Jay, our Hero, has been shunned by every woman in NYC because his ex, Jessica (an influencer), gave him a bad reputation of being a "Dirty Liar" (aka cheater) which he never did!

He is at the point in his life when story begins of hanging everything up and moving away because no woman wants anything to do with him and his business is suffering.

Valerie is a Canadian resident who comes to the US to get away from her rich asshat daddy & ex Fiancee. Her roommate advises her to seduce Jay, The Dirty Liar, into marrying her so that she can stay in the US as her Visa is about to expire. While that is her initial plan upon meeting Jay, she quickly gives it up when she meets him and sees what a wonderful kind man he is.

I am not doing justice to how great this story was because it is more then what I mention in this review with wonderful characters you can route for. You feel Jay's pain at being falsely accused and you route for him to get his HEA with Val who is an awesome heroine - beautiful, strong, witty, funny & kindhearted.

I loved their developing relationship and how Val fought to make things right for him. I also loved the fact that Jay was not a Manho and not a ONS type of guy. He said more then once in the story that he didn't want to sleep with Val just for sex. He wanted to develop a relationship first with her. How often do we get that?!

I also liked the fact that even though Jay's ex ruined his life, he didn't have anything ever negative to say about her and that Val wanted to help her too to get the truth!!

All in all, this was a nice sweet romance that you will enjoy.

Safety:
No cheating. Safe.
No OW/OM drama. Jay's ex does peek in at times but not to cause trouble or anything.
Neither are virgins.
No Manho.
HEA
Recommend? Yes!

Jay Reed is real!!! If youโ€™ve read MISTER MONEYBAGS then youโ€™ll know who this guy is and I defy you not to feel sorry for him.
This story was bloody brilliant and I thoroughly enjoyed every word of it. Poor Jay isnโ€™t loving life, and thatโ€™s all the fault of a certain Dexter Truitt, and a chance (or maybe not...) meeting with the gorgeous Val sets their romance in motion. Jay may not be a liar, but he most certainly is dirty, and I just swooned every time he opened his mouth. I adored Val, she was sassy, strong and the perfect match for our hero.
I feel like Iโ€™ve really hit the jackpot with these books, and loving the appearances from all my favourite Keeland and Ward characters (in this case itโ€™s Dex and Bianca)

Wow talk about redemption. Jay is not very popular his life had drastically changed, at one time he was popular and could have anyone he wanted, til now, now he is known as a liar and known wants him, that is til Valerie. Valerie is trying to get her VISa to prove that she can make it on her own and she sets her sights on Jay. Jay is shocked that someone does want him and let me tell he was a good help to Valerie he helped her get motivated and come into her own, and he was dirty while at it.. Another new author for me and I am appreciating that.

The Cocky Hero Club books have convinced me I need to go and read about Chance and Aubrey, and Iโ€™ve slowly been convinced to go and find out more about Graham and Soraya. None of the other books I have read thus far had convinced me to find out more about Bianca and Dexter, but Dirty Liar did it in a single book. I adored Dirty Liar, and it convinced me I need to find out more about the characters that played such a vital role in this one.

From the very first page, Dirty Liar had me hooked. I was pulled right in and fell quickly for the characters. There was so much packed into this one, and I could not get enough of it. The more I read, the more I fell in love with the characters. The chemistry between the characters was wonderful, the storyline had plenty packed into it, and I could not get enough.

All in all, this was a wonderful read.

I received an ARC for review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Oh, how I love this book. Have you ever wondered if the person you were impersonating was an actual real person? Well, thatโ€™s what happened to Jay Reed.

Jay Reed has had his life turned upside down in 6 months. Once being able to pick up any girl he wanted, he now gets glares and not so lovely words thrown his way. That all changes the night Valerie Berdard approaches him at a bar.

โ€œSheโ€™s tiny. Delicate. The kind of woman a man wants to protect.โ€

Valerie Berdard may have come to New York to get a VISA to prove to her dad that she could do this on her own, but she may have bitten off more than she can chew. That is until she finds Jay Reed and decides to convince him to help her get her VISA.

โ€œIโ€™ve wanted Jay from the very beginning. Even when I knew I shouldnโ€™t. Even when I tried not to.โ€

Things may not look as they seem. Valerie begins to realize Jay Reed is not the Dirty Liar people claim he is. Jay Reed is a man who is starting to make her know that she can do things on her own and make her own decisions. Will Valerie possibly lose Jay when he finds out what she initially planned with him, or will he help her get her VISA?

