Jackson Dean is a changed man—at least he thinks he is—but when a brush with the past leads him back into territory he’s long since left behind, he finds himself at war with his conscience. Snatching Savannah Harper from a Brooklyn street may have been okay with the wild and reckless guy he used to be, but what about now?

Savannah is used to a life of brutality at the hands of her husband, but being stuffed into the trunk of a car by a brown-eyed stranger injects a fresh wave of terror into her heart.

What transpires between Jackson and Savannah surprises both of them. Despite the unconventional way they’re thrown together, they form a bond that begins to challenge everything they know.

His Past. Her present. Their future.

Surrendering to the feelings they’ve unearthed will be a minefield, but it’s going up against the unknown that tests them to their limits.

As the lines between perception and reality blur, it appears that nothing is as it seems.

Perception is not reality… and reality can be soul-destroying.

Due to the nature of the story, it contains subject matter which deals with physical and emotional abuse, and may be triggering for some people.

Kendra Leigh fell in love with words and reading as a young child. She was at her happiest when Enid Blyton whisked her away up into the magical lands at the top of the Faraway Tree with Moon-face and the rest of the gang.

Now, of course, she has more of a fondness for chocolate, cheese and hot men in suits – not necessarily in that order.

Kendra devotes her life to her devilishly handsome partner, scandalously beautiful daughter and cute as hell Shih-Tzu. She believes in love at first sight, and as well as writing and reading, Kendra has a passion for great movies and brilliantly written TV.

She enjoys writing emotional romantic suspense stories with strong female leads and men that will go to any lengths to fight for the women they fall for. Her books have a perfect blend of darkness and light.

Jackson & Savannah were utterly perfect together. Both having pasts that were less than perfect, I felt they had a connection that would ultimately bind them.

Hard as he tries to deny the connection they have Savannah's inner and outer beauty draws him in and traps him. Savannah's strength has me rooting for her and wanting her to finally be happy.

Jackson was the perfect man to help Savannah break through the shell that she's been living in and the moment she finally took hold of her future had me getting giddy and needing and I just couldn't put this book down.

Totally unexpected read and the twist and turns had me holding on for my dear life. Y 'all be prepared for an unexpected amazing ride! Kara~5 Stars

Man oh man Kendra just has a way to pour her heart and soul into her books and make you live and breathe her words right into your heart, I loved the Bound Trilogy and I loved this one in equal measure but differently.

What’s it about
This is a story that you need to go in blind so I’m just going to explain some of my thoughts. This is a book about healing, being strong and learning to stand up to your demons. I was surely intrigued by Jackson in the Bound trilogy so when I heard Kendra wrote his story I was real happy to jump in with both feet. Once I started, I was hooked line and sinker into Jackson’s story, his life, his past and also truly learned the kind of man he is. Jackson is caring, protective and loyal. But he has been through a lot to be that person.. let’s just say he has a dark past that has moulded him into the man he is now.

”You can do anything you want. You just have to believe in yourself.”

So present times he embarks on some time with the lovely yet exquisite Savannah and they have some time together that ultimately makes them think that theirs more out of life than what they are living (especially Sav ‘Sparrow’). But once out of that bubble comes real life where there’s raw pain.. mmm I ADORED Savannah, she’s so strong, fiesty and handles her situation with some good old female strength, which I admire for REALS. What I can tell you is I loved how this story unfolded, how Jackson was patient, how they gently fell in love and become their FOREVERS.

I’m not going to delve in much more, just read it, it will touch you but in the best way possible.. Highly recommended.

Enjoy Xo

I'm going to sound like a rambling idiot writing this review. I don't know if Y'all will truly understand that I read the Bound Trilogy and am in love with Ethan Wilde and Angel and the moment there is a mention of them. I'm a total goofball. I was so excited that they are a part of this story which takes away nothing from this being Jackson Dean's story. It adds to his character on the type of man he is. His love for this couple and the protectiveness, desire and feeling of love for a woman he can't resist, make him a book boyfriend to remember.

Savannah Harper's story of domestic abuse destroyed me. I was an emotional mess. Savannah endures physical, mental and verbal abuse over and over again. I reached a point where I felt useless in helping her. That's how great the writing is, it drew me in as a reader feeling powerless. Savannah has a moment where she is shown there is life and love out there for her--it's a moment. It was strong enough to leave a lasting impression on her to try and find a way out of an abusive marriage. I can't give too much because this is a story that must be experienced.

