Levi McCoy took me under his wing when we were kids. He was my protector. My best friend. My everything. And I was sidekick. We stayed close, even when relationships and life in general tried to tear us apart. Years later, he landed an internship at Montague Enterprises, competing with my childhood nemesis, Conner Daniels, for the final coveted position. That's when things got messy. The two bargained for the official job offer, using me as their pawn. And I fell for it. The scheming. The stolen kisses. The late night texts. My heart was being torn in two, and neither one of them cared. All good things must come to an end, right? Except our ending was one I didn't see coming. Hell, it should've never started in the first place.
Kelsie is a sucker for a love story with all the feels. When she's not chasing words for her next book, you will probably find her reading or, more likely, hanging out with her husband and playing with her three kiddos who love to drive her crazy.
She adores photography, baking, her yorkie, Bob, and her devon rex, Mara. And now that she's actively pursuing her writing dreams, she's set her sights on someday finding the self-discipline to not binge-watch an entire series on Netflix in one sitting.
This series has given me something pretty special, and that is the opportunity to discover new authors that I might not have necessarily picked up before. HIRED HOTTIE was everything I look for in a good romance and then some. Linked to MISTER MONEYBAGS, this is the story of Levi and Charlie, who are childhood best friends. I love “Friends-to-lovers” romance and this one was perfection. Kelsie Rae has created a storyline that had me laughing out loud one minute and my heart in my mouth the next. I will definitely be reading more of her work in the future.
Hired Hottie gives you the best friendship ever! It's between Charlie and Levi. Even if he's a tad bit older than her.. he's very protective of Charlie. She doesn't like it when she gets teased about her short hair or her boyish name. Kids can be such twats.
Years later, both are grown up, and the sexual tension is unbearable. Oh lord, I just wanted to slap them both and be like just love each other dammit. Alas, I waited patiently... and waited some more. Eventually Levi was all 'Oh shit, I do have feelings for her!' A little too late in my eyes but I am glad that it all worked out.
They were pretty cute so I guess I can be okay with all the 'she's my little sister' bullshit. No bro, she isn't. Just kiss her and stop being dumb. In the end, I'm glad Connor is out of the picture.. but I'm secretly hoping that he gets his shit together real quick.
The first I ever read by this author was just a few days before I read this book and I am giddy with excitement because both books were excellent reads for me!
The best friends to lovers romances in my opinion are the friends who begin in childhood. It adds such an enormous amount of emotion and heart to the story that I just cannot help but gravitate towards them!
Levi and Charlie are pretty perfect for each other. Of course, we can see that, but they can’t just yet lol I mean if they did, what story would we have? Lol I really enjoyed the ease of this story. Even with Charlie being a bit on the naïve (a better word might be innocent) side, which some might find a bit annoying, and Levy being just a bit too dumb for his own good, I didn’t feel like the story was dramatic. I like that, a lot. There was enough drama within the plot itself, but again, not overly so. The story had me laughing and smiling more than anything else and that’s a huge plus for me!
I super stoked I found this author thru now two different series that are collaborations from various authors and now I can’t wait to dive into some of her already published work!
Hired Hottie was another wonderful addition to the Cocky Hero Club, one that had me hooked throughout. I was sucked right into this one and had to finish it in a single sitting.
As much as I love the friends-to-lovers trope, I’m extremely picky when reading such stories. Fortunately, this gave me all I love about the trope. The way things developed were realistic, and I loved watching the way both characters developed throughout. There was so much fun to be had with events, so much emotion to keep me hooked, and I could not put it down. I would have liked a wee bit more from the ending, but it wasn’t enough to lessen my enjoyment.
Without a doubt, this is a must-read addition to the Cocky Hero Club.
