Alexa Purdy has sworn off men and he's her worst nightmare.

Arrogant and flirtatious, and now International Airlines’ newest pilot, Jake Campbell has a panty-dropping smile and a body to match. But he’s no match for Alexa’s cold heart.

Plagued by a bad reputation and a bitter divorce, Alexa is determined to make a name for herself outside of the bedroom. As International Airlines’ only female pilot, she’s had to work twice as hard and she won’t let someone like Jake bring her down.

But she’s surprised to find he’s nothing like she expected him to be. Even more surprising is her growing attraction to him and his obvious attraction to her—an attraction that causes her to question whether swearing off men is such a good idea after all.

But when Jake’s past resurfaces, she realizes getting close to him may be her biggest mistake of all.

Pin-Up Pilot is Claire Raye’s contribution to Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward’s Cocky Hero World, and I love it. I love that this book highlights the story of a cocky WOMAN lead in a literary universe that almost entirely focuses on men. Much like the heroine, Alexa Purdy, who is the only female pilot at her airline, Pin-Up Pilot successfully shows that a woman can definitely hold her own and stand equal to her male counterparts. FIVE STARS.

Pin-Up Pilot follows Alexa Purdy, the sole female airline captain with International Airlines, and her blossoming relationship with Jake Campbell, a new first officer at the same airline. BUT, in true Claire Raye fashion, Pin-Up Pilot is more than a sexy steamy story full of romantic goodness (because it’s definitely that). This book also makes bold statements about gender-based pay inequality and the double standards society places on sex and sexuality. Even though there was one place where the “I’m not most women” girl unicorn statement was used (and that’s probably my biggest pet peeve as a feminist), as a whole this book celebrates women. The dedication gave me chills, and the female empowerment moved me to tears. I can’t wait to have it on my shelf.

Alexa first appears in Playboy Pilot, and thought I haven’t read it, from what I can tell, her character had a reputation for sleeping around. “She puts the “friendly” in the friendly skies,” they said. Well, like with most humans, there’s a lot more to Alexa than her reputation in Playboy Pilot suggests, and you’ll have to read Pin-Up Pilot to see how dynamic and layered Alexa is. But one of the things I loved about this book was that Alexa (for the most part) doesn’t try to excuse or explain away her past decisions to have casual sex. She owns her sexuality and she is unapologetic about it. And Jake Campbell, the hero, is completely unbothered by and uninterested in her reputation. He likes her for who she is and what she’s accomplished, and that’s all that matters.

Pin-Up Pilot has some steamy chemistry and sexual tension that I freakin loved, but it’s the social commentary that is THICKKKK. Honestly, I could talk for pages about how Pin-Up Pilot puts on blast the societal double standards of sex and sexuality, and how it shows that male pilots (and even female flight attendants) are celebrated for owning their sexuality, while Alexa is shamed for it simply because she is a successful female of power in a male-dominated sphere.

I could talk in depth about how income inequality is highlighted as a real issue, how women are stronger when we work together, and how the book gives examples of how men can also be feminists (and that👏🏻it’s👏🏻sexaaaaay👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻).

I could go DEEP in the analysis of the intricate layers of this book, but instead of doing that, I’m just going to say READ IT.

Alexa is a boss, Jake is her sexy equal, and Sofia is probably my ultimate favorite EVER. (CR, I’d read a book about Sofia the fighter pilot, just sayin).

READ THIS BOOK.

Five stars. Alexa and Jake are BAE. ✈️

I've been interested in Alexa's character and wanted to learn more about her since I read Playboy Pilot. She is working in a male-dominated industry and she is the only female pilot in her company.
She is independent, successful, and unapologetically herself. I didn't care about her ”bad” reputation. It was refreshing to read about a thirty-year-old woman who wasn't a virgin, or had only one or two sexual partners before Hero came into picture. I loved that she accepted her past and never let anyone bring her down.
Jake is a little bit cocky, sometimes arrogant but still so kind and funny. I loved how supporting and caring he was. Both of them were incredible characters and really enjoyed and loved reading about them. They were so cute together and perfect for each other!

Pin-Up Pilot hooked me from the first page, and I was happy to devour this one in a single sitting. I was hooked on the characters and the storyline, quickly falling in love that all that played out.