โ€œItโ€™s not red, Val. I think you underestimate my knowledge of the pedicure process.โ€ Jay
โ€œThe pedicure process?โ€ Valโ€
โ€œThose polishes donโ€™t have names like red or pink. They have names like A Little Guilt Under the Kilt and Bubble Bath.โ€ Jay

There are so many things I love about this book. I love the banter between Jay and Valerie. They compliment each other well, and itโ€™s one of the many reasons I love Janiceโ€™s writing. I would want to be besties with Valerie, especially when she wasnโ€™t comfortable standing up for herself and being able to make her own decisions. To see where she came from and watch her gain the confidence to spread her wings were beautiful. To read about Jay sounding so down in the dump and wanting to take the easy way out to the end of realizing that everything he went through would wind up with finding his true love was perfect! There were many people I didnโ€™t like at the beginning of this book, but you canโ€™t always judge someone by what you hear. Sometimes you must get to know them for yourself to form your own opinion of them. In the end, I only didnโ€™t like two people.

I highly recommend this book and any book by Janice Whiteaker.

Oh wow! I just loved this twist on Mister Moneybags!!!! Honestly, when I read Dex and Bianca's story years ago, I was wondering what would happen if there actually was a Jay Reed and voila! I got my answer.

This was my first story from this author and I enjoyed it very much. It felt like the story that started in Mister Moneybags came full circle with Dirty liar.

I loved Valerie's journey of self-discovery and I ADORED how Jay lifted her up and supported her in reaching her true potential! I loved Celine's influence and generally the whole girl-power vibes of this book. I mean, Jay's life was ruined but Valerie's response to the person that instigated said ruination was unexpected and so very damn welcome. I mean, you see authors trying to set up strong, independent women all the time, but it's always in regards to men and some times other women get stepped over, but that's not the case here and it was so damn honest and refreshing.

I also loved how real Jay and Valerie's relationship was. Even the sex part. Coz yeah, in real life, sex can be awkward sometimes and I've honestly seen the awkwardness only ONCE in the hundreds of romance books I're read so far. And that makes it so real and unique to me, that I can't help but admire it.

There were some minor editing issues here and there, but all in all, Dirty Liar is a very nice addition to the Cocky Hero Club and I can't wait for people to read this little gem when it comes out.

Spoiler alert: sheโ€™s the dirty liar. Sheโ€™s vile, manipulative and controlling. Sheโ€™s enjoying kicking a guy while heโ€™s down. And when he sends her flowers and didnโ€™t write the card himself she decides he deserves her anger at him and itโ€™s ok sheโ€™s trying to manipulate him. Because people go to flower shops to pick out flowers because itโ€™s the pre-internet age? No. No itโ€™s not. Sheโ€™s a narcissistic bitch. The kicker is that she claims sheโ€™s trying to escape a manipulative parent. Looks like the apple didnโ€™t fall far from the tree.

Of course then she has a personality transplant and just wants to help him and his ex find happiness. Oy. I hate when charactersโ€™ personalities arenโ€™t congruent. Of course he isnโ€™t upset at her and doesnโ€™t believe she could have tried to be that evil.

In the end sheโ€™s the sweetest person with a savior complex who makes it her mission to prove her boyfriend didnโ€™t cheat on his ex girlfriend so his ex girlfriend will feel better about herself. Oy.

Oh wow... I probably sound like a broken record but sorry... not sorry...lol...
I am loving this Cocky Hero Universe, and I seriously recommend you start on this journey. This was another one I couldn't stop reading. I loved it.
Jay Reed has not had the easy life the last couple of months. Once he was 'The Guy'... He could pick up any girl and seriously get what he wanted. Well now things have gone completely the other way. Now all he gets are evil glares and women are seriously hating on him. Until the night he meets Valerie Berdard in a bar. At first he though it was just a joke, but the more he talks to her the more he figures out that maybe this women is for real.

Valerie Bedard is on a mission to prove that she can adult on her own, but maybe she was a bit hasty. Until she meets Jay Reed, and get him to help her with her plan. Jay Reed is not the person that people think he is. He is the person who is encouraging her to stand up for herself, the one who is encouraging her that she a strong independent women. But nothing comes easy...

I loved it. It was funny, sweet, hella sexy and man I fell inlove with Jay and Valerie from the start. Oh and by the way this is a new author for me and I will be checking out previous books โค ๐Ÿ˜Š This was definitely a book that I can see myself reading againโค ๐Ÿ˜Š

When his relationship ended with his ex that was only the beginning of the situation Jay now finds himself in as he now finds himself as persona non grata in town both personally and professionally and not sure how to fix the mess that his life has become.

