love and Reef stays busy keeping fit. Do they find a way to make room in thier lives for a relationship?

I’m a fan of Leesa Bow’s work and haven’t read the Cocky Series, so I’m not familiar with cameo’s from that series but I will say I did love all the characters I met. Seeing characters from Leeds’s other books always brought a smile to my face. Macy really frustrated me throughout this book and I know the angst was probably Leesa Bow’s intention so well done to her for riling me up so much with just one character. Overall it was a fantastic story that kept me reading til the end.

Reef is a man who isn't shy when showing affection, "he throws my bag over his shoulder. Takes my hand as though it’s a natural thing for him to do and leads me in the direction of his car..." I liked this book, I liked Reef.

Cocky Notes is a book that everyone seems to love, but it did not work for me. I wanted to love this, but I just couldn’t connect to it at all.

The story had the potential to be interesting, to have a lot of emotion in it, but I did not care for the characters at all. I felt nothing for them, and the more I read the less interested in them I was. I’m sure this is just one of those cases where I wasn’t the right audience, but my interest in this one never appeared due to my inability to connect.

I’m sure Cocky Notes will work for some – it seems to be working for many – but it did not work for me.

Love this take on the Cocky World. Reef is the handsome hero and Macy his love interest. Their chemistry is off the charts, this is a sexy one sitting read because I needed to know the ending! Big fan of Leesa's work and I love that she has incorporated her own Men of the Bay characters into this! And of course Chance from Cocky Bastard.

This is my first read from Leesa Bow and I really enjoyed it, granted wanted to throw my kindle a few times cause both Macy and Reef frustrated the hell outta me!! More Macy than Reef, just because of her past history. She doesn't believe in love, and doesn't believe she's good enough. Reef has been burned in the past and had his heart broken, so he too has trust issues...he's more willing to open up than she is though, she has this push/pull thing going that finally may push Reef away for good. And there is a pretty epic secret that you don't find out about until half way through the book...will Reef and especially Macy get their shit together, and work out...or will they let outside forces tear them apart for good? You'll just have to read Cocky Notes to find out!!

This was a great story, I really enjoyed it.
Two flawed characters (like all of us) who both make mistakes based on their past life experiences, afraid to take a chance that this time can be different.
I enjoyed the Australian references and locations.
It was nice to see Chance from Cocky Bastard.
A few ups and downs, leading to a HEA.
Nice read

You guys … MORE GREATNESS!!! Warning: do not start this book in the evening because it will be really hard for you to put it down once you begin. Not only did I read until around 3 am, but after I finished, I couldn’t shut my brain off for a good hour! You’ve been warned.

Macy stole the show for me. Sometimes, when I read a book, one of the leads stands out so much that I immediately want to be that person when I grow up. I want to be Macy when I grow up . There is nothing about this chic not to like. She is fearless. She carries the world on her shoulders but is also full of insecurities. She was so well written I just couldn’t stop reading. Reef was also an excellent character with his own baggage and insecurities only he hid behind his fame so the world wouldn’t see those insecurities. He had that advantage. Man, this story pulled some serious emotion out from me. The author did not make it easy on these two, but I think that’s what captivated me the most. Real life is not always easy. Yes, sometimes, but not likely LOL That’s what made this story so believable and relatable.

I love everything about this story. From the notes aspect to the characters to the conflict to all of it. Well done!!

Thanks to the author for sending me an ARC of this book to review!

I have never read another Cocky Hero Club novel but I love Leesa Bow's work and have read many of her stories. Not only do I love that they are set in the same state I live in, South Australia, but also teach me lots about the sport the current book boyfriend plays.

Curious to know what this new book was about, I intended to just read a chapter or two one night and sat up until 3am infatuated by the story and its characters.

Reef Burton is a sexy blue-eyed Australian football player who plays for an Adelaide club, loves to surf, misses his family in Melbourne and regularly has coffees at Lombardi's. Not only does he enjoy discussing the game plan there with his team mates but he also likes to leave cocky notes on the menu to the girl he is captivated by. Macy is a young waitress full of fear and baggage, a past of disappointments and a present of responsibility. She has no self confidence and can't therefor fathom the interest coming from the beautiful and successful sports boy and tells herself he just wants a booty-call relationship or one night stand with her. Will he prove her different? Will he behave as expected? Is he better than a football player's reputation?

I am actually blown away with the emotion that you can feel that has been put into this book.
This book is full of angst from both sides of the party, Macy playing 'her part' having no vision of overcoming her fears yet, Reef worried about her finding the truth about him.

A book I thoroughly enjoyed, not only for Reef and Macy, but also for the many beautiful crafted side characters such as Adele & Zac, Chase and Felicity, Macy's dad and Bernadette.
Well deserved 5 Stars ***** for keeping me on my toes hoping for a happy ending, hoping Macy will learn to see what we can see. A girl deserving of a healthy relationship.