This series is fast turning into some of my all time favourite reads, I love finding new authors as well as connecting with some of my old favourites. Hired Hottie was always going to be on my radar as Ms Rae is a go to author for me and I was excited to see her spin on the Cocky Hero Club, well this book was everything I expected and more and it certainly ticked all boxes. If you are looking for a funny entertaining lighthearted read look no further than Hired Hottie. Levi and Charlie are best friends and they were supposed to be friends for life but when Levi’s roommate Connor takes an interest in the stunning Charlie all bets are off, Levi sudden realises he may just want more than friendship but will this couple risk ruining what they have for what could be one night of lust...... Friends to lovers to enemies and back to lovers, the chemistry is intense and the friendship and loyalty is perfect, the banter is witty and I found myself laughing out loud a fair few times durning this great read. I loved the characters old and new and I loved the story and I highly recommend you one click this must read.
Hired Hottie is another standalone romance in the Cocky Hero Club series by Kelsie Rae.
This was a slow-burn contemporary theme for me. I absolutely loved the way the author portrayed the main leads journey from friendship to love.
Both Levi and Charlie have been best friends from their childhood. Levi was there for her when she was being bullied and she was there for him when he need support about anything. However , Charlie has been in love with Levi since her childhood , and he has always seen her as his best friend. She has been hai wingman many times , even though it hurt her to see him with other girls.
But things soon change , as it just takes a movie night gone wrong , for them to realise the mutual spark they have for each other!! But before things can go further , Levi squashes them down as he doesn't want to destroy his friendship with her.
Now after many years , their bond is just as strong , but they are still just friends. Soon Levi's roommate takes notice of Charlie and Charlie also feels a spark with him. She decides to see where that would go and asks for Levi's help.
It was somewhere at that point, Levi started seeing her not just as his best friend. It was a bit exasperating , of how clueless Levi could be at times!! I wanted to smack some sense into him more than once.
This was a slow-burn , second-chance romance for me and I will recommend this to all the contemporary readers who are addicted to the friends-to-lovers theme!!
Charlie has been in love with her best friend Levi since they were children however he has never seen her as more than a friend. As a result, she has unknowingly closed herself off to other men until Levi convinces her to go on a date with Connor who he says has changed from the boy that bullied her when they were in school.
Levi has always shared a special relationship with Charlie but now that Connor, his roommate and the man he is competing against professionally, has noticed her he is beginning to see her in a different light. When a devil’s bargain has him setting up his best friend and his roommate is there any other way for this to end but in heartbreak?
Everyone around them knows that Charlie and Levi belong together and Levi is about to find that out as well.
This is my first Kelsie Rae read & it certainly won’t be my last. A story of best friends since they were kids & how their relationship grows & develops into adulthood.
Charlie is super sweet, she’s very simplistic & oh so naive! She’s been in love with her best friend Levi since forever. Enter Conor, her childhood nemesis & now Levis's new roommate.
The drama will ensue & as the story unfolds we get to see the depths on which true friendship lies. This friends to lovers novel was extremely well written & I felt all the emotions jumping off the page.
This is a friends to eventually lovers book. It is a slow burn with all kinds of friendship and laughs, secrets and lies, Charlie and Levi are best friends and have been forever. Charlie has always had a crush on Levi but he never seen her in the same light. When Charlie goes on a date with a friend and coworker of Levis, will Levi finally see what's been in front of him this whole time? Will it be too late?
The premise of this story was very good, however, I did not click with the characters as much as I wanted to and I really tried. This is a much lighter read and definitely lighter on the steam scale. That is not why I didn't enjoy it, just to say, it just lacked the chemistry and attraction that I was looking at. It felt much different than the blurb led me to think it was going to be like. I never really felt the tension that should have existed Connor, Charlie, and Levi. There were cute moments in this story and is why I am giving it a 3.5 stars.
Even though I didn't connect with this story, that is not to say that someone else might feel the same. The thing I love about books is that they all mean something different for the person reading it. I appreciate this author and her dedication to the craft.
I read this book in one sitting. It was a page turner wondering how long it would take before they would jump into something more than friendship. Levi & Charlie's light hearted banter will keep you smiling. Best friends equal the best relationships.