Valerie is on a mission to forge her own independence and prove that she is a woman to be reckoned with and doesnโ€™t need the help of those who try to hold her back. When she approaches Jay at the bar, she has an ulterior motive, but they may just be the solution to each otherโ€™s problems.

Jay and Valerie were exactly what each other needed when they needed it the most. She realizes that Jay is much more than his reputation while Jay helps her find the strong and confident woman she is meant to be. Humorous interactions, hot chemistry and not only are Valerie and Jay great characters but the secondary characters really enhance the story as well.

What is this brilliant madness I just read?!

Okay, so listen, the books in the Cocky Hero Club are true standalones away from the Cocky Bastard world. They are inspired from that world, but so far, I have read over ten these stories and yes, I see the cameos by characters, but these stories are independent. However, I truly think this story would be enhanced for the better if youโ€™ve read Mister Moneybags. Thatโ€™s just an opinion, do with it what you will :)

I highly recommend this story people! It had every single thing you could possibly want in a romance fiction story and the writing was spectacular! The #feels were off the chart, the angst was edge of your seat and the chemistry was sexy sexy sizzle!!

What's that you say? Another new-to-me author for the #win? YES, THAT'S WHAT I SAY!

Valerie is breaking free for the control that has been on her to show that she can stand up and do things herself. When she meets Jay and learns what happened to him she knows that isn't who he is. Audiobook loved it!!!

This was a perfect hero club book. This was so much more. And if you have read the books then you know what Iโ€™m talking about. If you havenโ€™t then you should but either way this was a very good book. I loved all of it. A perfect book to get lost in. I have nothing negative to say though I wish there was more about her dad cause he needed to be destroyed in the business world, heโ€™s just a horrid man.

Dirty Liar is my first but certainly not my last read by this author.

Jay and Valeries story is oh so good. Jays ex has slandered his name and now women are giving him a wide berth. Val is new to the area so hasnโ€™t heard whatโ€™s being said about him.

This is a well written story with a great storyline. I loved it.

I always wondered if there was a Jay Reid, or if Dex pulled the name from a hat. I adored this book, I enjoyed the slow burn of it. The anticipation of seeing what would happen next, seeing their relationship and side character relationship develop was brilliant. Janice did an excellent job! This book was bittersweet, highly recommend it!

Jay and Valerie a story that will have you as hooked as I was. Reputation have made him a target and Valeria is a refreshing new person in town that will heal his soul and heart. Jay Reid meets his other half after having the worst 6 months of his life. If you have read Mister Moneybags then you will know why he suffered, but this story shows how becomes stronger with the help and for Valerie. Together they are stronger and more than anything anyone can use or say. Another great story that captured my heart!

I fell in love with Jay and Val. A rumor going around about Jay causes him to have every woman hating him. When Valerie comes along he questions why she's around him. As if he's being set up. He turns her proposition down flat. Once they both figure out the truth behind each others intentions, they end up trying to turn his situation around. Watching it all unfold kept me hooked to the book. I couldn't put it down. This is the first book I've read by the author and it was

I don't have much to say about this novel, but lately I've been trying to write a little something for every book I read.

I enjoyed the story; it made me laugh, it was sweet, and there was a smidge of drama that kept things interesting.

I was a little disappointed because, like the MC Valerie, I'm originally from Quebec and I wished there had bee some french mixed in the story. Whether she was from Montreal, or Quebec City or wherever, it's such a big part of Canada and that province that I thought it'd at least be mentioned. But that's a detail small enough that I easily moved past it.

I was MORE disappointed, though, when Val didn't turn out to be the sexually progressive, bold women she seemed when her and Jay first met. I don't really mind if the female leads are more shy or bold, but Valerie just didn't turn out like the way I initially thought she would which I think would've been great to see.

I think my biggest issue, though, was the actual plot as weird as that sounds.

Nevertheless, it was great to see Valerie learn to stand up for herself and learn about herself as an individual. I felt bad for her for having the family she has, and the backstory she had. It's quite a feeling when you feel like you don't really know who you are and what you like or don't like. I'm happy Jay was so open with her and gave her the openness to learn about herself at the same time as him.

It was a fun read, worth the time if you want something light!

P.S. I guess I had more to say about this than I thought haha!

A cute read

If only it were summer in my part of the world. This is the perfect lay out in the sun, relaxing by the pool, summer romance.

I really loved the female empowerment happening throughout the book. I went into it expecting a one-dimensional villainous ex-girlfriend character, and there was none of that nonsense which was a refreshing change. Jay was also a breath of fresh air as the H - smart, respectful, gentlemanly.