I hate that I feel my hands are tied with this review because I want to say so much. I want to scream that it's a must-read! All of my emotions were be tested and left me gasping for breath. Kendra Leigh you floored me with another great story of strength, survival and of love.

DNF at 18%. Just can’t do it. Too ridiculous.

Savannah is emotionally and verbally abused and controlled by her husband until she’s tossed in a trunk and whisked away to an isolated cabin by Jackson. Jackson is a reformed thug I guess, but now works as head of security for some wealthy guy on vacation. I dunno. Anyway, Savannah is absolutely smitten with the gorgeous guy who grabbed her off the street and tossed her in his trunk. Yep. All she thinks about is his face, eyes, body. Not too into the whole thinking of her circumstances. And the two pick cute pet names for one another after 5 minutes into the kidnap cabin stay over wine and steaks. Whatever...

Stop everything... Don't breathe, don't sleep and listen to me. One of my favorite authors, that has been away from the book world for a while now, is back and I couldn't be happier. She has been away and my heart was a mess because I missed her and I really missed her writing. The first books that I've read from her just stollen my heart and there was a secondary character there that I really wanted to hear more about and that book has finally it has arrived....
Kendra Leigh is the author that I'm talking about. She will stole your heart and you will let her...
Her writing is intense, dark with sparks of a bright light, with all the things that will make her stories the best.
Have you read the Bound Trilogy? If you have you know what I'm saying but if you haven't I totally advise you to read them all because this new book will have bits and pieces of these main characters.
Perception is her latest release and tells the stories of Jackson and Savannah.
Jackson is the Chief of securities for his best friend Ethan for a few years. He's a reserved man that had a past that keeps hunting him. Hoe can you move forward when there is things that keeps pulling you back? When he's offered a side job...
Savannah is a shell of the person she used to be. When you live a sad life you can't find happiness because when you do something will happen. Being in an abusive relationship can kill you slowly...
Dayum... Just Dayum... What was this? How can I say what was on my mind after reading this masterpiece? How can I say what is on my mind without spoiling?
This book just nailed it. The intensity portraited in each page left me anxious, speechless and overwhelmed.
The plot is superb, very well written, super engaging and intense. The darkness that surrounded it was overcome with a super bright light that warmed my heart.
The struggles each character endured might have killed someone but they overcome it and I can't say more.
Hoe can you be yourself again when you think you had lost everything? How can you find the light when you're surrounded by darkness?
The message passed to us was tHt in the darkness you can fight your straight so you must Fifi and never give up.
Kendra I've missed you so much. Your words are stuck in my mind, body and soul and I want more. I need more from you, more books to make me dream again.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

I don’t think I can remember the exact moment that I fell for Jackson in The Bound Trilogy, but when I did, I fell hard — I just loved him and I wanted his story more than anything! And the moment when Ms. Leigh confirmed that she was indeed going to write about him next... well, I was beside myself with excitement and there was lots of high-pitched squealing and jumping up and down. The wait was long (although truthfully any wait would have been long even if it had only been a three month waiting period like we experienced with The Bound Trilogy books because I wanted to read his book so badly), but it was beyond worth it. Perception was truly exceptional, there is nothing I would change or want different, and it is the absolute best book that I’ve read all year!

Perception was different from The Bound Trilogy in a lot of ways, but the one way and the most important way that it wasn’t different, was how Perception affected me. I felt so much reading Ethan and Angel’s story and I felt just as much or more reading about Jackson and Savannah. I felt their pain and heartache, their fury and determination, and their joy and love as if it was my own. My heart broke for Jackson and Savannah, I wanted to sob and curse and at some points, I felt a touch homicidal too. There are hard moments to read in Perception, but it was also so sweet and warm and that giddy peaceful feeling you get sometimes while I was reading Jackson and Savannah's story. The love connection between them is so real and right, I loved and adored their journey.

I loved and adored them just as much. Savannah is in an unbearable, horrible situation, but I never thought of her as weak. She is unbreakable, she is strong, and she is fierce. She is a fighter, she’s determined and stubborn, and she is a survivor. Savannah is amazing and I have so much respect and love for her, you don’t even know — she’s worth it to get to know and I know you will be just as impressed and taken with her as I am.