Hired Hottie is my first but definitely not my last read by this author. Levi and Charlie are best friends since childhood. I found these two very likeable and thoroughly enjoyed this story.
If you enjoy friends to lovers stories then I highly recommend this gem.
As expected, nothing short of freaking AMAZING!!!! Loved the story, the characters, and the mix of past characters...i loved Charlie & Levi and would love to find out the rest of their story...10 STARS FOR KELSIE RAE!!!
I love second-chance romance, and this book was so good!! The angst level was pretty high for the trope and I so appreciated that 🤣. I love a good angsty book. I loved the way the story came together. Highly recommend this one!
I thoroughly enjoyed this friends to lovers book by Kelsie Rae who was a new author to me. Charlie who has been in love with her best friend Levi for forever but never did anything about it. Levi reluctantly helps his roommate date Charlie but realises he has feelings for her too. We follow their love story with a few laughs and twists. A wonderful book that I couldn’t put down. I received this book as an arc for my honest opinion,
Hired Hottie is an inviting, funny, lighthearted story with serious undertones that is so relatable everyone should read it. Who didn’t have that one person in life that you always hoped would like you as more than a friend? Who never tried to date one of their friends because they didn’t want to ruin the friendship? Who did and it worked out for the best? Who still wonders what if? Well in this story, we get to experience it all? You need to read this book for the sweets, bumping uglies, the greyhounds and the movie theatre alone. I swear Kelsie makes my sweet tooth scream in her books and it’s a good thing Get Baked is not by my house or I would go bankrupt or have diabetes. Levi and Charlie are the perfect fit in this sweet and savory story that you will want to read over and over again!
Tom-boy Charlie has finally landed in the perfect job for her. She is working at her neighbourhood bakery - Get Baked. And she loves it! There’s no pressure and she is able to do what she wants in her down time, running, relieving stress at the batting cages, and being there for her best friend Levi, and her single dad. Levi has always protected his best friend Charlie. When they were little, he would keep guys away from her, and he would fight her fights if she asked him to do so. As they grew up, he thought of Charlie as his wingman, not understanding when she left feeling like a third wheel. Levi never knew Charlie was in love with him since...well she doesn’t know when it happened or when she wasn’t in love with him. But he doesn’t see her as anything more than his best friend and sister.
Until the day, his roommate and friend meets Charlie and wants to date her. When that happens, Charlie won’t give Connor the time of day. It turns out, Connor is Charlie’s tormentor in elementary school. He moved away after his parents divorced and he seems to be a nicer, gentler Connor, but Charlie is not going to put herself in any situation with the past between them.
But both Levi and Connor are both up for the same permanent job at a prestigious firm. Connor convinces Levi that he will back out of the running, if Levi will set him up with Charlie. I was totally pissed that Levi would pimp out his friend, or that he’d want the job without knowing that he was chosen because he was best. However, his mother was having a medical issue and the cost to care for her was astronomical! Did he really have much choice?
Unfortunately, it took Levi a long time to discover that he really didn’t want Charlie with any other man than himself, learn that Connor really hadn’t changed as much as he thought, and the importance of knowing you’re doing the right thing, to get himself straight and address his own feelings for Charlie.
I loved this book! Kelsie Rae writes characters with heart and carefully shows the reader what each heart wants. This is a satisfying journey from best friend, to betrayal, forgiveness and love. What a wonderful ride!!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Bit torn over this book with the way it's presented as the whole concept made want to question if Levi was just a player who hasn't grown up yet. However that is far from the case. Levi just a little caught up with protecting those he cares about you soon find out.
Charlie and Levi have been best friends since they were little. You probably think how have they not gotten together . Well Levi hasn't seen what's in front of him and when he does it maybe a little too late. Charlie is always been the little sister to him and even now at the beginning of the book. He wants to protect her from the childhood memories that haunt her.