Cocky Notes is set in Australia and is the story of AFL football player Reef and waitress Macy. This is a love story set againest the back drop of two people with trust issues. Macy who since her mom walked out when she was 15 when her dad need his wife the most after a terrible accident Reef who is ex girlfriend betrayed him in the worse possible way.

Macy is Reef and his teams waitress when ever they come in the diner and the notes the men make for different footballs is always made on the back of their menus one left menu and Reef and Macy love story sort of begins but mistrust and mis-understandings keep getting in this couples way,

Just as Macy is ready to put the past behind her Reef final lets Macy in to a secret that could change everything

We get to met Chance before he knew Aubrey - If you are not familiar where the Cocky Hero Club comes from it really started with their story!

Cocky Notes is a sports romance set in the Cocky Hero Club world. This was my first book by Leesa Bow. It was a fun read being set in Australia & having some Australian expressions, terms and lingo.
Reef is an AFL player. He meets Macy and is smitten. What starts out as a “fun” relationship turns into more. They both have trust issues and it takes time to overcome that. Macy lives a simple life working, studying and taking care of her father. When she meets sexy Reef, she can’t believe he would like her. Macy has self image issues and throughout the book, grows as a person and in what she deserves in life.
The two are a great match, have great chemistry and banter.
Cocky Notes is a fun read and a great addition to the club!

4 Star Review Cocky Notes (Cocky Hero Club) by Leesa Bow
AUDIO REVIEW:

I am loving this series as I have found so many new authors to read. Cocky Notes is part of The Cocky Hero Club inspired by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward.

I was hooked on the story that Leesa Bow wove from the first to the last chapter. I really loved the main characters of Reef Burton and Macy Reynolds; although there were times that Macy frustrated me. The entertaining secondary characters added another level to my enjoyment and I would love to read more about them in the future.

Set years before Cocky Bastard it was so much fun to see the glimpses of a younger Chance appear in this story. There was some angst, great banter and humour that had me laughing. It was also a romantic, entertaining, fun read that left me with a smile on my face.

It was steamy and the chemistry between Reef and Macy sizzled. The narration by Alix Dale and Nathaniel Black detracted from my enjoyment at times. I am Australian and they tried too hard to sound Australian, if that makes sense, however the story is solid.

Macy Reynolds looks after he father and works at a local Italian restaurant waiting tables where she meets Reef Burton who is an AFL player. They officially meet through a series of notes on the cafe’s menus.

What an interesting concept for nowadays to meet through such an old fashion method-notes. I love it and it worked well, they were varied and interesting too.

Reef and Macy’s characters developed throughout the story and they both grew so much; in themselves and their ability to reach out and trust. I really like both lead characters and they make one fantastic couple. Sure their chemistry is off the charts red hot but it’s a lot deeper than that though. Overcoming personal trauma and disappointment a huge barrier in their relationship moving forth.

There are quite a few underlying issues in the book as well that are all relevant and the authors handled these well. Actually, that’s one of the big things I noticed-how fast paced the book is and so easy to read. It appears to be a light romance however the smooth handling of these issues is the reason why you don’t get bogged down or thrown about on a steep emotional rollercoaster.

I loved this story and would love to read more books about Reef’s friends or even Georgia.

FINALLLY
Someone has taken Chase's beginnings and given a story set in the Aussie sport scene where they play hard and love hard as well.

Reef Burton is a AFL player whose caught the waitress at his local haunt writing Losers on the menu . It starts of an exchange of notes that get bolder and riskier as time goes by.
Macy has been hurt one too many times and doesn't have many escapes in life. She doesn't want to rock the boat and her life revolves around her dad

However Reef, can't get her out of his head and very quickly a causal relationship forms through the notes.

Forcing Macy out of her comfort zone and embrace the Cocky surfer who can't seem to get out her head. But Macy isn't ready for the ride she about to get, that could change the course of her life.

It's a very new adult story but I love the story. It's very Aussie in many ways with the culture and the the sport scene. It's was fun seeing a different side to Chase and Adele who appear as secondary characters in this novel. This story is very sterotypical of the Aussie nature. It's laid back which is all part of the Aussie charm. It's cut throat game and the media does like to portray sport scene in a certain light which Bow touches on well in the story.
It's not full on your face but it makes the story balance as these two figure out things
There is the obvious problem that quickly comes apparent as these notes become deeper. It's not an over night fix and Bow made sure for these two to really address all angles of their relationship before truly settling down. Cocky Notes is the fun sport romance that brings plenty of angst and sexual tension.

The Cocky Hero Club collections are wonderful! I love how they all steam from the original books but we get the writing style and new characters from other authors. I like Lessa Bow and Cocky Notes was an entertaining and fun read, but it was missing just a little bit for me. The writing style was great but I wasn't really able to connect to the characters, though other readers might be able to!

All in all, Cocky Notes was a good read with an interesting story line. I wish I was able to connect with the characters, but they were a big hardened and that was just a part of the story that the author was showing. I give the book 4 outta 5 stars and do recommend you checking it out!