And Jackson, of course, I couldn’t get away without talking about my Jackson. Oh, I just wholeheartedly love that man, he’s wonderful and impossible not to love. I loved seeing that warm, silly, playful side that we got to see a little bit with Angel, but even more so with Savannah. Jackson is true and honorable, he’s patient, compassionate, kind, and just a rock. Jackson will always be there for the people he loves and cares about and he would do anything for them He’s just as amazing as Savannah — you can’t any better with these two!

Perception was captivating, thought provoking, and deep. It was a romance and a beautiful one at that, but it was much more than just a simple love story. It was about hope, surviving and overcoming, empowerment, and finding and believing in yourself. Perception was beautiful, phenomenal, and inspirational. It touched every part of me and it is my favorite read of 2018 as well as the best one!

After reading the Bound Trilogy I couldn't wait to get my hands on Jackson's book. We see him throughout the trilogy but we never have great detail about him.
He was very intriging in the trilogy and in this book to.
Kendra Leigh always has a way with words. Its definiatley that something that grips you from page 1 and keeps you hooked in the story.
It did take me quite a while to get into this story and I'm not sure why because by the end I loved it.
There's not really a lot I can saw without giving spoilers so I'm just going to focus on my feelings.
I really loved Jackson, his past and present. I could not believe what he had been through as a child and my heart broke listening to his story.
He had definatley had it bad but he had turned his life around.
Savannah's a strong female character and we saw that on more then one occasion. I felt she made some stupid decisions regarding her life and safety. But we always can say they should of done something differently when looking (or reading) from the outside. You never what you would do when put in the situations Savannah was.
But I honestly loved her, she was fiesty, stong and just someone I would love to be best friends with.
The story is beautifully written which is what we expect from Kendra Leigh's writing. There was also some warm and heartfelt moments thrown in.
I loved that we got to read about Ethan and Angel again, I love those 2 so much.
I can honestly say I will read ANYTHING that Kendra Leigh writes, I love her writing style, her words and her stories and I can't wait to see what else she has in the pipeline.

Speechless. It is actually hard to find the words to write this review. I just love Jackson! The way that he is thrown together with Savannah is absolute perfection.

There are definitely heavy topics discussed in this book as it was inspired by the #MeToo movement. But it is incredibly empowering! As a woman, I love reading a book about a strong woman who has overcome many obstacles in her life. This book did just that and did it extremely well! Savannah won me over from the very beginning. I was rooting for her throughout this whole book.

I now understand that I should go back and read The Bound Trilogy to learn a little more about a common character. I am doing this right away as I just want to continue reading Kendra's writing!

I was totally expecting Jackson and Savannah's story to have me in tears. A story full of betrayal, violence, love and hope. I tried my best to take my time with this read and by the way what a beautiful read it turned out to be. But everytime I got further and deeper into the book I denied myself the rest I needed, save the page and pick it up again in the morning. I was determined to finish their story with zero sleep.

What an incredible read Perception was. Everything I expected to feel was felt in Jackson and Savannah's story. The emotions this book had brought out, the good, the bad, and most definitely the ugly in me. Many times I had to close my phone because my tears were constantly falling. Those tears were a mixture of sadness,, betrayal love and hope.

Kendra has put out another "bestseller" I cannot wait for all of you 'Kendra Leigh' followers to experience all the feels this book stirred in me.

And if you haven't touch the 'Bound Trilogy' I strongly recommend you do. That is where you will find Ethan and Angel's story.

Kendra I just want to say "Perception" was well worth the wait. I absolutely loved the journey it took me on. I can honestly say I will be reading Jackson and Savannah's story over and over again. I love the Awesome Foursome team and their circle of friends.

God bless you and your family and most importantly your incredible gift.

Perception. What an apt name for one of the most enthralling novels I have ever read!

I can’t quite put my fingers to it, but something about Kendra Leigh’s writing just pulls me in and before I know it, it feels as if I was right beside the characters, experiencing what they are feeling. The pain that eats them up inside, the intense emotions of love but having to walk away, and even to the point where hope starts to blossom within Savannah!

Perception is a novel that that would capture your full attention to the very end!