At some point he needs to let Charlie be herself as this girl knows how to handle herself. She is stubborn and not afraid to speak her mind. Charlie isn't afraid of hard work and she is the shinning light through the novel. But will she look past Levi's mistakes and accept his love
This is my first book from Rae and I didn't know what to think after I read the blurb. Rae did win me over though so I can say that she can write convincingly. It's light hearted and fun flirty romance that has has the whole pawn angle hovering. It doesn't work any favours with Charlie, considering she a young woman with insecurities that are field by media perspectives on bodies.
If you can see past, the whole issue of Charlie being used as a pawn. There is a wonderful story waiting to be discovered. Levi isn't too bad, he just made a judgement of error that he need to fix asap. It took some advice from a familiar person to do the right thing and then the rest is history if they can put everything aside and find a future together.
First off. The angst in this book had me in my feelings (in a good way). I totally loved the dance that Charlie and Levi kept doing, because it just added fuel to their intense attraction towards one another. I just kept waiting for things between them to explode, and when it finally did, it was awesome. Like, literal fireworks coming off the pages.
Charlie is seriously the most naive character I've read this year, but she is so charming and such a great person. She has no idea how attractive she is, a fact that becomes very evident several times throughout the story. Her innocence isn't overly annoying, and I loved watching her development throughout the story.
Her best friend, Levi, was a little frustrating at first because dude just wouldn't get it together and realize he had something amazing in front of him. An ironic twist to the story finally makes him realize that he's got a good thing going - in a few different ways - and I seriously rejoiced when he finally got it together. He's a very hard worker and has a super sweet side to him that I was glad to see.
I really enjoyed this friends-to-lovers book. It had some twists, it had alllll the angst, it moved at a good pace, and it had absolutely wonderful characters. Thank you to the author for an advanced copy of this book. It was fantastic!
Charlie and Levi were friends since they were children. Levi was older than Charlie. He protected her and took care of her. Charlie was his sidekick but in secret, she was in love with her best friend. This love goes unrequited for a long time. Charlie saves herself for Levi but with no guarantee that Levi will ever think of her as more than his best friend and wing woman. Levi didn't see her that way until his roommate, Connor shows an interest in her. This causes him to get his head out of his rear end and realize that he has feelings for Charlie. When he finally realizes that she has been in front of him all along, will it be too late? The other problem is that Levi used Charlie as a pawn to further his career. Once she finds out, can she forgive him?
This book had a lot of potential. Unfortunately, I feel that it didn't have the chemistry and attraction that it should have. I felt that Charlie gave in too quickly. Especially considering what Levi did. I wanted him to grovel and work harder for her affections. It was a little difficult connecting with these characters. Overall, a decent read but I felt as if there were things missing and the blurb was slightly deceiving.
***ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.***
I could not put this book down. I loved Charlie, as naive as she is, her insecurities mimic many female insecurities of modern time...... are my boobs too flat, why am I unattractive, why don’t guys notice me. Her insecurities and naïveté endears her to the reader right from the start. And Levi, who doesn’t love a protective, older male.
Best friends for life, until Levi’s roommate, Connor takes an interest in Charlie. And suddenly Levi’s eyes have been fully opened to his best friend, the female and how beautiful and sexy Charlie is...... and suddenly Levi is jealous.
There are quite a few funny moments, plenty of twists and angst, but through it all Charlie grows and matures. She learns to lean on her new girlfriends and to become independent of her reliance on Levi.
While Charlie and Levi get their happy ever after, I was also glad to see Levi and Connor apologize to each other for their misdeeds and I hope they can build a bridge towards their former friendship, before work competition and jealousy over Charlie got between them.
Levi and Charlie have been best friends since childhood. Next door neighbors, Levi's mom watched Charlie while her widower father went to work. Levi's always been protective and has basically chased all guys away from Charlie. It wasn't until a blast from their past shows interest in Charlie that Levi began to think he should act on his feelings. Not wanting to mess up a good thing called friendship, they both hid their feelings from each other. That's the scary part of friendship... when your love blossoms into something more, no matter how close you are and how many secrets you keep for each other, revealing your deepest feelings is tough. Because what if you were just meant to be friends and nothing more?