๐Ÿ’… I was given this book by the author in return for an honest review ๐Ÿ’…

Oh WOW this book was amazing!!! I never read Mrister Moneybags before so this was all new to me and I LOVED it so much!!!

This book had it all, intensity, DIRT, love, romance, banter, sexual attraction, twists, sadness and fabulous Hot sex!!!

This book really did deliver and can definitely be devoured in one sitting (I had to renovate in between but I did not want to put it down) The intensity between this pair just had me wanting to turn the pages to see what was going to happen next.

Jay and Val met by chance (๐Ÿ˜‰) at a bar and right from the start you could just tell this pair had some chemistry! Only Jay didn't want to act on it. Right from the start of this book we saw what Jay's real character was, he was a gentleman and as honest as they come, along comes Val to prove that, she just didn't know it yet.

The further you get in this book the more intense it becomes, be prepared for some hot sex and a whole lot of fun!

I loved 90% of the characters in this book, the love and support everyone had for one another was brilliant.Val was such a strong lady, she just had to work out her past insecurities and boy was Jay the correct man for the job!! I love a strong woman and in this book we saw a few of them and all their men loved that about them.

The only characters I did not like were her "prick" of a father, Dan the dick and crystal (though I think she was just easily led and manipulated but I got an off vibe from her straight from the start)

Jay and Val you guys are one hot DIRTY couple, I love it ๐Ÿ’…โค๐Ÿ”ฅ

If you are looking for an easy quick hot book full of fun witty banter then you need this book in your life.

Thank you so much for the pleasure of reading it โค

This book was such a tribute to women in so many ways! How we lift up and support each other, regardless of the reason why. In this case, they supported one woman who believed the wrong thing and hurt so many people. But the fact of the power they wielded is nothing short of amazing.

But along comes Valerie who has been controlled and manipulated by men her whole life and has finally broken free and is attempting to make it on her own. She teams up with Jay Reed, the man whose life has been destroyed and is known as the Dirty Liar. Once they figure each other out, their broken parts fit together in the most perfect way. Valerie has a heart the size of NYC and as everyone remarks over and over in the book, she will never belong to just Jay, he has to share her with them all.

Valerie grows so much, making new friends, planning a fundraiser with Celine, and restoring Jay's business. While doing this, she turns into the woman she was never allowed to be. The love scenes between Jay and Val are both awkward at times and yet so lovely that tears came to my eyes. Jay is such a good man and I felt so bad about what had happened to him. But he, too, blossomed under Val's love.

Thankfully, with a lot of love and hard work, we got our very HEA. I even felt sorry for and ended up caring about Jessica, thanks to our Val. This girl is something really special! And Jay had the best friends who without we may not have had our happy ending! Love Love Love! Wish I could give it 10 STARS!!

I've been meeting so many new authors this week and I can't choose my favorite.
I've been loving what I've read so far and I still have three more to go.
This new book is from the Cocky Hero Club and you must read them all.
They are all standalones and will melt your heart.
Janice M. Whiteaker is a new author to me like I've said before, and oh boy.
Her writing is so freaking awesome that I need more.
Dirty Liar is her latest release and explores the lives of Valerie and Jay.
Valerie
Jay was given the reputation of being a dirty liar. Every woman on the planet, look at him and think it.
One night at a bar, he tries to drown his pain in booze when he's interrupted by a stunning woman.
Valerie needed a man. So what better way to find one at a bar. But she didn't way a random guy. She wanted the Dirty Liar...
So good. Simple, perfect, and good.
Great plot, super engaging, and addicting. Once I started to read I couldn't put it down.
These characters shared a great chemistry and it was perfect to see how everything turned out.
Chapter after chapter got me so caught up that I couldn't stop reading it.
Love, loyalty, trust, desire are very present in this book as well as betrayal, lies, deceive, and unscrupulous people.
The extend people are willing to go to achieve their goals.
Jeez... Let's talk about some greedy people
It was a perfect book with a bunch of hot stuff into the mix.
Oh, boy Janice... What a book this was. Perfect in every way.
Can't wait for more from you. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

** 1.75 Stars โญโœจ **

Jay: ** 5+ Stars โญโญโญโญโญ **

Let's start this review speaking about that ugly cover and unattractive male model... those photoshopped blue eyes... Ugh!

I really wanted to like this book better than I did because it was fairly safe and the hero was AMAZING. Jay was one of the best guys I have ever read. I also thought it had some originality on the green-card-marriage-trope.