I can promise this - reading Perception would definitely give you an out-of-the-world experience!

As a reader, I don’t feel as if I am just reading the words written by the amazing Kendra Leigh. No, it feels more like I am experiencing the whole thing. The different emotions running high within the characters, the decisions they made, the consequences they face… It is truly an extraordinary feeling!

I believe the author has a flair for making the first meeting between the characters an unexpected one. Nothing is as it seems. That, and also her endings are often extremely satisfying, if not more. Her novels are not just the usual hot-brooding-stranger-with-a-past meeting a terror-stricken woman who’s suffering, and rescuing her from the hellhole she’s in.

It's not just about the connection between two people, how they helped each other to survive their nightmares, It’s also about how they find a new purpose in life, how they break free from their prison and, how they rise from the ashes, burning brightly as the idea of life taking on a new meaning blossoms in heart and mind.

What I really love about Perception, is the lesson it teaches. Not just to those who were, or who still are suffering from Savannah went through, but also those who resign to their fate, even after they have a taste of what it feels like to be free from their cages. Not every Sparrow has their Bear, but however small hope may seem, however far, grab onto it and don’t give up.

Not to give too much away, but the bond between the Sparrow and her Bear is truly my favourite! Without her Bear, she might not have been able to fly freely in the sky. When it comes to Savannah and Jackson, the intensity of their emotions is literally of the charts, and I don’t even mean the physical contact between them!

Alright, before I start going on and on, and into way too many details, there is one particular scene that I love very much. It has something to do with fire! That is just one classic scene and honestly, I could picture it in my head. The image of Savannah becoming a phoenix and rising from the ashes burns brightly in my imagination!

Enough from me! I would definitely highly recommend this novel for readers who love a little action, revenge and love in their reads!

✯✯5 Bear and Sparrow Filled Stars!!

Ladies and gentlemen Kendra Leigh is BACK!!! I feel in love with her when she published The Bound Trilogy . I feel for Ethan Wild and Angel. I ESP fell for Jackson Dean. The man in charge of Ethan’s security and best friend. Since then I can’t watch The Jungle Book and hear The Bare Necessities and not think of Jackson.

Jackson’s on a vacation while his boss/best friend Ethan and Angel go on their honeymoon. It takes him back home to London where he runs into an old acquaintance. She offers him a job that brings him back to his past. Jackson never thought it would end the way it did.

Savannah’s in a world that only has black, white and grey in it. Her marriage is far from a loving and happy place. Savannah’s husband is an evil man that controls every minute of her day. Savannah can’t do anything without the man knowing. When she’s thrown in close quarters with Jackson AKA Bear everything changes.

Savannah realizes that there’s more out there in the world. The more time Savannah spends with Bear the better she feels about herself. But, it’s also making her see things from a different angle. It’s when Savannah has to say goodbye to Bear it’s when she realizes her life has to change.

There’s so much I have to say about this book it’s unreal. Jackson was a protector in The Bound Trilogy but he was so much more in this book. I was determined to know what and who made Jackson the way he was and Kendra gave it to us!!!

My heart broke for Savannah. There were times I wanted to strangle her. I couldn’t believe she’d believe and do things. Then in the next breath I felt her pain if she didn’t do it.

Jackson helped Savannah find her voice. Savannah helped Jackson see things he never thought he deserved. These two are great together. Then add Ethan and Angel in Jackson and Savannah’s corner and their a force to be reckoned with.

Once I started this I couldn’t put it down. This book does have triggers. So this is my warning. Otherwise this is a beautiful story. Kendra wrote Savannah and Jackson AKA Bear and Sparrow’s story beautifully. They’re incredible.

Kendra hasn’t published anything in awhile. I have been waiting and stalking her social media frequently. I can honestly say that the wait was so totally worth it!!! I’m keeping my fingers crossed her next release is soon.

Jackson isn't the man he used to be, at least he hopes not, but when his past resurfaces, he realizes he's fighting himself. When he takes Savannah, he knows that's more like his old self, so why did he take her now? Savannah knows pain, and unfortunately, is from her husband. And even with that a part of her life, when a stranger throws her in a trunk, she's still, and understandably so, terrified.