With plenty packed into this one, there was more to the story than I anticipated. It was more than just a romance – although the romance was certainly wonderful – and all the extra details ensured I was unable to put the book down.

Without a doubt, this is a great addition to the Cocky Hero Club.

We meet Alexa who is a woman in a man's world, you would think that by now with this day and age we wont have this distinction, but we do. Alexa is a captain for the airline she works for, she works twice as hard with not the same pay. She has alot of battles threw out her life and now she has to deal with a newbie one that already started on her bad side by getting late, and to top it off a womanizer. Jake is intrigued by Alexa however she seems to have a stick up her butt but that is not going to stop him on hitting on her because he likes what he sees. Alexa ends up giving Jake a chance not really thinking that much will come out of there time together but what she learns from Jake is not what she notices, he cares about her and is not threatened with her position and he also ignores the bad reputation that she gotten, (that part burned me up) if she were a man she wouldn't have had it. She realizes that she cares more about Jake than she thought and then boom, something happens that will shake that foundation, read it my friends and fight out..

Claire Raye, I am definitely a new fan! What you did with this story was AMAZING! Jake Campbell is totally a swoon worthy main man in a romance novel, but you also bring a realness to him which makes everything even more believable and him even more attractive. I totally dig Alexa as well, though sometimes I wanted to shake her, sorry not sorry. I like that this was a slow burn and things took their time to progress and also talked about some very serious issues. All in all, I am a fan, and I think that romance readers will also enjoy this book- I give it 4.5 outta 5 stars and will 100% be looking out for more books by the author!

PS: Thank you to Claire Raye, Cocky Hero Club, and Give Me Books PR for allowing me an advanced copy of the book to read and review honestly.

Pin-Up Pilot takes you into the Cocky Hero World of Playboy Pilot and will have you flying high amongst the clouds in no time. Alexa is a character who is fierce, strong and will not back down. Jake is her first new officer but this Cocky Aussie wants to be so much more. Their story has chemistry, adventure and passion. It is a story that will take you on a trip of drama, perseverance and love. As these two find their wings, you will be charmed and also inspired by Alexa’s strength.

Wow!!! I really liked this one!! Alexa is a Captain of an international airline and she meets Jake on their flight to Australia. I loved that this book hit so many topics, but most importantly had a strong female lead! Alexa is so strong and owns everything she does. Jake is a swoon worthy Australian who was a fighter pilot before joining the commercial side.

I really enjoyed this read and will be digging through the author’s backlist now.

I seriously have no words for this book aside from ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE but I will try to muster some up!

I read Playboy Pilot and definitely loved Alexa's character and wanted to know more about her and her past, what made her tick and why she acts the way she does so it was awesome that Claire Raye gave us her story!

I have a serious girl crush on Alexa Purdy. She is fierce and feisty and isn't afraid to stand up for what she believes in. Jake Campbell is the cocky Aussie we assune him to be but so much more! He slowly opens her up *all the pun intended 😏** but the slow burn was so worth it! Their relationship was fun, refreshing and I was rooting for them from the first page!

This isn't just a story about finding love and trusting again, it's about having the courage to not be silenced when you believe in something so strongly. It's about loving yourself first so you can love another person. It's about finding that person that won't stand in front of you or behind you but with you. It's about persevering through adversities, knowing you are so much more than what people see on the outside and owning it.

These ladies knocked this one out of the sky and this is a top read for me 100%. Amazing book!

2020 seems to be the year I am #winning with new-to-me authors! What stood out to me the most was the girl power behind the story or should I say sewn into the fabric of the story-line so beautifully and empowering! This romance fiction story was wrapped in the fabric of our society’s double standard when it comes to male and female roles in the workplace and their worth as compared to each other. Don’t get me wrong, that is not the focus of the book, but it gives the reader something extra to root for! I loved every moment of it. Pay attention to this story because there’s a lot more to it than just a romance journey or even the point I brought up on pay inequality in the work force. Our heroine’s past and how it is viewed by society is also something worth paying attention to.

SO MUCH GOODNESS up in this story guys! Seriously. The writing was excellent, I loved every one of the characters, the story-line was perfection and there was nothing fluffy about it. Did I mention the witty banter and chemistry that sizzled? Okay, yes, but it's worth mentioning again!! LOL

Claire Raye is on my radar now, not only because of this story, but I’ve stalked their previous books and from what I can read in the reviews, this author duo is exactly the author I need to get behind!