โ€œWhat I mean is itโ€™s a ridiculous plan. It maybe would have worked out in an eighties chick flick, but tricking a man for a VISA, especially when youโ€™re from Canada, is nothing anyone would ever have to do.โ€ I lean up. โ€œEspecially not gorgeous women with an unlimited number of other options.โ€

What threw me off was they kept stalling a 'more physical relationship'. I do not really care about sex in books but when it is used as a tactic to delay the progress of the story, repeatedly, I think is boring. Although, I liked the more realistic approach of sex when that happened.

Other problems I had with this book were it had so many coincidences and an OTT situation (kidnapping) with a non believable and easy resolution. In the last 20% or so, I could not take it anymore, I almost DNF'd innumerous times.

I did not know the concept behind this Cocky Hero Club World so that whole dynamic between Bianca/Dexter from a Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward book I had not idea existed and that caused Jay/Jessica's breakup made me roll my eyes a lot.

I adores this book!!! I haven't read most of the original books, but I do know that Jay has been speculated about quite a bit, so it was so amazing to get to know him and see what's inside his head. Plus his lady love was just incredible!

Jay has had his life turned completely upside down. He was once able to get any girl he wanted, but now they stay far away from him. When Valerie approaches him, he's at first very skeptical of her, but soon falls for this adorable woman's charm.

Valerie has spent her entire life being controlled and emotionally manipulated by men, and now she is finally spreading her wings and wants to make it on her own. After meeting Jay, Valerie soon realizes that he's not the dirty liar that he's portrayed to be -- he's so sweet, caring, loving and dirty in all the best ways!๐Ÿ˜‰ these two have such an amazing love, and watching them go through their struggles and working so hard to get their HEA brought a tear to my eye!

I also LOVED the female friendships that were formed in this book. I love when women lift each other up, and seeing Valerie blossom into the person she always wanted to be because of her friendships and relationship was just so amazing!

I'm definitely going to keep an eye out for this amazing author! Go one click as soon as you can!

I just loved Dirty Liar! It was just a great all round story that when it ended I had a smile on my face and a wish that I could read more of this super couple.

This is the first book I have read by the author and I cannot wait to read more. This is one empowering storyline that shows the power of one person to change the world and right a wrong. Valerie is a Canadian who moved to New York to get away from her controlling father and the man that he wanted her to marry. Not one to take kindly to being told what to do, Valerie embarks on a journey to set her own rules but comes up against a brick wall when she learns that her visa is about to expire. Jay is a man who used to get anyone he wanted, when it came to women, until he was outed as a dirty liar. Now he is ridiculed and may lose everything he holds dear. When Valerie approaches Jay in a bar, it is like the sun begins to rise again for him but can he trust that she does not have an ulterior motive? Readers will not be able to help becoming enmeshed in the lives of these two seemingly broken individuals who realize the strength they have when they work together. This is one storyline that really hits home that the love of a partner will make you better than you thought you could be. I volunteered to read a copy of this book.

After reading the last book in the series, I had high hopes for this book. There were just a few things that drove me crazy and kept the book at 2.75 - 3 Stars for me.

1. A guy being flagged as a 'Dirty Liar' in New York City by a social media girl with less than 1 million followers could blacklist a guy from hooking up with any girl in New York City is completely unrealistic. Too many people travel in and out of NYC to have a social media post turn a regular business owner into a pariah, especially more than a few days after the incident.

2. The sleep with him so he will immediately marry me is a wee bit unrealistic.

3. With the exception of two people, all characters were truly good, even if their actions were meant to destroy a person based on an overheard conversation.

I did like the story and both main characters but the story became to flowery towards the end. I know that the author was trying to portray the h as a kind person who could see beyond the facade people put up but it just felt like Hallmark on steroids.

Would I read something else by this as author... Yes
Was there heat... Yes
Was there descriptive sex... Yes but not overly so.

Dirty Liar โ€“ Janice M Whiteaker โ€“ 4 stars
*ARC received in exchange for an honest review*

Dirty Liar is a fun, quirky, marriage of convenience romance that is told in a dual point of view. Dirty Liar is Janiceโ€™s addition into the Cocky Hero Book Club and one you donโ€™t want to miss. I devoured this book and loved the characters, storyline and plot. This book follows Jay a man with a reputation that proceeds him, and Val, a Canadian who is trying to avoid her father and him constantly butting into her life. The pair meet at the bar and Jay instantly is attracted to Val, however, the female population has been hating on him lately for a misunderstanding with his ex, a social media influencer. Val knows Jay has a reputation; however, she is convinced he is perfect to help her finally be free from her father. The chemistry, friendship and banter between the main characters is great and the book was easy to read, funny and enjoyable. Overall, I would highly recommend to any romance fan.