PS: Thank you to Leesa Bow and Cocky Hero Club and Give Me Books PR for allowing me an advanced copy of the book to read and review honestly.

Reef is a man who lives and breathes football so it only seems natural that after practicing wit his teammates that they would then go out afterwards for breakfast. They never thought that their animated discussions and drawing plays on the menus would draw the ire of their waitress but when Reef finds out he is so very glad it did.

Macy has had to be strong for her father but her past has always left her feeling that she isn’t enough. Reef may be attracted to her but she believes that those feelings will diminish in time and he will move on to his next conquest but when they begin exchanging notes she may just realize that there is a lot more to Reef than she thought.

Both Reef and Macy bear the emotional scars of their pasts which makes their journey a little rocky but anything worth having is worth fighting for.

Cocky Notes takes us into the world of Cocky Bastard with appearances by one of our all time favourites, Chance. Reef and Macy are a little infuriating at times with the push and pull of love and trust. A story with a hidden meaning that we should all take notice of, that we need to love ourselves first and foremost before we can love anyone else. These two characters suffer with trust issues due to their past which has them keeping their distance and ultimately hurting each other. Their story had drama, passion, chemistry and kept you on the edge of your seat as Macy and Reef test your patience. These two take a journey of ups and downs to reach a HEA that will have your heart soaring.

This is a new author for me but I have to say I really enjoyed the writing style and the story so I will be checking out more of their work. I was pulled into this story fairly quickly but I just felt like something was missing to give it the wow factor, despite this I did enjoy the story alot and would recommend it.

Cocky Notes wins the game for me.

First off, I have to say that I’ve loved the books of Leesa Bow’s that I’ve read, and I hit this one in a single sitting. Family needs (they’re adults) be damned, I was busy finding out where Macy and Reef were heading!

Set in Chance Bateman’s early professional soccer playing days, our hero and his boys play AFL. Chance and Reef grew up as friends, and the rivalry between the codes is done with the typical sarcastic Aussie banter.

I loved both Macy and Reef. While neither of them were relationship game players, both had been badly hurt in the past, but it was Macy that blew hot and cold. I really wanted to kick her in her womanly bits but Ms Bow did such a great job in getting across the maternal emotional damage done to her psyche, that I continued reading with that understanding in the back of my mind, all while absolutely loving Reef and his open display of feelings in wanting to get to know her more.

Wow, just wow. This AFL player with his cocky notes to a restaurant waitress with no self esteem, was all kinds of swoony stuff that makes Leesa Bow’s books the ones that must be read. He hung in there like a champ until a team mates drunken joke went too far. And from there it seemed these guys couldn’t cut a break. A face from the past and a secret that might be too much to overcome, Ms. Bow really put some hurdles in front of them. I loved it.
This book is another great addition to the Cocky World family that we are all scrambling for, and I recommend it as great reading. 4.5 Stars.

Reef and Macy’s story started out in such a cute way and I liked the way these two kinda broke the ice and navigated new waters even though they both had some major trust issues. I enjoyed this story but found that these two grated my nerves

I love a good book set in Australia. Even better when it includes my favorite Aussie Cocky Hero, Chance! And wouldn't you know it, Reef is good friends with Chance! Reef and his teammates frequent the Lombardi's diner where Macy is a waitress. They use the menus to strategize game plays. Macy writes her own note on a menu, which Reef sees. Afraid that he'll report her to the owner, Macy is surprised when Reef leaves her a note of his own. Through a series of notes written on the menus between the two, a friendship develops into something more. They both have pasts that have left them jaded and relationship wary. But together they wade through the detritus of their pasts into a loving future.

While I am well-versed in the Cocky Hero world, this is my first Leesa Bow book. Thank you, Leesa, for giving me a story I will always treasure set in a place I long to visit again. I look forward to more of your stories!

I received an advance copy of this book at my request and voluntarily left this review.

What a great addition to the Cocky Hero Club and yet another relatively new author for me to follow.
This book ticked all my boxes, I smiled, I laughed, I swooned and at times I held my breath as I joined Reef and Macy on their journey to happiness, a journey that wasn’t easy, a journey with a lot of bumps along the way and a fair few twists and turns, all of which kept me on the edge of my seat.
I was captivated from the first page to the final line and this author really is excellent at drawing you in and making you feel part of the story. The chemistry was sizzling, the characters adorable and easy to relate to and the plot was believable so I guess all that’s left for me to say is you need to one click this gem of a read. Looking forward to reading more from this very talented author.

I really enjoyed this book. The first half is from Macy's point of view and you get to see why she protects her heart so much. Its not that she doesn't want to believe in love . She is just too afraid to let her guard down and get hurt.
Reef, an AFL footballer catches her eye but she is not letting her walls down anytime soon. Reef has had his pain too but knows when something is so special you have to fight for it.
Read this great book and discover if they both get the love they deserve. Great Book,