The more I read from Claire Raye the more I completely fall in love with their writing and stories. They don’t shy away from societal issues, they write strong women who aren’t afraid to stand up and shout from the rooftops. Alexa is no exception to this and she may be my favorite Claire Raye heroine to date.

Alexa is a captain, a damn good one, however, she has a reputation among her peers. Jake is a first officer, former Air Force member and not afraid of a strong woman. I love how well these two characters balance each other and support each other. From the moment they met there was a connection and I loved that Jake was able to slowly get Alexa to lower her walls and relax, even though she has sworn off men and has some issues with them after her divorce.

I’ve got a MASSIVE girl crush on Alexa. She is kicking booty in a male dominated career and she helps young girls who are interested in flying. She is a role model to any woman out there. I was cheering her on during a certain bar scene (you’ll know what I’m talking about when you read it) and for fighting for equality in the workplace. Jake, well how can you not love an Aussie?! Seriously, he is swoony and supportive and isn’t afraid to stand up and support Alexa. He also rents an entire theater to watch The Fast and The Furious, YES PLEASE! Sign me up! There were so many sweet moments, emotional moments, and some heat. Plus a little cameo from Carter (Playboy Pilot) and I ADORED the girls in Alexa’s flight school, especially sassy Sofia.

Honestly, I could go on forever about how amazing this book is, how much I love Alexa and Jake, and Claire Raye’s writing. This is just one book you’ll have to read. It is a MUST READ and one of my TOP BOOKS of 2020.

Alexa is a female pilot who is not only a part of the men’s club but she excels there. She is criticized by others for her reputation with men but she is so much more than what you see and she has learnt the only way to handle it is to ensure that others know she doesn’t care what she thinks. She knows that the same rules don’t apply for men and women but she is going to part of the solution and not part of the problem.

Jake is the perfect package from his sexy accent to his charm to his personality. He is Alexa’s new co-pilot and he is not deterred by her brash personality and in fact it only makes him want her more. He knows that she can stand up for herself but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t want to support her both when it comes to their relationship and her career.

Between the compelling characters and the captivating plot this is a story you don’t want to miss.

Pin-Up Pilot by Claire Raye
Cocky Hero Club

Pin-Up Pilot will be Released on the 31/05/2020!

“There’s two sides to every story,” he starts. “And you better not be a douchebag in both of them.”

I need to start by saying I love the girl power and boss babes in this book, it shows that women and f**king awesome and that we can do anything we set our minds to! Their is also nothing sexier then a men who can handle a strong bad ass women, whilst not trying to change her!

This book was absolutely amazing, and was one of my favourite reads this year.

Alexa Purdy is the only female pilot at her company and she’s an amazing pilot at that. But after being cheated on by her ex husband and the gossip of the aviation world she becomes almost a very closed off person, someone whose trust has been broken one to many times. But that might just change when she meets her new first officer.

Jake Campbell is excited to final have his first full-time flying gig, and even more excited that he’s flying back home to Oz Even if it’s only for a few days. So when the plane lanes the last thing he expects his for his closed off boss to as him for a favour, that well might just change his life.

I loved this book, and all the little Aussie quotes that whilst may seem strange to some, to me they are like second nature! This book is amazing and I highly recommend reading it, like go set a reminder now.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of Pin-Up Pilot and for that I’m very grateful.

This book was absolutely amazing. I truly loved everything about it. The slow burn and undeniable chemistry was just pure perfection. Alexa and Jake has the best chemistry I’ve read in a while.

The way they were able to get to know one another during their layovers was fabulous. These two were not only smoking hot but had so much fun together.

Then Alexa having to fight for equality in the workplace was a very unexpected surprise but man was it well done. I hated that she was always judged by who or what she had done in her past but her male counterparts could do the same and everything be ok. It was so frustrating. This had hoped that a couple of the jerks would have gotten what was coming to them.

Jake was amazing in his quest to help her because he could see how amazing Alexa really was.

One of my favorites from the new Cocky Hero Club books.