Ms. Kelsie Rae did a wonderful job of weaving the greatest friendship into something more and showed how two people could share their love for each other at the next level! I look forward to reading more of Ms. Rae's stories!
I received an advance copy of this book at my request and voluntarily left this review.
This series has introduced me to some really talented authors that I might have missed discovering on my own and honestly I would’ve really missed out. This is another fantastic addition to CHC series . Fresh ,fun, sweet and quite engaging. I literally binge read this story and loved every moment of it . It was quite cute and refreshing. I loved both Levi and Charlie and the light hearted banter & the beautiful romance reminds me why I love reading romance.
The author penned a story here that was so easy to get lost in. Not only did I love Levi and Charlie but all the supporting characters. I am not sure if the supporting characters already have their own stories but would love to read more about them . This is the first time I am reading Kelsie’s books and I loved how well written and engaging the story was. Hired Hottie is a beautiful romance. It’s sweet and sassy and everything I hope to feel and experience when I crack open a romance novel. One of my favorites from this series.
This friends-to-lovers romance novel will suck you right in, and make you hold your breath at times, and make you swoon at others!
Best friends Levi and Charlie were always close. Levi was the protector, while Charlie was the free-spirit. But when Levi's friend comes into the picture and tries to claim Charlie for his own, suddenly, Levi is forced to re-evaluate his feelings for his best friend. But is he willing to put their lifelong friendship on the line for a possible romance? Or will things blow up in his face?
Charlie always loved her bff Levi, but could a guy and a girl just remain best friends, or could something more happen for them? Something that would rock their world, and bring them closer than ever? All Charlie knows is that she has to try and make Levi see that her heart knows what it wants--and it wants Levi.
This was a great addition to the Cocky World series and I can't wait to read more from this author!
An a exceptionally well written slow burn friends to lovers story. I read 'Hired Hottie' in one sitting because I wanted Levi to get of his ass pull the stick from up it and finally see his best friend from child as the beautiful woman that Charlie had become. Not as his wingman not as his go to when he wants to chill but as a Woman! And for me to be that engrossed that early on in a book show's what a well written story this is!
Charlie has been in love with her best friend Levi forever; there has been know one else and to be honest not that many boys came around and asked her out at school (I wonder why?). But when a school friend Conner (well more Levi's then Charlies )and Levi's room mate takes an interest in Charlie and gives Levi a deal that could change everything for Levi and his mom thinks are about to get messy really messy.
Finally, I got the book I would recommend on this 28th June release event! The book is friends to lovers romance which is my favorite. I didn't read the blurb though, I just got the idea that the book is friends to lovers from the prologue and I have to say the book is better than I am expected! I have a smiley face while I am reading through the book and have a few of amusing moments with all of Charlie's girlfriends. I also want to smack Levi's head for hasn't noticed Charlie's feeling sooner. I want to hate Conner too because he still be an as**hole even he is grow up but since he is the one who opens Levi's eyes, I forgive him. So yeah... I enjoy reading the book and I still have a smile on my face while I am typing my review!
Levi & Charlie have been best friends since childhood, and while Charlie has always harbored a secret thing for him, Levi was just clueless to be honest. Levi gets a new roommate who decides he wants Charlie so the journey begins since Levi finally figures out that he wants Charlie for his very own. The push & pull was crazy because she's very naive, while he frustrated me more than once, but not in that totally non redeemable way. The sparks are flying from every direction, the sweetness factor is turned up, and the angst was ever present on the intense & fun journey. So, will Levi finally get the girl?! You'll have to hit those one click buttons to find out! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!
Hired Hottie is a swoon worthy friends to lovers romance and a perfect addition to the Cocky World! Charlie is sweet, innocent and most importantly Levi’s best friend. Something has been brewing in his subconscious for years, he just doesn’t see it until he finally catches her kissing another man. Levi and Charlie have been best friends since they were young kids but now that they are all grown up some of chemistry that has kept them close over the years is inching towards overflowing. Now, they have to decide if that next step is worth the risk.