Jackson and Savannah may have met in a scary, err unique, way, but a bond forms nonetheless. And the strength of it is not only unexpected but something they begin to enjoy. However, challenges surround them, especially his past and her present, and both will impact any future they hope to have. As their feelings for one another grow, but facing the unknown may test their limits. But, things aren't always as they seem and reality and one's interpretation of it can blur, and the outcome of that can destroy you if you let it.

Can Jackson and Savannah overcome everything coming their way? What happens when his past and her present collide? Can they make peace with their emotional demons to find happiness with one another? Is a HEA possible?

One-click now and follow along as two people are brought together by dangerous circumstances and must decide if they want to stay together for other reasons. Though both main characters have suffered, albeit in different ways, I like that each one's issues are addressed and they begin to move past them. Their strength as individuals is awe-inspiring, but as a couple it's even more so. - By Elizabeth

When Kendra made her debut with her Bound Trilogy (and if you haven’t read it, you NEED to!), I was so excited because I knew that she was going to bring us some absolutely incredible stories. But then she took a break, and I was sad, wondering if she was going to come back into the world in which she so greatly belonged. Thank God she did!

Perception features a beloved character from her Bound Triliogy, Jackson. Now, you don’t have to read that first to get Jackson’s full impact, but it helps. I’ve been eagerly awaiting his story since the first time he appeared. And I am NOT disappointed!!

Jackson is everything I thought he would be, and them some. We get his whole story in Perception, and he’s very intriguing. Writing the perfect match for this enigma of a man would be difficult, but Kendra did just that. There is no one better suited for him than Savannah.

Savannah’s story is one of growth and transformation. Jackson calls her Sparrow, but to me, I see her more like a butterfly. She starts off helpless and weak, but after being cocooned in the attention and affection of a great man, she grows and learns how to spread her wings. Her journey is not easy. It’s dark and painful, but the end result is stunning.

Perception is such an incredible story of pain, hope, love, freedom. You very well may cry, but it’s because these two will have a way of touching your heart. This is honestly one of the best reads of 2018. And I’m so happy that Kendra is back.

Wow - Kendra did it again!! Perception is another great story with so much love, understanding, trust and lessons on how to see/deal with things. Jackson and Savannah - Bear and Sparrow - two people who have suffer so much in life. Then by a crazy circumstance are put together. Their story takes you on a ride that I never wanted to see end. There are twists, turns, surprises that you won’t believe. Jackson is the man he is today because of his past. Savannah’s life threw her curveballs and because of that she accepts to live the life she is living now. Once Jackson and Savannah are put together their chemistry shines. They learn from each other and grow. Jackson shows Savannah a different love, real love and also teaches her that she can do anything she wants if she believes in herself. While Savannah’s life helps Jackson to deal with his past. Once Savannah learns the truth of their time together can she believe in him and everything that she thought was real? Together they are a team, but it takes understanding and time to get there. Savannah needs to deal with things her way, which makes it hard for Jackson to step back and not protect her. This story is amazing and had my emotions all over the place. It was beautiful with the ugly parts life sometime gives us, but it’s how you grow from them to make you and your life yours!!!

I can't wait to see what Kendra has planned for my next read!!!

I didn't read the Bound trilogy so I didn't have any preconceived notions about Jackson. My fresh start with him was awesome. I loved both sexy Jackson and bad boy Jax. The mystery of Jax and his nefarious background before he became a bodyguard and confidante to Ethan Wilde was front and center at the beginning of the story. Then there's the sad, tortured Savannah so in need of some tenderness and kindness in her life. Who knew being kidnapped would be her salvation. Cute nicknames established, Bear and Sparrow's relationship goes from 0 to 100 quickly but who can blame them. Jax is back to his old ways and takes the opportunity when Savannah hands it to him. Savannah is so in need of his sweet and tender care and with nothing to lose she wants something she's never had. It was a stretch to think that she would be so open to any kind of relationship after her husband's horrible abuse. But it's Jax! The mystery of why she was taken is a suspenseful, twisty story and there are several surprises in store for this couple and the readers. This is a terrific story with a beautiful romance, hold-your-breath suspense, soul crushing moments cruelty, and wonderful redemption. I loved it! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC. 4.5 stars

Perception is the story of walking away, starting over, when abuse has left you broken. So many woman are afraid to walk away, to leave their abuser but Perception is a powerful story of a woman doing just that.