Oh I loved this book, it was exactly what I needed and didn’t even know it! So what did I love about this story so much, you ask? First there is Jake...he was cocky, of course, but not obnoxiously so. He was also sweet, determined and “Aussie sexy.” Then you have Alexa who may have had her vulnerabilities but she was also a bada$$ lady who was powerful and undaunted by any obstacle thrown her way. She was a lady on a mission. The two of them together created the perfect mix of sexy, cheeky banter and head over heels sweetness with just enough angst to keep things interesting. So much goodness wrapped up in one awesome story.

As the only female captain in the male dominated airline that she was works for, Alexa fights not only for what she deserves in terms of pay equity but also to distance herself from reputation as the friendly in “flying the friendly skies.” Jake is her first officer who gives her the worst first impression. But his actions along the way show her he’s not at all threatened by her rank. In fact, he does his best to derail the gossip about her. He has a secret of his own that is devastating to Alexa. But his actions to make it up to her show just how contrite he is.

As I read I couldn’t help but think that finally a guy who isn’t threatened by the achievements of a woman and is equally appalled that she makes less than him with her higher rank. Can we say as close to perfect as a guy can get? *sigh*

Claire Raye did an amazing job at weaving the Playboy Pilot into her story. Her words sucked me in and had me fighting sleep to get to the end.

I received an advanced copy of this book and voluntarily left this review.

Oh wow, what a #GirlPower book that was for me. I've read close to 900 books in my life and that's the first time I've ever come across one that has such a strong Girl Power vibe.

I freaking love this story so much and this being the very first book I've ever read from Claire Raye, I'm extremely impress and I will surely be checking up on their other titles.

I have such a girl crush on Alexa right now. She was this strong, powerful, badass of an independent woman that didn't need a man to show her she was a strong, powerful, badass of an independent woman. How refreshing is that people??? She was steady and unapologetic about her choices and the way she lived her life and when the time came for her to make some changes in her life, she did it with her head held high and with absolutely no crutches to hold her up. But, her reputation followed her around like an ugly hag and everyone around her painted her in a harsh light that she didn't deserve for living her life the way she saw fit.

Enter Jake. Adorable, cheeky, charming Aussie Jake. Talk about the definition of a true partner and a Man with capital M. Jake, the new kid on the playground, didn't let the rumours and the stories floating around Alexa to paint the picture of who she might be, but took the time to actually get to know her. And once he did, god! That man did EVERYTHING to lift her up and never once tried to change who she was. Yeah, he did some stupid shit, but in the grand scheme of things they were forgivable. And they were forgivable not in a the-heroine-is-a-dormat kinda way, but after some explanation and soul searching you can accept them and move on stronger than before.

Dear god, I can't get over that Girl Power vibe though. Alexa got shit done! She tried to go at it alone but she realised at some point that she needed help. And she had the cajones to ask and more importantly to accept it when it was given. And I FREAKING LOVED how she inspired younger generations of female wanna-be pilots and you actually got to witness the mini-badasses in action.

And even though this was supposed to be a romance novel, it was so much more than that. But the romance was so sweet and refreshing and poignant in both characters' development. It was slow burn for sure, but so satisfying to watch and experience. And when it exploded, it EXPLODED!!!!

Maaaaan, I wish there were more guys like Jake, men that instead of leading or overshadowing or standing next to their partners, they stood WITH their partners. Men who didn't take credit for their partners' accomplishment even when they had even some small part in helping them with it.

And I wish there were more women like BADASS Alexa. Women who grab life by the balls and won't let up until they're heard and they achieved what they wanted to achieve.

Pin-Up Pilot might be one of the best additions to the Cocky Hero Club of the stories I've read so far and I can't rave enough about it. #GIRLPOWERSUCKERZ

There's nothing sexier than a man who can handle a strong woman... without trying to change her.

Alexa has achieved her lifelong goal and is a captain for International Airlines. It's been tough-going to reach this level of success, and if being a trailblazer hasn't been easy, putting the sexy shenanigans of her younger days behind her will be even harder. Enter one hot, cocky, Aussie pilot to complicate matters even more. Jake may be Alexa's new first officer, but he'd like to be a whole lot more. Proving he wants Alexa, without clipping her wings, is a tall order, but if anyone has the swagger to pull it off, it might be Jake.

The chemistry between these two sizzles hotter than a Sydney summer. Joining them on their adventures in the sky and behind closed doors, I found myself rooting for them from the moment they met.

Join Alexa, Captain Carter, and the rest of the International Airlines crew for another flight and you'll find yourself landing at a sexy, satisfying destination.