The author, Kendra Leigh, sends a strong, powerful message to all woman out there who are suffering at the hands of an abuser. There is hope. There is a fresh start waiting for you. You just need to summon all your courage and take that first step and leave.

Jackson is a featured character in the Bound trilogy, but here in Perception we find out his story and it's an intriguing one at that. He's enigmatic and there is something about him that calls to a reader. Jackson is there for Savannah, his Sparrow.

Savannah, Sparrow, is strong. Her story is full of courage and transformation. She starts off a victim, but in turn becomes a fighter, a survivor. The journey to become such is not easy, but her story is one that gives readers in such situation hope, freedom.

Perception is an absolutely incredible read full of pain, love and freedom. It's a story of hope. And if you're anything like me, you will be brought to tears.

This was a powerful story of abuse and having the courage to walk away from such a horrific situation. It seems pretty common in such situations that the women being abused are too scared of the consequences to try to leave their abusers. This story shows the other side of that and what a person has to go through in order to get out of that life. It’s a strong message. Women (or anyone being abused) have to fight to survive but they just have to be willing enough to do so. Through out this whole process Jackson is really there for Savannah and wants to help. While she is resistant at first eventually she comes to find that sometimes you need help to escape. There isn’t just martial abuse in this story either, there are different forms but it all comes back to the same underlying message. “Having the courage to find the strength to fight for freedom and to have a hand in the transformation from victim to survivor” as quoted by the author, Kendra Leigh, in the back of the book. I love books with strong messages that empower women. Good story!

Whatever it is you are expecting from this story, forget it and enter with an open mind. You will be surprised and completely engrossed by the events that unfold.

We all have a past, some more damaging than others, some shape our futures for the better and others hold us back. Savannah has had more that her fair share of hurt and betrayal at the hands of her abusive husband, and Kendra captures her vulnerability, courage and ultimately her strength perfectly.

I imagine this was not an easy story to tell, Jackson too has a dark past that is consuming him with guilt and it is surely by fate that brings Savannah and Jackson together to face up to and rid themselves of the demons that plague them.

Perception is an intense, dark and in some parts uncomfortable read, but Kendra guides us through the story in a well written impactful story that grips you to the very end.

I was first introduced to Kendra through The Bound Series and I really missed her writing, this is a great comeback for her.

This took me longer to read than it was supposed to, but I had a weekend signing so I was forced to put it down for a bit. However, the story is BEAUTIFUL. Some parts are hard - Savannah goes through more than anyone ever should - she is a warrior. And Jackson... agh! He's got the biggest heart.

This story is twisty, and sometimes you don't understand why what's going on is going on. But the payoff is SO WORTH IT! I keep typing stuff out & erasing, because I don't want to spoil anything. This is worth the read - it's gonna break your heart, but trust that when it's all said & done, your heart will be healed right along w/ Sparrow & her Bear. *hearts* : )

Kendra Leigh's "Perception" is a standalone read with characters from her Bound Trilogy. You could read it as a standalone, but you won't want to...you'll want to check out the Bound Trilogy (it's amazing!). "Perception" has some triggers and some parts that are tough to read, but those rough bits really make this book. I love Bear and Sparrow! Such an awesome chemistry. Finding love in spite of all the crazy that surrounds these two is just such a great story. Whatever Kendra Leigh is writing next, I'm reading it...she's right up there with Meredith Wild & Sylvia Day.

Perception

This book had me hooked as Jackson "kidnaps" Savannah for a sexual fantasy. They give themselves names that are more generic and the love blooms between them. He is her rock and she is his. Their friends support then as the plot goes on. This book is just as good as her others and I'd strongly recommend you read her work and follow Kendra Leigh💓💓💓

Really liked this book, especially this paragraph....

"You can’t change the events of your past life, but you can change the way you feel about them.
You can change your perception. Reframe it so that it no longer impacts negatively on the way you live your life in the present."

I really enjoyed the beginning of the book and the abduction. It definitely sucked me in, but then I lost interest somehow once more was unveiled.

Wow! I read this book in 24 hours. I didn’t want to put it down. I cried, several times over. I felt anger and helplessness. Just when you think… it couldn’t… it does. Great writing!

The plot is lacking, the characters are shallow and there is no chemistry