Not that I was surprised, but this is yet another stellar read from Claire Raye - one of my favorites of 2020, for sure. I cannot put into words just how much I love Alexa; she is mighty, she is fierce, she is determined, and she is just absolutely incredible. Yes, she's been burned, but she doesn't let anything stop her, and you will seriously get to see just how fierce and mighty she is (especially in the face of adversity) throughout this book.

And Jake. Swoonworthy Jake. What I love about him is that he's not intimidated by Alexa and just how amazing and strong she is. He wants to make her better and walk beside her, which can't always be said for other characters in the book. He loves Alexa for the powerful woman she is and doesn't try to change her, which makes his ridiculously charming character that much more attractive.

There are some side characters that I love (one in particular has a spunky spirit that cracked me up), some side characters that I hate (I gave some serious side eyes while I was reading), but the book overall is the perfect addition to The Cocky Hero Club. This book gave me all the feels, made me proud, made me fan myself, made me smile. What a fantastic read.

Thank you to Claire Raye for an advanced copy of this book. I stayed up all night to read it in one sitting, and it was WORTH IT.

This is my first but certainly not my last read by this author. Pin - Up Pilot is a great read.

Alexa has sworn off men but when she meets Jake she’s unsure she can stick to it. Alexa is a good strong, likeable and ambitious character. She’s worked hard to get where she is.

The chemistry is great between these two. A well written story. I really liked it.

Where to began? This book was the complete package and so much more! Truly the ladies of Claire Raye did a spectacular job! The chemistry between Jake and Alexa was off the charts from the first chapter! Pin-Up Pilot was nothing short of PHENOMENAL! Jake Campbell is a total dream book boyfriend! He’s so sweet, charming, and completely hunky! Jake met his complete match in Alexa Purdy! Alexa Purdy has become my new girl crush! This book shines a light on Alexa’s struggles of being a female pilot with a controversial background. Alexa is a strong, brave and a complete badass! I couldn’t help but be taken aback in the best way possible by Alexa. Alexa is the female hero who didn’t need a man, but fell for her better half. All the quotable moments made this a must read for me easily! The way the Claire Raye duo always delivers on their books is amazing!

I loved that Claire was able to create such a strong and powerful heroine, Alexa has a interesting past that many feel defines her. However she is a kickass female in a male dominated field, she has been hurt and doesn't trust easily. I loved watching Jake knock her walls down, even though he has his faults, he has the best intentions. It is captivating, I devoured this story. I loved the Aussie references and phases, as an Aussie I love seeing this is books. I laughed and smiled throughout this book, it's the perfect book to curl up under a blanket with.

When I grow up, I want to be Alexa Purdy- plain and simple. Alexa is smart, talented, strong and unapologetically her. This character is the type of heroine we need in real life-one who brings other women up and stands up to those who are in the wrong and fights for what is right.

Alexa, needs someone to stand with her, not try and control her but support her aspirations and goals. Jake is just the man to do this. Even though he seems like a young, flirty, cocky, up and coming commercial pilot, we learn he is so much more. From the beginning he is interested and supportive in everything Alexa says and does. When conflict arises, Alexa refuses to let it hold her down, but it still open to getting answers. We see Jake really shine and he works hard to be his best self and find a way to help Alexa get the HEA she deserves.

Like so many of Claire Raye books, it holds back no punches- taking real world issues and circumstances that many people shy away from and bring light to them. Always a please to read one of their books.

5 stars. A must read if you love strong empowering heroines and alpha men that support them while they shine.

I loved reading a story that has such a strong female role. Alexa is a take no sh$t from anyone. But on the inside struggles with how people have perceived her since her divorce. She has a wall around her heart. In walks Jake. A heart stopping, kind, funny, and will do anything to break down the wall around Alexa's heart. I enjoyed every. Single. Moment. Of this book. Watch their story unfold. You'll love it!! Promise!!

A beautiful self-redemption story focused on both the strength and the fragility of redefining yourself. Claire Raye reaches down and pulls out a voice for women everywhere through her unfiltered and emotional characterization. This is a story that demands to be heard. Not only do the sparks fly between Alexa and Jake but there is an instant chemistry to the storyline with what it means to truly accept yourself and one another. Absolutely loved it! Top read 2020!
